First time at Total Wine & More was at this Daly City station on the evening of Friday, September 27, 2024. Ok, I admit it - I was expecting the store and experience to be exactly like BevMo!. Nothing wrong with their competitor, but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Located in the Gellert Marketplace, there is plenty of parking for patrons. The liquor store is also conveniently neighbours with other retailers such as Sprouts Farmers Market and PetSmart as well as food & beverage joints like the Habit Burger Grill, Panera Bread, and Starbucks. The venue, ornamented in hues of brown, is huge, but escapes the brightly lit warehouse feel, which is cool. We arrived at the retailer of fine wines from around the world, also stocking beers and accessories, shortly before 7:30 PM, grabbed a cart at the front entrance, filling it with a few cases of canned/bottled beers, coolers, etc. While perusing the vodka and tequila sections, Edgar introduced himself to us and helped us decide on a good vodka at a great price, TOWER VODKA. He also assisted us with choosing a couple of bottles of smooth tasting tequilas that wouldn't break our wallets, CIMARRON BLANCO and LLEGADO BLANCO. Everyone at our party the next day who took shots of tequila voted between CIMARRON and LLEGADO. I preferred the latter. Really appreciated Edgar's proposal on getting two smaller bottles of tequila to try each out instead of purchasing one big bottle. He delivered top notch service as well as warm and interesting conversation. We will definitely be visiting Total Wine & More for our spirit shopping, especially for our parties. Love the selections of drinks but hate the inconsistency of this store. Been here many times. I was with my partner and during checkout they asked for his ID AND mine. Thankfully I had my id with me, but what if I didn't. I don't get the need to check for two ID's just for standing next to my partner who made the purchase. read more

A couple of workers even stopped to ask if I needed assistance while I was browsing, which I really appreciated. I was excited to order a vertical of Cune Imperial Rio Rioja Gran Reserva. I ordered 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. After waiting some time for delivery to the Daly City location they arrived and I went to pick them up. At pick-up inspection I noticed one of the bottles (2009) had a cork pushing out. The employee also recognized it and called over a manager. The manager came over and also acknowledged the cork bulge and how it was pushing out the foil. I asked for a replacement as they had other 2009s in stock and I was refused. I had to accept order of the damaged bottle they "cherry picked" for me. How incredibly horrible. I will no longer ever purchase from the concierge program and write this to inform others as to your risk in participating in this program and Daly City location. read more

Visiting Total Wine is me doing a happy dance! This place has aisles and aisles, rows and rows of alcohol. It is a bit overwhelming but I love walking through the aisles just perusing the varieties of wines, sparkling, beer and spirits. The staff is always super friendly. Every visit is met with a few staff members asking me if I need help finding anything. On one occasion, a staff member offered to let me taste some wines even though it wasn't a tasting day. My advice is to order what you need online and go pick it up or if you'd like to walk around, make sure you stick to the list of items you went to the store for. Otherwise, you'll spend a lot more than you want to! read more

Currently Bed Bath Beyond is in the shopping center which means there is Plenty of Parking. As for the store it's huge and has an expansive selection of beverages. Plus by using the Mobile Application generous discounts are available. I was looking for a less than widely distributed beverage of Hercules Mulligan , this is a mix of Rum, Rye Whiskey, Ginger & Bitters. Basically this is an Old Fashioned in a bottle without any cheap mixer as a filler. Because of the website and mobile application, I was able to confirm the item was in stock, and receive a nice discount. As for staffing it was plentiful, and checking out was swift and courteous. I shop here because they carry my favorite, totally hard-to-find sparkling wine for just $14 a bottle, which is a steal compared to the $24 price tag at Safeway. Plus, you can't even find this brand at BevMo. read more

To all who shop here: make sure you keep all your receipts from every transaction in case the following happens to you too: I was just randomly accused of shoplifting during a previous visit by management despite not having done so. When I returned with what I bought from my previous visit along with the receipt and requested to see the footage they claimed to have of me, management prohibited the workers from showing me anything before hiding from me outside and only walking back in when I left for the final time. It's a shame because I was a regular customer who truly enjoyed this location from the time they first opened until now. Surely there'd be nothing to hide on their end if management were so certain it was me and maybe not someone who looks similar to me. This is an inexcusable act of passive discrimination from an otherwise great store but there's fortunately plenty of other places in the area with more respectful staff, management that doesn't run and hide when confronted, and just as good a selection of products read more

Total Wine & More is my go-to for all things wine and spirits. Their selection is by far the largest when compared to other similar shops. The prices are competitive if not better than most places besides Costco. I love Napa valley cabernet sauvignons so it's always fun to walk around looking at the selection, seeing my "bucket list" bottles, reading employee recommendations, or scanning bottles on Vivino or wine.com to read reviews or ratings. Occasionally, you can find bottles autographed by the winemakers. (see the Olema Pinot picture I posted). The store has a consistent layout with other locations and bottles are easy to find. Don't forget to sign up for their loyalty rewards programs to earn points with every purchase. After a few visits it's easy to accumulate enough for $5 rewards. I was shopping for my friend birthday gift and this dude I called to help me get a bottle and I stood there waiting and waited until I need to use the bathroom because he took too long and he might forgot me ! I was asking him to get me this bottle and seems like he totally ignored me or doesn't want to help me.So I took a picture of the bottle and went up to the cashier to pay for it. DATE: 08/16/24: I usually have a decent experience when going to any Total Wine locations, but when my friend's dad came to visit this location to buy some wine, he was accused of shoplifting. My friend's dad had came in to buy bottles of wine and even spoke with the other employees there, asking questions on where certain wines were, etc. My friend's dad had a work backpack with him that contained his work documents and work computer. As he was shopping, the manager at the store, Stephen New, grabbed my friend's dad and his bag, yelling saying, "I SAW YOU PUT SOMETHING IN YOUR BACKPACK," ended up bruising my friend's dad and almost causing him to fall. He accused my friend's dad of putting wine bottles in his work bag. Even after finding no stolen wine/bottles in there, the manager still tried to kick him out AND keep his work bag. My friend's dad eventually got his stuff back, but this should not have happened to begin with. My friend's dad frequently visits this specific Total Wine as well and even has a membership! This is his Go-To place for wine and beer! Him and my friend have never had a problem when shopping at this store until this manager. If he wanted to see what was inside of my friend's dad's bag he could have asked respectfully and politely instead of grabbing him and being aggressive. I understand the fear of shoplifters, but there was no need to yell and get physical. My friend's dad probably would have been okay with showing what was in his bag if Stephen New felt like he took something. Instead he put my friend's dad in an unsafe situation, leaving him with bruises and almost tried to take his whole work bag! There was no need to be aggressive towards any customer. I am hoping that this review reaches someone from corporate so they can help my friend and I get justice for his dad! This is no way to treat somebody. This is my dad and I's go-to spot to refill our supply of wine and beer. However, this past Friday, my dad decided to stop by Total Wine after work. As he was picking up some wine and putting it into his cart, the Wine Manager, Stephen New, ran up to my dad, tried to pull my dad's backpack off of him which caused my dad to almost fall, and yelled "I SAW YOU PUT A WINE BOTTLE IN YOUR BACKPACK!!" As he kept pulling to take my dad's backpack, my dad told him "You can't do that, my company laptop is inside!" Once Stephen New took my dad's backpack, he checked inside and found nothing. Stephen New didn't apologize and tried to kick my dad out of the store while still in possession of my dad's backpack. I didn't realize Total Wine's SOP is to steal someone's belongings after accusing them of shoplifting! My dad refused to leave the store since he still needed to finish his purchase so shoutout to Rad, the Assistant Store Manager for defusing the situation the best he could and apologizing on Stephen New's behalf. I know how bad shoplifting is nowadays especially in California. I know how it is working in retail. Any retail professional KNOWS this behaviour is unacceptable. But this is no way to treat someone especially how my dad is a member and frequently shops here! 10/10 violent experience. For the alcoholic in me, there really isn't a bitter place to shop than total wine. The selection is huge, and the prices fair. Was in the area, and decide to give it a visit as I haven't been to this one. It's just as large as most of their other locations and the service is done with a smile. This is my go to place to buy liquor. The staff is helpful and their selection is good. Not great. Sometimes stuff goes out of stock and you will never see it again. For example, their Macallan scotch was gone for the longest time. All of it. There is probably a supply issue. Yesterday, I was looking for something I purchased a few months ago that was pretty good, Mango Cart beer. I couldn't find it again. But they do have other stuff to buy and a good place to explore. I just went in to buy two bottle of liquor and I asked the short Filipino lady with glasses for help and she didn't say anything and looked annoyed when she showed me where the bottles where located. This NYE was my 2nd visit to this particular TWM. Generally the business is clearly making an effort - an example of this was the promptness with which they opened extra registers as soon as the line started stretching back. Unfortunately for me they did not stock the champagne brand i was searching for - but such a slight can be easily overlooked as it is pretty niche. Their wine selection is simply the best I've ever seen in a big store, too! Their rewards program makes it easy to ramp up to the coveted Grand Reserve status, which gives you free admission to their monthly wine tastings. The entire staff in this store is knowledgeable, affable, and otherwise AWESOME! There are sommelier-level experts in the fine wine section who are more than happy to chat with me about any of the finer wines I may be interested in trying. Wow this is BEVMo's long lost brother. I was celebrating a get together with friends at their house and decided to bring party gift. Now I was just driving around after leaving Andersen Bakery (I know you read the review) and stumbled on this place. Picture a BEVMo and that's exactly what you get. Rows and rows for of booze. An alcoholic's dream and a AA councilor worst nightmare. I got lost finding stuff that I need to ask for assistance three times. I got everything and spending so much time deciding what I wanted brand names and microbrewery products. I didn't see the clown shoes or Moritmoto beer because I really wanted those. A few friends and I were heading to a get together and wanted to bring a bottle. We stopped by Total Wines on Saturday, February 9th around 6:45pm. I had no idea this spot had such a great selection of liquor. We ended up getting the Oban Distillers Edition ($89.99). Overall, all the bottles I normally get from a particular wholesale shop nearby (starts with a C) are competitively priced here. I think I had bought a bottle of Hibiki Harmony for about $60 and it was priced a dollar less here. I came back on Saturday, April 28th around 12:15pm with a few friends to do their 1 cent wine tasting. That day they offered 5 different wines. *Brin de Rose 2017 ($11.99) *Cuda Ridge Semillon ($24.99) *Tamayo Cana Red Wine ($14.99) *Line Shack Cabernet San Antonio Vy 2016 ($17.99) *Mascato Vineyards Unanime 2014 Argentina ($23.99) I didn't really care for any of the wines, but the tasting was fun. And the guy that helped us out was sweet. Interactive and told us about the different wines. I had no idea they even offered a tasting for a penny, so a great deal. Late post: Attended a Sip and Swap with some friends which was my first. It was definitely a nice change. Michael was the wine manager who explained to us about the wine we tasted. I'm not a wine connoisseur but have had a few sips here and there. I actually loved the ones we tasted but leaned more towards the one w/ more oak (i think :-)) Store: Very clean, organized, variety of selection from hard liquor to wine to beer. I order my wines directly from winery but today my sister wanted a certain white wine she likes for dinner so I decided to stop by before our dinner time to pick up couple bottles. I saw Alissa - she was moving the cart inside - she saw me then came out and humiliated me front of other customers walking into the store. But I just brushed up since I was in a rush and didn't know it was same person and asking for specific wine in France wine section. She looked at me just told me to go to aisle 4. Okay, thanks but that wasn't that helpful. . Then I was lost again but this another employee offer to help and this time she helped me where the wine was. Alissa didn't want to help me at all. She was extremely rude and unhelpful I felt she was being racist for being an Asian. If you don't feel like working and pick up and choose who to help and be nice or not then take a day off maybe? You don't need to ruin someone else's experiences at a good store. I'll just put it here. Using the neighboring BevMo locations and the San Mateo Total Wines as benchmarks for excellent customer handling, employees here seem miserable and it reflects in their attitude and customer engagement. One time I walked in and greeted the customer service desk and asked for help finding the online pickup area. Staff were chatting and wordlessly point me in the general direction of the pickup area and continued chatting. I walk into BevMo and I'm instantly greeted and offered assistance. Staff in this TW store rarely smile, engage in eye contact and seem impatient at point of sale if you need help with their maze of online coupons. I've been to the San Ramon store to pick up an online purchase for an item that was available at that store. Since I was in the Daly City area, I decided to stop by to check it out. The stores are similarly laid out with the wines on the right side, spirits in the center and beers on the left. Again, I am amazed by the large selection of wines, spirits and beers. You can find obscure distillers, vintners and brewers here. This is like a BevMo on steroids. I like checking out the premium wines that are in the large glass display cases on the right wall. I guess I can dream about buying one of these bottles. On this day, I was searching for some spirits for my bar and found some Koala rum from Hawaii and some liqueur and brandy from St. Georges at reasonable prices. He had us taste some wine that they have set up for tasting (great idea to have a wine tasting inside the store). We bought two boxes/ 24 bottles.
