I always start with how the food is served before I add anything. After 2 bites ( which were good ) I drizzled a half laddle of Au Jus over the sandwich. The au jus elevated the flavor and it was Fantastic. There is a sauce table with lots of options for in house dinners and take out. I assume it's complementary as i just helped myself. The servings were not huge, but they were enough. The cheese sauce for the fries ($2.99) was a bit spendy, but it was good. I didn't like: 1)They expected customers to pay extra for their mayo/horseradish sauce. While .35 isn't much, and the lady working at the register gave me a tablespoon or so for free as I didn't ask about it until I'd already paid, it should come with the sandwich upon request. 2) the cook was sitting out front smoking when we arrived. I'm really hoping he washed his hands before cooking & starting to slice the mushrooms and that I just didn't see him. 3) there was a table cluttered with papers and a package of cigarettes at the front of the shop. We both have a lot of experience in the service industry, so I know how it feels to deal with difficult customers. But we weren't difficult! Nor was the restaurant busy. I don't understand why it seemed the employees were ANNOYED by our presence for placing a single order. The ambiance was extremely unwelcoming. I don't condone customers entering a service space and treating employees horribly on any day, and quite frankly, I did not have the time to confront the employees working the counter today. As someone who's worked in the service industry, all I can say is this about the employees' terrible attitudes today: if employees at this store continue greeting customers with impatient, crass, and annoyed attitudes, one day they will encounter the right customer with time to match that same energy.
