I was thrilled to see this spot open in my neighborhood, but soon came to realize it's a joke. They are almost always out of cold IPA's in their fridge and have a limited selection. Then when they aren't out of stock or they charge 40% more then any other place in the area! They even charge more then BevMo.com! They are charging the neighborhood like it's on Las Vegas boulevard, but don't be fooled, you can go 2 blocks in any direction and save a ton of money. Any mom and pop liquor store or 711 beats their prices. Don't waste your time here, do your wallet a favor and go to a liquor store who isn't a greedy green monster. read more

This place rules. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and genuinely loves to booze and share the wealth of info they possess. Who can deny the beauty of the 5 cent wine sale??! Parking is easy either on the street or in their small underground lot. It is next to CVS but that CVS blows so I would only dip in and out for alcohol or beer. I did a $ 1 beer tasting which I enjoyed and found interesting. I love that they carry a wide array of alcohol and beer and at moderate prices. I used to be a BevMo customer, but yesterday they swiped my drivers license into a scanner without asking my permission. As a former victim of identity theft, I find this unconscionable. The prices are competitive and you can't beat the variety, whether you are looking for liquor, beer, wine, or mixers. They do beer and wine tastings on Fri and Sat which is a fun way to start the night and helps to pick what you want to buy. I love that it's right next to CVS because we usually get drinks AND snacks, so it's super convenient. Also, there is an enclosed parking lot downstairs. The only downsides are that they charge for bags (everywhere in SM does, but I always forget when I come here) and I have pretty much always had to wait in line. They have multiple registers but they NEVER have more than one open at a time, so if you get stuck behind the person stocking up for a party, get comfortable. It's worth it to get a BevMo card because it always saves us a couple bucks and it's free. Also a good place to buy inexpensive glassware, if you're replacing a part of a set, or just need some extras for an occasion. read more

Used to be my go to place until they had a random price hike on ALL beer. This goes out to all Bevmos and has nothing to do with the staff. But when you can go to whole foods (a place people joke about being super overpriced regularly) and buy a speedway stout for 2 dollars cheaper, well that warrants a one star rating. I called to ask about reserving a keg and they were very unhelpful. First, it says they have the keg in stock online, which the store says is incorrect. The person on the line said sometimes the website is wrong which is terrible customer service and they are clearly just trying to seem like they have a bigger selection then they do. Then, the person on the line kept telling me they had bottles in stock and then she said they didn't and back and forth and back and forth. I think I'm done with shopping at BevMo. Medium-sized BevMo connected strangely to a CVS. Lots of unrefrigerated hoppy beers languishing on the floor. Saw some Bootleggers, Grand Teton, and Big Sky beers along with usual suspects. Nothing really caught my eye. Lots of beer was collecting dust. Wouldn't be my go to beer place. Weird ciders in stock. read more

The worst customer service out of my favorite drink, they told me they don't accept cash 30 min before closing, when their low on coin change they said do I need the pennies. This place is right up the street from me, so it's very convenient, but gives consistent poor service on checkout, with one person on a register while the others mill around like it's a lunch room. But what really baffled me was what happened earlier in the week. I went in to get some ginger beer and tonic water. When I went to check out I was asked for my ID. I asked why was being carded when I was not purchasing any alcohol. I was told by the representative that they card for EVERY purchase, alcohol or not. This made absolutely no sense to me. I completely understand carding for alcoholic purchases, and have no problem showing it every time. But for a bag of ice?! Come on... When I spoke to a manger about this policy I was told that nobody is allowed in BevMo who is under 21 without an adult (Club BevMo apparently), and the reason ID is required is because some alcoholic beverages look like non-alcoholic beverages. So they're basically conceding that their staff doesn't know their inventory and is incapable of reading labels on checkout like EVERY other liquor store to know if it contains alcohol. Great policy guys. You sure know customer service! I'll gladly do my alcohol shopping (and non-alcohol shopping as well I guess) across the hall at CVS or any of the various other liquor stores around the area. Unbearably incompetent. Made an order three plus weeks ago, something was not in stock at the moment I ordered and was told it would be in stock next week. Almost a month passes before I remember my order and call to inquire about the missing item and am promised a call back. Not so shockingly no one calls me back. Fast-forward to today and I call back and am told my order is ready. Go into retrieve and the original missing item is still out of stock. I have had to call this store time and time again at a drop of a dime for deliveries and pickups for last minute company parties. Every time I have called them they have put out my fires and with awesome customer service and a can do attitude. They have a extensive list of wines and beers, even on line! I come here to buy my usual stash of scotch/whiskey/bourbon. Every time I cruise the aisle, someone always come by to ask if I have any questions. They're quite helpful, as there always seems to be someone there who is a relative expert on spirits. You can either get lucky with parking out front or use their free lot which is shared with CVS. The Wilshire location is convenient for the West Los Angeles crowd, so I but all my alcohol here. (Unless I get it from Costco, of course.) read more

So it's a Friday morning and BevMo has been open less than an hour and there are maybe 10 people in the store and NO one here can answer questions about wine? I could understand if it was a weekend and it was packed, but it wasn't and the several employees we spoke to could careless about us let alone want to help. The best response was when the so call wine expert pointed at a bottle a said "get this" and just kept walking down the aisle with even asking if we had additional question. The experience with the cashier wasn't much better as we expressed our concern on the lack of help and he didn't even acknowledge it. BevMo is just another big box with little to add to the customer. I didn't see Saint Peter as I passed through the pearly sliding glass doors of this wine shop but I'm convinced it was heaven. And as I crossed over the standard storefront threshold I was teleported to some kind of glorious, boozy paradise filled with shiny, tinted bottles of fermented goodness. I moved through the isles with a childlike glee as my mind boggled over such exquisite selection. I'm still convinced the prices are at least a decimal off because you would have to be crazy to charge these low of prices. On the customer service side, look for a guy with Clark Kent hair and a healthy albeit slightly unkempt beard. Overlook his tendency to repeat boring stories and buy whatever he suggests. Bev Mo is a great place to purchase beverages for large parties and gatherings, and their prices are affordable. I went with a friend of mine who was in need of wine for a party and she got a huge discount with her Bev Mo card. They also offer periodic wine sales for as low as 5 cents, which is a great deal for wine drinkers. I purchased some non-alcoholic items, water, soda and tea, and it was relatively cheaper than Ralphs or Vons. This is a great location and ideal for those who love their wine. read more

I live close by in Santa Monica and this place ROCKS!!!! I go there at least twice a week and the staff is always SUPER friendly and knowledgeable. There's also a couple of SMOKING HOT cashiers too. The people that always help me there are this bigger black guy whose always in front of the store and this shorter white guy long hair. They are the BEST!!!! read more

My husband and I got married in May 2016 and went to BevMo to get wine and a wine box for short wine box portion of our wedding ceremony. We were very pleased with their large selection of wine, as well as the fact that they had wine boxes at the store! We got a lovely wooden wine box and a nice bottle of merlot. The reason I'm docking a star is that there was no one at the register or anywhere to be seen for the first time 10 minutes we were there. Seemed pretty unprofessional to just leave the store unattended for 10 minutes... but someone finally came out to help us and we bought the wine box and wine for the ceremony, as well as another bottle for a pre-wedding celebration. Parking isn't terrible, considering it's on Wilshire Blvd - there's parking out front, as well as street parking nearby. If I'm in need of wine or a wine box when I'm in LA in the future, I know BevMo is the place for that. read more

I bought some plastic martini glasses along with about $230 of booze for a party I was hosting. Went back 2 weeks later to return the unopened plastic martini glasses accompanied with the receipt. The manager at the Santa Monica store says they have a return policy of 7 days. She said it was on the receipt and that the receipt had expired so they couldn't take the glasses back ($25). It's crap this was not alcohol but plastic glasss. I will no longer shop at. Bel Mo for any reasons. Couldn't find their posted return policy. I would avoid them...return policy not customer friendly. read more
