Messaged Total Piano Care and tried to get them to come out before the concert the same day and fortunately there was enough time in between clients to squeeze us in. Came by and was extremely polite and professional, examined the piano, answered all of my relevant and not so relevant questions thoroughly and thoughtfully, and saw the problem was minor and got the piano working for the concert! Watching him work, there was no doubt he was extremely familiar with the Steinway and worked with many Steinway Grands. Knew about all of the things that were wrong and recommended a few minor repairs to prevent further damage. So happy it worked out with Total Piano care. Great communication and caring too! Schrager gave me a worse case scenario price so I felt confident knowing financially what I was getting myself into. I really appreciated his clear upfront pricing. He also was great about sending his availability. I booked a date then switched it and then switched it back. He was very accommodating and it was very easy to schedule via text. Next is that this man is a professional. He showed up early and with shoe covers. Whenever anyone shows up to my house with shoe covers, that is already a great first impression. We were off to awesome start. It just shows how considerate they are coming into your home. Now the piano tuning. I've never seen a piano being tuned before so it was interesting to see how he had an iPad he used as he worked to tune each key. While having a full on hour conversation with me. He was very relatable and I honestly felt like I just had a family friend over. When he was done he played some beautiful music. I wasn't sure how having our piano tuned would go. He spent over 2 hours with the piano, making this newly inherited heirloom sing again to make my grandma proud. He was very honest, and did not upsell me or even try to. In fact, I tried to upsell him and asked about a cleaning since this piano had been sitting for a few decades. He said it was in excellent condition, and his mantra was "If it's not broke, don't fix it," which I really appreciated. He also explained every step of the process, and used a tool that allowed me to watch him as he tuned it. I could see how when he first came it was really out of pitch and tune on the app, and then when he did the full tuning I could watch the symbol on the app go into the tuned position. He was also a really nice, courteous guy. He took off his shoes on our new carpet. He never asked me to leave a review, and I'm glad I went with him. I'm definitely going to use him again.
