Corrected Review (accidently posted the wrong review for this place) Food ***** Ambiance ***** Cleanliness ***** Service ***** We were really pleased with this hot pot place; from our personal perspective it was hard to do hot pot with 6 people might be much easy with just the two of us next time. From entering we were immediately greeted by the staff, and they walked us through the whole process of ordering (on the tablet) and the various suggestions and the sauce bar. Note just get one sauce bar and have one person get sauces for the table they are actually of wit this. Ordering was very easy; it was nice to order on the tablet too so you can reorder if you want more to eat so don't order everything at once. The food was amazing from the various meats, vegetables, noodles and soup broths. We did not dislike any of the items in fact craved and ordered more as we needed. Everything was fresh and the quantity per price we felt was very reasonable. The place is very inviting and fun, the table is a little crowded for anyone next to the hotpot, but it was manageable. The cleanliness of the tables, floor etc. was spotless, it was early, but the employees were constantly cleaning the areas. They were very quick to remove used dishes off the table which I greatly appreciate. We were never just served by one person, there was multiple people checking in on us and taking care of us, while we did have a primary server the other employees were always helping each other.

This was my first time having hotpot and it was so much fun! The place looks so modern, clean and new! The staff was very helpful and friendly and showed us how to do everything. The food was so good, I loved making my own dipping sauce and the fried dough sticks were my favorite personally. We got the Chongqing spicy flavor and it really did numb my mouth, luckily the lemonade helped a lot. Overall I highly recommend coming here!

Loved everything about this experience. I went here with a couple of friends, and we ordered the two broths. You will definitely not leave here hungry. The service was fantastic, they are very attentive and quick to refill your water. I like the ambience, it's pretty modern inside and it's a good sized restaurant so even when it's full, it never feels too busy or too crowded. Make sure to spend the $2.99 to get access to the sauce bar as it is well worth it! I would definitely recommend getting a reservation for larger parties, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings as it can get really full. If you haven't been here, definitely be sure to check this place out! This is one of the best Hotpot places locally in my opinion

I agree that the cost was expensive as the items are a la carte, but I enjoyed my experience and felt that as a person who enjoys Asian foods like chicken feet, wood ear mushroom salad, peanut salad, and desserts (coconut milk tapioca/sago, brown sugar jelly) the sauce bar made it more of a deal for me as we were able to fill up on that and order less of the hot pot stuff. I like that you can take the soup home and have it with rice or noodles etc at home the next day. Everyone was friendly and the space was clean and bright.

My first time in the hot pot restaurant, and I didn't know what to expect. I got the lunch special, which gives you a choice of one protein, six vegetable, one pasta, and one broth type. I burned my mouth. Some of this is Asian hot, not American hot, so be careful. It was all delicious, I made an absolute mess of it, and it was glorious. The service was fine, loved the restaurant. The ambiance just had a great feel to it. I believe the more people you bring the more fun you will have.

This is such a cool spot, we finally stopped by. I saw the golden beef and wagyu combo a little while ago and knew we had to check it out. There were so many options for broth and we got the flavorful bone marrow broth and nutritious pork tripe chicken broth, both were so good! Everything was really good, some of beef in the combo was soo tender. The lychee shrimp balls were super cool looking and tasty. We also paid $2.99/pp for the sauce, appetizer, dessert bar. Sauce options were good, appetizers were meh, but the desserts were good! You also get a free ice cream or popsicle at the end. Pricing was good for a non-AYCE option with quality meats! Staff was really friendly and helpful. It was also a classy nice interior with ample parking.

Another excellent meal here, third time at our now go-to hot pot spot! Nikita has served us every time and is always very welcoming + kind :)

My friends and I got the nourishing herbal broth and the flavorful bone marrow broth. We generally preferred the herbal broth. For the sides we got beef, lamb shoulder, bean curd rolls, enoki mushroom, bok choi, nappa, handmade noodles, and tong ho. We also hot lamb skewers the side. The add ins were tasty and decent size portions for our group, although there were only 3 of us and we are large eaters. Although you do have to pay for the dipping sauce. But they have a sauce bar with lots of options. The food came quickly, and the staff were nice. There was a decent amount of seating and my friends and I were able to have a good chat. We also had an early dinner so the restaurant wasn't to busy all though it also wasn't full when we left.

I usually always go to the same restaurant for hot pot, but it was so fun to try somewhere new. The vibe was very sleek and modern and we were seated right away. We tried 4 broths and were shocked at how flavorful they were, especially the tomato and the tom yum. The spicy broth is extremely spicy, coming from a lover of hot food, so keep that in mind. We ordered the golden beef and wagu combo, along with a handful of vegetables. It seemed like such a good value for the quality of the meat. The broths were so flavorful and I wanted to appreciate the nicer cuts of meat so I skipped the dipping sauce for the majority of my meal, and it was still absolutely delicious. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Was my first time trying hot pot. We did the four broths, and the mushroom was by far the best. Also got the tom yum, Chongqing, and bone broth. Would not get the bone broth again as it didn't add anything flavor wise to the food. We got the 8 delicacies in the bridge. It was a lovely first experience and we can hone in our favorites for next time. Our favorites were the garlic chicken and tender beef. We also loved the homemade wontons and hand pulled noodles. We got extra beef and lamb, but I wouldn't do those again. After dinner you get a complimentary ice cream or popsicle. Service was good.

Yes to everything. The food, the service, the cleanliness, all of it. We did four broths, and found the mushroom/umami to be the best. The quality of the meat is excellent. The sauce bar is unparalleled, and a must stop. They sell gift cards with a discount, so if you're a regular you might consider it. On your way out, they have complimentary single serve ice cream of popsicles.

There has only been one other hot pot place, Happy Lamb, in the area the last couple of years. So, when this restaurant recently opened, my friend and I had to try it out. Seventeen Hot Pot is on the tail end of Bethany shopping area by QFC. It has a very streamlined look when you enter. It is mostly a bright white with gold accenting and a few scattered Chinese lanterns here and there. Since we were going during lunch, we tried the special hot pot combo. Everything we ordered was through a computer pad they set on each table. It was fairly easy to use, with pictures and descriptions included. You can always add on more sides if you'd like. For the base, bone marrow was the way to go. It had great potential, but it was little bit waterier than I prefer. We had chicken broth for our other choice and that was pretty black. We ordered only a few extra add on's but in particular the flat iron beef and handmade noodles were definitely worth a mention. With the beef, the meat was very fresh and perfectly cut. it was artfully laid out over a bed of ice inside a golden calf. Regarding the handmade noodles, they were nice and dense, with the right about of pliable chew. They came out perfectly after being cooked in the broth. As far as the staff go, they were pretty responsive. They didn't check in much, but they brought our dishes quickly and also removed empty plates with ease. At the end of day, if I were already in this area and craving hot pot I would go eat here. But if I had the choice, I would still go back to Happy Lamb. They have more flavorful broth, and more variety of items included in their buffet package.

I thought the service was pretty good- we called in advanced to get a reservation since Yelp and their website didn't have an option for reservation. They accommodated us pretty quickly once our whole party arrived. Everything is ordered with your tablet, and they walk you through how to use the tablet to order your soup bases, meat etc. Food was really great for the price! For 5 people we had access to the sauce bar, all got boba drinks, 2 appetizers, and all their sampler trays of meat, seafood and veggies and it was only $180 before tip. It was extremely fair pricing for all that food! The soup bases were fragrant and not watered down. Meat and seafood quality was fantastic. Ambiance is fine, it's not loud and you're not running into anyone. The sauce bar can get kind of long, though. I will say my only complaint is just how the tables are structured a bit for a big group. Since the tables are high and the soup pot is low, I felt like my entire party had to stand up to scoop the contents of the soup which seemed very silly and inconvenient. Otherwise I enjoyed our meal!

I was looking for food nearby and came across this restaurant. The food was surprisingly delicious! We ordered the chicken katsu curry, kama-age udon (hokkai miso soup), and the kama-meshi seafood. The chicken katsu was cooked perfectly: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! The sauce also was the perfect texture and taste. My favorite was the kama-age udon with the hokkai miso soup. I love udon but sometimes don't like how thick it is because it fills you up faster and is harder to digest, the udon here is thinner which I fell in love with! It's soft and chewy and the perfect thickness: you dip it on the soup when you eat it. I also loved the soup, I usually have leftover soup when eat noodles, but I finished every last sip! Definitely recommend this dish if you were to only order one item! We also ordered the kama-meshi seafood. I thought this one tasted okay! The flavors of the seafood come through, but I personally like stronger and heavier flavors. It was worth a try! Parking: This restaurant is in downtown portland so it was difficult to find parking. We ended up parking at a nearby garage and paid for parking. They do have a few street parking spots near the restaurant if you want to test your luck! Seating and service: We were seated really quickly as we went on a weekday! They have several tables and a large table that can be reserved as well as bar spots. The restaurant overall looks really nice and is pretty spacious. The servers were really nice and fast to get you what you need! A side note: they have heated toilet seats in their restroom so that's always a plus!

Since we had our dog with us, we ordered everything to go and enjoyed it back at our hotel just down the street. Just a heads up if you're planning the same, there wasn't any outdoor dining available. Being from the SF Bay Area, one of the first things we looked for was Har Gow and Siu Mai, but they weren't labeled the way we're used to. After asking, we found out the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings are their Har Gow, and the Shrimp Siu Mai contains pork, which was exactly what we were looking for. We ordered two of each. We also ordered two Beef Chow Fun, Combination Fried Rice, Eggplant with Minced Pork, Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs, and three pear sodas. The dim sum absolutely hit the spot. The Har Gow and Siu Mai were well seasoned, nicely prepared, and exactly what we had been craving. The Beef Chow Fun was another winner. We were glad we ordered two because we found ourselves reaching for it more than the fried rice. The Eggplant with Minced Pork was also delicious. The eggplant was cooked perfectly -- tender without becoming mushy -- and the seasoning was right on point. I'm also glad we changed our order from the House Special Spare Ribs to the Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs. Unlike many versions, these weren't battered and fried, so the pork maintained a great texture while still being coated in a flavorful sweet and sour sauce. One unexpected favorite was the pear soda. It's made with Asian pear, so the flavor is much lighter and more refreshing than the sweeter pear sodas we're used to. The only hiccup? They're bottled with a traditional cap, and since we were staying in a hotel, we quickly realized we didn't have a bottle opener. Let's just say we got a little creative. One thing I really appreciated was that the staff noticed our large takeout order and packed it thoughtfully. They included six extra takeout containers, plenty of forks, chopsticks, and napkins, which ended up being incredibly helpful since we were eating in a hotel room with no paper plates or utensils. It's a small gesture, but one that definitely didn't go unnoticed. Overall, we were really happy with our meal. This place lived up to being on my bookmark list for over a year, and I'd happily come back the next time we're staying in downtown Portland.
