3.5 stars for Bialy's Bagels. Now, I've had the Bialy's Bagels that are supplied to West Side Market, and they're pretty good. One day, being on the east side and needing breakfast, I told my other half- hey, let's go get some of that Bialy's bagels. I've been craving a NYC bagel for such a long time. The soft chewy warm bread that your teeth just sicks in, as you chew away..... oh I really miss it. I've driven past the plaza that Bialy's Bagels sits in so many times- yet I'm not sure why I've never stopped there. They really do have a lot of different type of bagels- mind you, there's no chairs to sit down in- just pay cash for your bagels and get-out. We got the everything "stick" and everything bagel (there was a different term for "everything" but I forget). I was a tad disappointed I couldn't just get a side of cream cheese- I don't have a refrigerator for a tub of cream cheese in my car! Nonetheless, if you want cream cheese- they have it- just don't expect different flavors of gourmet cream cheese to choose from. He took a bite out of his "stick" bagel- and it was pretty dry and cold. I took a bite out of my everything bagel- and it was pretty soft/nice/chewy- but cold. Do they warm up their bagels for you? I don't know- I guess I had just assumed it was going to come out warm- and it definitely did not. Anyways, I do think Bialy's is a good quality bagel. The bagels are pretty solid and they have some good flavors- but was it the bagel I was looking for? No no....but it was a good substitute for the time being. read more

Place is a disgrace to real bagel stores. Take it from someone who grew up in NYC Jersey area they only serve cold hard bagels with NO sand which options. I've visited this eatery over the years and seen its transformation . Aesthetically its much improved. The items are very tasty with nice variety. Customer service is good. The only complaint I have is the lack of control of the "FLIES" that land on the bagels. That's concerning given where flies usually hang out. Plus the maggots they produce. I mentioned it several times to the personnel. Even mentioned to cover up the bagels on top of the counter. But I've recently went there and the issue has not been resolved. Not a good look. I recommend get you bagels from the glass casing. I haven't seen flies in there , they might be pre-occupied with the free for all bagels on top of the counter. read more

Not quite sure why this places has such high praise? Have other people not been up the road to other bagel place in South Euclid? I live right around the corner from this place and I would rather drive up the road or down Chagrin to Breuggers. I am not basing this off of one try of their bagels. My father buys them a lot since he walks down and every time I am disappointed. The bagels are usually over cooked and remind me of Einstein's bagels (sorry not a fan of Einstein's either). I was skeptical. But these are honest to God, great bagels! Its a bit of a hole in the wall, and I'm no snob. But I will go out on a limb and say that these are the best bagels I've ever had. I needed to grab something quick to eat before going to work, and; why not grab a nice bagel? That's better than some options, right? I'd noticed Bialy's Bagels a number of times so it seemed like a no brainer- I want a bagel, they make bagels BOOM! It's a match, right? No. Here's the run down of what happened: ***I go inside, at like 11:30 and am greeted (and warned not to slip because they're mopping in the middle of the day...whatever- they may have a morning rush) I'm checking out the scene, weighing my options in the bagel world as well as the beverage world. They've got refrigerators in three areas of the store so you end up bouncing back and forth while looking at what drinks are available. Then I place my order. ***A regular customer has come in with a couple of kids while I made up my mind about the drink and placed the order. At that point I was either the only adult who was not from New York/ had not lived in New York and become completely obsessed with it. If I had it seems that I would have known that Bialys was a classic style, traditional deli. Which also does not take plastic so make sure you've got your cash. Also be ready to cut your own bagel with a plastic knife and spread your mini tub of cream cheese on it yourself a la NY????? Whatevs. Just call yourself "We LOVE NY and We Love NY Bagels and We Make NY Style Bagels and We Don't Take Plastic" On the real- the whole attitude put me off hard core. I grew up in a city WAY bigger than Cleveland, but; I think Cleveland has a ton of great stuff to offer. I've also spent time at "classic" or "traditional" deli's which Bialys is totally not. That sort of place offers up more than just a bagel and a can of soda. Bialys is no Katz Deli, right? Katz is a totally classic NY Deli, FYI. I didn't go in expecting that. I went in expecting a bagel, and; frankly since I was buying one bagel I expected that it might get a halfway done cut. And- I'm gonna put it out there- the bagel was fresh for sure but I've had better from some excellent spots in NY, RI and some NY transplants in ATL. I think the batch wasn't quite done. And for goodness sake- I know how bagels are made so I do know the process and how to tell when they've been over, under and perfectly cooked. Be yourself Bialy's. Don't be a teenager dying to get out of their hometown to go to the big city. I say that with much sensitivity to regional food as many people make fried chicken, biscuits, fried green tomatoes and other southern food poorly. If you want to do it up or have a niche you gotta work a little harder. And you gotta take plastic. If I can use a card at a street vender or to buy something from someone at a summer festival I need to be able to at least use it (at least for $5 and up) at your NY bagel establishment. read more

I wanna thank the little man behind the counter this morning who took my bagel fresh off the line and right into the bag, I wanna thank the sidewalks for keeping me off the streets..and I wanna thank baby Jesus for the invention of bagels. With that being said I am IN LOVE with this little bagel place. Literally little, no tables strictly takeout. They have drinks but it's ALL about the bagels. Egg, everything( or mishmosh) as they call it, salt...all you can ask for in a bagel. It's been hard for me to find an authentic NY bagel in the land but I have stumbled upon it alas!!! My ONLY gripe is that they don't have cream cheese selections nor do they have lox. It was packed I was there at 7:15 on a Saturday and the line was out the door, that's how I love to see it done!! I stopped by Bialy's this morning to grab a bagel before class. I'm such a sucker for sweets, so I went with the cinnamon cranberry bagel. Yum! It was the perfect texture - perfect shell on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Even though they offer the traditional cinnamon raisin bagels, I really loved the tartness and sweetness of the cranberries. My dog devoured the bite that his big puppy dog eyes managed to get from me. ;) Next time I'll be sure to buy more than just one! read more

Bialy's Bagels has been said to be the best in Cleveland, or the best outside NYC. I am going to one up that and say that the bagels themselves are better than any in NYC. Of course you can't get a shmere, or any deli stock (well, there is that cooler full of pop, oj, and Philadelphia Cream Cheese near the door) but the bagels are that good. PERFECT. In the summer the door to the parking lot is left open all night. Stop by at 4a.m. or 5a.m. and your in for a hot treat. Pretzel, Mishmash, egg. They are all good. read more

Bialys saved our lives - literally! Ok, not literally, but it really felt like it! We moved from Philly to cleveland 5 years ago and struggled very much with the breads selection. The following exchange took place at this so-called "bagel" store at 11:50am on a Saturday: Me, "Can I get a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and a large coffee?" Them, "We don't toast. We're out of coffee." Ummm...ok. The girl then proceeded to give me a packet of Philadelphia cream cheese from a refrigerator. They don't have their own cream cheese in the store, just Philly packets. Ummm...ok. Lastly, I asked for a knife to slice my bagel and spread my cream cheese and was told they don't have knives. Seven days a week, if you arrive at 4:30 AM, you will be greeted by friendly people and the smell of freshly made bagels and assorted other goodies make from the bagel dough.It was worth the 28 mile drive, from Chagrin Falls to Cleveland Heights, to pick up these freshly-made bagels to serve to a guest who will be coming for breakfast. Excellent Cleveland bagels made with delicious/famous cleveland tap water mmmmm! I grew up (pun intended) eating these bagels and so did my mom and her siblings. Someone always has some Bialys in the freezer. Mish mash is the best but also love the onion ones. FYI its a bagel shop, they make bagels thats it! They stick to what they know & theyre good at it, props to them for not overexerting themselves and selling other unnecessary crap. Buy cream cheese, butter, coffee, and OJ at the nearby target or with your weekly groceries, dont roll up to the bagel shop expecting a feast. Get ur bagels and go enjoy them with friends/family. On a dozen separate occasions Ive brought them on a plane to share with friends down south and they love them! I've been eating Bialys bagels for 30 years+? Anyway, for a long, long time, and today was another trip down the bagel lane of deliciousness. Their mish mosh everything bagels are so good, that when the bag is empty I carefully pour the left over seeds at the bottom into a bowl and use them on my toast. Sure, it's not typical behavior, but their choice of seasonings and quality can't be beat. I take them on road trips and eat them while I drive. Cream cheese doesn't hurt either read more

I'm not a very religous person, but I know there's a god. How? Because I've seen his work, at Bialy's Bagels on the corner of Silsby and Warnsville in University Hts. They arn't the best bagels outside of NYC, they're the best bagels ANYWHERE. MishMosh = Everything. They are closed on Jewish holidays. They don't make sandwiches. All bagels are $0.95. YUM! This tiny place serves amazing fresh bagels. It is a simple operation, all they make is bagels and bialys and they do it well. If you need some cream cheese you can buy it here, but this is not a place like Einstein's, where they can toast it and but eggs and bacon on it, get a latte, and all that jazz. This place is OK, no frills, the bagels are good when fresh out the oven. It also needs to be noted that this bakery supplies many of the local coffee shops with bagels, and they allow the public to buy from their small store front. Many people do not know this small detail, and expect a plush cafe, not realizing that Bialy's supplies the plush cafe's in the area. With that being said I personally only like hot soft bagels and asked the lady behind the counter for a hot soft one, and she said, "They are bagels, what do you expect?"
