Such a cool family owned bakery! What I love the most is there homemade donuts, wow, you don't know a donut until you've had theirs. I usually come here for coffee and donuts, but recently I tried a few other things on their menu. We brunch and ordered plenty, but the food missed the mark for me. The food gives heavy dinner food, made with not a drop of seasoning. I didn't feel the need to take images of the lack of flavor food. Checked out this breakfast and lunch restaurant in Beverly. It has a lot of the breakfast classics along with some plant based options. Beverly Bakery & Cafe was a lot better than we expected at first. Kind of in a not so impressive area to be honest. The atmosphere inside it though has a cozy feeling and the food was impressive with pretty big portions. Basically we were going to a few bars early when we saw this and thought to get something to eat first. It's in a kind of unassuming area with sketchy looking auto shops. The inside is a lot better though. Actually pretty impressed with it. Menu has lots of choices for any preference. Certainly one of the few great places for breakfast around here. It's about $13 for an entree which comes with a lot. Filling. I chose a hearty one, the Vegan Skillet. This has green peppers, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and zucchini. A lot packed into it. She got the French Toast. Made with soy milk. This comes topped with bananas or blueberries, good stuff. For sure we could go here again. It's closed Mondays. Great Breakfast Spot, but Outdoor Seating Has Its Challenges We dined as a group of nine and were able to find seating together outside, which was nice. However, it was a windy day, and leaves from the trees kept falling onto our food and drinks, which was a bit undesirable. The highlight of our meal was definitely the crème brûlée French toast--it was absolutely delicious! I would return just for this item. The restaurant offers something for everyone, including vegan and vegetarian options, which was great for our diverse group. We also loved the adorable cup that was served to the young person at our table who ordered milk--it added a cute touch. I can't believe I didn't take pictures to capture the experience! I have family that are vegan and they suggested this place. We ordered coffee for everyone and they were served and cute little cups. They were refilled very often. Plenty of coffee and cream. One of my sisters ordered the oatmeal pancakes for everyone in her family. My Dad ordered the Spanish omelette, my mom the strawberry waffle, one of my other sisters ordered the ham and cheese omelette. my other sister and I wanted to try different things and we shared our dishes. So I ordered the grilled veggie sandwich with hash browns and my little sister the cream brûlée French toast. Let me tell you, everyone was very delighted with their food. I was in heaven with my sandwich it had mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and a big piece of zucchini topped and some spinach, with mozzarella cheese!! The veggies were cooked in butter and on wheat bread. I highly recommend this sandwich. I bet they can adjusted for vegans. Also the French toast was supper extremely delicious. Omg. Best coffee shop/bakery I've been to in some time. When I tell you the service is AMAZING, and everyone is super friendly and helpful. Valerie was awesome. She let us sample different types of coffee before we settled on lattes and a French press of Ethiopian coffee. The creme brulee French toast was very good, as was the bananas foster pancakes. They also make wonderful muffins that they split in half and place on the griddle and butter up. Just delicious. The bakery itself isn't the largest, but it delivers a mom and pop feel. Beverly Bakery: I've been here many times, but haven't been in a long while... Since before Covid. My friend and I would always meet here for breakfast, and we did so today. When I tell you delicious, I am not stretching the truth at all! Friendly, delicious, and cozy. There is even an outdoor seating area with a few tables. Very pleasant . The coffee is absolutely phenomenal (we get the strong roast every time). We split the spinach, tomato and feta quiche which came with roasted potatoes and we added onion and then we also had the bananas Foster waffle. Absolutely fantastic! Yes, the price is a little bit more than what you might pay in a chain restaurant, but this is a little locally owned spot and it's definitely worth stopping in. The environment of the place was nice. They had so many things on display. From there fresh baked breakfast to the house provided coffee beans. They even sell newspapers. I can tell this place has been around for a while. Now, the place itself was great but the crepes I had for my blog were not the best. The crepes were gummy and tough. They were unfilled which isn't normal. When I think about all crepes they are filled, but if you choose not to fill them then the crepes themselves need to pack a punch of flavor and they did not. The apples I had on top were cooked to perfection and had a boat load of flavor. Unfortunately they did not help the crepes when eaten together. I could not finish them and I hope they change the recipe. Even their meat lovers skillet was a mess. read more

I was hesitant of writing this review because I was being selfish. However, I can no longer keep this place a secret. Plus they deserve this review. Beverly Bakery and Cafe is my favorite breakfast spot. It's a mom and pop cute little quaint restaurant. It stands out because the concrete wall on the outside is painted mint green. The restaurant holds about 40 to 50 people. There is also a small patio on the back for about ten people. Off street parking is available in the back and on the side of the building. The pancakes are made from scratch. They have turkey sausage patties that are amazing. If you like southern eating try their shrimp and grit. This is a great place to get fresh coffee beans they grind their own coffee bean. I'm not a big coffee drinker but I love the smell of it. If you are a pastry lover try their cream puff, chocolate cake donut and their hummingbird bread. Mmmm delicious the staff is very helpful. On a scale from 1-10 they get a 10. Very cute little bakery with a variety of coffees, breads and even breakfast food. Someone in our party was a vegan and she was accommodated and very satisfied with the options available. The prices were also very reasonable and the bakery was small but used their space efficiently to have a handful of tables to eat there. Very nice decor and will definitely be coming back. read more

Cute little stop in while we poked around Beverly seeing the sites. It was crowded, but not overly so when we entered and we sat pretty immediately. They have a good selection of lunch options as well as an extensive array of breakfast options, pastries, breads, etc. I went with the turkey BLT and it was delicious, freshly made, and the bacon was nice and crispy. I saw the special breakfast tacos - and they were gone in a flash, so I assume they were good also (though a taste would have been nice). Friendly staff and quick service - I imagine this spot gets pretty busy during the week. All of their dishes are great and hearty with delicious baked goods and coffee. I've been coming to this bakery for a few months now, some of the workers are nice while some are very biased. Meaning when people of color enter the bakery it's like we are all people in the same category which Is Ridiculous. Be advised as I am already an off-duty law enforcement officer trying to get convenient food for me and my husband I shouldn't have to deal with this issue at all as this sort of attitude simply brings unnecessary problems when life is already difficult enough as it is. Parts of my order were wrong while the rest was missing toppings/ingredients. As I entered the restaurant I was already overlooked for a customer that was standing specifically behind me. She had to inform them that I was standing in line as well which is ridiculous and to make matters worse my order was rushed, incorrect, and also burnt. I requested for the money to be put back on my card for parts of my order being burnt. But I still have yet to receive anything. I definitely won't be returning to this bakery at all. read more

The service was friendly and happy to see us. I like to see a family business where the whole family gets into the work. The bathrooms were spotless! But seating was limited for our larger group. If I lived in the area this would probably be a good place for a Saturday morning coffee and pastry while catching up with a friend, but not much else. read more

"Beverly Bakery & Cafe" was one of the very local- and family-owned restaurants I went to when I moved to Chicago almost three (3) years ago. The neighborhood of Beverly in the far south-side Chicago has some of the oldest businesses of the city. While many new commercial chains were beginning to sprout quickly along Western Ave., I still like the charming, cozy, and family-friendly BB&C. I don't live close by at all, but I will come here when I can for their house-roasted coffee. Their "House Latte" is wonderful, rich, and super satisfying. They offer standard American breakfast fare. One of my go-to choices is their "Smoked Salmon Benedict." Lox embedded with cream cheese, topped with a perfectly-poached egg, sprinkled with a little bit of capers, finished up with homemade hollandaise sauce...sounds like an affordable luxury to me. Many patrons come in to get their coffee or pastries to-go. Once again, don't leave this place without getting at least a cup of coffee. Several parking spaces are available in the back. read more

Such a cute little place. Our neighborhood needs more places like this. They serve up some great unique breakfast and lunch. They do bake their own pastries and breads. Banana bread, zucchini bread and more. I got a coconut crunch donut and it was fantastic! I don't normally like the cake type donuts, but this was super moist and delicious delicate. For my meal, I had chorizo and eggs benedict , which I would not normally order, and that was light and fresh. The hollandaise sauce was not over baring. Was in the area with my husband. We decided to stop in for a quick morning bite. When we walked in we were greeted by a nice bubbly young lady at the register that asked if we wanted to try coffee. I asked if she could make iced coffee and she didn't disappoint. There was also an older woman standing near the register as well but did not greet us and proceed to sit at a table to fold pastry boxes. The nice young lady brought my coffee to our table and said the "waitress" would be out soon. Here comes an unpleasant "waitress" with a bad aura and nonchalant attitude when answering my questions I had about the menu. She even tossed my husband his drinking straw on the table and continued about her way. We ultimately decided to wrap our food to go because the atmosphere was not very inviting for US colored folks. And my husband and I hate to feel that way going anywhere especially where we choose to spend our money. I'd been wanting to come here for a long time, and finally made it a couple weeks ago. It's a small quaint little place with a great decor & Windows full of coffee beans & delectable pastries. They also have their own bean grinder... It's amazing! I'd also spent several months in 2018 attempting to create tasty gluten free pancakes.... It's a journey for sure! So you already know I was there for the Oatmeal pancakes! They were Big Beautuful & Tasty. Could use a bit of moisture, but that's what butter & syrup are for. They do have ample butter available, but I'm vegan. They did provide a great syrup but the vegan butter was closer to a margarine, so I skipped. But, they were still quite great! And, I ordered them with Apples on the side! Delish! And a side of Hash Browns. And some delicious imported coffee that I was surprised to love even without creamer!!!! Wow! I would have needed almond or coconut creamer (Vegan). My server was a very charming, attentive, and awesome lady! I got to speak with the owner about Gluten Free items. The shop is supper cute. The bakery items are what you should come to this shop for they are super delicious. I recommend there muffins. The iced lattes need some work. Weeks later I can still taste the fritter/cinnamon roll I ate...and I still have no idea exactly what it was. What I do know it *was*, however, was darn tasty. Much like Jules and Vincent debating the virtues of canines with good attitudes, BB&C is much the same. That's a compliment, I promise. This place has personality. And personality goes a long way. This is a real deal, neighborhood kind of place which belies the truth of its two year (give or take) existence. Armed with coffee and baked goods on a cold day in March, sitting here made me feel like an authentic Chicagoan. I was waited on by minors (take THAT child labor laws!), ate sweet things my waistline did not need and was guaranteed not to run into a wayward Chad or Trixie.* And that's fine with me. You can keep your Lincoln Park lattes, scones and twitterskypes, Chixie. I'll gladly take my Beverly hazelnut-served-in-ceramic, oversized cinnafritter and Sun-Times. This place is real. By the puzzled looks on customer and staff's faces I could tell they don't usually get packs of people wandering in the store. Me and 9 other Yelpers wandered in here as the first stop of our neighborhood tour to give everyone a chance for a caffeine injection and sugar high. I prefer sugar over caffeine so I went with an Easter egg shaped sugar cookie. It was good, nothing to write home about, but good. Service was very friendly. This is a hidden gem on Western in Beverly. It's small so you might have to wait. But it's worth the wait. Everything I've ever had is fabulous. My current favorite is the Beverly Benedict. Made to order with very fresh ingredients it's easy to savor every bite. It comes with a side salad or homemade fried potatoes. Both are good choices. The menu is pretty extensive and very creative. They have breakfast items and lunch too. And sometimes they offer seasonal items like pumpkin pancakes drizzled with sugar cream frosting. (Amazing!) The coffee is delicious too. Home roasted and brewed onsite and exciting flavors abound. The Bakery- well start with the scones and move on down the case. Currently they are only open 7am- 1pm Tuesday Friday and 7-2 Sat and Sun. If you are ever in Beverly and want to try a different restaurant stop by. You won't be disappointed. Oh and the people are so nice. A (late) breakfast spot on regular rotation, when I get jonesin' for Beverly Bakery, it means I want Eggs Benedict. I'll always grab a special if they have one, if not the Bennies on the menu are just as good. Chorizo Benny is my favorite there, with spicy chorizo smashed into a patty. You have to get it with a side of fried potatoes, these perfectly cooked spuds are the best to mop up all the gooey Benedict goodness. And the richness of the egg helps temper the sausage just right. And don't overlook their coffee roasting. Beans from around the planet, fair trade, rainforest certified, organic, you name it, roasted on site. They got super deluxe Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee too if you want to get premium.
