Introduction: Finishing up the last 2 of the prior to 2018 to 2024 runner-ups to non-DMV picks in alphabet series. First of two 2024 runner-ups, B is for Bethel Brews. Although this is technically not in the DC-Baltimore area as it's geographically closer to Richmond & Charlottesville areas, I'm counting it for these reasons: 1. It was a good runner-up for the letter B, which my original pick was truly out of town by Smith Mountain Lake, also in Virginia, but way southwest. 2. This place was great, so I wanted to get around to reviewing 3. I had Louisa County, VA work travel twice in March & April 2024 and was rolled into the BAWA (Baltimore-Washington area) work market, perhaps because the Virginia market, which includes Richmond & many areas to the south & west is such a vast land area with many counties, they barely rolled Louisa into BAWA market. Experience here: Staff greeted me and was friendly. On Monday, March 4, 2024, I got a wrap & fries. It really hit the spot. Excellent wrap & fries at a reasonable price. I think I got one of their coffees that day, but definitely did in April as I have photo of the drink. On Monday, April 15, 2024, I remembered it was a great lunch option that I decided when in Rome to go back, got a fruity chicken salad, which was also solid. I was tired from all the driving and got some latte I think; it was delicious. I haven't been back to Louisa County since April 2024 work travel, but if I ever am, I'd try to return. read more

After dealing with the stress of court buildings I stopped by for some coffee... I stepped into a cute coffee shop that made me feel at home. I was warmly welcomed , I had told them it was my first time and the two girls explained what their favorites are along with customers favorites. The entire interaction was genuine and wholesome. Good job to the girls making food and drinks, their attitudes were absolutely outstanding. Now the coffee.... Best coffee I've ever had hands down!! This has become a regular weekly stop for me. I have so appreciated the kind and friendly staff. They have great coffee. I have both enjoyed a simple espresso and an oat milk latte. Delicious! They have so many menu options and I have been impressed with everything I've gotten. Smoothies? So tasty and humongous! Sandwiches? Great! They even have gluten free bread and some very good sweet potato fries. Seating? Plentiful! Both inside and outside. I love sitting next to the train and hearing it rumble by occasionally. As a recovering church person I sometimes have personal gripes with the music playing. However, everything else about this place is so welcoming and kind and tasty and spacious that I keep coming back and I think that says something. I'm glad that there are places like this in Louisa where there are otherwise limited options for good places to sit and drink coffee. read more

I really wish that I liked this place more There are not many places to get breakfast in this area I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on an English muffin. The eggs appeared to be premade and heated up in the microwave probably out of a box. I don't understand this because real eggs are so much cheaper. They also taste much better. The fried hash brown wedges were pretty good. I just picked them up and ate them with my hands since there was no silverware on the table and none that I could find in the restaurant. The food came out very fast. The coffee took much longer to arrive at my table. They use those little creamer cups, and have them sitting on a table. Though I wish my experience here was a good one, I would be lying to the public. The food I was served was not only cold but also without any flavor. The coffee was extremely expensive (8-10 dollars for a basic vanilla latte with alternative milk). As for the service? The ladies working were overall respectful however, you could hear some very choice words being spoken very loudly in the back. I myself have had several years in the food industry and understand kitchen staff usually swear like sailors, HOWEVER, hearing someone while I was seated in the dinning area cuss? Absolutely trashy. Cute little place in Louisa! The staff is so nice and helpful. I had a chicken salad sandwich with bacon and lettuce on a croissant with crinkle fries. The fries were nice and crisp. The sandwich must've been good because I meant to take a picture but it's already gone. I am a big fan of crispy textures and both the bacon and lettuce had the perfect bite. I also had a sugar free, decaf, non dairy latte and it was perfect. A lovely surprise in such a small town. A note: one could say the rumble of the train going past is a nuisance, but I think it added to the charm. Super cute cafe. This was our first time here and I had high hopes. However, it was terrible in almost every way, even though they weren't busy. I unfortunately have a dairy allergy - I asked the woman at the counter if the bread had dairy and she said "I don't know". After a long pause, she finally offered to go in the back and ask. All the bread has dairy. She was clearly annoyed by having to ask, so I didn't even bother to order a coffee. I ordered the chili, which was good. The cheesesteak was flavorless and the burger (pictured) was dry, flavorless, and overcooked. The fries were ok, but just frozen basic crinkle fries. First I always like to support the local businesses. This is our first time and last. We ordered bacon chicken ranch with tomatoes and lettuce wrap. Took almost 30mins to get and I think it because I had to get up and say something. No one told us they had drop the order and had to make again. They did not come and check on us. People who came in before us got their orders ate and left! Once I said something about our order we still had to wait. We did not get really what we order! My wife and I went here for the first time today. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a young woman (can't remember her name but she also works on a farm) who was extreme, friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger because she said it was her favorite. My wife ordered the egg and cheese sandwich. Both were fresh and Delicious. The burger came with lettuce and a perfectly ripe tomato. I have been three times, and each time been flummoxed by the menu prices. the first time I couldn't figure out why my 3.50 drink rang up as over 7.00. the manager said next time I come back to tell them & it's on them. I asked why and they said that's the up charge for the bigger size... still confused as to why so much more but OK, I'll get the smaller one. third time: menu says ___oz is ____$$$. I order that size, expecting to see that price... BUT NO. it still comes up as over two dollars more than the menu price??? i ask AGAIN, and I point out that menu says _____. and the barista says oh that must be wrong sorry. ? it just makes zero sense to me. also I get up charging for a larger drink, I just don't think I understand increasing prices by almost double.
