Came here for a pair of Saucony running shoes. This place is usually my go to place for affordable Saucony. Best to check ads first to see what they have and if they are on sale. Was so happy to see a pair that's not all bright and flashy, on sale and when you sign up for their email list, got 10% off at checkout today! Been going through my exercise shoes quickly during this pandemic. This Big 5 appears well stocked.

This is a good store, it's just unfortunate it happens to be located in a bad neighborhood. Since the 1970's Big 5 has been my go to favorite sporting good store and I have spent countless $ at Big 5. Particularly the Pasadena location on Colorado Blvd. at Rosemead. Been here to the Pomona Big 5 several times and have purchased many things here as well (shoes, camping stuff, clothes, etc..). Quality customer service has always been lacking (understaffed), but they have a good selection of merchandise and Big 5 prices have always been reasonable. The neighborhood of this Pomona store is the biggest problem. Is a breeding ground for thugs, homeless, vagrants, derelicts, tweakers, hoodlums, beggars, troublemaker types hanging/loitering in this area. Actually... the entire stretch of Foothill between Garey Ave and Town Ave. is terrible and needs to be seriously cleaned up from all the riff raff. A dollar store directly next door to the Big 5 doesn't exactly improve the quality of the neighborhood either. Please patronize Big 5 but for personal safety, I suggest you only go here in the daytime and always be aware of your surroundings and also make sure you lock your car doors. My photos below:

This place has been here for a while don't know why it didn't show up on Yelp!

They even sell fishing licenses here. It made it easy to pick up gear for the kids. Great deals

This would cost $5-6,000 anywhere else and was such a good deal. On top of that, HUGE shoutout to Richard who notified me of what could and could not fit in my tiny Honda civic, for recommending me places to rent trucks cheaper to transport the heavier equipment, and finally for helping me load over 2,000 lbs worth of equipment onto my car. And that stuff was heavy, we were loading over 200+lbs at a time. He also did a great job in helping with the weight distribution so my car wasn't scraping the floor and he did a great job turning huge things around in my car to make it fit. So thanks again Richard for the big help!

I was able to find what I needed without any trouble, and checkout was quick. The downside was that during my visit, not a single employee asked if I needed help or checked in to see if I was finding everything okay. Customer service wasn't unfriendly, it just felt absent. A simple greeting or offer of assistance would have gone a long way. Overall, it was an okay shopping experience, but the lack of customer engagement kept it from being a higher rating.

I showed up to get a Grey Combo pair of LA Gear Rambler Men's Running Shoes and black Denali Aletian men's outdoor shoes. Lo and behold... they had both! My prices were both on the online add as I paid $21.99 and $19.00 respectively for a total of $40.99 plus tax $3.18, grand total $44.17. Instead of $29.99 and $25.99, total $55.98 plus tax (almost $60 grand total). So I saved about $16!!! Thank you Big 5! I scored today!!! I love going to this store for my sporting and footwear needs as I used to be a Big 5 Employee over 30 years ago . By the way, PROPS to the shoehelper guy and the cashier lady Cara! Both great customer service!!! Highly recommend!
