Disappointing experience and waste of time... I spoke to an overall friendly salesperson, Grayson, about a bike they had advertised online. Even though there were hidden fees for 'destination' and 'assembly & prep', I agreed to the total. Then, per Grayson's suggestion, I searched around and sorted out my own shipping service. I called first thing in the morning to make the transaction and I was told that they would not ship the bike without assembling it first (which would significantly increase the shipping cost). The funny thing is, the bike is already in the shipping box! Next I spoke with Jimmy, the sales manager, and was told that they *have to* assemble it first (fine, go ahead) but they're unwilling to then disassemble it for shipping. Again, it's already in the shipping box. They claimed that they couldn't "risk it" so I even went above and beyond and called Yamaha (the manufacturer), and figured out a way they could ship to my local dealer, so there would be no liability for them. Supposedly, Jimmy spoke to the owner who (after everything I went through between salesperson, sales manager, the manufacturer, and the shipping company) said they wouldn't ship to me at all. In the end, the final verdict was: "we don't want your business." read more

Well, my original review might still be posted but to be honest I do not see it! Terrible dealer. My son has been paying for a Lemon Yamaha Wave Runner for 10 months. It's been in the shop for approximately 7 + months! They are not reputable people!! After the 6 month repair he had to pull it to the dock by swimming, yes he test rode it in the cold Smith Lake waters to make sure it was repaired. And still a piece of junk. Go somewhere else, but check all ratings first on any of them! read more

Terrible customer service. Do not waste your time. I came prepared to buy an ATV cash, and asked several people to help me and no one had time. I then tried to buy some bumpers for my jet ski, and no one could even ring me up. I carried the box around to several people there and no one knew how to ring me up. Will never come back here again. The service department here is a complete joke. Don't even think about asking them to look at one tiny thing while you are getting your bike serviced. They will look at you like, "never gonna happen!" They don't listen, don't care, if you bought it from them and paid 30k for it, if something is broke, you gotta wait months before it gets fixed. Had a simple question the other day, called the service department only to be told to "bring it in" I'm like really? This was something simple I didn't need to bring it in, called another out of state dealership and they helped me no problem. The guy I spoke to was like, "we are several weeks backed up!" They always say that, so I told him they always say that and he says, "well other shops around are months behind!" No they ain't dude, I rode harley all my life, made a big decision and switched to Indian which is great but the one downfall is this, getting service and help when you need it. Harley customer service has always been number 1 and this will always hold Indian back until they start investing in real dealerships and stop this partnering with power sports places that know nothing about real bikes. It's really annoying and a joke talking to some of these guys. Indian gotta do better in this area. Customer service! Keep your customers bikes on the road!! read more

Terrible experience. SO NOT impressed. #tobigfortheirbritches I put a down payment on a new Suzuki DR-650 a week and a half prior to pickup. They insisted on having me come in to store to sign the paper work even after my credit was pre-approved. We were in route with an empty trailer to pick up the bike and finalize paperwork. I was running behind about 45-50 mins and told the sales person this when I talked to him. They called me back to inform me they would have to refund 1/2 my down payment and that they would not wait on me to sign the paperwork. Needless to say, I will not do business with them again, nor will I suggest anyone else go there. I literally had already driven over 2 hours to get there and only had about 45-50 to be in store. Bad business, bad decision on their part. Needless to say I was able to get me a New Kawasaki KLR-650 bike in Tuscaloosa at Smiths Sports Cycle Inc. that same day with no issues. I have a love hate relationship with this business. I love coming here because I can pick out what I want in a motorcycle. I can sit on it, see if I like the feel of the bike and try a couple brands and different bikes. once I pick out what I want, I go somewhere else and buy it. They never put a price on their bikes. So, you have to ask. Then it turns into a used car salesman sale experience. Twice, I have picked out what I wanted here, then went to another dealer and bought it. The dealership in Jasper got my business for the new VStar and I bought the Suzuki S40 in Tennessee. As a woman, I swear they quote outrageous prices thinking I am too stupid or naive to know I am being hustled. I love the Indian Scout, and they have my favorite color, but I will not buy it here. read more

This dealership is by far the worst that I have ever been to in my life. The service department is never on there A game. They use the bait and switch tactic to get you there saying that they can get you taking care of that day and then tell you when you get there that they have to keep your unit for 2 or 3 weeks (as long as they want to especially if it is a warranty job). They also don't want to work on your unit if you didn't get it from them . The service manager is a piece of work. He gets really sassy with paying customers as if he is giving them something for free. To sum it up I will not be doing business with them and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

overpriced we just got a hammerhead GTS 150 for $6000 dollars once we bought it it already one not start. We finally got it but after that it would not start ever so we had to load it back up and take it back to dealership. The second time we got back it will not shift into reverse or drive if I went from drive to reverse it still stuck and drive when I want to reverse the drive it's still stuck in reverse which is got scared about $6000. These guys are worse than terrible. Over two years trying to fix my BMW R1200RT and $3000.00 and not fixed. Finally wanted $4000.00 for new wiring harness but would not guarantee the fix. They actually got mad when I said no. Took the bike to an individual I know in Huntsville. 4 days later bike is fixed and good as new. This guy also had to replace numerous screws that they left out. They don't know what they are doing but worse than that they do not care. Will NEVER GO BACK. STAY AWAY. read more

Over the past 3 years, I've had my 2016 Polaris GEM Golf Cart serviced at this location on numerous occasions despite lengthy wait times before the work could be done. But this past February 2020, dropped it off with Jeff Fuller in the Service Department and within a month, had this thing back in my hands and I could not be happier. I don't know where Big #1 Motorsports got this guy Jeff Fuller, but he took such good care of me and one of the only reasons I'd recommend Big #1 so much is because of him. I have dealt with many dealerships in the past 10 years and Big #1 has to be the worst yet. Whatever you do don't give them your phone number!!!! You will talk to the salesperson then if your not busting down the door with cash to pay for it then the manager and the salesman will both start calling, texting and leaving voicemails. Most annoying experience I've had. The price they quoted at first was about $800 more than two other dealers but was quick to say we can work on the price a little. Had a great experience here buying a motorcycle. First time visiting but I had already narrowed down which bike I wanted to look at using their website. After a little exchange of information I was able to take it on a test ride. A fellow employee accompanied me on his bike and we had a pleasant ride for about 15-20min. Once back at the dealership I was able to sign off on all the paperwork and take the bike home that evening. Some have complained about them being pushy, but it was nothing more than what you would expect. They are trying to sell stuff to you after all. Through out the entire process everyone I interacted with was extremely helpful and polite. I would definitely buy another motorcycle from them. read more

I stopped by today to look at their helmet selection. I was immediately greeted at the front door. I didn't take it as a high pressure sales move. Instead, I just thought it was good, quick customer service. He introduced himself and asked what I was looking for. He got a few details from me and went to get their "helmet guy." They had a great selection and the salesman was very nice. He wasn't pushy at all. None of the prices fit my budget, so I didn't make an immediate purchase. I've had my Chief Classic for about 1 year now and still find it a great ride. The after sale service has also been outstanding. AJ has always taken care of any issues and scheduling of maintenance with great care. I once had an electrical issue and was out of state on a road trip. I called AJ and he found a dealer to service my problem and got me back on the road. This type of service, after the sale, is what keeps riders coming back to a dealership. read more

Brought my ATV in for a battery replace. They gave me an estimate for $143. I know you can get one online for $50-$100 but to save time, I thought I don't mind paying $50-$100 extra. After the three weeks it took for them to get to it, they replaced the battery and my bill was $386. For a battery replacement! They knew it wasn't going to cost $143. They should be up front with estimates. This is not the first time they have done this to me. They wanted to clean the carb for an extra $400. I've only ridden it about 40 hours since they last cleaned the carb. These people are at the minimum dishonest. There aren't many options in town for ATV service and they know it. If I have ATV service needs in the future I'll drive anywhere or set my ATV on fire before going back there. The estimates are a trap, just avoid this bait and switch shop. Judging by the reviews, they don't care about the customers. The ratings are accurate. Avoid!!! read more

This is the most unethical company I have ever dealt with. Andrew the finance manager is rude, unprofessional and stay away from this company!! They buy there bikes from other dealerships out of state and mark them up. Shop out of state and you will find a better deal and be treated fairly. They ask you for a $500.00 deposit without even going over financing. I didn't buy the bike and they told me they tore up the check an the next day the money was out of my account without them discussing any payments or down payment. From the service department to the showroom- I was more than impressed. I've worked at other dealerships and simply could not believe their selection. I was on a tour and I had a centerstand bolt from my 1979 BMW R100 fall out somewhere along my travels. I ride in and spoke with AJ. He and the service department were so genuinely nice- and you can tell that their riders. They told me to go get some coffee and check out the showroom. Wow. Great selection of helmets, gear, and duh- moto's. Stephen assisted me in finding an awesome pair of heated gloves that are wireless to save my hands from my trip back north to Baltimore. Still I asked to test one and told her I was from out of town. She checked with her manager and came back and said "no". So my girlfriend who actually wants the Spyder asked and again she checked with a manager after saying yes and came back with "So, is there any reason why you won't take this today? Our test rides are only for ppl that once they ride it they are ready to take it." WTF? You don't even know how to start the damn thing and you are pressuring me to buy it! Get the hell out of here! I can't express my gratitude towards Jime - he helped us with the buying process and went above and beyond. If you're shopping for a new motorcycle (or you need one serviced) and you live in Birmingham, you don't have much of a choice but to visit Big Number 1 Motorsports. I haven't had the pleasure of dealing with their service department, but from a sales perspective, they certainly don't seem to be motivated to sell a bike to me. I've now visited Big #1 on three separate, distant occasions and have overwhelmingly been met with disappointment. On two occasions, I had the same salesperson tell me no demo bikes were available. None. As in they didn't allow potential buyers to ride any of their bikes. For the record, they do; not any bike on the showroom floor, but many of them. On top of that, they were quite pushy. They made me sit down and tried to have me apply for financing on the spot. They also collected my contact information and wouldn't stop calling and texting. On the third occasion I went, a friend took me there trying to restore their reputation, thinking I'd just had bad luck. They've added a concierge of sorts to greet you as you walk in (I don't remember this being there before), which I actually liked -- it makes you feel less like you're being sold on something and more like you're being helped. We ended up speaking to a pleasant salesperson who arranged a demo of one of the bikes I'm looking at later in the week, a Ducati Multistrada 1200s (the other being a BMW R1200 GS). We show up the day of the demo to find that particular salesperson isn't there, but we've been handed off to one of the sales managers, which was fine considering it was organized to some degree. However, I was told the bike I was going to be demoing went to the service department for a checkup and a part was needed before it could be ridden. The frustrating part about that was no one had the foresight to have the bike serviced in the intervening time, and no one bothered to contact us to let us know the bike was no longer available for demo. Meanwhile, I had been willing to let slide the fact that only one of the two bikes I wanted to try was available. Instead of apologizing for the delay and/or lack of communication, both the sales manager and the salesperson who was going to accompany us on the ride (a different salesperson than the one with whom we had arranged the demo) kept telling us we wouldn't want to take a bike out that wasn't running like it should. Obviously. When we asked about the GS, they didn't have one to demo. They only had one on the showroom floor, and I guess that one wasn't registered and insured. The sales manager then said he could call me when the Multistrada was running again. I told him I'd rather go somewhere else so I could ride both the GS and the Multistrada, which I didn't think was unreasonable or snarky. He began responding by saying, "If you're going to be like that..." At that point, I had nothing more to say to either of them, so I thanked them for their time and left, disappointed again by the service I received at Big #1. I'll conclude this lengthy review by saying that I've both worked in the service industry and in retail, so I'm a very patient person, especially when being helped by others. Do yourself a favor and head over the state line to a shop that treats you with respect and kindness. read more

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!! I took my Ducati Panigale there on SEPTEMBER 12th because it was having issues starting and was throwing a faulty gear sensor error. They said it would take a month for them to even take a look at the bike! Since I did not want to haul my bike all the way to Atlanta, I had no choice. After about 5 weeks I called them to check their progress and it just so happened that as I called them, they just started looking at the bike! (Coincidence, right?) After a few more calls back they told me what issues they found and how much it would cost. I understand its an Italian brand and is going to cost more than the normal bike, but the price they quoted me was ridiculous. They told me it would take 3-5 days for the parts to come in then they would schedule it for service that same day, if not the next. At least 2 weeks pass and nothing. I call them again and they told me they got everything installed but now it was having more serious issues somewhere within the motor. They told me they will have to run tests and diagnose the new issue. A few more weeks go by and still nothing. I called them and they said they had not been able to look at the bike yet (of course!). Eventually I got pissed enough that I called Ducati themselves and they told me they would check on the bike and see what was taking them so long. After more time they called me back and told me it was another few issues one being a faulty map sensor after they called Ducati and reset a few things. Again they told me 3-5 days for the parts and installation would be the next day. About 8 or 9 days go by and they finally call me telling me my bike is ready. The new quote was also astronomical as they overcharge for labor hours and miscellaneous service fees. This is now 3 MONTHS LATER that my bike is now ready! I dont care if they only have 2 Ducati technicians; if you have a month wait before your technicians can even look at a ducati, HIRE MORE TECHNICIANS! In no way should this process have taken 3 entire months for them to fix it. I understand the bike had some issues which weren't easy fixes, but a 3 month turn around time for a motorcycle repair is ridiculous. So moral of the story it took them 3 months to service my ducati (the entire fall riding season) and cost me a ridiculous amount. Then I get there and AJ decided to say "yeah sorry it took so long, it was difficult to diagnose the issues." Learn from my mistakes and STAY AWAY from their service department at all costs, especially if you are bringing in a Ducati. read more

I contacted Big#1 as they were the only dealer showing in stock for a Ducati / Arai helmet I wanted. I was helped by Brett in accessories who was right on it and called me back and took my order. He went out of his way to arrange priority shipping and carefully pack and ship my helmet to California overnight. Fantastic customer service from a friendly and efficient guy. I even got a follow up Thank you card personally signed a week later. Good on ya Brett and Big#1. read more
