My BF and I came here for the first time and not only was the ambiance nice with old music and clean place but the service was amazing! They were kind and let us take our time, and even joked back and forth a little bit. The food and the prices were amazing, you can really tell the cook puts his heart into what he makes! My bf and I really enjoyed everything he got the pastrami Reuben and I got the chive and cheese eggs, the bread was soft, and the fries were delicious. I ordered a Sausage Egg and cheese on a toasted roll. Side order of small hash browns. The total was 9 Dollars. Ouch!!!! There was a very burnt sausage ,1 piece for the whole sandwich. And the sandwich only had 1 egg on it. The roll was never toasted. The Hash Browns were cold and soggy with oil. Maybe the worst breakfast sandwich I ever had! I don't mind if you charge me 9 dollars but please make a kick ass sandwich.No pride in your food and business! But instead you give me this.I will never be back.. .So sorry ,but I believe ownership should hear the truth so they can fix the problems.. I've been coming here for 18 years ! I've also gone to other bagel shops all around New Jersey ! This is the BEST bagel shop with the freshest bagels around ! My favorite is the sesame. The breakfast platter with two eggs , meat of choice, butter bagel , and their signature potato's thinly sliced and fried is also a classic go to ! Everyone I bring here loves it ! Went here for a bagel and cream cheese and paid cash. They now have a sign up that says ALL transactions have a 2.99% processing fee....even cash....I've never seen that on cash and to me that's pure greed. If operating costs have gone up that's understandable just raise your prices, but marketing it as a processing fee even in cash doesn't seem right. It should be a 2.99 processing fee on credit cards not cash. As a long time lover of their bagels I will be finding a new bagel shop where I can pay cash and not pay a processing fee. Listen, if you get the right menu item. You can't beat the price here. I got a chicken cheesesteak which came with potatoes, a pickle and macaroni salad all for only $5.99. It was delicious. my boyfriend got the buffalo chicken wrap, it was great and came with the same sides all for $5.99. I had an everything bagel one time it was okay, I would just stick to their sandwiches and wraps honestly. You really can't beat that price. There's ample parking and seating too. read more

This place has horrible service! Avoid at all costs. I haven't been here in 20 something years and moved back into town. My partner and friends are going away for the weekend and I thought to go here in and get bagels since the other stores in the area are lacking. I was greeted by a boy in a red shirt and an accent laughing at me to cops. I said Good Morning, and may I get a couple of mix bagels in a bag, and one raisin bagel. Very rude the worker in front of everyone, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN MIX?" I said any bagel you want. After that I asked for a tub of cream cheese. The worker showed me a medium size, I asked, "May I have a bigger one?" He goes, "A BIGGER ONE!!!?!!" I said yes Im feeding a bunch of friends right now, what is the issue?" He goes, "Well you are the one who is paying." WHAT?!! I said this is very unprofessional and left. What a nightmare of a bagel shop. I went somewhere else instead. No wonder no-one goes here. I tried this place twice and had two completely different things so the playing field of this review is pretty even. My coworker said this lunch place was ok and we wanted to try something different so we stopped in for lunch. A few patrons and workers, not too busy for lunch. I tried the cheesesteak special basically was just a dry, tasteless cheesesteak and was not good. They served it with fried sliced potatoes, like a italian french fry you would cook with eggs and peppers, those were decent. The second trip I had a Taylor ham, egg and cheese and it tasted it a lot better but later on that day I got sick, I can't pin it to that sandwich but I will say I never really get sick, let alone from food and I didn't eat anything else that whole day. Prices and people are fine. I hate the parking lot too, it's like a death trap pulling in and out and just a bad setup. Overall not great and I will not be back for a third time. read more

This place is great. The food is great, and you'll never run out of choices from the extensive menu. And anyone who thinks the service is poor, is off base. I have never seen the employees be anything but friendly and professional. The only time I've ever witnessed anything even approaching attitude from any staff is when customers act like an ass. My #1 bagel 'go to' when I'm in Jersey! Now that I live in Phx I make a beeline to Better on a Bagel every time I go back to NJ. Yes, Jersey knows their bagels, but this place goes above and beyond a bagel shop, with their breakfast specials -- which include delicious fried-to-perfection potato coins -- and their lunch specials which are even better. For breakfast, you know I always order the taylor ham, egg and bagel special :) For lunch I always go for a special. Apparently the owner does not need or want my business anymore. I walked in Friday morning about 7AM, there was one customer leaning on the pole and the owner was over the register, punching numbers. I nodded to the leaning guy and stepped to the register and said "Hello" to the owner. No response, not even a look up, then a quick glance, said nothing and then he turned around and went through the left double doors. I, thinking he may not have heard me waited 5 minutes, maybe to order, maybe to confront him on his rudeness, as my fuse was lit, but he never came back out, no one came back out. Since I was on my way to work with limited time, I left and took my business to a different store. Sad, as I have been going here for a few years, at least 4 times a month for a breakfast sandwich. All my dealing have been with the employees, who are friendly and make a passable taylor ham sandwich. However, I will not give money anymore to a rude unprofessional owner. If your business is not attaining the profits you desire, get a mirror and take a real, long, hard look, the problem lies within yourself. Do the area a favor, sell the business to your employees. I eat the same thing every weekend so I can't really review the menu with honest input boring eater lol. If I do change it up I have two go to items so still can't say much. It's always good, the wait is never bad but the parking id's not the best but not their fault. Place is old but clean makeover would not hurt. Staff is always friendly and the young ones behind the counter sometimes make me laugh but hey they are working for living. It's usually the same main guy always and he is fine, just get to know him. Biggest problem is they run out of bagels and the selection becomes slim pickings as it gets later. They don't make micro batches of a dozen because when it's out, they are gone. Ok, so parking stinks. 5 businesses have to share like 10 spots. The staff keeps the place clean, but it needs a facelift. The place looks a little old. Tables and chairs are on their last leg (pun intended). And it could use a woman's touch. Kenny, who handles the front area, is fan friggin tastic! He's fast! And even when it's busy, he doesn't lose his mind and remains pleasant and funny. However, my order is frequently wrong. I basically order one kind of breakfast sandwich, taylor ham and egg on a round roll, salt, pepper, ketchup. I very often get a sandwich with cheese, and I joke with the staff about it, but they know me now and still the order is wrong. The food (when it's right) is good. Nothing stands out. It's a bagel and sandwich joint. It's a small place so my advice is to order to go, but, check for that cheese, lol. Went back again because I was in the area with the same co-worker. Very disappointed. I wanted cracked pepper turkey and American cheese on a bagel. They were out of cracked pepper turkey. I than ordered a smoked turkey and American cheese, no mayo, on a plain bagel. I received a turkey and American on a roll swimming in mayo. I know I told him at least 2 or 3 times I wanted it on a bagel. When he rang me up, he accidentally rang me up as $112.00.
