If you're looking for a great experience for your children or grandchildren, I highly recommend Betty's trail rides located near Lake Pleasant. Betty took the time to instruct my granddaughters, who had never ridden a horse, on how to ride and how to behave around the horses. Then we went on an hour trail ride that was awesome. Their horses were so kind and gentle. Betty's trail rides. 928-925-2488 rbj335@msn.com

Not the fanciest place BUT That is no problem with me! Infact it adds to charm Gorgeous views along the ride Chances to see Cacti, Donkeys, Road Runners and Military Jets It was beautiful with 0 hassle from anyone Our guide was a stand up man who was very polite Welcoming friendly and Prolly the most Western Man I will ever meet in my life If you Are reading this Betty and or Dave thank you for the Experience!

Such a fun time! Family owned and very relaxed. Me and my friends went for a birthday and had a great time! It's a slow ride but it's beautiful to enjoy. Our guide was super sweet and hands off which was nice. She road ahead and let us ride calling back to us if we needed help with our horses. I see a lot of people upset about the scale but that's for your own safety and the horses safety so no one gets hurt. Google maps doesn't work but to get you there the directions they send prior are perfectly clear! Will be back for sure (:

We purchased a Groupon and were so excited to go explore this area. After reading Betty's website we were hoping to get some good stories told to us on the ride. Nope, we got the grumpy guy (and Betty's niece who was nice). Trust me, I know grumpy...matter of fact my friend and I are grumps ourselves. Except the difference is you would never know it. We just both gave each other the ugh" look after first meeting him. He wasn't as bad towards the end but still not worth paying money to be around. Yes, we had to weigh in - that doesn't bother me. I'm glad they care about their horses. Horses were very easy to handle and had no issues. Yes, there is stuff at the stables but I could care less because the ride is out in the desert. Betty came to the property as we were leaving and seemed very nice. This would have been a lot better if the wrangler wasn't such a grump. Would I go again? Mmm, I'd make a special request for a different wrangler....then maybe.

Haven't been on a horse for a while so the hour long trail ride was good enough and was amazing and fun. Enjoyed the ride and wild, truly AZ terrain. The horses were friendly and well behaved. Saw some wild burros too. I thought the gentleman who was our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. He was sorry we didn't see more wildlife but I loved being out and on a horse again. Recommend as a fun time!

Do you want to know the best kept secret way behind Lake Pleasant? Look no further than Bettys Trail Rides. This little gem is an awesome horse riding experience through the beautiful Arizona Desert. The two cowboys who accompanied our ride were awesome! Very knowledgeable about the area and the many many plants and cacti. Highly recommend for families or a cool date adventure. Thank you Dave and Tread!!!

As I drive up I was shocked to see the entire place looked like a junkyard. Old abandoned mobile homes, piles of debris everywhere. My daughter picked up a small bag full of beer bottle caps while we were waiting. We were told to be 15 min early. One of our party was 10 min late and they kept saying they were going to cancel our ride. But it took them over an hour to get us on the horses. They made me get on a scale in front of everyone. It was humiliating. My friend walks with a cane and they loudly debated for at least 29 minutes whether they were going to let her ride. She was perfectly capable and had to argue with them but finally was able to take the ride. We had 3 young girls with us. The trail guide cussed the entire time. He dropped the F-bomb so many times I lost count. He barely spoke to any of us. Because it took them so long to get us on the horses they took us on a 20 minute ride on a very unimpressive trail. DO NOT waste your money. This place was not safe. The guide was terrible and Betty's 94 year old husband was our second guide. He did nothing but yell at everyone the entire ride. I would give this a ZERO rating if I could. I'll include a photo that you can see one of the broken down trailer - there were three plus broken down rotting vehicles and SO MUCH TRASH.

Beautiful morning ride. Thank you for a great experience! Tour guides were very nice. Cared about the overall safety of the rider.

From the moment we arrived, the…read morestaff welcomed us with genuine kindness and treated us as if we'd been part of the ranch for years. The ranch itself is a treasure--old and full of character, with history dating back to the 1940s. I loved wandering through the original buildings, admiring the authentic architecture and décor, and flipping through the photo albums filled with memories from decades past. The team here is absolutely outstanding. The cooks, Jesse and her husband Jeff, made every meal feel like it came straight from a family kitchen--comforting, delicious, and made with care. In the front office, Lisa was friendly, organized, and always ready with a smile or helpful suggestion. And the wranglers, Wendall and Ritch, were simply the best I've ever had the pleasure of riding with. Their knowledge, patience, and humor made every ride unforgettable, and Wendall's personality in particular was a highlight of the entire stay. Being tucked away in Wickenburg--the roping capital--meant that daily roping competitions were part of the experience, adding excitement and authentic cowboy culture to each day. The trail rides were scenic and peaceful, offering a perfect way to soak in the Southwest landscape. On top of everything else, the ranch doubles as a stunning venue for weddings and corporate events. With its history, charm, and warm-hearted staff, it's hard to imagine a more perfect setting. If you're looking for a genuine dude ranch experience filled with heart, history, and unforgettable people, this is the place.

It was quite a drive up to the ceremony area. 4 wheel drive vehicles only recommended just for that. We had an amazing dinner cooked/catered from the Flying E staff. Everything was so delicious: steak, salad, baked potatoes, corn, rolls, and there were plenty of drink options & hors d'ouvres before the meal. Funfetti & chocolate cupcakes, white cake, & carrot cake were the dessert options. There was dancing, cornhole to play, S'mores to make, and a log coaster branding station. This is a great place for weddings. Once it gets dark, it's hard to see to get out and it gets dusty but if you like a western theme, this is definitely your place!

She was flexible, accommodating, and genuinely committed to making our adventure special. I brought my two grandchildren along, and they had an absolutely wonderful time. The horses themselves were beautiful, healthy, and easy to ride--clearly well cared for and well trained. Our ride through the Prescott National Forest was nothing short of spectacular. As we followed Big Bug Creek and made our way deeper into the forest, both Phyliss and Janice shared an incredible wealth of knowledge. Their understanding of horses, combined with their deep appreciation for the area's history, made the experience unforgettable. We learned about the region's gold mining past, Native American history, early settlers, and even the geology, plant life, and wildlife that make this part of Arizona so unique. It was an education wrapped inside the best trail ride we've ever been on. Foothills Ranch offers far more than a simple horseback ride--it's a meaningful, memorable experience led by people who truly love what they do. I can't recommend it highly enough. Jim H

Nice scenic ride. Wish they would provide more instruction. My daughter had never been on a horse…read moreand they gave her no direction and when the dang horse started "grazing" in the trees and trying to brush her off by taking her through the trees, the guide said not to touch the reins or try to maneuver the horse out of the brush/trees and she would just "follow the herd" which was a bit ridiculous. She had no control over the horse, and was told not to try to gain any kind of control over her. She was told not to touch the reins, which was stupid he said she would be fine as long as the trail ride kept moving but then would stop to talk to everyone, and this horse would go off trail through the trees again and he would yell at her telling her not to touch the horses reins. He also told my mother in law that she had to kick her horse harder to make him go faster, but the horse was either lame or had an injury on his hoof and couldn't go faster probably because he was in pain. We hadn't noticed this until reviewing pictures I took while on the ride his hoof was bandaged up maybe from an abscess. My mother in law said I have been kicking him he isn't going any faster, and the guide said "you're meaning to tell me you have been on that horse for 30 minutes and know him better than me, and I've been around him for 3 years?! I guess we all learn something everyday don't we?! Ha!" It was a nice ride overall, just wished they gave some more instruction to first time, younger riders about how to ride a horse and not just sit on one. I used to barrel race and not having control of your horse and being told not holding the reins of a horse is just a dumb and dangerous idea honestly. They literally just put my daughter on a horse and didn't give any instruction. In hindsight this was my fault for putting her in that situation but it luckily went ok, and I'm glad she wore a long sleeve shirt and I tried to instruct her and she was able to back the horse up out of a tree, towards the end of the ride because I had to tell her not to listen to him grab the reins and pull that horse back! Great ride if you are an experienced rider, but I would advise against this for a newer or nervous rider.
