Pop's Garlic Chicken with brown rice and Mac salad
    Jolene L.

If you're coming here because the Yelp app says there is a check in promo, don't bother. They are not honoring the 50% off your second meal. The manager said they've been trying to get Yelp to remove the check in offer. If you're coming here for the garlic chicken, don't bother either. The batch I received was hard and dry like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. I'm patient, I don't mind waiting for a fresh batch of chicken to fry up, maybe next time. Similar to my 808 Sistah Shantel F.'s review, I'm all about supporting local. Maybe my food experience was a fluke too? I'll have to come back and try something else next time.

Two Meat Plate: White Rice, Polynesian Mac Salad, Kalua Pork, Katsu Chicken and Katsu Sauce.

The Salty Pineapple has great food and a beautiful atmosphere! The service was very friendly, and I loved the music and decorations you can tell they put a lot of care into the space. The Katsu chicken and Katsu sauce were delicious, and the Polynesian mac salad was the best I've had. The rice was flavorful but slightly wet, and the Kalua pork was a bit dry I suggest adding sauce that would help a lot. The mango Otai was super refreshing and worth trying! Portion sizes could be a bit bigger for the price, but the quality and overall experience make it a spot I'll come back to.

Just look at that picture! Need I say more? This food is amazing!!! The pineapple jalapeño chicken is my go to, give it a try!

    Garlic "chicken"

I never knew Hawaiian food could taste this bad. You know the Trader Joe's orange chicken that you bake and then put sauce on and shake? Their garlic chicken is like that. It's not even actual chicken that they cut it's precut chicken that they sauce up. Also, I've never ever had such a dry musubi in my life. This is ridiculous. The rice has been sitting cooking for a while it's getting crunchy. Also, their prices are insaneeee. Paid $40 for a bowl of chicken, musubi and watery "otai".

Great place for delicious Hawaiian food! I showed up to Salty Pineapple a half-hour before closing time and was so nervous they would be out of everything! While they were out of white rice, they did have brown rice plus everything else I wanted. The inside of the restaurant is cute, colorful, clean and tidy. I love the huge menu and Good Vibes Only signage. The staff was quick, kind, and I even got a 50% off my second meal coupon from Yelp that I got to use. Amazing! While I ordered two plates, I will focus my review on my plate which was Kalua pork, garlic chicken, Mac salad and brown rice. It was all good but what really shined was the garlic chicken - packed with flavor, crispy on the outside, and not a common find at other Hawaiian food restaurants. I will happily visit again for a plate with garlic chicken and to try a drink of theirs as well.

We went through the drive through and ordered 5 big plates. They were super fast and went above and beyond to take care of us! Food is fresh! We loved the pops chicken the most!! Serving sizes were on par with other Hawaiian food places! I love that there was guava cakes available even at end of day! Thank you for going above and beyond for us.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally made the trek to Herriman. The restaurant has a hawaiin theme with palm trees and surfboards throughout the restaurant. It reminded me of a tiki bar. The guy that helped me had great suggestions on what to try. I will need to get a teriyaki rice bowl, guava cake and spam musubi next time because they are the most popular menu items. I tried the pineapple otai drink which was too chunky for my liking. I also ordered the skinny hawaiin salad with teriyaki chicken and it was so colorful and bursting with flavor. The fries were also delicious.

Tofu w/ Pineapple jalapeño bbq & island cabbage Garlic sauce on the side
    Caitlin B.

I've been in to eat several times, and I must say the tofu is the BEST I've ever had. Perfectly crispy and crunchy, so satisfying and filling with the fluffy rice and cabbage. My favorite is the garlic sauce ( But I am including a picture of the pineapple jalapeño bbq tofu which is also good just too spicy for me- to show portion sizes and how pretty the presentation is.) I have only been in once where my order was made with the wrong sauce, other than that it has been perfect every time. I wanted to share about a particularly great experience I had this week. I came in for dinner, and didn't realize it was 12 min from closing since I forgot it was daylight savings! I was ready to leave, but the employee there was so nice and insisted on taking my order. There was also someone at the drive through, and a couple that came in at the same time. I realized this employee was by herself when she went to the back and put together everyone's orders herself. I was so grateful for the stellar service despite being understaffed and about to close, and the food was extra delicious that night.

Teriyaki chicken, Mac salad, pineapple, and rice

The food was pretty good. I had hoped the chicken portions would have been a little bigger. I don't typically like Mac salad but I definitely wanted more of it.

    Pineapple a la mode

What a cute restaurant. We love the decor & the outside . We tried the pineapple al a mode . This was delicious ! It's is hot grilled fresh pineapple with coconut ice cream & caramel sauce . It was so big we shared it . The pineapple has a smoky taste . The ice cream is super creamy & fresh . I would definitely recommend this unique dessert. We are excited to come back to try other entrees .

    Food truck

I visited this food truck when it was at the University of Utah. The woman running the truck was so friendly and helpful- she greeted everyone with an "aloha!" and apologized for the wait (there was a huge crowd for an event). I got the sweet garlic chicken entree. The sauce was delicious- but the chicken was pretty hard (overcooked? I'm not sure), and that's why I wouldn't get this again. I liked that it came with a pineapple slice, and the Polynesian macaroni salad was solid.

    Hawaiian BBQ Mix

I'm not one to usually gush over food (or anything), but I might have to make an exception for The Salty Pineapple. After my meal last night, I'm gushing. It was that good! Yes, they have a food truck, which I'm sure is amazing. But my experience was dining in at their restaurant. There was a sign in the door that said they were open for dine in, but the door was locked. We almost left, but then saw another door and thought to try it. Success! It was open. Turns out, due to COVID, they have one door designated as the entrance and one as the exit. Makes sense, but wasn't clear from the outside. We were the only guests in the place, which felt odd, but kind of nice at the same time. The chipper lady at the counter greeted us and answered a few questions while we figured out what we wanted. We learned that there are two options for your meal-in a plate or in a bowl. They both include the same amount of food, but the plate separates them and the bowl stacks them. I like my food bifurcated, so the plate was the perfect choice for me! I got the Hawaiian BBQ mix and my wife got the Pops Sweet Garlic Chicken. It only took a few bites before I knew I was hooked. The flavor was great, the portion sizes very generous and everything was very well done. I was only able to eat half of it, but the other half was quickly scarfed down by my teenage son when I brought it home. The ambience is island-like and the service is attentive and friendly. We look forward to returning again soon.

    To go...

Good option for the area. Even though the drive-through line was long, we were in and out in less than 20 minutes. It was my first time at this place and the employee at the drive-through was very helpful since I was undecided. I tried the Sweet Garlic Chicken, Katsu Chicken, Pineapple Jalapeno BBQ Chicken, Kalua Pig, white rice, musubi and guava cake. My absolutely favorite was the Sweet Garlic Chicken, that sauce was soooo good.On the contrary, I disliked the Kalua pig, it had no flavor and the meat was really dried. Same with the macaroni salad, nothing impressive about it. The white rice, the musubi and the very fluffy/airy guava cake were super good.

There are way better Hawaiian food options nearby. Wanted to try since Guy Fieri featured it. Just wasn't good at all.
