Great food and great service. I had a very large pick up order and it was ready when I arrived. I received every single item I ordered. One of the cashiers was very helpful and helped me get all the food out to my car. I love how they cook all the orders right there so you can see your food being cooked. The restaurant is very tiny but they do an awesome job at maintaining the kitchen, it appears, and getting everyone's food out to them in a timely manner. I ordered a half bowl with half chicken and steak with jalapeños, extra veggies, brown rice, and noodles. I loved the teriyaki sauce and the chili sauce on top of my bowl. Excellent food! Ordered the chicken Teriyaki bowl with noodles and was amazed with the amount of food they provide. I removed it from the bowl and it filled an entire dinner plate. Plenty of meat, would like to see a few more vegitables, but that is not a game breaker. I also ordered the vegitable eggrolls which were also great. Pretty straight forward situation here. They have a limited menu, primarily Teriyaki Bowls. You can have chicken, steak, shrimp, tofu, salmon or just veggies, which they call Buddha. If you want to have a "combo" of those items you'll pay a bit more than any of them individually. I got Steak with Fried Rice and included the veggies. It was good, basic Teriyaki Bowl. The "fried rice" is not what you'd get in a Chinese restaurant, it's just a very basic white rice that has been fried, no extra ingredients like egg, ham carrots, peas or any of that, just fried white rice. They do cook the meat to order, so expect a short wait for fresh food. Biggest issue for me is that Umai Japanese is just across the street, their Teriyaki is just as good, and they also have Sushi options. Nothing wrong with picking either one if you just want a little Teriyaki but Tokyo doesn't have the creamy white sauce and Umai does. read more

I noticed there aren't that many Teriyaki bowl shops in UT. I came across Tokyo Teriyaki on instagram and decided to give them a try. Their prices went up (I took a photo of the new menu). Overall though their portions are generous and well worth the price compared to other places in UT I have been to. I like that they don't skimp on the protein because most places will cheap out on that. They made a mistake on one of the bowls I ordered and when I went back in, the manager was really friendly and immediately made the correct order for me while still letting me keep the wrong order. First off, the pot stickers were some of the best. Perfectly cooked with the right amount of crisp on the outside and a fair amount of filling on the inside. Of the two, we preferred the steak as it just had more flavor--fat adds flavor. The brown rice was also very good and better than most restaurants. The chicken was good but some pieces had been cooked a bit too long. Instead of crispy on the outside and tender in the middle they were cooked crispy throughout. The teriyaki sauce was a bit more gravy like than I am used to. Definitely less soy than your typical mall teriyaki. Not bad though. Portions were OK. I didn't find the full sized bowl very filling I suppose. Service was friendly and prompt. One thing I really dislike is the POS system they use. You know the kind with screen that asks for a tip at the time of purchase. I read another yelper describe it correctly, "tip shaming". Tokyo teriyaki is a great place to go they cook things fresh but it doesn't take too long. We have gone in a couple of times and gotten take out and each time we have gone and they have been nice helpful and fast. I had the chicken teriyaki bowl and I also have tried the shrimp teriyaki bowl. I like the chicken teriyaki bowl the best but the shrimp teriyaki was delicious and had a great texture. You can get noodles or rice in your bowl and I have been getting the fried rice I like how it tastes a lot but it is a little greasy. I have not had a chance to taste the noodles yet but next time I go I plan to try them and I will let you know what I think. Veggies are optional but they are really good so don't say no to those. read more
