This Filipino restaurant serves up all the classic Filipino dishes that everyone loves. We tried out a variety of items including pork adobo, beef kalderata, lechon, lumpia, pancit, pork bbq sticks, and Paksiw na Pata. Everything was so delicious and flavorful! The *only* complaint I have is that the food on display doesn't have labels. For someone who isn't as familiar with the food, I had to ask what each item was and took note of them, but it definitely would have been more helpful to have some sort of reference. The owner was so sweet, she ran out of pancit (which is what I was really hoping for) and she went out of her way to make some for our table. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that as soon as we walked into the establishment there was a slight smell of the sewer pipes. I know this is a landlord problem, but it wasn't a good first impression for a food vendor. Although my family always teases me that I smell things that they don't smell. So it could have been just a me thing, but I digress lol... We ordered 8 dishes. I wish I knew the names. I know there was a beef and onion dish and a beef stew type dish with root vegetables. Tender and both delicious. There was a pork dish with a coconut based stock which was my favorite. Chicken Adobo, a pork stir fry type dish and lastly a pork stew dish with blood in the sauce. Yes, you heard me right. If you like blood sausage this is right up your alley. Both of the pork dishes (stir fry and blood sauce) were a little too salty for me personally, but tasty otherwise. The lumpia was good and we had a side of rice and pancit. The pancit was just okay for me. The woman who helped us was awesome and very patient with us. Very yummy Philippino food fresh taste and yummy. From the adobe pork to the adobe chicken. Vegetables and everything from the pansit to the rice. The restaurant is clean and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. A good place for family and friends to come together to eat something different in Utah. This place offers meal boxes. You get rice or noodles with one or two sides. We had 2 plates. Chicken inasal with white rice. The outside was flavorful, the inside was just salty and dry. The second plate was rice, veggies, and beef caldereta. Both were salty and not very flavorful. The side order of lumpia was tiny little finger size. 6 or 12 per order. I decided to give this place a try having not eaten Filipino food before. The staff were very kind and let us sample some of the dishes before we made our choices. The food was delicious especially the Adobo dishes. Delicious! There are not many Filipino restaurants in my area, so I was thrilled to get a recommendation from a friend to try BFF Turon. I ordered the Lumpia Shanghai and a Turon. The lumpia was hot, fresh, and tasty! I liked the turon as well, it was big in size, crunchy, and sweet. Service was quick and cordial. Ambiance is bright with the green tablecloths and the big food pictures on the wall. I noticed it was a bit quite inside, maybe the music wasn't working? Even the customers dining in were quiet. I look forward to my next visit when I'm a bit hungrier, the Pancit will be my next dish! read more

What a hidden gem. I grew up eating ethnic food from all cultures and I am always wanting to try new things. When I saw a Filipino food restaurant I had to try it. At first I was like it seems a little bit expensive, but after trying the food it is mostly mean. I got the 3 item plate and I really doubt if I could make it myself for what they charge. The beef with onions has a rich and deep beefy flavor with a nice hint of ginger on the back end that really put it over the top. I recommend going in and telling them what your likes and dislikes are and have them help you choose. It was a wonderful experience. read more

One of the things I like to do, thanks to the Hot Ones series, is get some of those sauces, and when I find out they're from a region I'm not totally familiar with in a cuisine sense, such as the Philippines, try to find a restaurant with food from there. As I mentioned in a different review, we are incredibly fortunate here in the valley to have so many regions so often well-represented via restaurants and if there is an easy way to connect with and possibly embrace other cultures, it is probably via food. That aside, finding a Filipino restaurant involved a lot of unexpected driving on the day I went to go find some, with one place evidently being more ghost kitchen than place one can go to directly and order and I wasn't up to chasing a food truck around. Not opposed to it, either, probably, just not up for it then. So, as I'm wont to do, I hit up Yelp once again and discovered this place. Inside are a number of dishes, sort of a bit reminiscent of perhaps a Panda Express. I did not see any Turon, for which this place is named, but did get some very nice pork skewers and some of what I think were saba bananas in a sort of sticky glaze. Also got a grilled quarter chicken thing and I couldn't go there and not get a Halo Halo, a drink which I heartily commend to anyone, particularly if you're fond of stuff like boba teas. The chicken I thought was ok, nothing too moving one way or the other, the pork skewers were utterly fantastic, just an absolute joy from both a flavor and cooking perspective, and while I'm not so much a banana fan in general, I thought the things I'm still thinking were saba bananas were also pretty good, particularly for being bananas. I also got some rice, which was done to the usual excellent standard of most Asiatic restaurants. That drink, though, a combination of shaved ice and what I think was possibly coconut milk, some sweet red bean, some taro and possibly a few other related items I was less able to readily identify but were equally excellent, was far and away my favorite thing and something I would readily and happily dig into again. It's a bit of shame this restaurant is so far away, as the menu is one that I think would bear a lot of exploring, evidently as the daily dishes rotate and there is not, from what I could see, any sort of fixed anything. There is, if you want to try out ramen or other snacks from the region, a selection of packaged stuff there was well, though I did not partake of any of that. Food was okay, location was easy to find and there's ample parking. We have mixed feelings about our experience. Food selection was limited and presentation was underwhelming. We eat with our eyes first after all. We ordered two 2-item combos which were priced reasonably. Since we were cutting back on carbs we requested no rice for one of the combos but was told we need to have the rice to get the combo price (and soup). Ok so be it. We ended not eating the rice. We selected tortang talong (no meat), monggo (mostly liquid), beef caldereta (very good), and crispy jeprox (perfect). We were given broth (disappointing) from the pork sinigang and it was bland and oily, not sour and savory. The decor was simple but not relaxing to dine in while we were there. A lady had blasted the music on the karaoke (no singing just music) machine and her little puppy next to the karaoke machine looked so stressed out. We started feeling badly for the pup. Stopped here while staying in South Jordan. It was a long day and craving Filipino food. We ordered rice plate combos with beef caldereta and pork siningang. My grandson wanted halo-halo after seeing the photo. I am always trying out lumoia to compare to my homemade version and of course an order of turon. The customer service was very nice. The ambiance of the place is quite big and spacious. A casual setting. They had a variety of options of food to choose from. I had the beef caldereta. It was delicious. The sauce had such a great flavor. I always compare Filipino food to my mom's and this definitely ranks up there. My daughter had the siningang. I tried some to compare. In my house, we like it sour. This wasn't at the sour level my kids and I are used to, but it did have a lot of flavor. My daughter ate most of it. My grandson can be so picky. Picture on the wall of halo-halo did not match the one he had. So, he didn't want it:(. Good thing my daughter wanted it. She ate it and loved it. Lumpia review- shanghai lumpia was homemade not frozen from store and fried. It is a complement to the restaurant if my grandson thinks I made it. I have to say, it doesn't taste like the one I make but it was good. My grandson enjoyed most of it. Turon was okay. I think if we got a fresh one, it would have been better. The caramelized sugar on the outside was what kept it somewhat crispy. I have had better. Alright, let me start the way I often do with a 3 star review... 3 stars means I think the place is pretty good. I drove past this place a while ago and have been meaning to give them a try ever since. Today my wife and I had a day off together and finally made it to BFF Turon. It's got a sort of odd ambiance. The tables have tablecloths and there are large wood chairs with thick padding. But you order at the counter Panda Express style and eat off styrofoam plates and use plastic utensils. Kind of an odd mix, but I'm cool with it. The woman working there was super nice! She was very helpful providing us with several samples so that we could choose something we liked. I was actually starting to get embarrassed as my wife seemed intent to try a sample of everything. Ultimately we decided to have Rice, Noodles, Beef Caldereta, and Pork Adobo. Oh and Lechon Kawali and Lumpia which took some prep and were delivered after we sat down. Let me say my experience with Filipino food is somewhat limited. I was in the Navy and for anyone who doesn't know there are a lot of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans in the U.S. Navy. Some of them work in the galley. Occasionally they would make Filipino dishes and I liked it when they did. Besides that I've worked alongside Filipinos a few times and they would occasionally bring in some Lumpia to share with everyone. Okay, so that out of the way, the food was good. And maybe I'm not being fair because this is comfort food not fancy fine dining fare, but while good it wasn't amazing. The Beef Caldereta tasted pretty much like a standard beef stew. The Pork Adobo had good flavor but still, fairly basic. I really enjoyed the noodles. The Lumpia was good but small and not the best I've ever tried. I ended up not liking the Lechon Kawali much, too hard. So as we're finishing up our meals the woman behind the counter comes over to the TV and changes it to something else, then I see a woman who had come in a few minutes earlier with what I assume from a little eavesdropping was her boyfriend grab a microphone. And suddenly I'm in a Karaoke restaurant! She was going for it! Four letter words and all! So the odd ambiance just got even a little more odd. I got a kick out of it but man it felt out of place. I feel a little bad giving them a 3 star review because the woman was so nice and there are so few Filipino places around, but that's where I'm at and I think it's important to give honest ratings based on my experience. read more

The food here is amazing. We ordered the 2 combo plates to dine in. Ordered the sinigang and dinuguan (idk what's the right spelling) and it was amazing. My bf ordered the dinakdaan mongoo beans with a small side of bihon noodles. Let's just say, the food was good but for the price, about $50 for the 2 plates, plus the side, and a slice of the ube tres leche (which was flavorful) came out to that price. It made me really full. I was craving some Filipino food and this satisfied my craving. They didn't have spoons when we went there, they gave us free Nilaga soup but no spoon. We did order the Halo Halo afterwards and they had spoon for that. I am glad to see that there's more halo halo mix ingredients in the cup. I've ordered a few times before and it didn't have barely any halo halo mix that I felt it was not worth it. So this time I'm glad and happy. The chicken adobo is always yummy! My daughter loves it. My son had the chicken curry, and he thought it was good. They do give a lot of rice which is nice given filipino meals are best with a lot of rice. read more

Great place and always supporting Filipino food!!! Today I had the Sina Gang pork . It's a soup dish, sour and got the lumpia for 12 at $5 not bad and my 1 combo was around $7. The place is very clean and quite to enjoy. The staff is nice and great people! I had a chance to speak with the owners so I can let them know I had a great experience having lunch at this great establishment! This was our 1st of many visits! We will return to try the many dishes! I'm really anxious to try the pork Bar B Que sticks! Due to limited staffing they weren't available on our visit. So we selected to have a one item combo - (8.99) comes with Rice -& Pancit and a choice of one dish - we got the pork adobo and a side order of beef onion dish ($5.49). All of it tasty. The Shanghai lumpia 6 of them for $3.30 were good and we had to get the Turon (3 for $3.30) so tasty! It's easy to find located in a small strip Mall with lots of parking. Just heard this place opened today. Nice new shopping area/strip mall where the old Golden Corral used to be. Lots of pre-made choices that looked similar to Las Vegas and SoCal styles. Service was a bit disorganized on their grand opening day and was expected. Everyone was in a cheery mood and so helpful. Food was freshly made and full of flavor. I moved to Utah from San Francisco California for school. I am Filipino and boy do I love my Filipino food. I was so spoiled with the many Filipino cuisines available in the Bay Area. I knew I had to find Filipino food when I touched down to Utah. I was bummed to see that there were only 2 Filipino cuisines here, but none the less, excited to eat! Upon reading the reviews below, I was amazed with the amount of reviewers that never had Filipino food and were open to try Filipino food. As a Filipino, it truly feels endearing when others open themselves to learn and understand our culture. Learn it in the best way, at that! - through Filipino food. This was an interesting joint. I have a few thoughts on the place. 1. Very nice staff. So fun and helpful. 2. Didn't know it was about to take a left turn to karaoke right after we finished our meal. Interesting surprise. 3. Comfy dining area. The colors are pretty festive although bright on the eyes. 4. One kid liked it, one kid hated it. 5. Chicken adobo was a bit dry. 6. No lemon wedges for my pancit. 7. Lumpia = 8. Clean restaurant, love that. 9. Fried bananas I loved, everyone else was like uhhh. I'm pretty sure it is hard to do Filipino food in the buffet format, unless you turn customers out quickly. Like Goldilocks does. The staff: warm, welcoming and friendly. I was greeted with a smile and they were very kind and patient with me. I advised them that I'd never been before and to just give me whatever they'd recommend. They took the time to ask me some questions about what I like, spice level, etc. I ended up with the 2 choice combo (beef and chicken), half rice, half noodles. The food: eh.... it was okay... there really wasn't anything that I had that was amazing or that I'd recommend. The egg rolls were okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. The chicken was a bit dry. I brought it home to share with my family and they were not very impressed. We don't eat out a lot, so my kids usually see take out food as a treat and devour it immediately. They didn't do that this time and they like a lot of different foods, that most kids don't. Everything was just kinda bland. Again, the staff was friendly and awesome. I've been impressed with this new Filipino joint. It's a bit hard to order since no one speaks English well, and the dishes are not self-explanatory. However, that's how you know it's authentic! If you aren't familiar with ordering in this type of environment, take a risk! So worth it. They happily offer samples too. My FAVORITE dish is the beef stew, with Pancit (the noodles). The Pork sisig and adobo pork are delicious as well. Their egg rolls are unique and delicious (and teeny tiny cute). I haven't tried the famous Turon (plantain egg roll) or any desserts, so I can't speak to those. My first 2 visits were amazing, but my 3rd visit was less than expected. The meat seemed overcooked/dry, so they probably need some time to develop consistency. It's absolutely worth a visit. read more

Although its a long 40 minute drive for a dinner, we were not disappointed! The restaurant has a fresh and clean vibe about it with island decors and colors all around you. The staff is very friendly, helpful and efficient. I liked that they let their guests who were not familiar with their food taste them! We ordered halo halo: a shaved ice dessert with flan,a scoop of mango ice cream, sweetened beans, gelatin cubes ,plantain and milk mixed together.The shaved ice is silky and milky goodness! This is probably will be my favorite place to go, when I feel like having some Filipino food. For the second time, I had their food, I went with my wife and dine in at this place. The first time was a take out and I wasn't there with my wife. When she brought all the goodies at home. I WAS BLOWN AWAY! How the "Tinola Pork" tasted! It felt like my Mom's cooking! It was so good that I finished the dish in less than five minutes! Hahahaha. Over all, my wife ordered 3 entrees (KALDERETA, Tinola Pork and Pancit) and for dessert, we had the Turon. All, tasted delicious and authentic real cooking of Filipino dish. Dinning in, TURO TURO STYLE / choose and point- The place looked very clean and family/kids friendly. They have enough room to accommodate a large group. Parking wise? Pretty convenient as well because is just infront of the restaurant. My only recommendation, when selecting for a dish? They should place an information of the entree because if I was someone who isn't familiar with Filipino dishes...I'd ask and it might hold up the service for others. Oops! In that note, this restaurant style of placing orders is not a typical, sit down and a server will come to you. To clarify, you will have to stand in line (if there is) then, you will basically, choose your own by letting the food server know what you like. This is by far the best Filipino food I have had in the US. I have tried food from California, Vegas, Washington, Chicago, and more but this place nailed it! I really hope they stay in business, filipino food in Utah can be a challenge unless you know it. Everything is great and I like how you have the option to get rice and pansit/noodles. Serving size is shareable. Their lumpia is very tasty and pansit is amazingly good! The food is quality, it's not your typical place where food is mass produce and you just make it just to make it - no, this place serves extremely delicious food. My favorite here is their TURON. they definitely know what they are doing here. And to name this place BFF Turon, yes they can claim it. Pretty straight forward buffet type Filipino food. Had some pancit at a wedding recently and was craving more. My first bite was pretty dried out since it was the portion on the top of the buffet tray. I ordered the chicken too plus a side of rice. If you are craving Filipino food, you'll probably go here.
