I bought a Groupon when they first opened for a package of three eyebrow threadings. It was close to my work so I decided I would try them out. I liked that they usually had same day appointments considering at the time there was only one technician for threading. That being said, I'm taking off a couple stars since the technician made me feel awkward every time that I came. I understand making small talk but she would tell me how she remembers me coming to her but every single time, she would ask me my ethnicity. This is a normal question but when I would tell her I am not Korean like she thought I was, she would argue with me that I'm Korean. She did a good job with my eyebrows but the conversation just wasn't good customer service in my opinion. Groupon or not, I'll just continue going to my usual salon. read more

This is my second time coming to Bibi and I love it! Jimena is so sweet and does a great job. She really takes the time to make recommendations and explain what will look good and why. Even better - she is honest and will tell you if a certain hairstyle will look good or bad. I usually can never decide how short I want my hair and she doesn't rush me. Worst eyebrows experience, EVER. 1 star is for the excellent customer service at the front desk. NEVER get your eyebrows done from the lady from Nepal unless you want your life turned upside down. Your eyebrows should be like sisters but if you want distant cousins, she's the one for you. First, she asked if I wanted mine thick and I said yes. I should've known she destroyed them by the extensive time she took to work on them. Not only did she THIN my eyebrows out, she gave me two totally different shapes. I have a wedding this weekend and my eyebrows were like two wild caterpillars. With two small children to take care of, I don't have a lot of time to spend at a salon ,so I needed a place that would be fast and convenient. I called and was told that the tech could see me right away. I got to Bibi in a matter of minutes and was seen immediately. 5 minutes later, Sumi was all done and my eyebrows were perfection. This is definitely a stellar place to get your eyebrows done. I came after purchasing a Groupon of 3 threadings for about $17 (a steal!). The salon is super lenient about same-day visits. Just make sure to call ahead and confirm that the eyebrow lady is there (she leaves early sometimes). Once you walk in, the staff is super receptive and gets you checked in immediately. I haven't had to wait long on any of my visits. The eyebrow lady does a great job of asking you what you want before she starts and is very gentle. I love my stylist and have been coming here for almost a decade, through several changes in owners, but have to say that the staffing could use some tweaking. One of the best parts of a salon experience here was the experienced and consistent shampoo staff who almost put me to sleep ( in a good way) with the head massage that was standard with a shampoo. In the past few years, staff in has changed, the veterans have disappeared, and the staff who shampoo, also do threading. That means that customers have to wait for a shampoo until the threading is done, which means the stylists have to wait for their customers, and no ones very happy about it. Yesterday there were three people waiting, and my stylist just washed my hair herself. Yet there are two people at the front desk chatting away....hmm. Reallocate the resources, dedicate a threader and a shampoo person, and get back on track....just a suggestion. read more

So I've been twice to see a certain stylist (whose name I'm going to withhold) who did an okay job with my hair the first time - she didn't realize how curly it was at first. Second time, she refused to blowout my hair, and justified this with a ten dollar discount (as if this should mollify me satisfactorily). But perhaps I misunderstand something, because she must be very good. We discussed the decade or so she spent doing hair at a high end department store. Talked at length about her daughter whose picture was displayed. Like I once did, she works in IT, and even married a nice boy who also works in IT. Yay for them. So. I don't know. I know my hair is difficult to blow out. It's thick and curly. She's Asian. I'm Asian. I'm also Latina. The girl at the front is Latina too. Surely they're familiar with different textures of hair. Threading Review: I came here because of a Groupon. Regular price is $8 for eyebrows which is a great price. The threader has her own station and is gentle ( her technique doesn't feel like your life is being ripped from your eyebrows). She can follow previous work/line and does a good clean up, as for free handed shaping the verdict is still out and Im still on the fence. She only shows you the finished results ( both eyebrows) when she is done. So if you are used to seeing one eyebrow to confirm you are not being jacked up....ask for the mirror. Don't make appointments online - when you show up at your 'confirmed' time you wont have an appointment ( they will still serve you though) and try not to book the first appointment as the threader relies on public transportation and we all know how that can be in the DMV. Went to Bibi Salon and Spa after I had purchased a Groupon deal for eye brow threading and oh boy, it was a pleasant experience. I didn't have to schedule an appointment in advance and when I walked in, the wait wasn't too bad even though someone else was there in line before me. Everyone's super professional, and I am not sure about the other services but the threading service was definitely outstanding. Beautiful salon with the most talented stylist Jimena. I made an appointment for haircut and full highlights with Jimena. I was a little hesitant to get highlights since I was getting them after such a long time. The stylist and I spent few minutes discussing what I wanted. I showed Jimena a picture as my inspiration and she recommended the color and heavy full highlights. Id also expressed concern that I didn't want bleach in my hair since have fragile hair. She was somehow able to achieve the lighter color I wanted with no bleach, and I was so happy with the results! She also gave me a nice layered haircut. I've been going to Bibi Salon for about 2 years after randomly meeting one of the hair stylists at a bakery. I can't speak about the other stylists, but Jimena has been amazing. She's wonderfully friendly, always in a peppy mood. She gives the full scalp massage routine every time she washes my hair -- I'd pay for those even without the haircut. I had gone to Bibi Salon a week before my engagement pictures by chance to get a haircut. After asking about what other services they offered Jimena, my stylist, also told me that she did hair and makeup. I liked the work she had done on my hair that day, so decided I would book hair and makeup with her as well. On the day of my engagement pictures I was running about 20 minutes late (the nails took forever!), but called them to let them know. They put my mind at ease letting me know that they would get me done on time. I arrived and first had a full blow out of my hair. Jimena was able to style my hair very easily and we moved on to the makeup. She had me sit in a private room and did my makeup diligently, stopping to make sure I liked what was going on. My mom got a coupon for this salon in the mail so I decided to try it. The receptionist over the phone was very sweet when I made my appointment for a haircut. I go in and the receptionist tells me to take a seat. My stylist comes up and asks, "who's getting the haircut today?" Not professional at all in my opinion. She didn't even say hi or smile. She escorted me back to the shampoo area and told me someone will be right with me to wash my hair. I then find my stylist at her station and we do a short consultation. I told her I want a trim and my bangs cut shorter. She then asks if it's okay to cut off two inches and I said yes. She said, "wow you haven't gotten a haircut in a while have you?" I did not appreciate that. The whole reason to come get a haircut is because you know you need one. She became warmer with me but I noticed she was cutting A LOT. Well she definitely took off more than too inches. She styled it nicely but for sure cut way more than I wanted. Went to Bibi Salon and got an express facial. From the outside you would think the salon was small and antiquated, but it was the complete opposite. The salon was very spacious, clean, and modern. After checking in I was taken to the spa section of the salon, where I was able to relax on a comfortable recliner chair and hydrate to cold cucumber water. A few minutes went by before Vivian, my facilist, called me in and explained the steps and procedures of the facial. To say the least the steam, various applications of lotions, facial, neck, and arm massages made this experience well worth the 30 minutes. I've been in NoVA for about a year now and I've finally found the salon I plan to call home. I have tried out a few others in the area but they have either been over priced for the results I have gotten, taken me weeks upon weeks to get an appointment, or I just did not feel comfortable speaking to the hair dresser about exactly what I wanted. I found Bibi here on Yelp and gave them a call to get a few round about prices for color and a cut and the receptionist was very sweet trying to give me a distinct answer but was up front saying that it all depended on the length of my hair and the exact way I wanted it colored (Highlights, Ombre, or Balayage). I was able to get an appointment within the week and when I arrived I was greeted with smiles and a very clean and attractive salon. Jimena was recommended to me due to wanting to do either an Ombre or Balayage color and I am so happy she was! She did a complete walk over letting me know her thoughts and from there I felt comfortable and was able to tell her the parts I agreed on and exactly what I was looking for. Jimena dyed, cut, and styled my hair all while being super friendly and genuinely looking to get to know me. About two hours later (due to the dye having to sit for some time) I was walking out feeling fully satisfied and loving my new hair! I came in with the intention of getting my eyebrows threaded and everyone provided me with amazing customer service most importantly she left my eyebrows perfect even after I told the lady not to trim certain areas because I am trying to slowly thicken my eyebrows with out growing them full on. They do a great jobs treading my eyebrows and upper lip, the lady who does it is very gentle and it doesn't hurt as much as other places. I paid $8 for my eyebrows and $6 for my upper lip. They have a big parking lot outside and the salons looks clean and well organized. However, I wish they acknowledged their costumers when they walked in. I was standing there waiting politely for the receptionist to make eye contact with me to say "good morning and let her know about my request" but she pretended that she had no idea I was there even though is very obvious when you open the door right next to the front desk in a empty salon. So, after a few minutes of standing there not knowing what to do, I had to get closer to her and pretty much place my body in from of her to be acknowledged. I also got a gloss added to make my hair super shiny and healthy looking. She did an amazing job and did exactly what I asked! I went for a simple haircut with some subtle long layers. Jimena did exactly that and I loved the blow out. She was very friendly and listened to my requests with patience. Subhi, who did my eyebrows knew exactly what to do and did an eyebrow shape that looked great on me (I had no idea what would look good on me). She was nice, gentle, and friendly! Love this place! I can finally say I have found my stylist! Jimena is a gem of a person. She is professional, highly skilled and friendly, a winning combination that has me going back! I first went about a year ago for a haircut. She listened to what I wanted, we reviewed some photos together and she gave me the same exact style I showed her! Awesome! I then returned last month for a cut and color. I asked her the impossible: to go from dark brown to blonde-- all in a day! lol Yea. She didn't make fun of me, nor did she try to school me, but she gently informed me of the process of hair coloring and explained how hair will get damaged if it is so severely treated in a day. She did take into consideration that I did NOT want orange hair at any point in the process and she did incredible work, not an orange strand in sight! My hair color is lovely, even though it is not where I want it, but I trust her and her expertise and can't wait to go back to get it dyed again! She also gave me a great hair cut and style! Have been for eyebrow threading 3x. There have been 2 different techs and they have both been great. The salon staff is friendly, I have never had to wait, and prices are reasonable. I recently purchased a Groupon for threading and they allow you to add other services without changing the Groupon price. My only concern is that I need to be very specific with the techs about what I would like done. I cannot have certain areas of my face threaded or I break out in a rash, and I have had to tell the techs not to thread the areas when it seemed clear to me I wasn't asking for that service. read more
