Came here because it is the only Cervelo dealership around my area. But after visiting and getting a rebuild on my S2, done by my guy Randle, the service department manager, I would totally go back even if I have another brand in the future. We were looking for a popular mountain bike for our 13 year old, which was sold out everywhere including the internet. Some bike shops we called and went to were a bit short in attitude and said there was no way we could get that bike anytime in the next 6 months. We called Bike Barn and they had the bike we were looking for in stock in multiple colors. They let us reserve the bike and didn't even ask for a deposit. The post sales service is incredible. I bought an e-mountain bike from them. I almost immediately broke the derailleur. They fixed it while i waited. No charge for labor, just the replacement part. I wanted to get a taller riser a few days after I bought it. They just swapped it out and didn't charge me. I banged the new derailleur a couple rides later and it needed to be adjusted. They fixed it while I waited. No charge. I'll never buy a bike from anyone else again. read more

After a 4 year stint on a hardtail, the time came for me to upgrade to a FS bike. I was insure of what I wanted, and I planned on spending a decent amount on a bike. I had tried the bicycle link in Weymouth as it was close, and a rider I met out on the trails suggested Bikebarn. It may seem out of the way, but it's definitely worth it. Their demo program is unmatched- having a bike for a week to ride it a few times really helps you figure out if it's the right one for you. I rode 4-5 different bikes, and John, one of the staff let me borrow his personal bike as it wasn't available to demo. I ended up buying a version of that bike. Free maintenance for a year, no pressure, great demo program, great staff. Hard to beat that. read more

I guess I've had a different experience @ Bike Barn. I had two bikes reassembled here after shipping. Service was fast and fairly reasonably-priced, but I wasn't impressed to pick up the bikes and find chains unlubed and layers of dust on the gears. For $100+, they could throw in some chain grease. I've been charged anywhere from $45 to $65 at other shops, and they seem to be able to pick up a rag. The level of apathy at this place (and other local bike shops - what the H?) pisses me off. Every time I've walked in, nobody (and there are several employees standing around) greets or acknowledges you. Here's the thing: I do know a thing or two about bikes, and I do know what good service is. Bike shops in this area are scarce, but I'm sure I'll find another one. read more

Great place with a great knowledgable staff. Bought my first, shall we say "grown up" bike here after not biking since a teenager. Never felt any pressure by the sales staff, but they certainly spent a lot of time with me going over all the different choices. Then, for the fitting, John spent ample time making sure the bike was properly set up and explaining clip pedals to me. I feel every time I stop in, I get the same level of service, even if I'm just looking to buy something small. And, they almost always ask me how the bike/biking is going when I'm there. I brought my 6 year old Fuji hybrid in for regular service, and to adjust the front derailleur. I was charged $125.00 for truing the wheels and was told that they couldn't repair the derailleur and that the bike wasn't worth repairing. avoid this shop like the plague... unless you feel like having one of the bike mechanics basically tell you to "get the fuck out", twice, get in your face, and say something to the effect of "well, most people can do it themselves, it's not that difficult" in an insulting tone. having had positive visits to this shop in the past, I was hesitant to posting this, but this has to be one of the most distasteful experiences I have ever had in any shop. if you didn't have the time to help me, you could have told me politely, and I would have been understanding, but you chose to be outright rude, all over a misunderstanding... there is no excuse for that, busy or not. read more

Bikebarn is by far the best shop I've frequented. Being an overweight guy just looking to get fit and thin; they were welcoming, encouraging; just overall great guys. I have just about covered all bases at Bikebarn with the exception of mountain bikes. It's a sport that can be very intimidating when you're very "green", you can meet a lot of elitist jerks when you're out there on the road. NOT the case with the guys at Bikebarn. Their free group "Muffin Rides" are a great way to a) get into the sport. Kevin and the guys will take you on a brisk 20 mile loop to teach you the basics of group road cycling. You're always with a team member, even if you burn out and have to drag yourself back to the shop. b) meet a socialize with fellow riders. I've since hooked up with other groups who meet and ride on "Off Muffin Ride" Saturdays. Nothing is more rewarding than a (free!!) coffee and a muffin after a taxing 20-40 mile ride. The mechanics have been nothing but helpful. I've had quite a bit of service here; a tune up (which required wheel bearing service), shifter cable replacement, wheel truing, derailleur adjustments. They've always been helpful, and never have I had to bring the bike back for the same issue. All of my service has been on point. I made quite a "rookie mistake" and purchased my bike elsewhere, and the shop never gave me a proper fitting (measuring inseam, and arm length is by no means constitute a fitting), and despite purchasing elsewhere; the guys at Bikebarn got me dialed in perfectly for a FRACTION of what other places (including the shop I bought the bike at; they wanted $300 for something they failed to do at the time of purchase) were charging. John took about 90 minutes assessing physical features, asking questions (I recalled answering a bit about my bad right knee, leg length discrepancy, and a tough lower back) and fine tuning to bike to comfort. He also took a look at my cycling shoes, and made cleat adjustments (Yes, cleat adjustments will cost you an additional $60 at the other shop!). I honestly don't think you can meet a bunch of guys so sincere and passionate about bikes, cycling and the community; whether it be promoting events/charity rides, encouraging others to try bike racing, and more. Anytime I have a friend remotely interested in cycling, riding for fitness/health, or anything 2 wheels; I send them to Bikebarn. read more

The customer service at bikebarn is pretty good. From the few times I stopped by, the people were always nice. I was buying a bike during the height of the bike shortage, and Bikebarn was able to put a bike on layaway for me and were very good at responding to emails. However, I later took my bike back for service for an annoying thumping sound, and not only did they keep my bike for two weeks (though they said that the bike was done sooner but didn't call), but they neglected to address the problem. The thumping was still there, and even worse than before. It seemed like they hadn't even touched the bike. I ended up taking the bike to another shop closer to home, and they fixed the problem in 2 days. No more thumping. read more

I really don't care for this place, kind of a pretentious, snobby. Had my bike tuned and front brake adjusted, and two days the brake lost all pressure. Brought bike back and was told needed whole new front brake, said well did you fill it is it working and said didn't even try. So asked if can just fill it so did and been fine ever since. I have bought all my mountain bikes from here. I'm quite please with the bikes and the tune ups. This past Halloween we bought my latest bike from them. I was having trouble deciding on staying with hard tail and 26" tires. Well Kevin explained the main differences between fully / hard tail and 26 / 29. He knew my riding background and advised me to upgrade to a 29 hard tail. They let me demo the bike in the demo area behind the shop, and I new right away this bike was going home with me. This place is absolutely TERRIBLE. It looks nice, but don't let that fool you. Four times in a row and I mean FOUR, I got my tire fixed and the VERY NEXT day the tire pops, no lie. Today it happened again. Not only did it pop, the incompetent worker put the stupid thing on wrong to where the tire braked on it's own. AVOID THIS PLACE! It's terrible and too frustrating to keep going back. Four times in a row is ridiculous and unprofessional. If you stay away, maybe they will lose business and close down!!!!! The guys at Bike Barn are extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about cycling. I recently needed to fix my rear derailleur hanger and went to buy a new one. The staff member suggested I just bring my bike in and he could fix it without replacing it. Later that same day I received a call saying my bike was fixed and ready to pick up. My bike frame was cleaned and my chain was cleaned and lubed. They really went above and beyond to help me fix my bike. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. Whenever I go there to get my flat tires fixed for my bike I always end up having to go back there the same or next day in order to get it fixed again. For a professional bicycle business you'd figure they would know how to properly change a flat, but this is not the case. Not by a longshot. Each time I went there and tried riding it when I got home, the tire would pop . There was even one time I sat on it and it just popped, and I'm not a heavy guy at all. This happened at least 7 times in a row, each visit for the repairs. I went to DICKS SPORTING GOODS and not only was it cheaper, I've had no problems with my Bike getting flats for 7 straight months. Avoid this place, unless you're a masochist and enjoy being immensely aggravated and annoyed. There are much better alternatives that can be found on google. STAY AWAY!!!!! Also, I'm privy to believe that the extremely positive reviews on here are from the employees themselves or a friend of an employees. On google reviews they all had 5 star ratings. I am an older bike rider and am of short stature, but wanted to re-enter biking with a new bike, suited to me & my issues. I drove from the south shore to one of the major bike shops in the Boston area and was discouraged by the stores lack of inventory and the sales staff's condescending and very "cool" attitudes. After a few hours I left without purchasing a bike. Because of the positive reviews of Bike Barn in Whitman, MA I called them, told them my story and said I was interested in a road try out of a Specialized VITA xs bike before buying it, (a $1500.00 bike). They said it would be no problem ordering, & building the bike, and letting me try it before purchasing it. All the sales staff were great, nice people with good information. It turned out that the bike was perfect & I bought it. They then set me up with their bike fitting expert, who did all kinds of measurements & tweaking until we were satisfied the bike was a good fit. The cost of the fitting would have been $150.00, but was included with the purchase of the bike. I would recommend buying a bike from this shop, even if it means going out of your way, they are great! read more

Picked up 2 hotrock 12's fire my kid's today. The person helping was ok, think he was just a bit nervous but not bad. I told them that I planned on making glide bikes with them. They checked the bikes out and we came home. Got home and took took out the cranks and broke the chains. And had to cut seat posts. They worked out great. After I was done with setup and checked the bikes over I noticed that one had a bent and gouged axle retainer (a thing amagiggy). I got nervous after doing the modifications that it would be an issue to return or swap forks out. Called them up and they said to bring it back with parts and they will swap it. I was kind of surprised. Brought bike back and it was swapped out. I would have been fine just swapping forks. They definitely should have caught it on the prep and check they do for bikes being bought. I could see getting a box store bike with a defect but these are pricey little units I bought (because the light weight aluminum is a lot easier for my 3 year olds). Mistakes are made though. They do have a little bit of the music store guy thing going on as someone else said but I think it comes with the fact it's a high end bike store. I don't take it personally. I gave the five stars because they did right no questions. I would definitely purchase from there again, might have to bust their **** a bit when they are prepping the bike though! read more
