We had Bevrick's cater our son's wedding this weekend for both the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception in Statesboro, Ga. Everything from the planning stage, the setup, the presentation, the staff, the food, the service to the clean up was top notch. Not only was everything executed as we had requested but great suggestions were made that made it better. So many guest commented on the wonderful food and the great service. # 1 ?????? YELP you failed me for the first time!!! Wished we never stopped there. Don't mind fried food if it is done right and with quality ingredients. Had the same things in Savannah (fried green tomatoes, crab cakes) at two different places and the ones here were to say the least undesirable. I really just could not finish the 2nd crab cake and the batter on the fried green tomates was not right. We went on Wednesday evening. After reading the reviews we were really expecting to get our socks not off. The salad bar is very limited. Iceberg lettuce and a small selection of your standard pre grated chopped stuff. Mild cheese, beets, eggs, sorta the size bar I remember from when Wendy's had a salad bar. Canned pudding oreo delight and soft serve ice cream. The hot bar had good fried chicken, baked chicken, and yummy fried shrimp. The made from scratch mashed potatoes and peach cobbler were delicious. The greens and Lima beans were too salty to eat. The yeast rolls delivered to the table with whipped spread were under cooked and tasted like dough. We will not go back unless it would be on seafood night. A Friday fish fry would probably be a good bet. read more

The best Country Fried Steak that I have had in my life!!! I noted some positive yelps for BevRicks and made a note of it for my drive back to north Atlanta. Those Yelpers who pointed out how good the Country Fried Steak made no exaggeration ... it is the best Country Fried Steak that I have had in my life ... there used to be a chain restaurant called the Black Eyed Pea that did a great job with Country Fried Steak but that place has been out of business for years and there is no other restaurant that has come close ... until now at BevRicks. The Country Fried Steak entree is huge, it arrives smothered in that white "southern" gravy that was also better than usual! ... the Country Fried Steak turned out to be even more than I can finish in one sitting and I'm a big eater! You get to add a side item with the meals ... I added the salad bar to the meal (extra $1.99) and it was ok... "iceberg lettuce" was kind of a let down but the rest of it was fine and the potato salad that I found on there was great (I hope it was homemade since so much here seems to be)... there was a couple distinctly "southern" deserts on the salad bar as well but I could not bear to try them after the Country Fried Steak. Our waitress was attentive, courteous and even sweet... it appears that seems to be something you find it towns like Metter more than in other places. This restuarant is as casual of a dining establishment as you will ever find. We were here around 11:30 AM on a Sunday and by noon the place was really filling up with locals! There is handicapped parking right in front of the sizable lot and BevRicks is just a stone's throw from the I-16 interstate ... you can see the highway from their parking lot. Me and my family were passing by when we saw a sign for this place. So we decided to stop to have dinner there tonight. My kids loved it! On Friday and Saturday nights it's all you can eat seafood buffet for $14.95 adults and $6.99 for kids 10 and under. I'm not a big seafood eater but I tried alot of it and it was very good. I stopped here purely based on reviews and my family was so happy we did. My bacon burger was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. My wife got the country fried steak. The steak was HUGE and delicious. She was only able to eat half. My chips and sauce were addictive and my wife loved the fried green tomatoes. Like others mentioned, we were offered dessert included in our meals. We were so full from our meals we couldn't eat another bite. The best part was the wonderful service. Thanks Kathy! I-16 in Georgia can be a desolate stretch of road without many good options for food, especially if you are looking for a place to take a break and sit down to rest and have a good meal. We found this place with Yelp and weren't disappointing. It's a local mom and pop place, located on a frontage road, that features good classic american food. The service was friendly and outstanding from the waitstaff to the cashier. They have a menu with several options you would expect from Sandwiches and salads to full meals like Chicken, Steak, and Seafood. They also have a Buffet and Salad Bar option that is very reasonably priced. We were there on a Friday so choices included fried fish and shrimp and hush puppies, along with several vegetables, fried chicken, BBQ, etc. They also have an Ice Cream machine, typical chocolate or Vanilla or swirl options and it was free with our meal for everyone. So if you are looking for a sit down restaurant option between Dublin and Savannah, you aren't going to find better than this nice little place. read more

Thanks to fellow Yelpers, my bf and I stumbled upon this hidden gem on our way back form Savannah. The buffet did not look too appealing to us, so we decided to order from the menu. Our server lady brought us two lovely rolls, which were consumed rather violently. They were warm, buttery, fluffy, slightly chewy, and intoxicatedly delicious. (What do they put into those rolls??!!) Because we ate them so fast, she offered to bring us more! We ordered grilled shrimp and crab cakes with cheesy grits, fried green tomatoes, fried okras, and baked sweet potato. Our sweet server lady was attentive and made sure we had plenty of refreshing ice tea (unsweetened, of course!). From our table, we had a great view of the nearby lake completed with goose families. Our food came out pretty fast, and it was fantastic! I was a bit shocked by the ratio of butter to baked sweet potato (almost 1:1), but everything tasted great. We were both surprised by the quality and quantity of the crab cakes. They were some of the best crab cakes I had a pleasure of eating. There was barely any filler in the cake. We were hoping for some Georgia peach pie, but we were not so lucky. However, the lady told us to go get whatever the dessert we could find from the buffet table. We found an ice cream machine and some peach cobbler (with unfortunate canned peach). Since we got our dessert for free, I am not going to complain. Very good food! We did not expect food to be that good. Very impressed! They have buffet and it is $14.99 for adult and $4.99 for children and they had tender steak, quail, chicken, low country boil with fresh shrimp (I had lots of those). My husband ordered fried flounder and it was very fresh and tasty. His grits and onion rings were good too. The batter that fish and onion rings deeper into is very light and crispy. They cut their meats themselves from fresh; not frozen / pre-made. There is soft ice cream machine too. Our bill was under $40, which is not bad at all. I had been to Bevrick's at lunch on my way to the beach before and I thought the buffet was good -- not knock your socks off amazing, but good. Today, was a big disappointment. I don't know who is in the kitchen these days, but apparently he/she works for Morton salt. I eat lots of salt every day, but the amount of salt on the butter beans and green beans made them completely inedible. When we went to pay, the cashier asked how everything was. I told him that honestly, the butter beans and green beans were way, way too salty. He showed no surprise, offered no apology, and neither did the female employee standing next to him. I wasn't looking for anything like a refund, it's just that I sincerely thought that there had been a mistake in the kitchen that they should know about. It was $25 for 2 lunch buffets with just water to drink. That would have been fine if the food hadn't been inedible. I won't be back. read more

Excellent highway stop for the family. We have two little girls and those with young kids know food fast is key sometimes. We hit the lunch buffet on Saturday and were seated and eating in 5 min. Food is tasty southern cooking: fried chicken, country fried steak, mac n cheese (particularly good), etc - right down to the peach cobbler. Service was very friendly and helpful. My family and I always stop to eat in Metter when we are traveling back and forth to Tybee Island. This trip we chose to eat at Bevricks. We were so glad we did! Excellent service, clean restaurant and lovely view over the pond while we had dinner. We were there on a Saturday night and we enjoyed a buffet of fried whole quail, steak, fried chicken, low country boil with shrimp, corn and sausage, a variety of vegetables, a nice salad bar and a large variety of desserts. We happened upon this place as we traveled, and were very happy with our lunch. The dining area is quite large, and overlooks a lake. They have a salad/buffet bar which enticed us. Everything was fresh and tasty with a nice selection of veggies, dressings and sides as well as hot foods. My little family stopped on the way home from Savannah for lunch on Sunday afternoon. Although it was quite busy after church, they got us seated quickly. The buffet was wonderful! On our way home from Hilton Head and had a craving for fried chicken and home cooking. Boy, did we find the perfect spot!! They have a large menu but after walking by the buffet...no need for the menu! The fried chicken was delicious, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac'n'cheese, country fried steak, gravy, ribs and much much more....everything we tried was very good. Salad bar and desserts too, including soft serve ice cream. The service was great and very friendly. The price was a total shock! We felt guilty for eating so much for only 7.95 (lunch price). This will be a stop, to and from our trips to HH from now on. Also, there is plenty of room for big rigs. We had our 45' motorcoach with a car trailer on the back and there was room in the main parking (2pm) but also a separate lot for big rigs. read more

We've been traveling the I-16 route between the south Atlanta area and Hilton Head/Savannah for two decades and never noticed this place until last weekend but stopped there as an alternative to fast food. The hostesses and waitstaff were all friendly and attentive. We had some questions about local attractions we had seen recently on Georgia Public Broadcasting and they were very helpful in explaining where to find those things. Our table had a pleasant view of the pond. We opted for the buffet and although everything looked quite fresh, most items were lacking in taste. The fried chicken was dry, mashed potatoes very "whippy", and dark gravy institutional tasting. Macaroni and cheese looked promising but was also dry and could have used a bit of cream or milk and butter. The chicken fried steak and pulled pork were good and we found the green beans and limas quite tasty. The fresh salad items were also quite good as were the cobbler and soft-serve ice cream. All in all, about what we should have expected for $9.95/plate. We will be headed back along the same route next week and if we don't find another place, may stop in again - but if so, we will order from the menu rather than their buffet. read more

If you're in the area and would like to get some traditional southern style food you might want to check out this spot. They have some tasty fried chicken, lovely mashed potatoes and everyone there is super friendly. I personally had an overdose of the buffet scene during my childhood (thanks, Grandma) and because of this have a rather firm aversion to most buffet inclusive spots. This place made me push that aside so I could enjoy some tasty goodness! It is also an independent place and I do love to patronize those when possible! I do find the name kind of cute, too- it's a combo of Beverly and Rick- the owners. Apparently they do some steak and seafood but I was there for some of the down home cooking and did not even bother with that. Sometimes places that feature this style of food lean towards being not super duper clean which is TOTALLY not the case here! Bevricks is really clean and that's always a plus when it comes to restaurants! The strength of this restaurant is it's buffet. The buffet is stocked with a large selection of very well prepared food. The weaknesses are orders from the menu and the wait staff (Some of whom are excellent, others not so much). I ordered an 8 oz. salmon filet that was so over cooked as to be inedible. When I told the waitress about it, she shrugged her shoulders and said "I'm sorry". No offer was made to correct the problem! I was ask at check out if everything was ok and so I told her about my order! Her response was a very unfriendly look and "Well, no one else ever complained about that"!
