Great selection of Malbec but the Gewurztraminer and Port sections could use some work. On my last visit they were having a special on all Mark West bottles. I suggest the Pinot Noir, it's smooth and will get it done. The alcohol section could always use improvement but it is nice to see a few brands of Japanese whisky at the ready. Parking is ok but can get hectic during the day so if you're going to make a visit, try to plan at night, it's just more convenient all the way around. I heart BevMo. Especially the "Mo" part. Yes, they have a great champagne and beer selection, and decent wine selection (although I'd like to see more high end wines, but whatever, that's what trips to Napa are for). But the cheese ---- oooooh the cheese. They don't have a huge selection, probably half the size of the grocery store's "premium" cheese section (you know, where they keep the spreadable logs of processed cheese product?) but it's all about quality here. Again, nothing really rare, but a lot of consistently great stuff. For a BevMo without a cheese and antipasti bar, this is pretty solid. As for the "Bev", there are beer tastings on Friday nights and wine tastings on Saturdays around noon. It's a great place to try and learn about new wines, or if you just want to get wasted for $5 at noon on a Saturday. I think the tasting guy's name is Andrew -- but I could be totally wrong -- and he's knowledgeable, hilarious, and if you ask nicely, will give you a second taste of something you particularly like. If enough people are there, the tasting becomes like happy hour at a local bar with an educational component. It's pretty great. Just make sure you have a ride home. read more

Place is always clean. Aisles are organised by category of liquor. Makes things easy. Shelves are always stocked. They have a variety of alcohol your sure to find the one you like or even try something new. Came in yesterday looking for the 5¢ wine deals some of the wines that qualified had a sign if you buy the 1st it's regular price and second one is 5,¢ which is helpful. You don't have to guess which ones qualify it's right there for you. Did a tasting for $2 they have a menu or you can ask the person working the area what they will be sampling. Usually it's a combination of beers, wine and a soda or tea. If you buy anything worth $10 your tasting is free. Instead of wine I decided to try a belching beaver great lei pineapple ipa, and got 2 mini shots of vodka. I received a $2 off coupon from the tasting area, I used it on my purchase and still made it within my minimum $10 so I didn't have to pay for the taster. read more

FRAMBOISE (pronounced fram-bwah). I can't find this sugary, tasty beer anywhere else with the exception of the Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights. This is my staple alcohol next to Hornsby's Hard Apple Cider, which can also be purchased here. This is also the only brick and motar I know of where you can purchase Bawls energy drinks. And despite the fact that BevMo! is technically a specialty store, their prices are really, really great, with or without the sale. When I stop in for the three mentioned, I usually try to buy a bottle of whatever's on sale to try out new wine/beer/spirits. Whether you're just starting to drink or are a fish to alcohol, BevMo! is the place to go. I recently went in looking for some cognac and rum to expand my pallet a bit and did some research beforehand. My research was confirmed when all of my choices were locked in the glass prison. After talking booze with one of the employees I selected some Remy Martin Cognac VSOP, wishing I could drop the extra cash for some Zaya Rum and Remy Martin 1738 Royale. I am giving this bevmo a 3 because they have a decent selection of microbrews, but I recently decided to partake in a mystery 24 pack of beer that says "enjoy the diversity of 24 import and domestic craft brews". CRAFT BREWS are the key words. I didnt expect to open it to find a bunch of bud light bottles mixed amongst gluten free beer and hard cider. All waiting for me to dump them down the drain. Yup, another close-to-home shop that I've neglected to write about. Good? Yes. Friendly? Yes. Cheap? Yes (in a good way). You can expect a well lit, clean store, friendly staff and great prices at this BevMo. Not only did I find the staff friendly, they were helpful too. I asked about their limes and they turned me on to Farm Boy right next door - a welcomed find! With being a new Oceanside resident, I am stoked to have one of these so close. Love IPA's, craft beers, a good cocktail etc. Now fast forward a few months...I can no longer eat Gluten! So all my favorite beers are now no longer being purchased in my home. Bevmo still saves the day, they stock GF brews and ciders, and lots of them. If you want good beer or wine at a good price, this is the place to go. As someone who likes high end beers, I can usually spend a decent amount of time browsing through the aisles, looking for something new. For wine folks, they often have great sales (a common one is certain wines are buy one, get the second for five cents). They also have a very good sake selection, which I appreciate. If you're a Miller Lite and two buck chuck kind of person, there's no need to stop by here. But, if you're looking for some higher quality drinks, you should definitely check it out. When it comes to good deals on wine, this is the place to be!! Normally, its a great place to educate yourself on your booze so I always come in with tons of questions and spend countless minuets skimming through all the aisles reading all the labels of the bottles. I like the fact that they sell shooters as well, cause sometimes you just cant sneak in a whole 750ml bottle of alcohol into an event haha. Customer service is always great here, even on the phone. Best place to come to for alcohol and all the fixings for a cocktail. I shop here for alcohol regardless, but my wedding coordinator suggested that I come here if I decided to supply the alcohol myself rather than go through the caterer. Thank goodness I did this! We originally bought the alcohol (tequila, margarita mix, triple sec, and champagne) for close to 350, and to our surprise, not all of the alcohol had been used. We went back and returned the unused bottles and got our money back! BevMo, as far as I know, is one of the only places that will buy back their liquor, as long as the seal hasn't been broken. The manager also cut us a pretty good deal on the champagne, seeing as we were buying a large amount to begin with. He was also very helpful when it came to telling us how much alcohol we would need; we just overestimated our guests and thought we'd have more alcoholics :-p So if you're planning on having a party, definitely come here. read more

This is one of my all-time favorite places to shop. Not that I'm a lush or anything. *wink* I always have so much fun shopping here and browsing through the different drinks. They have a huge selection of alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages, glassware, snacks, and other alcohol related items. The aisles are well-labeled and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Pretty great selection!! I'm a big fan of a certain Moscato that I have not found at any other stores around San Diego. (I have found it online cheaper.) The selection of unique chocolate bars and chips etc are great additions to parties and just plain fun to try (Bacon candy bar?!) I've recently tried a candy bar there I can't live without and can't find elsewhere. Domestic beers are definitely higher priced than elsewhere, but they're always having sales and are great for getting everything you need for your event/party. The cashiers are always making wine suggestions, a few of which i have tried, but never been thrilled with. They have told me they will "buy back" a bottle of wine if they suggest it and you aren't impressed. I have not tried/confirmed this for myself. I noticed a few other comments about lack of customer service on the floor. I have witnessed this as well. I generally don't need assistance, but have trouble finding it/finding people who care when I do. read more

Lots to choose from. A little confusing on first visit. But after you been here a few time you get the hang of it. Was surprised to find out they didn't have what I was looking for. I was looking for the new Malibu Spritzer they have been advertising all over tv. But the manager said it usually takes them at least a month to get it in. Most of the time the employees are nice but we have run into a few bad apples that came close to spoiling our experiences. Its technically retail though so we don't have the highest expectations. I find myself educating the people selling me spirits and wine more often then I would like. I was recently looking for a specialty whiskey that is part of a tradition for our friendsgiving. After going to five stores, BevMo was the only one that had the grouse. Their store is neatly arranged by alcohol type and is well staffed if you have questions. The center aisle has seasonal specialties from pumpkin spice to winter beverages. BevMo is quite possibly the happiest place on Earth. It easily replaces Tijuana, and if you ever find yourself having to finish up your Christmas shopping on December 24, well, stop on by and grab a 1.75 liter bottle of Hornitos. Or you could go with a Sam Adams Variety Pack if you don't really like the person you're shopping for, but have to give them a gift. If I had to find some sort of fault with BevMo, I suppose it would be that they don't have peeps handing out free samples like at Costco. Hella weak.
