i looooooove this place so much. it's like a korean chipotle. my go-to is the spicy chicken bowl w/ sweet potato noodles (like japchae) or purple rice, broccoli, bean sprouts, corn (2 scoops), cabbage, kimchi, kale, carrots, and gochujang. all the workers i've encountered are friendly, no attitude. and the portions are huge. it's hard for me to eat the whole thing in one sitting. my only negative comment is that the sweet potato noodles are a hit or miss. sometimes it's flavorful and other times bland. that's why i've been just sticking with the purple rice lately. overall, great place and i definitely recommend! read more

Update: visited the place again today, the portion was an improvement from my first visit, so I am giving them back a star. They can still do better than that but no longer feeling this is a ripoff especially with the free soup. The meat portions you get here are comically small which sucks if your here for the meat and the meat only. I've been to one of their MD locations and was happily surprised to find a location in Chicago. I always have done delivery since it seems to be in the middle of the loop/hard to find parking. It's a great healthy alternative for take out. I love the sweet potato noodles and their teriyaki and sesame/ginger sauces the best. The portion sizes are generous and it tastes even better as leftovers. I recommend ordering extra sauce. My only complaint is that there are not more locations in the city. read more

visiting chicago this weekend and every restaurant seemed to have such a long line so we ended up getting takeout at bibibop. marketed as a "chipotle style bibimbop" there's a large variety of ingredients--japchae noodles, vegetables, egg, sesame kale, and a lot of sauces like sesame ginger, yum yum, and gochujang. i ordered 3 bowls online and they were ready for pickup in less than 10 minutes! also, online there's a buy one get one free deal which was awesome. i was shocked by the portion--these are huge!! also, the fact that you get to choose 10 toppings and 2 sides is pretty rare since a lot of places up charge. i also appreciate how everything is gluten free and high quality. my only complaint is that since there's so many ingredients, i felt like i did not have enough sauce and parts of my bowl tasted kind of bland. also i wish it came in a bowl instead because the takeout container was kind of messy. but overall, a really affordable dinner and i am so full! read more

I AM A FAN! I love the concept that it's basically an Asian/Korean style chipotle. They have the ingredients starting with rice/noodles, etc, then you choose your meat, then veggies, then sauces. So flavorful! I am not downtown frequently but I stumbled across this spot and decided to give it a shot and have been back a few times already because I was just craving it. On my first visit, I asked how it all worked and the team member gladly explained and also gave recommendations which was highly appreciated. I tried a bike with white rice, a mixture of the regular and spicy chicken (both were delicious but I didn't favor one over the other due to the sauce covering some of the flavor), then I added cukes, cabbage, carrots, corn, and then a mixture of the teriyaki and ginger sauces. No Customer Service We order here quite often as our kids absolutely love Bibibop. For our daughters 12-year old birthday we ordered a meal for the family birthday dinner. We ordered through the Bibibop app in good time as Fridays can be busy. A few minutes before delivery time the app suddenly notified that the order had been cancelled and directed us to call the restaurant. We did. They confirmed the order had been cancelled because they had accidentally given our order to someone else. They suggested we reorder with a 60-90 minute wait time. My wife told the restaurant that it was for our daughters birthday dinner and the cancellation was through no fault of ours, as we had ordered through the app with delivery. The restaurant was not interested in helping out and offered a standard refund or to put us in the back of the line for a new order. We ended up re-ordering, as it was our daughters birthday wish, but will not buying from Bibibop again. read more

Bibibop offers amazing Korean-style build-your-bowl restaurant in Chicago! I ordered the purple rice, beans, bugolgi marinated steak (so slightly on the sweeter side), and added a ton of various toppings (at no extra cost) -- kale, lettuce, corn, daikon radish, corn, cabbage, potatoes, kimchi, and julienned eggs. I didn't think cheese would go well with my bowl so I opted out. I chose the traditional Korean hot sauce (gochujang) to be drizzled on top. There is a counter area that provides complimentary self-serve miso soup after you pay and additional different types of self-serve sauces for you to try with your bowl of choice. The ingredients were super fresh and very flavorful and went well together. The miso soup was great as well; it was served at 160 degrees F (very hot) and it had tofu and seaweed in it. The portions were quite generous and I could only fish about a half of the bowl. All for $8.30 after tax! My friend ordered a tofu bowl -- the tofu was so tasty too. The service was so kind and they told me that I could order half and half of two meat choices too. I will definitely return to try other bowl combinations for dinner or early/late lunch as the line gets really long. read more

"Bibibop" was a great find in the downtown Loop area. My friend wanted to go to Chi*otle for dinner, but I yelped and persuaded him to try this new place with me. Guess what? Both of us liked it a lot. As a matter of fact, how "Bibibop" works is similar to that big "C" burrito chain. You pick a base (noodle, rice, purple rice, or mixed greens), carbohydrate (black beans, potatos, and bean sprouts...or all of the above if you want), protein (chicken, spicy chicken, beef, or tofu), and healthy sides that you see through the glass case. Finally, your bowl is finished with whatever sauce you desire. A bowl full of the tasty goodness doesn't really break the bank: $7 to $8. A refillable drink costs extra $2 (lemonade or sugar-less chamomile tea). Free miso soup at the condiment station is available for those who are still hungry. Honestly, the portion of what I ordered was large enough, but I did sample a tiny cup of miso soup. It was quite decent, with some tofu and scallions in it. The only sauce I ever tried was the spicy sariracha. It wasn't that spicy, yet it added a little zest to it. All of their sides were cooked and flavored well. However, the sauce helped "change up" the taste of them. If you like "Bibibop" and will totally go back like myself, there is a survey on the back of receipt. It's super short and sweet. We came here within a week of the grand opening and were pleasantly greeted with fun, orange and white balloons placed throughout the restaurant. I wanted to bring one of the balloon centerpieces home with me but couldn't for obvious reasons. I'm sure it gets pretty busy around lunch time, but there were barely any customers on a Thursday evening after 7:00pm. I'm surprised at how late it's open since it's located in the loop! Upon entering, we're greeted with a loud "Welcome to Bibibop!!!" Service was top-notch throughout the entire time that we dined there. The prices were almost comparable to Chipotle (maybe just a tad bit higher). The concept is similar to Chipotle, where you pick a base and add toppings along the way. One of the best parts is FREE miso soup! The miso soup was great, not too salty. As much as I wanted to drink the whole pot container of miso soup, I only had one bowl so that I didn't go overboard with sodium. I ordered the Organic Tofu bowl and added as many toppings as I could, including lettuce, purple rice, daikon radish, corn, cabbage, potatoes, kimchi, black beans, and the Korean red, spicy sauce (gochujang). I've tried the other sauces, and they didn't go with the bowl as well as the one I ordered. The portion was massive, where I was able to make it into two meals. So happy to find this place. Had it on my list to try for lunch. love the flexibility and the array of options. No line when I went. Around 7 people eating there. They move your order along quickly and it's simple to follow. I picked - noodles, spicy chicken, all toppings except cheese. Chicken was flavorful but a bit too dry. The noodles are round, rice based I think. A colorful array of toppings and lots of choices for sauces. You can also just not get sauce or apply more at their sauce dispensers. I choose yum yum and Korean red sauces to go on then packed a cucumber wasabi to go. I tried a little of each veggie before mixing - all very fresh. Some of them are seasoned, some are plain - each respectively well chosen. Mixing everything together made it hard to taste anything but the sauces but the different textures was nice. I ordered to go and heated it up in a microwave. It helped make the noodles softer. Self service free, warm miso soup!! What I mean by that is, the Grill has taken one of Korea's most popular traditional dishes, Bibimbap, and they've simplified the ingredients to make the traditional dish available within, literally, minutes. And they've done a good job at it, making the dish flavorful. The first time I went to Bibibop Asian Grill, I tried their bibibop without any added sauces and it was delicious as-is. I loved the kale/seaweed mixture. And since I am doing no carbs these days, I opted for lettuce rather than rice or noodles. An example of how they've simplified some of the ingredients--they serve shredded cooked eggs rather than the traditional bibimbap which is served with a raw egg a top of piping-hot ingredients that you stir in a cast iron pot. If you are looking for a healthy meal and you are in the area, I suggest to pop in and give it a try. It's a small but spacious place and your meal will be ready within minutes.
