I've been living in Arizona for the past four and recently came to CT to visit family. I had a 15 yr old Fugi road bike sitting in a garage for 10+ years which seemed to ride okay but the front brake was rubbing. On a Saturday afternoon I took the bike to Bicycle Center with the hope I could pick it up Monday so my wife and I could continue our busy biking plans for the week. I was met at the back door and immediately ushered in when Sean, the owner, asked what was the problem. Bottom line: Sean took out a 3-Allen wrench tool and fixed the problem in 30 seconds, no charge! How professional and nice was that!! Before relocating to Arizona I had taken my bikes to Bicycle Center for 10 years and gotten excellent service at competitive pricing. I live 40 minutes away and this is my go-to shop. There are many shops closer to where I live so there are good reasons why I'm willing to drive that far. Shawn and his team are top notch, have created a welcoming environment, and are very generous with their time. If the shop doesn't have an item on hand, it likely can be ordered -- current uncontrollable availability issues not withstanding. The service department is excellent and all of the technicians have undergone Shimano technician training and or certification. 99% of the time I work on my own equipment but when something is beyond my skill set, Shawn and his tech's are the only folks I take my bike(s) to. I brought my bike there for a problem that had happened. I am not a serious biker, have a Schwinn bike but it was not working. They looked at it when I brought it in, told me what the saw and how much it would cost. Then asked if I wanted a tune up, which I did. The first gentleman I dealt with was very nice, professional and personable. He said if anything else came up on my bike they would let me know before doing the work. It was ready within 48 hours when they said it could be a week. When I picked it up the shop was a bit busy. I was on line, another gentleman came by and asked if I was being helped yet to which I said no, I am on line. He asked what I was there for, said he would go get my bike to move things along. When he brought my bike up, I was the next person on line but they were not done with the previous person so he jumped in and checked me out. This was such a wonderful experience at this shop. I haven't been on a bike in 10 years. I went in to the shop not knowing what to expect. It was the most pleasant purchase experience. Shawn and his staff are top notch, knowledgable and friendly. There is absolutely no pressure. Their entire focus is on finding you a bike that meets your personal goals with the sport and budget. I was blown away by how intently they listened to what I was looking for. They answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. There is a steady stream of smiling customers on a daily basis. I would call this place a hidden gem but to locals it seems the word is out, this is the place to go for all your biking needs. I made multiple trips before making a purchase and was always met with a smile and friendly hello. I ended up purchasing a bike for myself, my wife, a toddler seat and a bike rack. I couldn't be more happy with my experience and I feel like a more informed biker. Went for a 10 mile ride with my family today, it was awesome. The Bicycle Center is an excellent shop and an honest business -- definitely the best shop in the area! I live in the city now, but still come back to Brookfield for any bike work that I have because the Bicycle Center is that good :) The employees are all knowledgable and are always willing to talk you through your needs in order to get the best bike for you. You won't find Walmart prices here, but you *will* get a bike that will last you years -- I've had mine for nearly 14 years now, and I can guarantee you won't get that at Walmart! Additionally, the shop does excellent service work for everything from tuneups to fork replacements. Tune-ups and quick fixes are usually done in a day or two, and for any bigger repairs that they have the parts in stock for they'll typically have the bike back to you in a few days. Overall, I couldn't recommend this shop enough - whether you know exactly what you're looking for or you just know that you want something with two wheels and some metal, the Bicycle Center is the place to go. read more

I was very surprised how knowledgable the staff was. I have been a biker for over 20 years bmx, mountain, and now road bikes due to age (40's) I wanted to get cycling shoes and was amazed at how well the advisor explained to me the difference between road shoes, car racing shoes, cross trainer shoes, volleyball shoes, that I was using for my clipless pedals. He also did not push me at all to buy the shoes and gave some great advice on when to get "fitted" to a bike . It was really nice to meet a "analyst" instead of a worker at a brick and mortar store. read more

Have brought my used bikes to their store for repairs for the past eight years. The do an excellent job and will also help you to ensure you're properly fit on your bike. Finally bought a new road bike a couple years ago. Also bought my wife a mountain bike...very helpful showing her all the different options and not trying to sell the more expensive model. In fact, since the bike was for more leisure rides, they recommend a more simple, less expensive version. Great people read more

Despite the Bicycle Center's average name, their service, sales, and atmosphere are top notch. I've never had an issue when it comes to tuneups, service, or new part installation. The guys here are like barbers; once you tell them how you like your bike, they'll recognize it every time you bring it in. It's very refreshing to have someone remember not only your name, but your bike as well. The guys at the Bicycle Center are outlandishly considerate (especially considering some other shops in the area....) Always a smile, never any judgement about what bike you have or helmet you wear, and I've never once loaded my bike into my own car, they'll do it for you. I recently moved to Minneapolis, MN, a city known for bikes and bike culture, and compared to this shop in Brookfield, I haven't found a place I feel comfortable leaving my bike out here, and there are dozens. read more

I purchased my bike about two years ago after not riding for many, many years. I was 65 at the time, and was very well treated, and got a nice custom fitted bike. I recently, after not using it for a year, got new gear shifters, tires, tubes, etc. They did a great job. The bike is better than new. I know this because I rode it today. I am happy to report some businesses still value high quality service and it is what keeps me coming back to the Brookfield Bicycle Center!!!! I dropped off my wife's bike for two new tires and a cassette swap. I headed out for a run anticipating picking up her bike the following day. Instead while I was running they completed the job and the bike was in the bike rack on the back of my car!! Now that may seem like a small detail but that types of service indicates the attention to detail they provide and the level of care and thought they put into their customers. Bravo Bravo! I have been back to the store many times for accessories, advice, adjustments, etc. Shawn ALWAYS goes above and beyond to give great customer service and I've seen him do this for everybody who walks thru the door. I went in to get a gift certificate for my mother (who has raved to me many times about the Bicycle Center) the day before Mother's Day this past year. The man working the counter saw the name on my credit card as I went to pay, and told me that they really enjoyed having my mom as a customer and to wish her a happy Mother's Day from them. Incredibly personable, which I really feel is a hugely important factor in any local business. The shop has a number of road bikes and accssories, but I also saw them helping a kid pick out his first BMX bike. Cyclists can sometimes be a bit of a pretentious crowd, and it makes me happy to see a business that caters to a diverse array of enthusiasts. Also, this past May I waited a week and a half to get my bike back after getting a tune-up from another bike shop closer to my house. I figured this was because it was busy season. The Bicycle Center got my mom's bike back to her within 3 days during the same busy season, for $5 cheaper. So far this shop has proven themselves to be competent, reliable, friendly, and fair. Worst customer service they act as if they are doing you a favor instead of treating you like a customer they quoted a price and would not honor it. They stated a delivery time frame and did not honor it. And when I complained about it they canceled my order without my prior knowledge, They just could not do what they say.
