I just left disappointed. I ordered two gyro meals and a chicken pita. Nowhere on their menu does it say that they serve Pepperchinis on the side or in their meal. My husband is deathly allergic , even just the juices from the pepper can cause a reaction. I took the food in and just asked for it to be remade. The manager came out , very rude and asked what the problem was. I explained to her the situation. She told me "you should of said that " and angrily walked away with the food slamming it on the back counter. AGAIN, nowhere does it state that they serve these peppers. I ended up getting a refund. Betty came out to greet my sister in law and me, and Matthew our server was super courteous. The restaurant was really clean, but not a lot of ambiance. The food makes up for it though! The food was amazing! It was authentic and delicious. I got an entree with chicken and beef, and gyro combo sandwich. They were both good but I was gravitating more towards the sandwich. I had some fancy lamb kabobs in LA and it was very good. I got back home and wanted to try some local and found this gem hole in the wall mom and pops restaurant. Very good and enjoyed the beef more than the lamb. Both were very good. I will definitely come again. read more

Tried it today using DoorDash to order takeout. As mentioned by another reviewer, the decor wasn't impressive, but the restaurant was clean. The staff was very friendly. I had the chicken barg, skewer of lamb, and the beef & lamb gyro. Bad: the chicken was definitely dry and a little bland. Good: The carved lamb and beef gyro was fantastic! The meat was juicy, tender, and seasoned well. The lamb skewer was also very flavorful. Overall: I will definitely go back for the lamb and beef gyros. I was so excited to try this place as they are somewhat new. We arrived at 7:30 and they close at 8. They were reluctant to let us dine in, but said ok if we take our food in a to-go container. We said ok. Then 5 minutes later we told we could NOT eat our food and MUST take it home. I can not, for the life of me, understand why a new restaurant would give me the bums rush out. This is the best place in Modesto and the 209 area for all your Kabob needs! Came in looking for the classic options and instead found myself endulging I'm their chicken soltani. I just had the Kabob and chicken and both of them tasted very nasty!!!!!! The Kabob had the consistency of a rubber band and the flavor was very nasty. The chicken looked good but had zero flavor. Zeeeero stars. After coming to George's Burger for years we decided to try "Betty's Kebab" or whatever the new name is. Ordered a lamb plate and a chicken plate for dinner. What we ended up getting was 5 smalllllll pieces of (burnt) meat on each plate and about 2 pounds of rice, a roasted tomato, a roasted jalapeño, and a side of "vegetables", which according to whomever was answering the phone when we called to complain, should have made up for the LACK OF FOOD. For the two dinners the total was $22. A COMPLETE rip off and huge disappointment considering how much we loved George's Burger (the previous owners). Do yourself a favor and just don't. read more

Betty's kabob has one of the most amazing kabob plates I have ever tasted (and I've been eating middle eastern food all my life). The chicken is so juicy, flavorful and grilled to perfection. The presentation of food is also amazing. My family and I frequent here and we are never disappointed with the food. Also, the service is nothing like I have seen before. Hands down worst gyros. Who puts lettuce in a gyros sandwich btw? That said the lettuce was so old it was browning. The gyros wasn't cooked either, besides the browning from the spinning machine. Don't go here. I bought a kabob plate as well. All rice barely any meat. Not good tasting either. Try filling people up with just rice and bread. read more
