About a year ago I called this location to see if they had an item in stock. Whoever answered the phone literally started yelling at me that they didn't have it. I was quite taken aback and contacted BevMo headquarters by email to discuss what happened. After several emails, I finally heard from a regional manager to talk about what happened. The manager asked me to give the store "another chance," which I reluctantly agreed to. And things seemed OK for awhile when I went in there. However, about a week or so ago I was in the store and bought 15 bottles of an item. The cashier was venting about an underage customer trying to buy alcohol. I started to say something and quickly realized the cashier (older Filipino guy) was ignoring me. He barely said a word to me during the transaction, handed me the receipt and went off to do something else. He didn't even bother to ask if I wanted a box for the bottles (I did!). I had to find one myself and put the bottles in it. About fifteen minutes later I realized the cashier was the same guy who yelled at me over the phone a year before! Apparently no one bothered to talk with him about what happened previously and he does whatever he wants. I was looking at other reviews (one from three years ago) that also complain about this guy. Clearly the store doesn't care if customers go elsewhere. So hey BevMo, I gave you guys "another chance" and the same guy was rude to me again. I won't be coming back here. read more

Terrible customer service, cashier was so rude, my card didn't go through and I said I'm going to pay with a different one and he said he would not sell it to me, I didn't understand why but i just left and went to buy it somewhere else, I'm never coming back. Let's face facts: lawyers drink. A lot. And I'm a really great lawyer. So that means I need to drink even more. Vodka (Kettle), rum (Orinoco and Pyrat), bourbon (Blanton's), scotch (Glen Rothes), tequila (1800): sounds like a weekend to me. BevMo keeps my bar (the coolest piece of furniture I own: an intricately-carved wooden radio cabinet from the 1920s, with the radio removed) well-stocked, at pretty reasonable prices. I know it seems odd that a Mission-dweller like me would go all the way to Colma to shop at BevMo, but I got one word for ya: Target, biatches! I just can't seem to go more than 2 weeks without it. Plus, the big parking lot shared by BevMo and Target gives me the chance to express my inner suburbanite: I park near Target, shop, pack my shit in the trunk, then drive over to the BevMo side of the parking lot, and park all over again. It's like I'm living in LA! My one suggestion for BevMo is to stop putting up ratings for wine given by Wilfred Wong. Listen, there are only two wine scores anyone cares about (to the extent that anyone cares about scores at all): Robert Parker from Advocate, and James Laube from Spectator. Every time I read a score for a wine, and it's Wong's score, I just skip it. Sure sign that both Parker and Laube passed. When I'm buying wine in a store, without a chance to taste it before hand, I'm not going out on any limbs. Oh, and it would sure be nice if you folks would install a bathroom. That would keep me from having to use the Target bathrooms. *shudder* read more

They even have shopping carts for you to load up your cases of wine, gallons of vodka and jugs of mixes. When I reached the cash register with about $100 worth of booze I found the cashier and another employee engrossed in a non work related conversation about how many countries they've been to in Europe. Ok, I'm going to a housewarming party. Alcohol has been requested by the hosts to bring. What the hell am I going to bring? I could stop by a 7-11 or liquor store but the selections can be limited. I know, let's visit and see what BevMo has to offer. Perusing up and down the aisles, I found out BevMo has a wide variety of beers, wines, and spirits for all your inebriated and potential embarrassment needs. They also have a small selection of snacks and candies on hand in case the munchies hit you while you're in between drinks. The plan was to get a bottle of Goose but that was immediately diverted since I found out there was more than enough vodka there. My attention then turned to the rum aisle and that is where I saw what would be the star of the party. A 750 ml bottle of Bacardi 151 ($23), which can also double as fuel for your car's combustion engine. It's safe to say a little bit of 151 mixed with some Red Bull makes for fun and memorable times. read more

BevMo's 5-cent (buy one at regular price, get 2nd bottle for 5 cents) wine sales are such a great bargain. I usually stock up during these times. The extra bottles around my home come in handy to grab on my way to a friend's party or give as a gift. In addition to a large variety of wine, BevMo also has a large selection of beer, hard alcohol, non-alcoholic drinks, all kinds of sweet and savory snacks and handy picnic-ware. I come here all the time, and I usually don't yelp anything overly negative unless it really calls for it. This is one of those times. This just happened an hour ago around 2:30pm. So I went to go buy a Macallan 15 and use my 5% coupon reward that was just sent to me yesterday. The coupon did not go through, so the cashier called the manager Marianne (sp?) at that time to try to resolve the issue. After waiting for about 5 minutes, she finally shows up at the register. She then tries to use the coupon again but doesn't succeed and says that it doesn't work because the coupon has already been used. I am quite puzzled, as it was just sent to me yesterday via e-mail and here I am today to use it. So she says she will go call customer service to see what's up. She comes back 5 minutes later, unable to get ahold of the customer service, and keeps insisting that I have already used this coupon. So I asked her if she could just override the system and give me the discount, as it's really only $5. Other managers I've dealt with there have done it before for my $10 off $50 coupon that somehow did not go through. Here's the kicker, though. She then proceeds to interpret what I told her as me knowing how to game the system (like I had really used the coupon before and am trying to use it again). Hello, it's only a 5% coupon. Why wouldn't I do it for $15 off $100 or something more if I really wanted to "game the system"? And can't she look into my account to see what and when I last bought and for how much, if she really thinks I'm reusing the coupon? Is it really worth it to fight me over just $5 discount when I'm buying a $100 bottle of alcohol? What about my future purchases from this store, which might not happen anymore due to this bad experience? It's just stupid. Then I proceeded to tell her that she shouldn't accuse customers of doing something if she doesn't really have concrete evidence to back it up. I said I'm going to yelp this, and she dares me to go ahead, and so here I am letting the world know how awful her customer service is that might potentially turn away loyal customers from buying there in the future. I just hope she gets retrained in customer service. You should give the benefit of the doubt to the customer, especially if you don't have concrete evidence to back up your accusations. Or perhaps she should find another line of employment, as retail customer service is definitely not her forte. read more

This is the only BevMo or retail store that I know of that sells Belfast Sparkling Cider. If you are Chinese and grew up going to Chinese banquets in SF or Oakland you know what soda I'm talking about. For those not part of this small sliver of society, Belfast Cider is non-alcoholic soft drink that has a apple flavor and isn't as sweet as typical soda e.g., Sprite or Coke. Belfast is head and shoulders above Martinelli's Apple Cider. Belfast is sold in 1 liter bottles for $1.69. Definitely worth the trip to BevMo in Colma. read more

This BevMo is a hip happenin' place on a Saturday afternoon. There was wine tasting in the back, some vodka company giving away pedicure toe separater foam things while advertising a party, and several customers browsing throughout the store. We were in looking to pick up a bottle of wine to bring with us to a dinner, and walked in on the buy one at full price, second for 5 cents sale. SCORE! We picked up the bottle for dinner and one for us. As an aside, we bought the wine for our wedding banquet here, so I've fond memories of this place. Although we ended up with WAY too much liquor (I attribute the over-purchase to my wine-loving co-worker, who selected the amount he would drink and multiplied it by the number of guests), this BevMo ended up taking it back -- as we'd probably still be drinking that wine 10 years later if they hadn't. read more

We chose BevMo to purchase the wines for our wedding. The main goal was to find a vendor that could accept returns. When we made our first purchase there, we asked if they accepted returns and they said they would accept anything that was not opened. We then proceeded to purchase our wine/sparkling wine over the course of several months - we waited for the 5cent sale, or for the specific wine we wanted to be on sale. More than once I confirmed with the sales staff they would accept returns and they were very cordial and simple - yes, we accept returns on unopened bottles (no questions or caveats were mentioned). After our wedding we then went back to return what was left and the employee asked us why we were returning. We were honest and said it was leftovers from our wedding. The employee looked at us and said they could not accept returns for that reason. I fought back and told them about the fact that nobody mentioned this clause when we asked, nor it was written anywhere. Also, I told the employee that if I did not say it was for a wedding they would take the return without problems. After consulting with the manager, and trying to find out the written return policy, and after I threatened to go to another store and lie about my reasons, the employee took our return. If I had known that BevMo would be so harsh on returns, I would simply not have purchased our licquor there. read more

(note the exclamation point) sections truly set this store apart from just being an overgrown Quikr Likr or what-have-you... because although the local corner store may also stock snacks a la Lay's and other munchies with high preservative content, BevMo's got a refrigerated carousel of yummy cheeses and meats, every kind of chip, dip, garnish, cocktail embellishments, you can think of. Plus glasswear, bar utensils, all types of cigars, yknow, all the fun stuff. I could not have had a better experience at BevMo Colma yesterday. Due to Covid, our annual Christmas party could not be held in person this year. However, we decided to create a Virtual Cocktail party for our team. I put together baskets with engraved shakers and all the bar tools, but the true gift was the high-end spirits for sipping and mixing. I love cocktails, but I don't know a ton about spirits. I was wandering around with a cocktail book in hand and was desperately googling ratings. A nice employee came up to me and tried to help, but he didn't have quite the expertise I needed. Fortunately, the manager, Phil, saw our interaction and took over. I told him my plan and showed him the cocktail list. He immediately showed me the best products in my budget and helped me pair the spirits with tonics, bitter, and mixers. If he hadn't have stepped in when he did, this errand would have taken hours to complete! I'm so grateful for the excellent service at this store. I read some of the negative reviews, and frankly, they say more about the bad behavior of the patron than the store employees. I will always return to this store when I need to stock up again! If the Lord himself owned a liquor store, it would be BevMo, any location, hands down. BevMo has never disappointed, but I am VERY GRATEFUL for this particular BevMo, as I was given a mysterious miracle in the form of a Mystery Beer Case. What IS a Mystery Beer Case? In my 26 years I have never seen one, they are THAT elusive, much like a chupacabra. Upon seeing it, I put back the beer I had and turned into Peter Griffin when he could take a boat or the box, because I was determined and proclaimed, "I WANT THAT BOX, THERE COULD BE ANYTHING IN THAT BOX!" Upon getting it home and opening the Beer Box as if it were Christmas Morning circa the one where I walked into the living room and found an obviously wrapped bicycle with streamers, I felt like how a teenage boy must feel when he sees his first pair of tits because while I was completely sober at the time, sunshine was flowing out of that box! It was glorious, and I was SO EXCITED!!!!! I cannot spoil anything by saying which beers were in there, as I do not DARE break the rules of Mystery Beer (no peeking) In addition to the above, this is actually my regular BevMo, and while I don't go too often, I have never had a problem and the staff is always friendly. Reducing the star rating on BevMo by 1. I went here when I got in to town this trip. Purchased a case of Bud Light Bottles (same price as cans) and a bottle of Jose Cuervo Tequila. Plus a Margarita mixer. Then I made a trip to Safeway for some groceries and the beer & tequila were SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper there! Huh?? The salsa I contemplated buying at BevMo but didn;t was $1 cheaper at Safeway too! I thought BevMo was supposed to be a discounted store?? I always thought it was in the past. I still really like it because of the variety. Especially the variety of single shot alcohols. If you want to try something, most likely it will be available in a single serve bottle. read more

I don't drink much at all, but BevMo is my first choice when it comes time to find some wine and alcohol for special occasions. I like how they separate everything by type so its easier to navigate through the store. This BevMo is also the only place that I've found Abita beer from Louisiana, which is my all-time favorite. I also like their selection of German Rieslings, which is my new obsession, though my last visit here showed that about a third of the German section was empty. So one minus star for not keeping this section as stocked as I would prefer. Overall, the go-to place for all your alcohol needs. They also have a great snack food section as well, in case you feel like some cheese to go along with your wine, or even some Mrs. Renfro's salsa and chips with your beer. Ever since I first discovered this place, I've taken advantage of their 5 cent sales, in order to make some very nice liquid grape discoveries for my collection. However, this last round was a MAJOR disappointment. It appears that Wilfred Wong and I have quite the difference of opinion with his wine ratings lately. Almost everything I bought, I returned. It was more like 5 cent shit in a bottle, except for one nice discovery. Only 1 winner out of 6. That sucks. Judging by the fact that this current sale, has been going on for a couple of weeks and will continue through the end of the month, makes me think that Wilfred and company, have a butt load of shit wine to unload on unsuspecting palates. It was a cold, damp night but I was dry as a bone, looking for a place to wet my whistle. Driving through the fog, a shining sign of opportunity rose before me. I pulled my jalopy into the parking lot and entered the BevMo containing enough liquor to celebrate V-E day. Picking up a couple stogies to go with my purchase proved a bit more difficult. Either the Nightstick Squad has been a frequent visitor, "confiscating" the Cubans or the opposite and some young ruffians with sticky fingers have grabbed them as training for the big leagues. Same result, either way. Locating a member of the staff, I was able to grab a couple cohibas to go with the lubricants already under my arm. You see, a Toby is the most potent weapon in a shamus' arsenal. I can smell trouble a mile away But tough guys, you see, have one major flaw: overconfidence. They're not too bright, either, so they don't think you know what's coming. They will almost always accept a proffered cigar, enjoying the seeming irony of their next victim handing them a gift before the pummeling. Right when I am about to light it up for them, POW, I lay into them and get the hell out of there. And let me tell you something once; whatever patron saint watches over the private dicks of the world, bestowing upon them leggy brunettes, blondes in trouble, and idiotic toughs were shining a smile upon me so bright that it rivaled that of the BevMo sign. read more

I got most of my Christmas shopping done here on Sunday! Now, take into account that I know nothing about wine except that I can get drunk off of large amounts of it. I walked out with a variety of wines in one case. I walked in thinking that I would just check out their points system, which is effective as well, but knew I would need assistance. That's were Ellyn came in! If you ever go to this BevMo, ask for Ellyn. She is helpful and has an extensive knowledge of wines. She literally walked me through some great picks for family, friends, co-workers and my boss. She even gave me tips on what to say when I presented these gifts so that I would look like I knew what I was doing. AND...to top it all off, she found me great deals and I spent less than a hundred bucks for the majority of my list! 5 STARS for great prices/deals, a large selection and for employing Ellyn! read more

Best BevMo in this area. It's never very busy, even when the crowd in the nearby Target is swarming with teeming masses of shoppers on December 23rd. Their craft beer aisle makes me feel like a child in a toy store, crafting a christmas list. I'd like this one, and this one, and then the Bourbon-Barrel-Aged Deluxe Playset... Their accessories are also great: I particularly like the Rabbit wine bottle stoppers ($5 for a set of two brightly colored rubber stoppers that resemble an adult toy, but work quite well for their intended purpose). The staff has been nothing but pleasant and helpful every time I've been in there, and you can't beat the selection and prices. read more

BevMo! - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Colma, California

This rating is more about a policy than about their merchandise. Went into their Issaquah location today, nice store, friendly people, but here's the rub. Whereas most merchants in Wa state check your ID regardless of your age, BevMo takes a picture of your drivers license. I objected to them making a record of more information than my date of birth, and I was told "all retailers require this", and if I didn't allow a copy of my drivers license, I could not purchase alcohol from their store. No other retailer has this policy that I do business with, Costco, QFC, etc, so out of curiosity, I called the Sate Liquor Board, who confirmed there is no such policy (making a digital copy of a drivers license), but if a merchant wants to do that, i.e. more stringent requirements than those required by the state, they are free to do so. Fair enough, but for me, them requiring more of my personal info than the law requires is an intrusion I am unwilling to accept. read more

I'm a big fan of Bevmo. They have a pretty good selection. I think their prices are cheaper than some other places (if you have a Bevmo card, you can get good discounts). Most important, their employees know their stuff, no matter if it's beer, wine, or the hard stuff and they are always willing to help. Another bonus is their location next to Target for any other shopping need (like snacks) :]. One downside is they typically only have one person on a register. One weird thing did happen while I was shopping there -- some lazy customer took my shopping cart! She emptied out what I had put in my cart to buy and put her stuff in it and pretended that she had a cart all along. Right. I would just pile all the wine, beer, glasses, that I wanted to buy on the aisle floor. So watch your cart. Overall, great place -- like shopping there as much as I can. read more

BevMo is Disneyland for adults. The first time I went here, I went down each and every aisle even though all I needed was vodka. I had to know exactly what they had to offer for my next visit! How can you go wrong at a place with cheap booze in every size you could ever need? Mini bottles for stocking stuffers? They have them all. Gigantic jugs of hard liquor for your alcoholic buddies? Check and double check! Besides the obvious Grey Goose and Patron Silver, faves include mixers like the Soho Lychee Liqueur and Stirrings Lavender Martini Essence. Oh and if you're throwing a big party and need tons of shot glasses, they sell little plastic ones that make cleanup a breeze. read more

I think it's cheaper in a sense compared to other locations (maybe not Costco..but Costco is such a hassle sometimes). More discount with a BevMo card. It's free. Might as well get one. Conveniently located in a plaza along with Target, Michael's, & other stores. Parking is usually okay the closer you go to BevMo. Clean location. Neatly stocked. Great selection...lights, darks, wine, beer. They even have other cool things like books for mixed drinks & mini bottles. Usually I only see one cashier. I spend hours perusing the website for this great liquor store. While I do most of my liquor purchases at BevMo, I especially like their outstanding selection of wines - from all over the world, all price ranges. I read their descriptions, ratings, order ahead, and my purchase is ready and waiting. I find that, occasionally, some selections might not be available at the Colma location but they usually will be at San Francisco Bayshore. Their selection of cheeses is also great as well as the pates and other accompaniments to wines, beers and cocktails. Since I usually take a case of wine on my travels, I especially being able to purchase the excellent Styrofoam shippers - I've never had a bottle break!! I definitely like this BevMo better than the one on Bayshore. But, it means getting on the freeway so I try to pair a trip here with one to Target. Anyhoo, it is more spacious and easier to navigate than the SF locations. And, not only is staff friendly they are actually knowledgeable. I stopped in on Saturday to take advantage of the 5 Cent Sale. I asked a woman to help to locate a particular one. She escorted me to the wine and then made some additional suggestions. Thanks! Unfortunately, one of the bottles I bought smelled and tasted awful. It was a wine I had had before so I knew something with this bottle was off. I returned tonight to return the wine and it was taken back with no questions asked and an apology offered. Thanks! Again! read more

This BevMo isn't the closest to my house but I like it because I don't have to put up with the parking and long lines like you do in the city. If I was super rich and had one of those "just for fun" jobs a few days a week I would work in the beer department at BevMo (although I would probably get fired for excessive sampling). The selection is awesome (any place that sells Celebrator Doppelbock gets my vote!) and the staff is always extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about what they sell. read more
