Came here today after my YELP event with a fellow Yelper. There was not many ppl, but it was like 4ish. More ppl arrived by like 5 or so. We sat at the bar and waited for the server. Honestly, we waited a little minute and I was a bit annoyed by that. However, I just waited patiently because maybe they were busy or something. We were serviced by Skylar. He showed me to taste #8 because I really only like Blue moons or shocktops. He allowed my fellow peer to try #14. We enjoyed the tasting and purchased. I wish the bartender would have been a little more warm and welcoming after he serviced us. He seemed like he didn't really want to be bothered. Evening of 5/28/26. Unfortunately, we experienced poor customer service when we stopped by for dinner and drinks. After looking over the tap list posted on the wall, we approached the bar to place our order. The bar tender immediately handed us 4 menus and his exact words were " please have a seat at a table and I will take your order shortly. If I take too long, feel free to come back to the bar". Fair enough, we have a seat and make our food selections. 10-12 minutes pass as we watched at least 8 other people come in the Ale house and immediately receive a beverage at the register. With all of our choices in mind, we approach the bar again, without any hesitation his exact words were "have a seat at your table, I will be there shortly". All four of us were a little confused why we seemed to be the only people he was not offering to serve a drink. We continued to wait for another 10 minutes without any acknowledgement from the staff. We understand dinner time can be busy and have no problem waiting for food service, but the immediate denial of even taking a drink order is very odd behavior for an Ale house. Good spot for food and drinks! Came on a Sunday night and there was a live music. Personally, it was too loud and hard to have a conversation so we moved to the outdoor seating in the back. Loved the vibes outside with the string lights and they're also dog friendly (both inside and outside). We tried the following food: - Brussel sprouts ($9) - surprisingly really good and came with a mayo dip - Buffalo wings ($17) - comes with about 6-7 really big pieces. I saw a lot of people recommend this on Yelp and I can see why! They use mochiko batter so it was really crispy. - Crispy chicken sandwich ($16) - this was super crispy and they also use mochiko batter. Sourdough bread was a little burnt. One person in our group enjoyed it and the other person didn't as much because it was a little too crispy. Overall, not bad! Amazing beers on a rotating basis, so just because you found one you love doesn't mean it'll be there the next time. Which may be a reason to visit again, actually. And very good pub food. Just had the pozole verde and recommend it without reservation. The only reservation I have, in fact, is the live events, which you'll definitely want to know about ahead of time. Because they can be great, I am sure, or they can be torture, I know. Alas, it was the latter for my last three visits. One--open mic comedy--has, I believe, been dropped now. Mercifully, because open mic comedy is the best way to find the most troubled people in any particular town, and the most racist, and the most misogynist, and all their friends and family, because those will be the only ones left in the place after the first half hour. They also have karaoke, and if you're a fan, this is a plus. I am not. But seriously . . . this is the place for you if you've got a great voice. It's even the place for you if you have a terrible voice. Finally, they have improv comedy. Which is, thankfully, free of racism and misogyny! It is also free of wit! And humor! They played games! Do you like games? You'll love improv. You'll feel like you're at a baby shower. Fortunately, most of the live shows are professional musicians--jazz, r&b, folk, rock, and more--and the schedule is listed on their website. So I had no excuse, really, for what I'd subjected myself to. Overall, it was a very flavorful Cesar salad(although not the best I've ever had). The server was funny and personable, and when he saw the law enforcement ticketers come by he made sure to check that none of us had an expired meter. Overall, great people with great food! This place is my new favorite spot. There is so much to love here. The atmosphere has a very chill vibe, the food coming out of this kitchen is out of this world, and the libations being offered here complete the trifecta of awesomeness. I'm just gonna start with the chicken wings because that was thee BEST thing I've experienced in any restaurant for a while. I had these wings just last weekend and since then I've been dreaming of when I can have them again. Yes, they are that good. The batter is outrageously crispy and well cooked. The wings are meaty, tender, and crazy delicious. The ranch it comes with tastes homemade and offers a nice cool relief from these fiery treasures. I typically love a good ranch but these wings have such great crunch and flavor they don't even need it. We also had one of the smash burgers served on beautiful Rosalind sliced sourdough. It was served with American cheese and had yummy pickles inside. The fries served with aioli is another standout dish here. Imagine crinkle cut steak fries served with this addictive aioli you pretty much want to slather on everything. So much yum is happening here folks. They have a lot of great offerings on the menu. Stuff like pozole, fish tacos, and crispy chicken sandwiches. It was very hard to choose. I'm not certain but I think they make a lot of their sauces in house. The ranch and the aïoli both tasted very authentic. Not like something you could get everywhere. I love that attention to detail. This place is gold and I'm only sorry I didn't discover it earlier. I'm jealous of the people that live in this neighborhood because this is the type of establishment you want in your neighborhood. Boyfriend had sour beer and I had Cremant Rosé. Both refreshing and crisp. We were really happy to see that they carry Tag + Jug dry cider. We love that stuff but cannot seem to find it anywhere. It was unsurprising when they told us they had run out of it. They have a remarkable cocktail list with unique and delectable offerings. The place itself has a very fun vibe. They have a stage for live music, a sweet little patio in the back, and a variety of different seating inside to cater to different groups and parties. Even the bathroom here is fun. Love the mermaids. The food here is fantastic but the people that work here really brought it all home. The people taking care of us, Terry and Skyler, were so kind and helpful. The gentleman performing that day, Johnny, was wonderful. He was so sweet to our little toddler and let him play with one of his drums. Then later, when he performed his set, he let our son get on stage with him and play the drum with him. I was very nervous because he's only three years old and I was worried he'd break something but Johnny was so cool and told me not to worry about it. Above and beyond kindness. I've always heard great things about OAH over the years. I went by recently for a couple of drinks and had a good time. But today, their food fell short. It wasn't busy inside, and I ordered at 1:30pm so it was available quick. I walked in at 1:45 and was able to grab my order real quick. The star of their menu is the potato wedges with garlic aioli. It's really good. The burger was just a patty melt with onions and mustard. I wouldn't even call it a true burger as it was on sourdough. The crust on the sourdough was burnt and I had to peel it off. Last on the list was the fish sandwich. Fish was mostly batter, a bit over fried dark brown color and was dry. It needed a lot of tartar sauce to balance it out but there wasn't much on there. The sourdough bread crust was also burnt and needed to be peeled off too. Over all too heavy of a sandwich. All that for $50 and for the server to cough on his hand before handing me a pen to sign the receipt was the cherry on top. I'll stick to beeps down the street moving forward.... read more

Great ambiance, music, and food, but the service was a little questionable given we were made to sit outside in the cold despite there being several tables open that could have been pushed together inside, in front of the stage. And no, it wasn't because we had small kids, as we saw other groups with small kids get sat in that area. We came in a little before 6pm on a Saturday evening. Although it wasn't listed on their website, there was a lovely flamenco performance (guitar and dancing). Our friends got there first and all the tables near the stage were empty, but for some reason they were sat outside (we were a group of 4 adults, 4 toddlers). It is VERY cold out there, and there are no heat lamps. You can order a tea for $7. When I got in, and I tried asking the manager (I think) if we could sit at the 4-top in front of the stage (since our kids were just standing next to the stage watching the performance. They were quiet mesmerized by it). He kept interrupting me and saying, "wherever you sit, we will serve you." This happened several times. So I just had our kids sit at that 4-top to watch the show. Then he comes over and says that we should sit outside, or we can continue standing next to the stage (which is awkwardly also in front if the restroom door) to watch the performance. Also I felt a little pressure to drink.. I said I was driving and even with that the manager kept asking me what I wanted to drink. * Fried Potato ($9) - 4.5 stars. A family friendly spot and great for big groups. There's limited metered parking around the area. Menus are accessible via QR codes at each table or on the sign right when you walk in. You order and pay at the bar and they'll deliver your order to you. There was a live band playing last Thursday evening. It was difficult to have a conversation as it was loud, but they had gaps between their sets to allow for chit chat. The music was great! The largest table could seat a party of 9. The sweetest dessert wine they carry is a Sauternes which was SO good! The fries were a hit at my table and it can be shared with at least three people. We found a nice little seat near the game shelf in the back and picked out some things for my daughter to play with while we ordered. Came here for trivia night the first Thursday last month and had a blast! Not only was the trivia super fun (chill but random in a challenging way), but the food was amazing. My husband keeps asking if we should go back for the mushroom melt--and the kale salad is super healthy too which is a nice change of pace for bar food (just didn't see any pomegranate seeds in mine though?)--but I've been saying we should save it for our trivia nights since we'll be sure to be back each month for it. I was hoping to find another means to give feedback (like email) because I would prefer to not have to give a rating, but alas, I was only able to find Yelp as an option. My husband and I live just a couple blocks away from Ocean Ale House and know they are a community anchor with great live music and host weekend community cleanups. We have been here before and have had a great time, and we've also had some not so great experiences. We walked in around 8:15pm tonight and one of the staff let us know to take a seat and they would come by to take our order. The place wasn't packed, with about 1/3 of the tables occupied. We took our seats and about 10 minutes passed while I observed them going to all the other tables around us, taking orders, checking in on customers, and cleaning up. They never came back to us. We waited another 5 minutes. I looked toward the bar area where the staff were working to see if anyone would acknowledge us, but nobody did. At one point, I saw the staff person who originally greeted us just stand at the cash register and stare off into space and continue to talk to other customers. At that point, we decided that it was time to go. I'm 30 weeks pregnant, hungry, and ready to spend $35 on a crab sandwich, but I didn't have the patience to wait to just be acknowledged and have my order taken. We left and went to another restaurant down the block, where my order was taken within 5 minutes and food arrived in another 5 minutes. I will be back to give Ocean Ale House another chance because I live in the neighborhood, want to support local business, and plan to eventually get that sandwich. First time here on a Saturday night. The entire experience was top-notch. My server was absolutely lovely - I had my drink order in less than five minutes while she was still standing next to me! I ordered the patty melt and fries (huge portion!) - both were done to perfection. I loved that the fries were still steamy on the inside, but had a nice crisp on the outside. The bread on my patty melt was toasted to perfection - didn't get soft mid-meal. I enjoyed two of their sour beers and both were delicious. We ordered a few orders of the Smoked Japanese Sweet Potato Tacos and some Smoked Brisket Tacos -- super delicious. I ordered an Aromatic Vesper ($14) which had St. George Terroir Gin, Lillet Blanc, Humboldt Vodka, Lemon Peel Garnish. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a dry cocktail. My boyfriend had the Maison de Campagne and throughly enjoyed it -- so much so that he had about 5. His Uncle enjoyed a few of their Tremor California Light Lager. Lots of options for drought beer so stop by if you're in the mood for some ale. Also, KC was our server and was pretty hospitable.
