BP Bar: Caramel Brownie Banana Pudding
    Tray

Overhyped. Paid $12 for the caramel brownie banana pudding and honestly it was just okay. First time trying banana pudding and it mostly tasted like bananas + cream with brownie chunks and caramel mixed in. There was a little too much going on flavor-wise. It wasn't bad, but definitely not something I'd rave about. Also way too sweet for me. 6/10

Stopped at Magnolia Bakery while in Chicago. This cute little bakery has indoor and outdoor seating perfect for enjoying your sweet treats before heading back out into the city. They offer a variety cake slices, cookies, brownies, and more! I purchased a slice of cake and fudge brownie. The cake was buttery & light and the icing was the perfect amount of richness. The fudge brownie was soft and gooey! It paired perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream when I got back home. The staff I encountered were friendly and personable! Overall, a great stop if you have a sweet tooth while in Chicago.

Disappointed. Great concept but missed the mark on delivery.. the pretzels in the banana pudding was mushy - big mushy cup.

We love Magnolia! They never disappoint. The German chocolate cake is my fiancés favorite in the city! I always try the seasonal puddings because I can't to banana pudding! My favorites have been the pumpkin and apple pie puddings! So good and light! The space is cute also but we typically order to go or through uber. Try it! You will not be disappointed! The service is A+

I stopped into Magnolia Bakery to settle a friendly debate with my classmates about the best dessert. As a true southerner, I knew the correct answer was banana pudding, but since I was traveling to Chicago, making my own was not an option. Magnolia felt like the next best thing and it delivered. The banana pudding was rich, creamy, and had that perfect balance of vanilla, banana, and softness that makes it such a comfort dessert. It was good enough to change a few minds in our group and confirmed for me that banana pudding still holds the crown. I am already planning to go back to try the apple pie version because it sounds incredible. Service was quick and the shop itself has a warm, inviting feel that pulls you in. If you love classic desserts done well, Magnolia Bakery is worth the stop.

I got the small banana pudding from here. It's pretty good but a little overpriced for what you got. To be fair the other sizes have better value but I was by myself and didn't want to over order. The banana pudding bar gimmick seemed especially overpriced too since they were quoting me around ~$12 for it, but it did look pretty good haha. Workers seemed nice so no complaints on the service side.

The best pudding you can get from a chain. We stopped in to try the season specialty, Pumpkin Spice Pudding. I also tried the Apple Cinnamon Cupcake, it was just ok. I do prefer their standard banana pudding, but the specialty wasn't bad.

Came here 30 minutes before closing and they were still a bit busy! But the line moves really quickly since all the desserts are already prepared. We ordered a large classic banana pudding, small seasonal pumpkin spice pudding, and iced americanos. The banana pudding is good but it's a bit too sticky because it's so whipped. The taste and sweetness is perfect though. My favorite was the pumpkin spice pudding! It tastes exactly like pumpkin pie and wasn't too sweet. As for the drinks, the iced Americanos were not great. Upon us receiving them I was skeptical because the color was so light. There was no ice at all and the color made it look like black tea rather than americanos. The taste was super light and disappointing.

I have always wanted to try the banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery, but prior places I've been that have it it's been really far out of the way. Imagine my surprise when trying to transfer between trains in Chicago and coming across a Magnolia Bakery. My friend and I split a medium banana pudding, and we demolished it within minutes. It certainly lives up to the hype and well worth a try. The bread (cake?) pieces melt in your mouth, perfectly balanced with cream and banana chunks. According to my Asian dessert-primed palate, I would say it's quite sweet, but the other flavors balance out the sweetness well so it's not overwhelming. Service was very quick, and the cafe has ample seating with white tables. It's very cute inside!

The banana pudding is amazing, I love that they have seasonal banana pudding flavours. I went back a second time because it tasted so good. Line moves fast. This location is bigger and has seating as well.

This is my first time actually coming inside the store and I got the birthday cake, confetti cake and it was so delicious. The portion size was just right so I was able to eat it over the span of three days. Lol since it's located in the mall, this location was busy both times that I came in, but you're able to work through the line pretty quickly.. also very much love the decor. I will definitely say that I got a bang for my buck.

Really good banana pudding but the brownie was a bit dry. The line was very long, but it moved fast.

What a cute bakery with an abundance of goodies! I came for the banana pudding and was not disappointed. I had the original and strawberry shortcake puddings. Surprisingly, the strawberry shortcake pudding was my favorite. Customer service was good and fast. The dining area was spotless.

I especially liked the longanisa breakfast sandwich and chicken adobo. I'm so glad that they were willing to make the breakfast sandwhiches beyond 12pm for some of us waiting in line. Fyi they normally stop making the breakfast sandwhiches at noon. Be prepared to wait in line for at least an hour, this spot is super popular. I also really enjoyed the chicken adobo. The chicken was tender and I thought the hint of sweetness from the coconut flakes sprinkled on top was a pleasant touch. I also really liked the Manila fog drink - it wasn't too sweet or overpowering. For the ube huckleberry basque cake - I mostly tasted tartness from the huckleberry and not so much ube, but it was good regardless. The staff were all pretty nice. There's indoor and outdoor seating. You'll likely be able to make a friend or two from the wait in line haha. Highly recommend trying this place at least once!

I actually don't like truffle or croissant but this was flaky, and the rock sugar (I think that's what it is?) on top is so addicting. the cream truffle filling was flavorful but not overpowering -- longanisa egg sandwich + hashbrown: 7/10 just wasn't a standout for me -- mushroom adobo: 8/10 it was flavorful - I would order again but not sure it's worth almost $20 for drinks, we both got the hot yam but my boyfriend got it iced and I got it hot -- it tasted better iced but it was still lacking in ube flavor. the coffee also didn't taste strong enough for me personally honestly I really wanted to like this place more but for almost $100 for everything and the long wait, I expected at least half of the items to be perfect but I felt like only the truffle croissant felt like a 10/10 for me I will say the staff was very sweet though -- maybe it's a better experience dining in, so I think next time I will wake up early to eat inside and hopefully be able to give a higher rating :-)

We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. It's more of a rich, dark chocolate. Nice thin layer of foam. We visited around noon on a Sunday, and after reading the reviews here, I wasn't optimistic there would be many pastries left. We decided to split several and opted for the blueberry cloud cookie, chai cinnamon roll, banana pudding croissant, espresso cornflake cookie, and potato focaccia. The shop was more of a small take-out operation, so we took the pastries to a nearby park to eat. Everything was absolutely divine! The group favorite was the focaccia- the creamy potatoes and cheese brought a rich flavor that was perfectly balanced by the fluffy bread. The chai roll was perfectly soft and delicately spiced, completed with that soft cream cheese frosting and gooey center we all like to see. My personal favorite was the banana pudding croissant- the dough was so crispy that I'm pretty sure others could hear the bite, and there was a generous amount of filling with fresh bananas and visible vanilla beans in the whipped cream. The espresso cookie was super soft- while I couldn't taste the espresso very clearly, I absolutely *loved* the caramel-coated cornflakes topped with sea salt.
