On a road trip down I35 we found this place just off the highway in a small strip plaza. Didn't know what to expect but did not want fast food. Conrad's is great. There are beer signs all over but don't let that fool you I had salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. The salmon was a generous portion and it was cooked to perfection. It came with a mustard sauce that I didn't think I'd like, but the flavor was really nice with the fish. There was gravy available for the mashed potatoes but I just had a little butter on mine. The veg was done on the grill and not overcooked, really tasty. SO had Tuscan Pasta with grilled chicken, artichoke, bacon and a cream sauce which he says was very good. So if you are hungry for real food and you are near Kearney MO, do give this place a try. Service was good, prices very fair. read more

I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and have to say; it was DELICIOUS! The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Mashed potatoes and gravy tasted homemade (I hate instant potatoes and canned gravy). The green beans were the best I have ever eaten!! Whole beans with just the right amount of bacon. Been here a couple of times. Being that there are zero places to go in Kearney it's pretty good. If I want ambience, sports watching, music or something like this then I'd drive to Liberty where there might be more options. Pretty cafeteria feeling on the service side. Bar is dated. But for a bite to eat, good food and friendly waiters then it's pretty fantastic. I'm not a messy burger kinda gal so when it said Smash burger I was like eh... but it comes however you want it and I liked mine with no sauce or cheese. It was yummy and so were the crispy fries. My mom had the same but ordered the works on it and she loved hers too! Just the way we liked it. Have had the Reuben here and I remember it was very good too. One of my hometown favs! Conrads, previously known as Stables, is one of my Kearney go-tos. Their happy hour has a mix of half priced speciality cocktails including their 816 Long Island ice tea, margaritas and old fashioned. Hopefully Marcy is behind bar, because she's amazing! Underwhelmed. Had fairly high expectations after reading several reviews. We stopped in because the place we wanted to visit was closed for lunch. This place has two entrances but you sort of have to figure that out for yourself. To the left is the bar. to the right is more family style. table and booth seating or bar if you choose. There is a slight stale smell inside. They have cloth napkins like a nicer restaurant but cracked plastic cups like a cheaper restaurant. dust on the walls and lights above the table. Sever "W" (i dont want to call her out by name) was professional but not warm, inviting or overly polite. Im not sure if she looked at our age and thought we were too young to be there. maybe she had been burned on tips in the past. (we are in our 30s but rest of clientele was much older). i just didnt feel welcomed by her at all. she never greeted us. Our food was good. my reuben was made wonderfully with thin slices of crisped corn beef. the horseradish mayo(?) was interesting. im still not sure if thats what it was. My husband ate all his chicken fried chicken. the sweet potato fries were quite delicious. The dessert was very good and large size. Mens bathroom smelled like dirty mop water and the women's smelled like sewer. They have a decent kids menu also. Overall the food tasted good. we were not unhappy but not impressed for the price with the overall feel and cleanliness of the place. for the prices and ambiance they seem to be seeking i would try to up the server game and cleaning a bit more. the carpet was dirty. has stains and visible food on it everywhere. Salad had HUGE chunks of inedible cucumber with its waxy skin still on. looked like an after thought or a hack job. salad was very disappointing. no effort at all. read more

In response to manager's response... 1. Posting 5 days later makes talking to anyone void because they wouldn't remember my order. 2. The server that took my order forgot about me! Someone came and inquired about what my order was and had to bring me my food. 3. Hallowed out, crunchy fries are old fries! They are left over fries and not fresh. The fries I received were not hot and were old, crunchy, brown hollowed out greasy brownish old fries! 4. Unless YOU personally saw the fries, I don't appreciate you coming on here stating I received anything different. I've had take out fries from Liberty that were better, warmer and fresher. I know the difference. You obviously do not! Your restaurant failed and you just need to accept it, apologize, and do better! Stop the lies because customers deserve the truth when we are paying $30 for burgers and fries. Your restaurant will not stay open if you keep serving old fries, dine in OR carry out ... Our Server was great and food was awesome! Went two night in a row while there and had cold drinks and watched the Royals.

Very disappointed, was renamed due to the owners have another property named the same. Since the name change they have tore down the outside deck and no more bike nights . The service was very slow and lacking to say the least. Will not return, however the food was good so sad . read more

Eat here twice while in town due to the first time being so great. But I must say the second time was so very disappointing. I order the Hot chicken sandwich the first time which was good but if you can't handle heat don't get it. The following week I went in again and had the fish and chips due to my work mate getting them the first time and they looked delicious. Mine on the other hand were very bad, not even close to what was ordered the week before. Mine were very small pieces of fish and very very greasy. If I was from there or if I come back I will not be eating there due to the major inconsistency of the place. Should have taken a picture but was to disappointed to think about that. read more

This is only to regards to the Conrad's in Kearney, MO. We have given it 3 attempts to get things right, sadly it is still lacking. The food has been room temperature each time we have been there, and last time the order was completely wrong. The first time, the appetizer never showed up, second time the food and service were horrible, and last week both of our orders were wrong. There is no way - "no cheese" is that hard to leave off. This means, for some reason the person can not eat it. Scraping off ... no thanks. The waitress apologized and said ' they have gotten things wrong all night in the kitchen' Well someone should check these things before the food comes out. Or, the waitress needs to show up before you've had your food for 10 minutes and it's wrong. For $70 we will go someplace else! read more

My wife and I ate there this past Monday. I recommend the rock house shrimp. It is almost identical to bang bang shrimp and less Spicy. Very good. My wife had the salmon. I tasted it and it too was very good. I had the kids cheeseburger and fries and it was similar to town topic. Service was really good. Folks were polite, attentive and were genuine. Despite Stables being local, we had never been there. When I saw they offered curbside pickup, we decided to give them a try. The short version is- our food was great, our pickup experience was not. The online ordering process was easy, and we quickly received our text about our pickup time. We were instructed to respond to the text when we arrived, which we did. When 10 minutes had passed, I called the restaurant, and using the automated system called the "Operator" 3 separate times, no one ever picked up. Assuming they must be busy (at 2:45 pm though?) we went in to pickup our order. They in fact, were not busy and nothing was said as we picked up our order to apologize for having to come in, etc. Will we try them again? Maybe, as I said, our food was really good and we like to support local. But very disappointed to have chosen them (and tipped generously) for curbside pickup, only to have to walk in and pickup inside. read more

Packed on a friday night, so we opted for an open seat on the patio, it was a beautiful evening so we didn't mind. However as Iowans we forgot about Missouri laws allowing smoking on patios at restaurants. It wasn't too bad, most guests were courteous and went out to the giant concert type area to smoke, but a few sat to let it linger. This review gets one star knocked off for this. The food. My meatloaf sandwich was awesome, truly one of the best I've had. The sweet potato fries were also prepared well and enjoyed. My wife went with the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders were large, juicy, and seasoned and cooked very well. Her fries were not good. A tad on the soggy side and very chewy, like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. I like onion rings and I knew theirs were like 3" thick onion rings, but I just didn't care for them at all. Mom had chicken and waffles that wasn't her favorite thing either. Rolled into town and hit up Yelp like always and landed on Stables. Walked right in sat myself at the bar and the tender came right over with a menu and took my drink order. They have several tv's and were playing a trivia game with a mc as well. I ordered the black and blue KC strip with Cole slaw and broccoli and it came out in a timely manner. The veggies were on point and the steak was cooked and flavored to perfection, it was more gristle than I thought it should be and that's the only reason for not 5 stars. Again cook temp and flavor was perfect and maybe it's the cut of steak and I expected too much I'm from Florida and we don't have a KC steak option anywhere but here so my expectation might have been wrong. Their picture of the braised beef on Facebook looks great, but it's not. It's not traditional braised beef either. It has cheap packaged gravy, not the traditional sauce. The bread was soaked to the point of being inedible goo. The mashed potatoes had the same packaged gravy and the green beans were straight out of the can. Really disappointed. Management didn't seem to care either. I told them I had good meals there in the past, so they responded with a comment and a laughing emoji. read more

My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner and we were both glad we did. The KC Strips were great! I added the shrimp with mashed potatoes and broccoli for my sides. I wouldn't hesitate to get the same thing again. The beer selection was also substantial. A lot of local brews available. My wife got the chocolate ganache (HOMEMADE!) to go and wouldn't share it because it was too good. Maybe next time we come through it will be for a weekend evening when they have a band playing in their beer garden. read more

Good American bar food. Love the atmosphere on the sports bar side of the restaurant. They do have a separate side if you prefer more of a cafe style for dining. Great place to come for sports games, or grab a beer with a buddy. They have a nice open patio area where they sometimes host live music, though haven't seen that for awhile, buts it's a great space. They served the steak sliced - which I love. It was cooked to perfection. The seasoning was great. But the Bleu Cheese Cream/Cabarnet Demi Glaze took it to a whole new level.
