Decent happy hour spot in Upper Queen Anne so parking is easy. The happy hour runs between 430-545 pm and has a decent variety of foods, such as tacos, salmon, fries, salad, muscles, oysters on a half shell, and beer/ wine/ Manhattan. The happy hour was about $9 for food and $5 for a beer. So not too crazy in prices. The food is decent, nothing crazy special about the food. Service was nice and the area has dim lighting, good atmosphere. I'd def go back here again for happy hour, dinner is a bit pricey for what the food is. Had quite a lovely experience at Betty. They made room for a large party of us (7) fairly last minute. Service - everyone was SO friendly. Like, insanely friendly. But our waiter confused us a lot when describing or clarifying things. But he was SO friendly. Food - had a Bibb Lettuce Salad with Peaches and Cherries, Vegetarian Summer Squash Risotto, and a S'mores Ice Cream Pie dessert. (Also tried a green salad they brought by mistake.) The Bibb Lettuce Salad was by far the standout. The Risotto was a touch boring...I think they tried to make it interesting by using a smoked Gouda, but it was just fine. I'd return just for that salad though. My companions had halibut they said was cooked very well, ribs that were reported to be delicious, and some other things I can't quite recall... I write this review with mixed emotions. Having lived in Queen Anne for six years, loyally patronizing its restaurants has been important to us. Along the way, among our circle of friends, we have a few who LOVE Betty. They rave about the food and have nothing but good things to say about the wait staff. These good folks dine there once a week, typically on the weekends. We have really wanted to, at the very least, like this restaurant! But recently, after our 6th visit, we've simply failed to understand the unconditional love. The wait staff: perhaps we've expected too much based on our friends lavishing about how great they are. Perhaps they're lucky enough to get the owners/management to wait on them who will naturally provide top-notch service. We have witnessed that asking after their children is always a sure-fire way to get an otherwise over-tired server to treat you right. But we don't know them as well as our friends do and frankly, don't think we should have to chat them up about their kiddos to get friendly, attentive service. On our own, their attitude seems to be laissez-faire--sort of "it's after 8 pm, we're tired and because we've been so busy thus far due to our ongoing popularity, we don't see the need to act perky or that we really even care." Psst: Their open kitchen layout doesn't allow them much privacy to say, snicker about the guy at the end of the bar because he mis-pronounced the wine he ordered for his wife. We'd like to call out a certain server by name, but doubt our review will be posted if we do so: His name starts with an R, he's typically behind the bar and our friends--and even other staff--have conceded that yes, "he has a silver tongue". But the sketchy service he managed to provide and snotty interaction with us was simply appalling, it was all we could do not to whip out our phones and record him. Now for the most important: The food. No, it's not horrible, but it's not what it's not nearly what it's hyped to be either. From the regular menu: Lasagna: A friend kindly gave me what she'd taken to-go and I was so excited to take it home and eat it. It was edible, but rather salty and lacked the imagination they describe in the description on the menu. I'm no great cook, but I could do better. Steak & frites: The frites are the best thing about it. The steak is purportedly a 16 oz choice grade ribeye. We found it to be a blob of fatty meat. I was turned on to Betty because 1 night I was craving rib eye and called out a friend to see of he wanted to join us for dinner at another well known Seattle steakhouse establishment. He recommended Betty for half the price! So we were off to Betty on Queen Anne. It was a Saturday night, without reservations, duh! Isn't that how cravings always happen? Anyway, we found ourselves at the bar, which is my preferred seating area. Surprisingly it was not busy in the bar, but that would soon change, as the night progressed it was filling with regulars. The bartenders were really cool and entertaining, plus they made great food recommendations! Transition to food: we shared a white salad as recommended by the bartender. It was light, crisp and refreshing! It had fennel, celery, apples, Parmesan cheese topped with anchovies. We still dream about that salad! For our meal I had the rib eye (medium rare) and frites and it satisfied my cravings! My hubby had the slow cooked duck with pork belly, which was fatty, moist, salty and oh so good! And dessert! There's always room for dessert! We had the pear tart, it was a bit more crusty than I would like, but it was sweet with a bit of tartness and the vanilla ice cream was a great accompaniment. Food, drinks, service, and an awesome owner (Angie) who is ever present make Betty the neighborhood restaurant my go-to for all things good. The mussels are cooked to perfection served in a wine, butter reduction with some aromatics. The chicken dinner entree is also cooked well. It's served with veg and garlic mashed potatoes. It's dependable comfort food that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy and ready for a nap. The charcuterie board is simple, but it's satisfying. It comes with marcona nuts, salami, and a variety of olives. Happy Hour: Our favorite happy hour snack is the carne asada tacos! They are perfect little snack bites that are delicious and worth playing paper/rock/scissors for the third taco as opposed to sharing. Also on happy hour are $25 bottles of wine. Drinks are great here. They have a full bar and can make whatever you want fairly quickly. We have never been disappointed. The service is always fabulous. I love Angie, the owner. She is always around. She's constantly swamped running this establishment but she never fails to stop by and say hello to my husband and I. She fosters a laid back vibe in an upscale restaurant that could be snooty. The people that work at Betty seem to like each other and enjoy the job. It's nice to see that - and it makes a difference in how we view the ambiance. We like to hang out here and play cards or cribbage because we know Angie is cool with it. This is a cute little Queen Anne Bistro. The menu is small and concise but there is something for everyone. We started with cocktails on the patio since it was SO lovely out. No one else ventured to the patio so we had it to ourselves. Inside is small so can be loud so the outside was very nice to enjoy a dirty martini that was expertly mixed. Food wise we started with the rustic baguette and the cheese plate which was nicely presented. I had the fish du jour which was halibut and delicious. I split it with my friend and we also had the market salad. All done quite well. Flavorful and fresh as you would expect in the NW. I came here for happy hour with a friend and it's seriously awesome deals! Oysters were average at $2 each, but everything else on the happy hour menu is priced at $4-6.. steals! It's good food too. We got a few oysters, the smoked salmon carpaccio, short ribs, bruschetta and clams with tomato broth. My friend and I enjoyed the smoked salmon and the clams the most - both of which were like normal sized appetizers.. and delicious! The bruschetta and short ribs were a little smaller, but still yummy and a good deal for the price. We also tried a dessert off the regular menu because it sounded too good - s'mores crème brulee! It was a fun, chocolatey variation of one of my favorite desserts, but be warned it's decent sized and pretty rich, so it's a good idea to share. Solid four stars for good food, great prices. This unassuming gem sits atop Queen Anne hill right on the Ave. Betty's was sublime. Our server, John, was friendly quick to off excellent suggestions for our personal tastes.. This place is humming. Glad we arrived at 5:30 as we were attending a concert down at Key Arena. The wait staff was very attuned to concert crowds and got our dinner in a perfect amount of time. Their sister reataurant, Crow, from what I hear is the go to spot for pre-concert events but Betty's top of the hill location is a great out of the way option with easier free parking and just a quick $2.50/person bus ride to Key Arena. Okay, the food was delicious. I shared the golden beet salad with my sister in law and my entree was the mushroom tagliatelle. Just the best! My hubby and others ordered the chicken which they needed 1/2 hour to roast. It was also delicious with every bite consumed. We lika this hot spot and will be back! read more

After an afternoon at Seattle Rep to see Sherlock Holmes we headed up to Queen Anne for happy hour and dinner. We came in about 45min before our reservation and happy hour was just in the bar/lounge area. We got a couple glasses of wine and chatted a bit before we were seated at our table. All wines are $6/glass during happy hour. Betty offers some nice dishes and other food options; the food is creative and fresh. My boyfriend loved the roasted chicken! I liked my ricotta stuffed tortellini with mushrooms. For $20 it would have been nice to have more than 7 tortellini, but it was tasty and light. We had great service and a good meal. read more

Sorry Betty... but you ain't worth the $$. I just moved 1 block away... so I was hoping to love this place but I just cant get on board. I think the only people who can rave about Betty are ones who have been coming here for years. Nothing special about this place or the food. From the basic menu, I wasn't expecting much to be honest. Was just hoping for solid tasty food with a neighborhood vibe. $115 bucks later for 2 entrees and 2 beers... I was sadly disappointed. Is the food terrible? No. Is the service terrible? No. But is it worth the price tag, absolutely not. Its just plain jane and I'd rather take my money elsewhere. $21 lasagna... probably not worth it but I liked Crow (which was their sister restaurant and their recipe) so I went for it. Didn't event know lasagna could be dry... but it happened. And the basic tomato sauce which pooled around my dry lasagna - honestly tasted like it was out of a jar. I most definitely could make a better batch at home. Where's the flair? BF ordered the ribeye. Was never asked how he wanted it cooked so we flagged the server down and was told they come medium rare unless requested otherwise... ok great, exactly what he wanted. But did it come med rare? Nope. Medium at best. I may sound bitter, and I'm sorry if so. This place is not bad, it's just basic. So if you just want diner level food at double the price, come on in. My go-to spot for any occasion Monday thru Sunday. Food is good, prices reasonable, same staff is always friendly and the ambiance is formal or casual however you make it. If alone you can dine at bar or counter, male or female equally comfortable. If on a date you can dine at the open kitchen, booth bar or outside patio (faces west!). Foodies and locals come here. On Mondays it's good spot for chillin', dining and watching football on the only reasonably sized tv (not obnoxiously enormous and volume if OFF...thank you!). 20 for $20 wine bottle nite is good start to the week (sun thru tues). read more

We called a few hours ahead for a Saturday night reservation and got in without issue. Ordered the Ribeye steak & hand cut frites which was truly wonderful. Finished our delicious meal with the dulce de leche ice cream and the chocolate torte. We just returned to the neighborhood after a 4 year experiment with the Eastside. Betty was and remains our favorite local restaurant. The food is excellent! I'm a big fan of the steak and frites, roasted chicken and the Betty Burger. I'm a bigger fan of the service and atmosphere; especially in the bar area. It's extremely casual. You can comfortably read a book and be left alone or easily strike up a conversation. Angie who is a co-owner and occasionally tends bar is incredibly friendly and professional. While we're in the midst of Stay Home Stay Healthy, we've been able to order takeout. The staff had done a nice job in transitioning from a dine-in establishment to takeout. Food is yummy! They are running weekly specials with new menu items. We loved the chicken pot pie meal which included carrot cake for desert! Ask them to pair a reasonably priced wine with your dinner. They have taken ample precautions to keep everyone healthy when picking up their food. read more

Without a reservation and no facial recognition by the staff, Betty appears pretty difficult to score a good table. Came here for a second visit. The place was about 30% filled but the hostess said most tables and booths were reserved except for the lounge in the back. This was according to her the quietest place in the restaurant - with the TV going, the music trying to compete and other patrons engaged in conversation. When we left an hour and a half later, three booths and two good tables were still empty in the front. The food was very good - chicken for the main and a soup as starter. Limited draft beers. Giving 2 stars rather than the zero that were earned tonight as I have had literally dozens of amazing meals at both Betty and Crow over the last 15-ish years BUT tonight's experience has made me decide that I won't be returning to Betty any time soon. The food was great - as always - but it just is not enough to warrant the dreadful "customer service" that we received from the hostess (who is apparently also the manager). My husband, 21 month old son, and I came into the restaurant just before 7 PM after seeing ample reservations open on open table. We asked for a table for 3 and we're told that they were "all booked up" with reservations. Wild since literally every time slot had openings on open table when we left Magnolia but OK. My husband said that if they didn't want us there, we should just leave but I wanted to prove a point - so I made a reservation for 3 at 7:15 directly outside the restaurant and walked right back in with a reservation. At that point the hostess indicated that it wasn't that they were all booked up with reservations but rather that they were understaffed; that it hadn't been anything about our party (like our *well behaved * toddler who dines out 2-3 times a week - and has literally been a model diner at Michelin star restaurants, or the fact that we were wearing athletic apparel) that had resulted in their refusal to seat us. Sure. I would suggest that if you are actively accepting reservations via open table, rather than lie to customers about your lack of tables, you be upfront about your staffing issues and allow them to decide how they would like to proceed. (OR TURN OFF SAME DAY RESERVATIONS ON OPEN TABLE.) If customers catch you in a blatant lie - like we did - about why you refuse to seat them, they will come to their own conclusions about why you made such a decision. Looking at reviews for this restaurant, I can see that at least one other references this same issue - it appears that rejecting walk-in customers while actively accepting reservations on Open Table is standard practice for Betty. I should also note that while I made a "standard seating" reservation, they initially wanted to put us outside. I declined and indicated that I would wait until 7:15 for my "standard table" so they seated us indoors immediately at one of several open tables. Also service was just as quick (honestly, probably a bit quicker) as usual and 25-50% of the indoor tables were empty while we were there. The Crow lasagna was as good as ever but certainly not good enough to warrant a trip to a restaurant that has made it crystal clear that they do not want you there. If you still choose to come to Betty, I would strongly recommend booking a reservation prior to showing up - no matter how many open tables they have - given their host's questionable (and quite possibly discriminatory) practices around seating. read more

I've been going here since they opened. Until recently I would have given five stars. The food is consistently very good...sometimes even excellent. The Chef has a great dedication for seasonal ingredients. (halibut, chicken, shaved asparagus salad all 5/5 last night) The service is consistently good. They used to be known for keeping their staff for years. Always a good sign. More turnover recently..but isn't that the norm? Their "craft" cocktails are generally tasty. Three strikes last night, though: 1) They used to pour a good drink. Last night was laughably stingy. Like Utah or T-mobile park stingy. 2) I asked the server and the manager what had changed and was effectively gaslighted "...it's always been like this...etc." Umm no. 3) On the bill they now bury a credit card service charge notice. For people of a certain age (me) it is almost impossible to see without bright light and reading glasses. We know and trust this place. We always just give them the card, tip them nicely and away we go. But now an additional 3.5%+/- shows up. What percentage of patrons pay with cash? 10% maybe? We will start bringing cash I guess. read more

Okay seriously, the Pan Roasted Chicken; is pure money. Tonight, I was on my way to 5 Spot, after failing to find a restaurant in Belltown. Upon parking basically in front of the restaurant, I noticed across the street, Betty. I didn't even know it existed, but I figured it was worth a try. In Seattle, you almost can't go wrong, and this was oh so right. It's a simple place, bar on one side, restaurant on the other. No comfy cushions, just wood tables, and wood chairs, booths are hard, but you easily get past all that, when you get your food. I had trouble ordering, couldn't decide, but after initially thinking about the burger, I decided on the Chicken. Some places can go bad on chicken, however; I was blown away, it was juicy, cooked perfectly, with a great crunch on the skin, and sitting on mashed potatoes with I believe were roasted garlic segments. Easily removable, if unwelcomed; on my plate, very much welcome. I normally go to 5 Spot for my comfort food fix, but if they continue to serve the Pan Roasted Chicken, then there is no doubt that I will be back for it, and to try the rest of the menu options. read more

Betty is cute and intimate. With dim lighting and half bench-seating, friends and partners look like they're in their own little worlds, sharing secrets that no one else can hear. My friends and I came for dinner prior to heading off to a show. To our pleasant surprise, we made it during HH so we were able to peruse the HH menu as well as the regular menu. We shared some clams (well-seasoned with flavorful broth), scallops (sweet and tender), fried cheese curds (crispy), and fries while others ordered full entrees. Everything we ate was solid; nothing extraordinary or out-of-the-box creative, but still really good. Our group had a great time and service was awesome. I wouldn't hesitate to come back. read more

Came for the first time during Seattle Restaurant Week. Didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us (2) immediately. The place is a bit dim for my liking but it definitely projects a romantic ambience. I would recommend this place for a date night. I ordered the soup of the day which was creamy asparagus, got the pork tenderloin with roasted carrots, kale, and fingerling potatoes with a tzatziki sauce. Everything cooked to perfection with amazing flavor combinations. The vegetables was spiced with cumin I believe. For dessert I got the banana cream pie with real bananas in it. It was light and heavenly. They had a special for $20 for 20 different bottles of wine. Didn't feel like drinking that night but a good deal to take advantage of. I am definitely wanting to come back. Service was great! My waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. I think everything is reasonably priced and the quality backs it up. read more

Already can't wait to go back here. Extremely reasonable prices for great portions and delicious food! Salads - yum! The sardine salad was really good for any of you who like that! Nicely grilled sardines that went really well with the apple slices, frisee lettuce, and citrus dressing. The mixed green salad has a great dressing too and is simple but refreshing. I usually don't order chicken at restaurants but I heard it was really good so I gave it a whirl. WOAH. So good!! Perfectly cooked - seriously. I might not be opposed to ordering chicken anymore. Loooved the potato puree and the brussels sprouts that came with it. Make sure to order some bread to soak up the sauce at the bottom too :) I got to try a bite or two of the pork and the scallop entrees as well - also amazing! Unfortunately we were all too full for dessert, but I'll make that happen next time. I thought this place sucked. A family member suggested it, now I really don't much like Queen Anne to begin with, but am always willing to check out a decent restaurant. The bar was nice, and I had a decent drink and will give them that(which is why they avoided one star). Reservations were made in advance, it was a weekend night if memory serves, a Friday or Saturday, and that is always dicey......but they put five people at a table for four, and when I spoke to the Manager, he said, "often people like to get closer to each other, so they can share plates". At that point, I was ready to leave. The food was not memorable.....average at best, and expensive. My mother took care of the bill, and paid what she thought was a fair tip(service was lacking, to say the least)....and the tip amount was changed by the server. My mother had to go around with her credit card company for a while before it got straightened out. Do yourself a favor, and avoid Betty like the mediocre, snooty, hipster restaurant that it wants to be. read more
