This is my second time visiting so now I must talk about their vegetarian tacos. I've tried them and have something to say. 1. They are better with beans and cheese because it adds more flavor. Plus, choose your favorite salsa, there's added flavor. 2. The veggies are too chunky for tacos. Imagine biting into a taco and it's a bite of a whole zucchini with corn tortilla. Then it's an onion and corn tortilla, with maybe some guac and added salsa. Then it's a chunk of yellow squash. In tacos, veggies need to be diced smaller so the various veggies and ingredients fit in the mouth. Today, it wasn't cut properly. 3. Ordering a side of beans means refried beans and cheese. I thought I would use these beans to add to the tacos, which I still did, but it's not whole beans like it is when you order Coast Style (beans and cheese). The beans are good though. 4. The corn tortillas and salsas are the best part. Here's my biggest opinion - 5. Veggie tacos should already come with beans! Why are vegetarians paying the same price for a carne asada taco and we still have to request beans (and cheese) to be charged $1.50? Kinda crazy. 6. Don't bother with the veggie mulita. The veggies just fall out because they're so juicy so it's hard to eat and you end up eating it like a taco anyway (with no guac). Their Baja lager is a great beer though. I'd pick up a 6-pack of their Mexican lager for sure. read more

We stopped at Craft Coast around 6:30pm and must have beaten the rush because we grabbed an outdoor table right before it got BUSY! Such a fun, laid-back beachy vibe and the location is perfect. You can kind of see the water, but more importantly you can FEEL it. We walked along the pier afterward which was a great way to end the night. We were both pretty jet-lagged and I wasn't feeling my best, so we unfortunately couldn't eat as much as we wanted. The birria tacos were definitely the standout! Tender beef, cheesy, crispy on the outside and SO good. I would 100% get those again. I got the pollo asado taco bowl with cheese. The chicken and grilled veggies were fresh and good, but I found myself wishing it had something a little more substantial like rice. Nuzz got the carne asada mulitas and loved them. Very cheesy and he'd definitely order them again. We also got chips and guac, which was fresh and definitely worth ordering. The salsa wasn't really our favorite since we prefer it chunkier. You scan a QR code at the table to order and pay, which was pretty cool, and the food came out FAST. The staff was really friendly too, especially the guy who helped wrap everything up when he realized we weren't eating much. Bonus points for the Cokes in big glass bottles! The tap water, however... not so much It was kind of warm and definitely not my favorite. My only real disappointment? NO FISH TACOS! At the beach!! A small taco place in an industrial park area. They have lots of outdoor seating and indoor a well. The have a wall of craft beer on tap behind the registers and the line can get long quick but they are able to get all the orders in fairly fast. We grabbed a table inside but the sun was glaring right at us and it was so bad we had to move. You get a buzzer and once your food is ready you go out to the truck outside where they are preparing all the food. They have a small salsa bar next to the grill. Prices aren't bad but they're not cheap. I just got one mulita as I wasn't too hungry and I was a bit disappointed. It was not really close to their photos of it online and it felt a bit underwhelming. My friend also got one but she enjoyed so maybe my experience was just off. Salsa was good though! Here is the right way to go about craft coast- grab 1 birria taco, 2 al pastor and a beer. You first eat the birria- it's fire just trust. You eat birria first, so it's crunchy and not soggy. Then you eat al pastor, a piece of pineapple makes it a bomb combo. You can get different salsa on the side depending on your spice tolerance or desire. Service is quick, the only dig I would give this place is that the tables aren't too clean, because there is a constant flow of people, but nothing stops tot from taking a napkin and wiping it down. read more

We enjoyed this spot that's a close walk to Oceanside Pier. This brewery has self service outdoor and indoor seating. Order inside and the food is brought to you. I was so excited to try this place out that I drove all the way from Point Loma to try it! I ordered the carne asada nachos and the birria bowl. The carne asada is definitely worth the hype and the extra 50 cent charge. It is tender, well seasoned, and delicious. It pairs perfectly with all the nacho toppings and I would 100% come back just for these. As for the birria bowl, I have to admit that it wasn't the most authentic birria I have ever had. It didn't have much flavor to it, but it did pair nicely with all the ingredients in the bowl. Next time, I would just stick with the carne asada though. It's a very popular place for folks to watch the sports game, to grab a drink, and eat tacos. When I was there, it was packed and busy. In one area, you can purchase drinks. In the other, you can order tacos and see it being made. I ordered a can of beer and they made it fresh on the spot. They filled an empty can with beer from the tap, topped it with a lid, and used a machine to put it together. The design on the beer was very cool. The can was huge and cost was affordable, so the whole experience felt like a win. They were water on tap. It did not taste filtered at all and was difficult to drink. Overall, I'd only stop by if I was there to get a quick drink and to watch the game. Otherwise, it felt like a rather crowded and chaotic environment. read more

Walked down here from our hotel and couldn't have been happier! The restaurant has a really cool social vibe with standing tables, great outdoor seating, and although it was packed it didn't feel claustrophobic. The service was quick and efficient, no slowing down with that high demand. The quality of the food was amazing! The tortillas were fresh and tasty while all of the meat were great cuts, very tender. I feel like you can't have a good taco without a little grease and this place does it right. As someone that has access to tacos in LA, I feel like San Diego takes the cake and these are the best I have had so far. Counter service where you order your food and drink. Drinks are served at the counter, and your food is brought to your table when prepared. There appears to be a way to order with a QR code at the table, but you still need to get drinks from the counter. Ordered chips and salsa and also some guacamole as well. The chips and salsa were good but not great. The guacamole was quite tasty. The tacos are where this place really shines. I had birria and al pastor tacos and both were excellent. Tacos are $5.25 with add-ons about a dollar more. In my opinion, the tacos are a little over-stuffed. A minor suggestion. I'd rather have three less stuffed tacos rather than two with too much in the tortilla. BTW, the tortillas are also excellent. Mexican lager served with lime and a 'cold IPA'. Cold IPA means that it's fermented cold versus warm. Was quite good crisp and hoppy. The Mexican lager was also very good. There's also a selection of wine and Mexican soft drinks that we didn't try. The cut of "skirt steak", if you want to call it that, was extremely tiny pieces of diced "steak". The steak was cut smaller than pico de gallo. Tiny. It was a perfect meal . This is definitely a great choice for sharing with others. My family tried various tacos and enjoyed each variety including birria, el pastor and Carne Asada. The beer was good. The only complaint I had was about the watermelon agua. I thought it would be fresh, but it was served in a can and had a weird aftertaste. The food came quickly to our table. The servers were friendly. The atmosphere was festive. It's close to the beach so people are there to have a good time. It's casual. I heard about this spot from someone not even from Cali, so I had to check it out--and they did not disappoint! Their birria is top-tier, definitely in my top ten. Coming down from Los Angeles to the San Diego area, this place is a must-try. My parents had the chicken tacos, and they looked amazing. The guacamole was spot-on, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Next time, I'd consider getting a bowl to keep the carbs in check--whether it's beef or chicken, you can't go wrong.
