Came looking for cleats, size 13.5. They don't carry anything over a size 12. Disappointed they don't expand their sizes. It was a super quick visit as we only came for cleats. They do have lots of kids and adult sizes UNDER size 12. The cashier did greet us. The second employee seemed to be observing. There was t anyone at the shoes so we brought our two pairs to the counter. The cashier was kind enough to check for the size we needed at all of their stores in town. No luck. Can't say we'll return for shoes but we'll return for other items like mouth guards, basketballs, footballs, tennis balls, and sports equipment along with fishing equipment. read more

We went here last weekend specifically to look at football cleats, for our son, who will be playing flag football soon. $40 for an Adidas pair. We weren't sure about his size. So he tried size 6 which was too big (didn't have size 5.5). Nice seating for trying shoes on, btw. We wanted to check out other options but it's nice to know how much they run here. Stocked full of sporting goods but it still feels comfortable (it doesn't feel like you're in a can of sardines). Square shaped store. When you walk in, swimming items are at the front. Shoes are at the back wall, the middle portion of the wall. Lots of different (Skechers, Adidas, Vans, Asics, etc.) brands of shoes for men, women, and children. I like that there are several price ranges to suit three different budgets- low, medium, or high. We just walked straight to the back to the shoe department. I came here on a Tuesday afternoon with my high school aged son to pick up wrestling shoes. I was directed to the back and told that Alex would be able to assist. We were there for over an hour decided between 3 different shoes. We started at a size 9 and ended at an 11.5 in mens. Alex was patient and kind through the whole process. Big ups to Alex for all your help! Big 5 is great about sending coupons in the email to get $5 off $25 or $10 off of $50 if you sign up for the email list. This team went above and beyond at this Big 5 Location to help me. The team that I came across was so willing to help, going out of their way to find me the selections I need because I'm a bigger guy. I'd like to shout out Edith, Cheyenne, Robert, and Alex at this store. Not to mention how much more reasonable their prices are than the competition. I saved about 45% off comparable items. I have been shopping at Big 5 for over 50 years I have always had wonderful experience and the employees are top notch. The other day I went into their store and could not get any reception from inside the store and had to keep walking in and out of the store to view their add. On top of that they had two employees working so they had no help to help their customers. I had to just leave. This Is the why your STOCK is getting hammered. You know sporting goods, but you don't know how to run a business. I have had many businesses and continue to run one of my businesses that have been in business for 42 years. Very nice selection of sporting goods. They don't have everything you are looking for, but they do have a pretty good selection. I came here looking for golf gear, and they didn't have too much, but they do have the basics! You can find shoes, balls, tees, and a very small selection of clubs. Not a ton of Pants/shorts/polos, but they do have a small selection of them. If you're in a hurry and need sporting goods, you can find something here. I have mixed feelings about this place. I have always loved Big 5 as its a great and affordable spot for outdoor/athletic gear. But in March, right before the phase 1 closure, I came here for a weight bench and the guy told me they didn't have it but sent me to another location. Well, that location didn't have the one I wanted either. Apparently the guy at this store looked up the wrong sku number so I ended up getting the back up choice at Big 5 #2.. Obviously that was a bit aggravating but the other big 5 had great CS while this one has been meh, the 6 or so times I have been since. My favorite thing is how thoroughly they check everything you buy.. I mean, every pocket, zipper, etc even one of their fellow employees got it down for you. It's always nice making your customers feel like your accusing them of theft before they leave. So why 3 stars? Purely on prices and the 1 day deals. read more

Tonight me and my family walked into this store and I seen 3 workers just standing having there own conversations. As we walked in they never greated us or even acknowledge me or my family. So I was standing on the side and finally asked him a question then he finally asked me. Can he help find something. I told him no I'm OK. Just wanted to write a quick review. Went to this location two days ago to take advantage of a sale they had. Unfortunately the item i wanted was out of stock. But the manager who was helping at the register said she had found it at another location but at this time it was already 730pm and they closed in a half hour. So I wouldn't be able to make it. I dont want to use her name on here but she offered to pick it up for me and have it at this location within two days. She kept her promise and i just picked up the item and she still honored my coupon that had already expired. Thank you very much for great customer service! On Sunday 15 of March 2020 around 5:30PM i was buying a shotgun and filed all the papers to purchase it and the manager Adam came to me and said they can't sale to me because i have dual citizenship. I said that i'm american citizen and italian citizen and he still denied and rejected my application saying that i should try another store because the law of nevada doesn't allow they don't a sale gun for dual citizenship people. I felt discriminated because i'm american citizen and i have the right to bearing arms, i have a clean background, and the Big5 didn't check my background , the manager Adam just said that he can't sale to me. i'm frustrated and upset with big5 and the feeling of discrimination of dual citizenship. Big 5 is breaking the constitution that way. Next day on Monday i contacted costumer service and i received apologizes about the inconvenient situation. Certainly i don't recommend BIG5 for anybody and i will never step back over there again. read more

Never really been big fan of Big 5 Sporting Goods.I came here because looking for one particular item camelback for my long run training days. My coworker telling me about sale they had going on. One that had the exact thing was looking to purchase. It similar to camelback just minus all the pockets and not sure the term but only hold two liters of water. The salesperson was extremely helpful lead me right to the item was looking for in the store. He right off the back greeted me with warm welcome and asked if looking for anything in particular or any questions had for him. The customer service at this location is outstanding. Few reasons why never been fan. I think of Big 5 as the cheaper end for sporting goods. Yes you can find better deals then at more name brand stories. Not that I buy high end sports gear or what not. The brand names they carry some of them never heard of before and then think about the reasonable price just scars me. Cheap is great. If the quality is as cheap as the price then not worth it. Not fan of cluster or so much items that hard to find anything. You have two different sports items in the same section literally. Since its so packed tight the walkway space between aisles only fit one. So if your looking at stuff feel guilty that blocking lane for other customers. No flow to the store at all. They do offer special deals all the time. You never know when might find the next great deal. One that will make me come back again. read more

I will never shop at any Big 5 again ever. I went in to this store looking for the $199 Marine 12 gauge shotgun for my home defense. I had my 20yo son and his girlfriend with me. I was looking at the gun AND asking my son questions about it since he is looking for one as well AND he lives with me and may need to use the gun for home defense as well. He is currently unable to purchase one due to him not having our current address on his drivers license because he just hasn't gotten around to changing it...he's a 20yo after all. I felt the associate had a big chip on his shoulder because he had to work but I digress. I told the associate that I wanted to buy it. He refused to sell it to me because he was certain I was buying for my son. He said my son would have to fill out the paperwork if I wanted it. I told him the gun was for me and that I wanted it for home defense, He said what I was doing is a straw purchase and that he would not sell it to me. I was shocked that he could determine my intent and assumed I was lying. I understand they may have a liability but this was very sad. I went to another Big 5 to attempt buy the gun. The associate there said she had the same problem when she went to buy a gun with her grandfather. I guess she got here's but the after talking to her regional manager (I guess the other store associate had already talked to the RM) she would only sell a gun to my son and not me. I am disappointed with the way BIG 5 does business and any chance I get will tell my story to anyone that seeks to do business with this company. read more

I've been in quite a few of them around town and they all are pretty much the same. 1) They've been around for years which is good. 2) They have a decent selection that covers just about any sport. 3) They aren't as big as a Sports Authority, which to me, is good (easy to find stuff) 4) Prices are competitive. We came in to look for some camping supplies and darts for a blow gun. We found a very low cost cast iron pan, which was a great find. We asked about the darts for the blow gun from an female associate with short blond hair and she was very dismissive, quick to walk away, and just said she didn't know how to help us. We went to check out with the cast iron pan and another lady at the register didn't even look up at us. She didn't say hello or good bye, just gave us the total and handed us the bag. Big 5 is a smaller sporting goods store (maybe 1/4 the size of Dick's) but is good if you know what you want and need to run in quickly to get it. The staff is friendly, although I haven't gotten a lot of help on the floor, mainly at the register. The one complaint I have was when I was purchasing weights and was waiting in line for the next register, after the one register opened that the manager was working at, he came over to the other terminal and didn't indicate if he was open or what. It's not like I was about to drop the weight, but it was something heavy to carry when you're not in "workout mode". I do prefer Dick's but everything I've bought here has worked so I have no complaints. read more

They made it a problem that I wanted to return my camping tent because I had opened it and assembled it to see what it looks like but when I called the big 5 that I had actually bought it and asked if I was able to return it in that opened condition, they were more than happy to return as long as everything that came with it was still there and I had the receipt, which I had both. If ever I am looking for a cheap pair of shoes for normal everyday wear, I will come here to shop. They always have good deals on older versions of running shoes and if you browse their weekly flyer, you might find something you are interested in. Although, small compared to the other sporting goods stores in town, they have a very friendly staff that are knowledgeable about their products. read more
