Can't believe that Bi-Mart is one of my fave new shopping experiences! Kinda like a hardware store, but it goes beyond that. Think Target, minus the glitz and fashion, and more quality. Bi-Mart reminds me of the hardware areas of back in the day Fred Meyer, pre-Kroger. There is a real feeling of quality in many of the things they sell. This includes groceries, beauty, huge freezers, clothing, beer, TVs, tools, hunting stuff, various bird feeds, electronics, fishing equipment, appliances, pet items and food... You've got to see one of their Membership Savings Books to get the story. They have a $5 Lifetime Membership. read more

Got a membership just so I could get a pass from the sporting goods section. The sales clerk was very helpful upfront and super nice. I didn't catch her name but young blonde gal super sweet. She even called for someone to head to the sporting goods section to meet me. I was greeted by one of the sales clerk who asked me what pass I was looking for. He had mentioned that he would need to call the manager since he was not specifically trained in the sporting goods section. Another staff member came up to inform him that I needed to come back another day because the manager shouldn't have to go back and forth to help customer if they need something. Which honestly I was not fond of her comment about that. Considering it was my first time in the store and got a membership to get a specific pass. I had mentioned to the male sales member that "it would be a bit inconvenient if I had to come back since I just got the membership for this pass". He apologized about the short staff . Which I can understand yes, but the thing is so many places they at least try to before saying that I'd need to come back. The lady honestly want to shoo me away before even trying. The male sales clerk suggested anyways they call the manager to help. Thankfully the lady ended helping the guy call. So I waited and here comes Dillon the manager. I told him what I was looking for. He said they didn't have it and only the National Forest pass. I was told to ask for a state park pass by a friend. Anyways I was given the wrong info from a friend and I left. I had asked another friend when I was in the parking lot what the pass she had was called and where she got her's. She had mentioned "Northwest Forest Pass" at a sporting a goods place, so I went back in and requested for the pass. A sweet male sales clerk in blue who must have been new assisted me to ask for help. He informed me the sporting goods section was closed, but I told him I was just here about 10 minutes ago. He went to get help and the same lady who wanted to shop me off made the remark "you changed your mind and want the pass now huh?" With an attitude. The thing was the manager did not mention that the pass would cover the recreational parks I was going to. Therefore I did not know it was the same pass I just assumed for only National Forest, also I asked and he agreed that's what it was for. Anyways manager came back and helped me out after I told him that was the pass for recreational parks and day use. I guess because he is a manger they don't technically need to know that what type of passes are used for. Even though he is at least trained to sell the pass. Anyways I was thankful for the help of Dillon the manager who kindly came twice to help regardless of being short staffed. The sales lady could use a refresher of customer service training instead of trying to shop me off before trying. She wanted the easy way out and have me leave. I would have if the manager was not able to fulfill the request either. That is the reason for the 4 stars for her comment and not wanting to assist. Some employees here are seriously disgruntled and rude; the store treats everyone like a thief and makes them surrender backpacks at the door; they unlawfully deny legal adults ammo and firearm purchases. ...... I am writing this review after having multiple bad encounters here, in the last year. I understand that everyone had bad days, but this bi mart provides a consistently unpleasant shopping experience. I have been a life long customer here, and my entire family had been buying ammo, guns, camping equipment, and even clothes and kitchen items here, for over 30 years. However, over the last 2, this store has gone dramatically downhill. Today I asked if there any 9mm ammo available, besides the JHPs that were sitting on the self. I was met with extreme sarcasm, "do you see any?!." I was willing to let it slide, and I just just replied "ok, thanks for being nice about it." Before I could walk away, the clerk aggressively blurted out "I was being nice about it, it's called humor. Most people know where to look, if they want ammo!" That was the straw that broke the camels back. She was trying to make my feel stupid, for asking a very simple and friendly question. Additionally: Despite being a lifelong customer, I have been harassed to surrender my backpack, at the entrance, more than once. I am told this is company policy, however I routinely see women enter with large purses or shopping bags. This is a problem because I walk, and I do so with valuable items in my backpack. If the store is going to deny my shopping bags, without a fee, in accordance with the city law, and I am expected to bring reusable shopping bags, I should be allowed to bring my backpack in. I have been forced to leave the store, because I was not comfortable handing over my backpack, before I even had the chance to shop. Stop treating me like a criminal. I have spent 10s of thousands of dollars here--if I wanted to steal something, I would have done it already, and I don't need a backpack to do it. Also, earlier last year, this store was refusing to sell ammo and guns to 18 year old adults. When I inquired as to why they were discriminating in this way, I was met with extreme cynicism and aggression. This is unacceptable to me. How is bi mart, a store known for fishing gear, hunting gear, ammo, and firearms, going to have that kind of reaction? I wanted to know if this was a store policy, company policy, or something else. No matter what it was, it was certainly and infringement on the right to bare arms. The employee made me extremely uncomfortable, and I felt unwelcome after that. They days of bimart being friendly and helpful are gone. They are no longer kind, and the store no longer had a welcoming small town feel. I get that the area has gone seriously down hill in the last few years, but that is no reason to take it out on me! I also understand that covid is stressful, and everyone had bad days, but like I said, my experiences here have been consistently bad and it is finally time to hold this store accountable. It's the last of a certain kind of store and I hope it sticks around. The cheap membership seems to be just enough of a barrier to keep out most of the homeless dope fiends and weirdos that plague other stores. I am sick of being treated differently in this stupid city. I go to this location all the rime. Today, I was stopped at the door and asked for my card. I didn't have it with me, they looked me up, asked me to confirm a PO box I haven't had i years, then insisted on ID because anyone could say it was me. During this time several old white folks were waved through after barely showing what could be a card through layers of opaque plasitc. They weren't asked their name, to actually show their cards, just waved through. I had to show I D and be treated as completely second-class. As I left, a loud, sarcastic "thanks for coming in." I see you guys. I want my membership fee back. I paid it just like anyone else and SHOULD be treated like any other customer. I'm ammending my review. I don't think I care to go back to this location, but after speaking with management, I don't think my experience is a reflection of Bi-Mart's values. read more

Typical Bi-Mart, they're basically all the same. Same products and same store layout. This location has a good selection of plants, flowers, vegetables and other gardening stuff in the summertime. Most items are a good value, but food items seems to be overpriced here, which was surprising. read more

Bi-Mart is a relic of my youth. I remember being a kid in Eugene (yes, before I made the Seattle move, I did some time in the Eug) and visiting Bi-Mart. It always felt so special to go with my family into a membership-only store that was a wonderland of consumer products at low, low prices. Little did I know that membership only costs $5 here. For life. I mean shit, I moved back to Oregon over 14 years ago and haven't been going to Bi-Mart because I didn't need to be paying for another annual membership. Had I only inquired I would have known that it costs about the same as a gallon of gas to gain access to this confluence of commerce. Bi-Mart is like Wal Mart, but without the evil. This low-rent chain offers the same types of products you'll find at Fred Meyer and Wal-Mart at surprisingly competitive prices... maybe sometimes a dollar or two more. The selection is actually larger and more diverse than FM (including guns and hunting equipment) and when you spend your money here, even maybe a couple dollars more, you feel much better than if you had supported the evil empire of Wal. They stock groceries, clothing, beauty supplies, home decor, hardware, automotive and more in an environment that likely hasn't changed much in the 30 years since I first visited Bi-Mart when I was a kid. I think of this place primarily as a solution for me for outdoor gear, but I'd likely come here in search of tools as well, and it's a good place to hook up on ammo and any licenses you may need. The staff here seem to be as old as the building itself, but nice enough. I've never had a problem getting help when I needed it. It's always kind of nice to see old holdouts soldier on. I finally got my $5 membership so I can shop here again. And although this location is kind of extra ghetto, it has that familiar vibe that I remember from the way back. I can dig it. read more

First off, there are some very thorough reviews about the Woodstock Bi-Mart (the other "Portland" location) on Yelp. I will not repost everything said, but basically Bi-Mart can be thought of as a small town variety store. I don't even really need to add my two cents, but wanted to anyway. I always say to my friends "I don't think Bi-Mart is going to be in business in 10-20 years." :-/ I do like shopping here and try to buy household basics when I can as the store is headquartered in Eugene and employee owned. They also carry products from regional producers - for example, you can buy toilet paper and paper towels manufactured in Lewiston, Idaho, rather than somewhere else in the country or world. Prices at the store are very fair if you can deal with the hours, clientele and the curious product mixture. I tend to pick up great deals on local Oregon/Washington microbrewed beers at Bi-Mart. They also can take bottle returns and count by hand if you're like me and hate the machines most grocers use. If you need a perfect idea of what a store is laid out like and what they carry (they are ALL the same), go to the Bi-Mart website and visit the "departments" link under store information. They are my go to for inexpensive automotive and camping supplies. If you ever want cash back when paying with debit, you can get it but they cap it at $10, like a 7-Eleven (WTF?). read more

Cliff Notes: +for proximity to my house. This probably shouldn't earn them a point because they had no input re: the neighborhood in which I purchased my home. +for their selection of hippie, organic, overpriced ish that I-oh-so-love to buy. -3 for their abysmal customer service. Decent-ish prices on household and personal care items like laundry soap and shampoo. Since this location is conveniently located 3 mins by car from my home (and is faster to get in and out of than most big box stores) I'll usually suck it up and purchase home and gardening crap and crafting supplies for a few dollars more than they'd cost at Home Depot or Michael's. *Before anyone chimes in obnoxiously: Yes, I know Winco is pretty much in the same parking lot and lower priced* however, BiMart has a far better selection of organic, plant based personal and home care items (shampoo, laundry and dish soaps, etc.). If it wasn't for that one fact, I'd have only given the place the one star that they don't technically deserve. In two years of shopping there I've only interacted with three pleasant employees: the store manager, a woman last summer in the outdoor garden area (she really liked lettuce plants) and a younger gentleman who updated the name on my fishing license a few month ago. Everyone else working there seems to hate life, like ALL of the time. I've shopped early morning, midday, evening and during both the weekend and weekdays. Same story- just different days and times: pissy attitudes, no eye contact, sighing when I wholeheartedly tell the associates to have a "nice day." My normal philosophy isn't to kill folks with kindness per se because I find false sweetness or cheerfulness annoying as all hell. Instead I just honestly *try* to treat ALL people how humans deserve to be treated i.e. with kindness, gratitude for their service and a basic level of human respect. BUT doing that seems to make the associates even more hostile. I'd say "ain't nobody got time for that" but as I mentioned before it is my desire to save time that keeps me dragging myself back in there. read more

So I just moved to Oregon yesterday and had to do some shopping for household appliances ect.. I went into BiMart an establishment I have never been to that is down the street less than a mile from my new home. The store is unusually positioned so the exit sign (no where near the entrance) is positioned towards the street entrance. I drove up, parked, grabbed my wallet and walked in. I didn't see that it was an exit and just walked in to start shopping. An extremely rude Asian man came up and demanded I showed him my card and reprimanded me for coming in the exit. "Why would you come in thru the exit, show me your card" he was so rude!!! I asked him what card and he says "this is a membership only store that you just walked thru the exit to get into" as if I was trying to sneak in or something. Well fuck that noise, I will not be getting a membership, I will not be shopping there. Good riddens. He could have came up to me, asked me nicely if I had ever been there and explained the membership to me. I would have automatically signed up for a membership and just continued shopping. I don't usually write reviews for stores, but I have to give a shout-out to the Bi-Mart store on NE Halsey because I had such a great experience there today. Because it's "Black Friday" today, there were lots of things on sale. I bought a bunch of small items: some candy, some snack food, a magazine, etc. . .and everything was on sale. When I got to the counter to check out, everything rang up on the cash register at an even lower price than what I thought. Lucky! Also, I didn't have the right coupon for one of my items, but it was no sweat because the cashier had the right coupon at the counter so she scanned it so I could get the sale price. Finally, one of the items which was marked on sale on the shelf rang up at regular price instead. I told the cashier that a sign on the shelf said it was on sale. The cashier took the time to walk out to the shelf where the item was and saw that the sign with the sale price was actually outdated. The sale price had already ended a couple of days ago, but the sign was accidentally not removed. Again, it was no sweat because she gave me the sale price anyway. OK, everything worked out great today at Bi-Mart! read more
