I was a little hesitant to try this place after reading some recent reviews, but it's my cousin's go-to spot for Thai food, and I'm glad we gave it a chance. We started with the curry puffs, which were delicious and a great way to kick off the meal. The Khao Soi was outstanding and easily the favorite dish of both my cousin and sister. I ordered the pork barbecue over rice, which was very flavorful and reminded me of Filipino pork tocino. We also tried the Kana Moo Krob. While the pork wasn't quite as crispy as expected, the rich brown sauce had plenty of umami flavor and made the dish enjoyable. The service was friendly and quick, and it was nice to see the staff recognize my cousin as a regular. The restaurant itself is small, but the tables are spacious and comfortable. The Pad See Ew had no flavor and had poorly cut chunks of gristley beef! It was Pad See EWWWW! The Spicy Drunken Noodle was just as bad. Barely any chicken. The Pad Thai was awful! My sister got pad see ewe, my brother in law got kana moo krab, and I got the crispy noodle curry with tofu and veggies, and seaweed salad to share. I got medium spice for my curry noodles, and while it could've been a little spicier, it was so flavorful that I didn't mind! I never had a crispy noodle dish like that, it was so interesting and delicious! Loved that it was packed with delicious tofu as well. The salad was super fresh and a great balance to the curry! But it's worth a try if you like the sweet taste. Tom yum Soup: Lack of lemongrass and coconut milk. Aren't they the soul of this dish? The heavy overwhelming saucy flavor takes place of the sour from the lemon and the umami from the 3 shrimp and mushrooms. Pad Thai: I'm not sure whether Thailand has this dish, like China doesn't have Chinese fried rice and Switzerland doesn't have Swiss Cheese. The dish also has a sweet saucy flavor, plus, peanut sauce. It's a big portion but the beef is overcooked and not chewy. Duck curry: My first time to try curry with duck. The best due to the pineapple dice. I 'm willing to have two bowls of rice for the curry soup. But the duck skin is a little fishy. When we got in we were sat asap and it was great because it was rain hard outside. We did have a reservation but they didn't take down our name when we arrived. The service was great and the food was better. I ordered the shrimp in a blanket and the hot beef and chicken curry fried rice. The hot was actually hot without being over powering and it was amazing. There is a dish on the table that had spices you can add to your dish to make it hotter and it definitely kicked the rice up another level. I returned to Chicago last Monday and invited a guest to go with me, having bragged about this place. We both ordered a lunch item, and an appetizer. My entree was delivered to the table, first, then soon after, the appetizer. My guest was left with nothing, and AFTER 10 MINUTES I informed the waiter that my guest had also ordered a meal, and I would have appreciated being served together. No apologies. When we did start to eat, the food was so INCREDIBLY OVER SPICED that it was not edible. I mentioned to the waiter, that I couldn't eat it, as it was so insanely hot. My guest was served chicken Curry that was so hot he couldn't eat it. It was almost as if our dishes were sabotaged. Again no apologies for anything. I was not only disappointed, but embarrassed as well. I travel for a living and have Thai food all the time, but this Pad Thai was insanely spicy. I work for an airline, and we stay at a hotel within walking distance, I'll be SURE and tell fellow crew members to avoid this place. There are simply too many good restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel that I can afford to skip this place in the future. I'm a VERY good tipper and when the service/food is really good, I usually tip 50% of my bill. I would never stiff a service worker, so I left him only 10% of our bill, and he wasn't deserving of that. I had heard mixed reviews about this place and decided to check it out for myself. They offer a lunch special until 3:00 PM, and I made sure to walk in well before that. As someone who's worked as a server, I understand how timing works and that arriving before 3 should qualify me for the lunch special. Unfortunately, by the time the server returned after 3:00 I was told I could no longer order from the lunch menu. This was frustrating, especially because I had arrived on time and could've easily been assigned or taken care of before the cut-off. I later called to clarify and was essentially told it was my responsibility to say I was ready to order, which I found dismissive. The tone of the conversation came off as passive-aggressive, and honestly, just rude. It was a simple situation that didn't need to be handled with that kind of attitude. Portions were generous and prices were very affordable, especially considering the location. I had to add a splash of soy sauce to the pad thai bur overall the flavor was good. The one thing I will note is that if you order your meal "spicy" (level 3 out of 4), it will be very spicy! I can normally handle a lot of heat and often have to add additional hot sauce/chili flakes at other Thai restaurants, but the level of spice here was on the upper limits of what I could handle. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE Service. To begin, the stairs down to this basement restaurant are treacherous. There is no handicapped entrance. Then music is blasting at the restaurant that is completely anathema to the ambience. Asked by several tables to turn it down..or off ... finally they complied after 20 minute me countless complaints. Despite being only one third full, took 15 minutes to get waited on. They hav a new menu which means higher prices and worse yet, the protein choices are in such a small font as to be UNREADABLE ! As for ordering, 3 entrees came out in a reasonable timeframe, but the fourth which only involved vegetables and tofu ( which was so hard and rubbery that it probably would bounce) --- came out 20 MINUTES later and NO APOLOGIES offered.
