Was here years ago. Decided to come check it out to see how much it's changed. My husband convinced me to come back for a visit. Grabbed an Elvis, PB&J smoothie, grabbed a cold press carrot juice, 12 ounce lentil soup and a chicken Shawarma sandwich from here. They didn't have any more container tops for the 12 ounce containers, had to put it into a 16 ounce container instead. The PB&J was okay, more fruity and jelly than PB for me. The Elvis is better. The lentil soup was okay, not much flavor for me, but tastes healthy. The cold pressed carrot juice is good, refreshing enough. They head out samples of their blueberry lemon muffin. I took a sample, was it for me. It was a little mushy yet crumbly and lacked flavor to me. The salad bar looks decent, but I would need their mushrooms and peppers to be cut down more, all in all the options are good for a salad bar. read more

Recently stopped here on my side quest to visit all of the Better Health stores in the Detroit area. This place is great! Located in an upscale strip mall with easy access to the streets, you'll find this Better Health Store. This store was large compared to most of their stores I sadly didn't even see their clearance section at all. They had my Gorgie and Zevia drinks. Great hot food area. Ok this place is a little pricy but if you need to find a wide variety of items for somebody with food sensitives, then this is your place! I have very strong reactions to dairy and soy. I have been looking for a decent, dairy free. and soy free cheese so I came here to see what I could find. Here are my current favorites: - Miyoko's pourable mozzarella made from cashews. I love this stuff! It's been many years since I had a sharp cheddar cheese made from cow milk, but this pourable mozzarella reminds me of the slight "bite" that you get from a sharp cheese. - bitchin sauce is great! There are several different flavors, but I really prefer the original. I have used it as a dip for pretzels or vegetables, and I've even put it on a taco. My only complaint about this store is that twice I have gone to the deli section and waited several minutes each time and nobody came out to assist me. read more

Recently, I finally have made the effort to seek healthier options that are not really available at the mainstream stores. Another trip to another store seems like more work in my already busy schedule, but, it is worth the trip and the time. Better health Market in Novi is a welcoming and friendly store with nice people and great customer service. So, that's a plus, right off the bat! I really like the organic chicken they have at a reasonable price as well. Chicken, at other stores, are oddly large and tough, you just know they are so GMO, that it is sad! Better health has a nice produce section as well. I love the prepared foods and the excellent variety! It shows a lot of thought and effort. I prefer Better Heath over Whole Foods for sure. Better health just provides a more personalized atmosphere and just not that big box, anonymous feel. I have more exploring to do at Better Health and I am looking forward to new discoveries. They have specific products that help support various diets as well as natural and healthy substitutes for commonly used household items. The products at better health do tend to be more expensive than their big box store equivalents, however the price is well worth the convenience an quality. Keto/ Low Carb folks: Better health does have some supplements and things worth considering, as well as the standard things you'd expect for vegan/ vegetarian diets. The main things I stop by for regularly are Stevia, Artisanal Pork Rinds, Keto vars for emergency situations and Lily's Chocolate. Better Health refers to this as their "main store" so when I could not find an item on their website that is commonly sold in specialty stores I decided to call to find out if they carried it. A person in the retail store could not answer my question so he connected me to a 'nutritionist'. I told her what I wanted to buy. Not only do they not carry it, she didn't seem to know what it was -- "We don't carry anything like that". Hmmm . . . I was sure I had seen it in the store, so I circled back to the website to try again and using a different search term, I found it. Turns out the key ingredient added an additional letter to the name. Out of curiosity, I copied that, pasted it into their search engine, assuming it would find the product. Nope, "did not match any results in this tab". So, to summarize, the employees of a store that specializes in supplements don't recognize one that is actually sold in their store. And the search engine of their website can't reliably find what is on their website. D'oh! read more

BetterHealth may care about your health but they don't care about the environment or your psychological well-being. My mother, a BetterHealth regular, died March 2020. Since then, I've sent at least 6 letters via USPS to BetterHealth, Tedd Handelsman - President in particular, asking that her name be removed from their printed mailing list. BetterHealth refuses to do so and continues to pollute the environment with unwanted postal mailers, reminding me of my mother in a negative manner. I wish BetterHealth would stop. I went to this store for the first time today and picked up turkey lasagna from the food bar. Brought it home, warmed it up and and it was pretty good. However as I was eating something sharp cut the roof of my mouth. I thought it was a sharp bone until I spit it out and it was a piece of glass! There was literally a piece of glass inside the piece of lasagna! I spoke to someone name Terron who was actually super nice and on top of it. He told me to come in and talk to a manager and that they were pulling the lasagna. literally as I was talking to him though I also found a small piece of a plastic wrapper in the lasagna. This is scary and disgusting...If you are going to shop here I highly recommend you only buy prepackaged foods. Easy parking. Clean store. The staff seem to know their vitamins and supplements when we asked questions. We regularly come here for our vitamins, and although pricey, they have a good selection and they sometimes have special offers. We were in the store today and bought a couple items that happened be on sale. When we got to the cashier, they told us that we couldn't use the coupons on their app because the item was on sale. However, when we looked at the coupons there was nothing that said that you couldn't use the coupon, no restrictions were listed. The cashier who wore a "manager" tag said that the "IT guy" has it set up so there is "fine print" somewhere, but it was not something that I or he could access. He said, yeah, everyone always complains about that, so you're not alone in it. In my opinion, that is false advertising, am I going to bring my own "IT guy" to access the back end of their advertisements. Uh, no. I would have been fine without being issued the coupon, and did end up buying my items, but don't put out fake coupons and tell me that there is fine print that I can't get to. That is a bait and switch, and not ok. Attached is the whole coupon, with no visible or accessible fine print. I hope that they do address this issue, as it sounded like a pretty regular complaint for them. They can solve it by just not having coupons, or just clarifying what they are intending to do rather than make up stories when customers check out. read more

I am very disappointed in the food bar at the Novi Better Health I have twice tried the baked chicken breast and the salmon patty and neither were good. The chicken breast was very rubbery so I did return for a refund . Food is too expensive now to have to throw it out at these prices. Other than the food bar I give the store a five-star review. Everyone is very friendly that works there and very helpful. They just need to get this food bar fixed. I have tried the soup and it was good. They also have a nice salad bar. This is very nice store from the outside to the inside of the store. Everything is very well lit and the items are placed in areas that are easily found. They often have yummy samples of chips, and other yummy snacks. I unfortunately indulge and buy, so their marketing strategy works. I bought some of the best corn nuts I have ever had before, they are called Inca Nuts! I am addicted and I ate the bad in less than 24 hours. They almost always have what I want, as long as it is not extremely rare. The one thing I don't like is the vibe. The people are nice, but it doesn't have the same feeling of a Whole Foods. I don't know, its just quiet, but that is fine, it's just different. The hot food is not something that looks particularly appealing, so I can't say its bad, I have just not tried it. They do have really good sales on water and that is plus, great location and a very clean store. All in all, I like them and I appreciate the coupons, and the selections. read more

This store has most of the wonderful healthy foods we look for on a Paleo Diet; however, a lot of times they are OUT of food I need (simple things like Cayenne Pepper), or they don't carry things that you think they should (such as organic berries or macadamia nuts)...and forget asking someone, these people are RUDE. My husband and I have joked about it, but it's true, it's almost as if part of their store training is to 1.) smile infrequently 2.) give dirty looks if you have active small children 3.) be unhelpful 4.) be elusive and hard to find when you actually get up the nerve to ask the meanies a question 5.) follow you around when they think you're doing something wrong (I have a 3 year old who snuck a piece of hard candy out of one of the bins, and I got followed for the whole time I was there). Just today the old stock guy made the rudest comment to my 1.5 year old (who won't sit in a cart...sorrrrrry, people), he said, "don't take the tag off, it took me FOREVER to get it on..." He said it so snidely and walked away. What an a-hole. It makes me not want to go there, but I do like that they have most of the stuff we need (organic, grass-fed, no gmo's in many items, etc.). I like this store, and I like the Novi one so much better than the Plymouth one. It feels larger, eventhough it very well may be the same size. Either way, the other one is very cramped and this one feels more spacious. I come here when I am looking for some specialty item for a recipe, or simply if I am in the area and my beloved Fresh Thyme is too much work to get to. The fresh veggie and fruit section has a lot of options, and the vitamin/supplement aisles are huge. My favorite part of this whole place is the (herbal) tea section- they have a TON of natural tea "remedies". Love! read more

Fresh Thyme and Zerbos will still be my go to for the better health items that I'm looking for- if you live close to this store it would be a good option but nothing stood out to me OR it could have been the rude sales / shelf stocking person that made me feel ehhhh about the store. I've been using Authentic Raw African Black soap for ever... very knowledgeable in ABS - where it originates from, how it's made...I have to order it as it's difficult to find authentic ABS in stores- I asked her if they perhaps carried it- she apparently got hung up on the word Raw and let me know there's no difference between the Nubian brand and what I currently buy and that Nubian is superior and is pretty sure there's no such thing as raw..ooooook- there is a difference between authentic Ghana made ABS and bar soap- Nubian is a great brand and I love many of their products but their black soap isn't authentic true Ghana made ABS... Yesterday I had a dire craving for my fav ND ice cream. Better Health Market is one place I can go to fulfill that urge. I made a quick stop in with my sister-in-law who had wanted to visit a good health food market anyway. I bypass all the organic fruits & veges and head straight for the Frozen Goodies aisle. And there is my Nirvana... Rice Milk, Almond Milk, Soy Milk, Coconut Milk frozen goodies! YUMO... I've been allergic to Dairy for 17yrs and for a long time was sad because I didn't know about options like this. It still peeves me off sometimes that SoDelicious brand Coconut Milk ice cream is $5.50 a pint. Only when I have my paycheck or a coupon do I opt to get SDCM Mocha Almond Fudge. So I usually will pick up 1 or 2 pints of AlmondDream Praline Crunch which is only $4 and RiceDream Mint Carob Chip with is $3.90. Love the Mint Carob Chip as its 100% Organic and 100% NonDairy - it uses Carob instead of Chocolate. However I am still a choco-holic and have managed to tolerate it enough that it doesn't make me sick. I then head down the next aisle where the Shelf stable Milk Cartons are across from the Beer Aisle - lol go figure - get your drink on either side. I find some brand I've never heard of - TreeFarms? Chocolate Almondmilk only $1.89 for a 32oz Shelf stable carton. I have had a craving for something Nutty & Crunchy so looked around for something to snack on... in the back is the Large Deli, Meat, Seafood, & Salad counters. There was lots to choose from and for every Health style. I was impressed by the Cleanliness today. And the I was happy there wasn't any Weird Smells. I wanted to some whole grain Pita bread but no matter where I looked I couldn't find any. I ended up grabbing a bag of BlueDiamond Almond Nut Chips. they were on sale and something I've never had before. A sample tray had some and they tasted Nutty enough for me. So I bought a bag. I really don't know though How people can Shop there for everything? The prices on some things are horrendous... However, They do seem to sell almost everything. So if you have an Allergy or Food Intolerance, or if you are looking for special Vitamin or Organic products then Its a pretty good place to visit. read more

We have returned since and found much more helpful employees now. The only thing I dislike is having to search my cell phone for the code to get the 20% off on applicable days. After I finally find the code the cashier does not even need to see it because she already knows the code. This procedure slows the lines up sometimes and seems needless since everyone can get the discount. If management reads this I would ask that the deli area have more food items available at more times. We go at least once a week during the 20% off time but rarely is there anything available in the deli area. They DO have a wonderful chicken teriyaki, an amazing amish chicken pie and salmon but it is hard to find it actually stocked there. Okay, I've refrained from posting for awhile now, but today's experience begged me to do it! First off, I loove Better Health (in general!) They carry great products (pricey!) and I've shopped there for years (Dearborn and Novi locations). The Novi location has a ton of products to choose from and a deli/cafe with sandwiches, salads, smoothies, etc... The bad: The Novi location has the WORST customer service I have ever come across. The Deli/Cafe employees in particular, are extremely rude. You get the impression that they HATE their jobs/customers. They appear to be talking about customers and have a general rudeness about them. Today, when I was waiting for my smoothie to be made, the girl dragged her feet to get a pen and order sheet, didn't make eye contact and rather painfully took my order. Then, as she was blending my $9 smoothie, she motioned to the blender to "hurry up" with her hands and then loudly banged her hand on the counter (so as to make the blender work faster?). It was extremely irritating. I regretfully boycotted them while ago because of many similar customer service issues (ie, Registers were down and a very sweet cashier needed help, as a woman appearing to be a manager walked by. Upon asking the woman for some help, this manager type gruffly responded, "I'm not on the floor" and continued to walk away from the situation), but recently started going back and then this happened. I honestly cannot get over how rude that staff is. Absolutely terrible. This is my first review, too. It is such a shame. read more

On 11/18 I placed an order for 4 boxes of low acid coffee sold by Better Health. I received notification of the order and the product showed as "In Stock". As of 11/25 I had not received the order so went back and checked the web site and the order still showed "Pending". I emailed Better Health ( who advertised a quick response time) to check the status. On 11/28 I had not received a response so I called their offices and left a voice mail. As of today 12/1, I am still waiting for someone to get back to me regarding this order. When shopping at the Hall Road store, I have always had great service and met with friendly staff. Unfortunately, they did not have the coffee on my last visit. I would rate the store 5 stars but the ordering department falls well short of that. read more

This is the largest Better Health Market store that I have been to. The atmosphere is very nice. I went with my mother to pick up a special salmon dish that she ordered. I think they are over priced as I can find the same items at vitacost.com for a fraction of the price. However if you need it now, it's a great resource and the customer service is great. It took me years to discover this store. I work about 1/2 mile away but drive by it everyday. A co-worker suggested we go for lunch and now I go all of the time. They have a great soup/salad bar. Several types of lettuce with lots of choices for toppings. The ingredients are always fresh and the staff does a nice job to keep them stocked. I will say they could use a little more variety on the dressings though. At least use a couple of different brands. I'm not sure who's back there making soup but it's awesome everytime. They have this tomato bisque with chese tortellini that I just die over. They are a bit expensive for lunch ($10 for soup and salad) but I do walk away satisfied each time. Ok so it's not cheap but I can't remember the last speciality health store I walked into that was cheap. I don't shop here for value I shop here for quality, speciality and sometimes difficult to source product. Picked up some great freeze dried organic snacks for our 10month old as these are a saviour for travelling and all other typical kids snacks in the USA in standard stores are jam packed with sugar, and all sorts of other additives and nasties. Really surprised to be honest at what goes into kids snacks here compared to home. Grabbed some Kombucha, fresh blueberries for the bub and some Fiji water. Not doing the supermarket shopping here but for a large scale health food shop it was great for us read more

In my opinion, this store has gone downhill. I have gone twice in the last 2 weeks and cannot find what I want. Also, the salad bar was full of wilted selections and the section next to the food bar, had some expired packaged ready to eat foods ! I was looking for gluten free frozen pies by Maine Pie Company, I always get them here. Also shows on the website they are here, but they are not.
