Good location to pickup my SNAKE bite drink. Sucks they only sell them in four packs though. I always try to stop by here if I'm in the area cause they don't sell it in the South Bay. Came into here the other night with my Halloween costume and got some friendly laughs from the workers while looking for the BITE. I'd give them four stars cause they were NEVER out of the snake bite. I remember the first time I came in I bought all the cold bottles they had, LOL. I typically go to this BevMo before or after grocery shopping at the nearby Whole Foods. It's not the best liquor store but the prices and selection are decent, the employees are nice and somewhat knowledgeable, and, um, it smells nice in there. Plus, they've got their regular 5-cent sale on wines, which is a terrific way to discover new wines. I mean, how can you really know whether or not you like a wine after just one bottle? how can you not like this place???? I really do not know this place has almost every kind of liquor, wine, beer you can think of. Well they do not have everything but they do have a pretty large selection that would take forever to really go through. i love the sales here, how can you not like the 5 cent wine sale buy one get one for a nickel GENIOUS!!!!!!!!! Also if you come in on Saturdays they have wine and cheese tasting in the back, although you do have to stand in this small square area in the the back so the amount of people is limited. Still a nice little extra when you go in on a nice Saturday to pick up a few things. Added bonus for being only 2 blocks from my house. We can get there in a few minutes by walking or riding our bikes. the only gripe is that BevMo is not open late. Many times I wish they were open past 9 but utter failure aside from that the place is spot on. read more

There's nothing to really distinguish this store in a positive or negative way. I didn't have a club card so they gave me one to get all the various discounts that come with it. More importantly lets talk about the placement of the building. The street layout here is something of a joke I can only assume was designed intentionally to cause accidents. I probably wont go to this location anymore simply because the roads promote too much stupid driving to make me feel comfortable. You must cross several lanes of traffic to turn left, and wait in a line that allows for 1.5 cars ensuring most anyone trying to do this is sideways blocking multiple lanes. An idiot ran the red light and went around me on the right to get in front of me at the left turn. He saved zero seconds as I pulled in behind him when the light turned green 15 seconds later, but people wouldn't drive like this if the road design made any sense (or maybe they would). read more

This review may be a bit unfair, but here is what happened to me today. I needed to pick up a few bottles of wine for various events and special occasions that are sneaking up on me. So I'm browsing the shelves and I toss in a 2002 Twomey Merlot ($59.00), a French Medoc ($45.00) 2003 Stags Leap Petite Sirah ($37.00 I think) and I also pick up a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin gift set for around $20.00 for my Dad (I figure for Christmas-he loves his Martini's). I make one more pass around and find a bottle of 2001 Hanna Syrah that is normally around $40.00 that is on sale where the deal is you buy one bottle and you get the second for a nickle! I figure, hmmm "good deal" So I pick up the bottle and start rummaging looking for a second bottle and cant fine one. So I ask the checker if they have anymore in back and they come back and say, "nope, sorry that's the last one". I ask if I can just get the discount since they only have one left and they say "nope, sorry". I then say "what if I pick up another bottle of equal price or more then can I get the discount?". Nope, sorry. This kind of put me off. Here I was holding $165 or so in purchases (not including the Hanna) and they were not being helpful at all. Just did not appear to me that they valued my business one bit. So I went back into the aisle's and placed each item back and left the store and went down to the Wine Globe and bought my wine and a bottle of Hine Cognac (instead of the Bombay Sapphire). Am I being unreasonable? I don't know, maybe I just don't understand the retail business enough and the store was in no position to do anything. Who knows. read more

A smaller BevMo than most, they don't always carry everything in their sale ad (such as the advertised chips). They do have a friendly, helpful staff that will give you suggestions if you are undecided on what to buy, and their opinions on what not to buy rather than just trying to sell you something. They may not carry the top of the line wines if you are looking for an impressive gift wine, but easy enough to find something for your "I need a drink" nights! read more

I'm giving two stars because all the other reviews speak so highly of the staff that perhaps I have been there on poor staffing days. I've been to this location three times, and not a single time can I remember being acknowledged by any member of the staff. The last time I was there was the worst. It was a weekday in the early afternoon, and every employee was standing around, loudly conversing with each other, using EXTREMELY foul language (I heard the f-word a half dozen times at full volume), joking about alcoholism, and speaking pretty crassly about women. I am a retail manager, and we teach "eye's, hi's, and help." Make eye contact with EVERY customer, greet them with a smile, and offer assistance. This would be an excellent training opportunity, and I hope someone at this location reads this. I don't doubt their knowledge of their goods/services, and the location is clean, well-stocked, and affordable. But the customer service has been so lacking every time I've been in that it negates any good things. You are in a service industry, folks. The customer signs your checks, treat them well. read more

BevMo is really hit or miss to me. Sometimes I love it, other times I'm really disappointed. Their selection is better than a liquor store, but far less than places like Total Wine. The prices in general are pretty high, but it works to go to when you want to look for something a local liquor store won't have. Don't let the 5 cent wine sale fool you though! This location is severely understaffed! the other bevmo locations I've been to always have happy employees stocking shelves and ready to help. The afternoon we showed up had one cashier and one floor employee. Ultimately we got what we needed but I didn't like the layout and small location. So I've been a customer of this location for many years. One of the best things about the .5 cent sale has been the ability to return unopened bottles that you just don't care for. Now, there is a new policy and you can not return unopened bottles of wine. I know the .5 cent sale isn't going to give me much but when you buy a bottle and really don't enjoy it you should be able to take the rest back or at least do an exchange. I will not be going back for my wine in the future. read more

Love BevMo, although this location has always been sold out of my favorite single malt scotch "Macallans" 12yr, every time I've been there. Pretty knowledgeable staff. Once asked for advice on a good blanco tequila other than Patron Silver and one of the employees had one for me (Corralejo)...He was so sure that I would love "his dad's favorite after work tequila" that he offered to buy it back from me if I didn't like it. Bingo, he was right! Great place to pick up the hard to find Kona Brewing Company beers at a nice price! This place is right by me which means that my wine cravings are almost always satiated quickly. The hours kind of suck so don't go too late. You can get a pretty good deal here with there's the nickel sale (which basically is that you buy one wine and get another bottle [of the same] for a nickel. I live in the neighborhood and stop by frequently. Every Bevmo pretty much has the same stuff but Laura, the manager(?), is the reason I return. She is a star. Anytime I need something or have a question she cheerfully takes care of it. Good customer service is hard to come by, ESP at the Redwood City Bevmo, so kudos to Laura. If I could give zero stars, I would. I walked into the store this evening, with 30 minutes left before closing time, to return four wines that I had purchased from a different BevMo. I had every intention if purchasing 4 more wines, and I made that very clear. Not only did the clerk, Wanda, roll her eyes, huff and puff, and sigh in disgust at me trying to return for 4 wines, she told me they had to be returned to the same location where I purchased them because "it messes with their inventory." Now I understand large corporations, and I know that is not the case. She also said she had already closed her drawer and it was "going to mess everything up." I left the store with extreme disappointment due to her lack of customer service. Will never be going back to that location. Way to go, Wanda! read more

My Tale of Disappointment. I went in yesterday to buy wine (two bottles for a get-together and one bottle for a gift). I found the get-together wines easily but was struggling to find a good bottle of wine for the gift. So asked it there was someone there who could help me. The person I asked walked over to the racks and stared blankly at the descriptions, seeing that she was totally at a loss, I asked if there was someone else who knew anything about wines. She went "in the back" and came out later and pointed at one of the ones I was looking at (the most expensive) and said this one was the "best". I described what I was looking for, a cabernet sauvignon with strong dark fruit underlain by soft tannins (I was trying to avoid a "tannin bomb"). She went in the back to ask their expert again, when she returned she pointed (at what I know now) was randomly to one of the wines I was looking at and said this is the one the person in the back recommended this one. So, hoping for the best, I bought a bottle - it got opened at the get together ... it was a "tannin bomb", no fruit at all. :( The person I spoke to seemed clueless (at best) - she might be able to possibly tell the difference between a white wine and a red wine but that is about all she could handle. I can not understand why a store with most of its floor space dedicated to wine, would hire someone who understands NOTHING about wine, who doesn't seem to knowledgeable about anything, and (being kind) is clueless. Don't bother to provide any training? My advice if you go here is don't ask for advice or information on anything - because you won't get any advice that will be of use or helpful. read more

I was in this store a couple montha ago-bought almost $100 worth of wine and didn't get a smile or a thank you from the clerk! I decided to give them another chance today. The clerk tried to charge me full price for wine. She didn't hear me tell her I didn't have my card because she was too busy yelling to some guy asking if he was busy so she could take a break. She rerung my purchase, was on the phone and talking to that guy at the same time my receipt was hanging out of the machine. She never said thank you or have a nice day. I had to interrupt her conversation with her coworker to ask for the receipt. Talk about making me feel like I was doing them a favor by being there! I will not shop at Bev Mo for a long time! Been a BevMo customer for quite a while, but I've caught them overcharging me twice at this store alone, and my sister-in-law's been overcharged in SF. I've brought wine to the register from the 5-cent sale, but noticed the total was too high. When I asked, they told me, "Oh no, this one NEVER goes on sale." I walked them to the price posted on the shelf, showed them their error and they honored the price. A month later, I go back. Same exact thing happens. Same dialog, everything. Only a bonus snotty attitude. Told them to cancel and void the sale. NEVER going back. I'd rather pay more at another place then be robbed by the "cheaper" guy. read more

I came here to get some supplies for a party on my birthday, and I was pretty happy that the prices seem lower than most stores (especially after coming from Draeger's). They have basically all the hard alcohol a teenager can think of, many wine selections and a ton of different shot glasses. We ended up taking home 8 shot glasses (the last 8 they had), a shaker and some coctail mix. Pretty cool place for party supplies. read more
