This my choice for South shore bike repair. Joe has centuries of experience. Repairs are quick, spot on, and fairly priced. Advice is free.

Great friendly, personal service. Not fancy. No fluff. Just quality bicycle repair work (and bike sales) at a very reasonable price.

Yeah, I know his website doesn't work anymore, but Joe and his crew are great people who know a lot about bikes.

They like biking, hiking, camping, climbing and etc. they know the lingo, they know their merchandise, and they are always willing to help the customer. Hingham Derby Street Shops... well, parking is plentiful, I do tend to park in the back. Never jammed up back there. If you plan on buying anything, you will want to bring your own bag as the chain is 'bag free'. Prices are very good. Competitive with Amazon.com and better than Cabela's. I used to go to the store in Framingham when I was in metro west, also the store in Reading... I'm not sure if both are still there. Shopping since '96, Co-Op member since '12. No negatives,

They have plenty of sales going on, bicycles standard and electronic assisted, survival gear, clothing from all sorts of brands, boots and hiking gear, camping gear, lanterns, knives, paddles, water shoes, and also have deals on traded in gear. Nice experience. Love walking around and looking at stuff i probably don't need but it's a cool tool or utility purposed item.

Bikeway in Hanover is the best bicycle shop I have ever dealt with. I bought an expensive electric…read morebike off the internet without thinking about the service an electric bike would require. Austin and his employees are knowledgeable, smart and incredibly helpful. Many shops I went to would not even entertain helping me because I did not buy the bike from their shop. Bikeway in Hanover went out of their way to help me, above and beyond anything I expected. I have learned a lot from this experience. Many of the bikes sold on the internet may be less money but in the end if you can't get the bike serviced, what good did it do to save a little money. I'm going to buy another electric bike which will suit my needs better than the one I bought and will rely on Austin and his employees to guide me on the best bike for my needs and I know they will be there to help me with all the things that an electric bike requires and never let me down. Thanks Austin for all your help

I messaged Bikeway and the owner, Austin, answered quickly via email, happy to help. Turns out my tires were already tubeless (whoops!), but Austin helped me with the back wheel, which had a problem with the tubeless seal. He also took the time to ask a few questions about bike fit, for example why my seat was angled a certain way (no reason -- I just put the seat on and don't know what I'm doing). He adjusted it to be more comfortable for longer rides. Despite being busy, he got to work on my bike and finished the same day which saved me a longer drive back to the shop the next day. This shop is very professional, and the owner is a cyclist himself, very down to earth, and genuinely wants to help in any way he can do make sure the customers a good time on the road / gravel / trail. I would recommend giving them a shot for service or stopping in to talk to Austin if you're in the market for a new bike.

Sure, everyone is super friendly and their mission is A+ but for actually buying a bike here...it's a weird experience. I went in recently to get a bike for a kid (preferably used (and I specified this to the salesperson) and was immediately shown a $1200 new bike. After saying that it was too expensive, a (new) (and cheaper) bike was brought out to show the kid that was in a frame 2 sizes too small. We did a test ride, liked the bike, and then when going over more details of the bike, I noticed that the kid was already beyond the height range for the frame (XS frame). Fine. They bring out another size (M frame). We test ride that and it goes well but then a different employee says that THAT frame size was too small and to scale up to a L frame. I did not agree with this assessment. Inside the store, yet a third salesperson recommended we stay at the M, even with accounting for growth. We ended up buying the bike with an accessory that was to be installed upon purchase. We buy the bike, buy the accessory, they take the bike back to tune it up to leave the store. They take a long time to do that with a vague explanation about the rotors and the front brakes but that it was fixed. Awesome. We leave the store and are headed home but then I notice that the accessory wasn't installed. Back we go for another 10-15 minute wait and no real apology for not doing the work right in the first place. Years ago, I went to check out buying a bike (at the old location near Green St.) and the salesperson would only talk to me about single speed bikes even after specifying that I was only interested in a geared bike. Another time I went to pick up a pre-paid special ordered part and the floor salesperson didn't know how to find a special order in the store. I had seen this person on the floor before, so I knew it wasn't, like, their first day, week, or even month. I don't know. Everyone else seems to love this place and maybe I've just had continual bad luck here. 2 stars for everything about the store, the third star is for the mission and programming for kids.
