Hiya B.U.M.S., Visiting Oceanside with the family always promises great coastal views, and taking the elevator up to The Rooftop Bar at Mission Pacific Hotel sets the bar high right from the start. As you walk up to the host stand, you get an incredible view of the beach and the iconic Oceanside Fishing Pier. While our initial table setup was a bit tight and uneven, the seating host accommodated us graciously. Even with a fully booked reservation calendar, she made quick adjustments to move us to a comfortable spot with an unbeatable view. We ordered: House Chips: Crispy and packed with a delicious, zesty BBQ-style seasoning. Shrimp Toast: Easily a standout on the menu--flavorful, savory, and a total hit. Prime Beef Steak: Cooked to a spot-on medium-rare without unnecessary heavy toppings, letting the quality of the meat shine. Shrimp Special & Side Salad: The salad and off-menu shrimp special missed the mark for our personal taste--the shrimp packed a heavy kick of salt and spice that wasn't mentioned beforehand. Despite a couple of food misses, the ocean breeze, stunning scenery, and attentive service made for an enjoyable family outing. We are already looking forward to returning to spend time at the hotel and pool deck! Tips: Book Early: Because the venue fills up fast with reservations, booking in advance gives you the best chance at a spacious table right along the glass railing. Ask About Spice Levels: If anyone in your party is sensitive to heat, double-check the ingredients on daily specials before ordering. rooftop bar Would you rather eat at a rooftop bar without a view or a street view restaurant with an amazing view? Add your thoughts to the comments!

Make reservations! I was staying at the hotel so decided to come by. Luckily we had reservations or I think there would be a decent wait. Honestly, it was alright. We waited sooo long to be served once seated, and also really long for the food and drinks to arrive. Very expensive cocktails: $18. Food was expensive and very small portions. Music was quite loud and it was really hard to hear

Just me on a beautiful day in O-side! Lunch with hubby at the Rooftop.

Hubby and I decided to try the Rooftop after walking the Surf Festival. Our server, Austin, was attentive and friendly. The tuna tartare was fresh with a little spice. Hubby had the shrimp toast. Now this dish is worth the visit alone. Delicious!! I came at noon so there was a light crowd with chill music that was just a little loud. But the perfect scenic spot for a light lunch.

Visited the Rooftop Bar in Oceanside for some drinks on a beautiful Saturday. It was busy but we were able to get a table, enjoy some drinks with excellent service and then wander over to the bar to visit with the bartenders. Sitting at the bar was a lot of fun, we enjoyed how pretty the bar was, how friendly and personable the bartenders were and how delicious the drinks were. The view here is unmatched, it's worth paying the price for slightly pricey drinks just to drink in the view for a while. Just simply enter the lobby of the Marriott and ride the elevator to the top floor and visit the hostess. Let her know I sent you for absolutely no discount on anything but the view.

This place is a vibe for sure. I loved the decor and ambiance. The fire place was nice and the breeze from the window was refreshing. We sat at the bar so we didnt get to enjoy the beach view but it was still nice. The drinks were very tasty and the bar tenders were professional. The drinks were made right in front of us. We had a good time.

We went to the Rooftop Bar for my bestie's birthday and basically ordered our way through the entire menu! Most of it didn't even make it into the pictures because we were too busy eating. The stars of the show were definitely the artichokes and oysters--both were absolutely incredible and are must-orders in my opinion. The cocktails were also amazing and paired perfectly with everything we ordered. The patio had such a fun, lively atmosphere while still being conversational, and you truly cannot beat the views. It's the kind of place where you can enjoy great food and drinks while taking in the scenery. We had such a great time and would definitely come back!

Such a wonderful place to celebrate a happy hour for my birthday, Invited by my bestie. The best rooftop views for sure. The pool area is the place to be, the music vibes are another level and nothing like a fall asleep there while listening to the hypnotic sounds and in the background the sound of the waves. What a great life feeling is what you feel at The Rooftop. We got some beers and the eggplant spread of crudites, olives and cheese and the fries and all was great. Servers were attentive and very nice..all excellent.

Service here can be spotty but this visit it was good. The shareables are a great option for a group and the food is good. It's pricey but I expect that since it's attached to the hotel. They have a summer concert series that we will check out. It's a pretty setup up and the views are great.

If you can get a table with a view, it's amazing: especially at sunset. The servers are always friendly. We usually get shareables to eat, and we have liked everything we've tried.

Beautiful views and food with character! Came for a birthday weekend getaway and absolutely enjoyed the personable customer service by Austin at the Rooftop Bar. Food was delicious, drinks were strong...spectacular views! Bliss!

We purchased daypasses to the rooftop pool at the Mission Pacific Hotel on Sunday and ordered some small plates and drinks on our visit. Our server for the whole day was Noah, and HUGE props to that young man!! He was always one step ahead of us asking for ANYTHING and that was on top of being completely swamped with guests. He was fun, energetic, professional, and so well versed with their offerings which was a big reason why our first ever visit was one to remember and one to keep us coming back. Thank you Noah, we hope to see you again soon at the pool & we hope that you get recognition you deserve for outstanding service! Now, to the food and drinks! We ordered the seafood tower, bottle of sparkling rose and laphroaig on the rocks to start. The seafood tower... well... it was as fresh tasting as it gets. The accouterments were superb in pairing with the oysters... and the tuna tartare as well as the marinated sea bass were absolutely delicious especially paired with the perfectly seasoned tarot root chips. After the rose disappeared, I ordered the Teramar cocktail and it was what you would imagine should be drank poolside. A perfect balance of sweet, sour and tropical all in one. Later I ordered 3 (or 4 I don't remember haha) of the winter glow. Now, I dont like vanilla flavored adult beverages, but I saw it had earl grey tea, and I was intrigued. Well safe to say... I really really like it. It was like nothing ive had before and soooo smooth for what was in it. Definitely give that one a try! We also ordered the chicken sando and shrimp toast. The chicken sando was perfect, but the shrimp toast? Chefs kiss! I could eat that all day if you let me. Again, I have to say that Noah made our experience so much better... and although it was SO very busy, he did his absolute best to communicate slow downs happening at the bar and just made sure we knew we were never being forgotten. My boyfriend, his mom, and myself were and are still blown away. We will 100% be back, hopefully on a more regular basis. This place is exactly the hype everyone states online. Its gorgeous in all parts of its property, and the service you get is top notch. Make sure to give this spot a try!!! And I hope you get the pleasure of being served by Noah on your visit. Make sure to take a look at my photos! I made sure to take a photo of all pages of the menu along with our orders.

    Perfect to watch the sunset.

Ask the Community - The Rooftop Bar

    Is it kid friendly?

We've brought our kids here (6/7 yo on our first visit). It was great.

What oysters are currently being served (november '23)? Last time I was here it was the Cape Cods and looking to enjoy them again.

    Do they have gift certificates/cards?

Is there a happy hour menu?

No We asked that yesterday They do not have one

Hello, do you think on a Friday afternoon we'd be able to enjoy the bar without a reservation?

Nobody is there You should be fine

Do you have a kids' menu on the rooftop?

Hi Adrienne, we do have kids offerings; which includes chicken tenders, quesadilla, and steak tacos

    Is a reservation required?

There's an upper level (by the bar) and a lower level for seating. You don't need one for the upper level, but you will need one for the lower level if you want to sit down on a busy weekend afternoon.

    Is there a happy hour?

Hey there. There isn’t a happy hour yet. But possibly in the future!

Are dogs allowed on Rooftop Bar?

Yes we are dog friendly at the rooftop! :)

Do accept reservations? Do you have music? What time do you close? Thank you,…

Hi Alicia, We do currently accept reservations. If you go to the Mission Pacific Hotel website and scroll down to The Rooftop Bar, there is a link to our reservation portal…

My husband and I stopped in to Frankie's on a recent Saturday at 5pm. Our kiddo had a performance down the street at 6pm so we had a little time to kill beforehand. The neighboring spots looked busy so we decided to go with Frankie's, seeing as they were less inundated at the time and we had a time constraint. Another allure was the sandwich board at the front door advertising discounted cocktails - sold!! Inside there were a handful of patrons at the bar, another table with two additional patrons and maybe a couple on the patio so it was fairly quiet and slow, so it looked promising. We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.
