On a recent business trip to Georgia, my coworker and I had a mission: fried green tomatoes. Sadly, we had not completed said mission upon our departure from Savannah to Atlanta, at 6am. Driving down I-16, in a moment of divine intervention, we spotted a sign for Bevrick's that mentioned Fried Green Tomatoes. Being the Yelper that I am, I immediately searched for Bevrick's and found 3 reviews: one was brief, but to the point. One was truly Southern. And the last sealed the deal. We HAD to make this happen. But alas, it was 6:30am, certainly not an hour when a dinner buffet would be open. On the off chance that the stars did perfectly align for us in the middle of nowhere Georgia, we decided to call. After the second ring, the sound of an angel answered "Bevrick's". Startled that it was not a recording, the only thing I could think to say was "oh! are you open??" Upon hearing the affirmative, we replied "we will be right there!" "see ya soon, honey" came that sweet angelic voice over the line. We quickly approached the exit for Metter and found our destination. Lisa greeted us warmly and sat us by the window overlooking a picturesque lake. She brought us coffee and water as we perused the menu (no buffet on Sundays). Seeing how Luck had been in our favor, we ventured to ask if it would be possible to order fried green tomatoes (although clearly not a breakfast item). Lisa graciously told us she thought they could do that, and ran off to confirm the answer. She returned shortly to say Yes! And the deed was done. Mission Accomplished. Not only were the fried green tomatoes flaky, juicy, and delicious; but also the breakfast biscuit sandwiches, cheesy grits, and fruit plate were all simply divine. "Is this real life?" we pondered to ourselves. If one were to be passing Metter, Georgia, we would hope that if the food at Bevrick's did not bring one in, the beautiful Southern hospitality that Lisa shows, would. Solid country cooking joint. Torn between the buffet and the menu, I went with variety in the buffet Fried chik en had perfectly rendered fat with skin as paper thin as parchment and super crispy. Pulled pork didn't appear to be smoked, but was super tender and served with an excellent sauce on the side (better than JoMax). Cabbage was super buttery. The highs are really, really high. But the lows just let the rest down. Potatoes appear to be instant. Green beans were way underseasoned. Peach cobbler was weirdly gloppy and ice cream was made with a really cheap mix and so sweet as to be inedible. The club sandwiches and burgers others around me ordered from the menu looked great. Never before have I had a Country Fried Steak that was actually a piece of steak that was breaded and fried. Been here several times and I have never been disappointed. It is a 50 mile drive for me, and I gladly drive 100 miles just to eat here. Superior service with great prices. They also have a buffet that I have yet to try due to the awesome items on the menu. I would give it straight 5 stars for the service we received from Brittany. My husband and I met his dad here on our way home to FL from Eatonton and were pleasantly surprised by the fried oysters. An abundance of steak and humongous loaded baked potatoes. Great place to stop for lunch on the way to Hilton Head from Auburn. We all got the lunch buffet. Food was good and the view of the lake was great. The restrooms were clean and other patrons were very friendly. Our waitress was not as warm or attentive as the other waitresses caring for other tables so minus one star. We were there for the lo country boil and quail buffet. INCREDIBLE! It's like you have a grandma that lives out in the middle of nowhere in Georgia, she can cook like nobody's business and she won't let you leave the table until you are full! The restaurant appears to be an old Western Sizzler, a bit worn, but clean with friendly staff. Unfortunately the seafood bar was bland with just plain awful boiled crawfish and soggy fried fish. None of us tried the steaks or anything off the menu so I cannot comment there. The only redeeming factor was the pleasant location and decent shrimp and grits. $50 for 2 adults and 2 kids for the buffet. read more

Traveling from Atlanta to Savannah, stopped for lunch. Got the appetizer platter plus a meal. We're from Colorado and loved all the fried green tomatoes, mushrooms, onion rings, chicken tenders and homemade potato chips. I had fried shrimp, cheese grits and fried okra. Yummy! We happened on this place randomly on a Thursday morning en route from Savannah to Nashville while looking for a breakfast spot, and we were quite pleasantly surprised. Delicious! Not to mention the service was outstanding! The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had in a restaurant. Although we didn't get the buffet, I know we will be back to try it because everything looked amazing on it. I had the crab cakes which were also delicious. This is truly a hidden gem as other Yelpers have said. We were on our way home from Tybee Island and stopped here. Great service, super friendly, and excellent food! I had the Smoky Mountain chicken with a baked potato and fried green tomatoes on the side. I'm from Wisconsin and haven't had much southern food since my move here in May, but I loved it! The fried green tomatoes were to die for and the chicken was superb! We loved it so much that when my family visited from out of state, we stopped here a second time on our way back from Tybee Island. My family got the buffet, but I once again had to have that Smoky Mountain chicken. Mmmm! My only minor complaint is that some reviews said that every meal has dessert served after it, but we didn't get any dessert. The only dessert was from the buffet if you ordered that. Great place to eat and I would return any day! Super sweet staff and they're willing to let you try something off the buffet even if you didn't order the buffet. read more

Bevricks is the BEST for MANY reasons. #1 My daughter got married on September 20, 2014. We contacted Bevericks 1 week before her wedding because our original caterer backed out and they were able to fit us into their busy schedule. #2 Carol was extremely kind, professional and cooperative. #3 Their pricing was very fair. Carol was able to adjust to our needs (menu, services, etc.). #4 The food was DELICIOUS and plentiful! We ordered salad with 2 dressings, sliced roast beef in gravy, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, whole greanbeans, rolls with butter and iced tea. We had so many compliments on the food. #5 The servers were quiet, polite and did more than they were asked to do--they saw that we could use some help and they stepped in (like refilled our lemonade dispenser and cut the wedding cake for us). They went above and beyond. #6 The Bevricks servers made up a small gift basket of left overs for the bride and groom to take on their honeymoon. It was such a nice thought! All the other left overs were neatly boxed up for us to take home --there was no waste. Dont't hesitate to use Bevricks for any event! They are wonderful people. We didn't want to go to fast food, thank goodness we found this place! The staff were friendly and attentive. The building was warm and inviting, they sat us immediately. We could tell there were a lot of regulars there for breakfast. Our server was friendly and helpful; she let us take our time ordering and made us feel welcome. The owner came by and made sure we were taken care of. The food was excellent, the grits were fantastic, and I'm pretty picky when it comes to grits. The experience was fantastic they asked us to sign the guest book, the owner said the love to see where people are from. We will definitely stop there again next time we go through that way. What a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious. I had the Junkyard Chicken Sandwich. Fantastic! Their homemade potato chips were so good. Not greasy. Their sweet potato fries are also fantastic. My friend got the chicken club and said it was delicious. The staff was great. Can't wait to come again. They have an extensive menu and also a buffet.
