Horrible service in the sports bar. Good thing I wasn't dying of thirst or hunger, because I would have been SOL. Basically the waiters act like they don't give a shi t and that you should be honored to have the chance to give them your money. Food was overpriced, typical for most sports bars. $12 burgers, $8-9 appetizers. Skip it, you'd be better off at one of the bars at a chain restaurant, at least they'd care you were there. read more

Went today with my mother in law and my two toddlers. The bowling was 2 bucks a pop, and shoes were the same. Not too bad for price. I know it's normally more expensive but they had a special on Thursdays. It was pretty dead except for a league in there. I think the bumpers going automatically up and down for my sons turn was the most exciting thing for me ever. The last place I lived you either had bumpers or not, you couldn't remove them for adult turns. We bowled two games (horribly) and then we ate same lunch. The food wasn't anything I'd write home about, but the service everywhere was friendly and quick. We then bought a token card thingamajig and played games for about an hour. The prices for the games are right on, especially when you're playing with a toddler. All in all we had a great time. read more

I've been here a few times because its close to work and I'm a horrible penguins fan. Its the only place I can redeem myself. For a sports bar of this size its really lacking on TV space and overstaffed. Overstaffed to the point that I have to wave 2 people off aside from my server each item I get. Yes I'm good, thanks. OK I'm good.. seriously go away. The happy hour is decent, beer selection is lacking. Its basically a great place for a big party otherwise go to blitz or something. Watch out for a red shirt manager who plays with toys nonstop. I couldn't imagine doing less work and being more annoying. He's like the managerial bar equivalent to carrot top. read more

I love the specials on bowling, which is what I usually go there for. The servers tend to be slow. Food prices are expensive, but what I've had so far was good and portions can be large for certain items. Overall the place is well kept and staff is friendly. read more

Went to the Sports Bar for Dinner before Bowling - food was just ok - pretty spendy for what it was $11.00 for a cheese burger. I ordered well done and it was medium.... sent back - took forever and when I got the replacement everyone else was done. Bill was $74.00 for 4 people and that was dinner and soda only. So for what it was not impressed. Money would have been better spent eating somewhere else prior - like red robin. BUT bowling was great.... went on a Friday night - good deals and fun! Shame on this place for calling themselves a sports bar! out of town on week one of football season. Came in at 10am to be able to watch some games. Every TV had the exact same local game on. If I wanted to see that I could have stayed in my hotel room and had the free continental breakfast. This is an arcade on steroids for parents to drink while the kids play. This place has the WORST customer service EVER. Even speaking with "Anthony" the evening manager was a waste! We proceeded to bowl almost a whole game and press the service button twice prior to anyone coming to take our order. We the requested a menu, the waitress who brought it never returned to take our order. Once we got someone to come we were told that it was an old menu, our order never got placed, we finished our games before ever receiving our food, and didn't even finish our drinks. They were not accommodating in any way. This will be the last time we spend our money there! I'd rather stay home with my screaming kids! What happened to the happy hour menu and specials? What you offer is far from special and having to order certain beers to get $.50 off is rediculious. I guess that explains why the place was empty. I mean not one other person in bar. Menu prices went up substantially also. We had a beer and went somewhere different. As bowling alley's go, this is a GREAT place! There is ample parking. It is relatively new. It is well lit with lots of daylight/windows and has good volume inside so it didn't feel crowded. The lanes are in great condition. There is a full arcade and good food for the venue. The overall service was also excellent. This is a great place for some family fun at any age. I recently visited Big Al's for my uncles bday party. Wow, this place really outdoes any bowling alley I have ever seen before. The accomadations are luxurious for bowling, and the Sports Bar experience is great too. We were up in the Skybox and enjoyed the private room with our own pool table and party hostess. Food was great...pints were nice and cold. A great night for our entire party ranging in age from 6 - 55, great job! read more

Let me first say that I have been a fan of Big Al's since the day they came to Vancouver. I was there on their opening day, and I plan to return many times in the future. Overall, it is a very fun place to hang out, but it's not perfect. So here we go: ~ What they do right ~ #1: The Arcade. Seriously, when it comes to arcades, the only one in the surrounding area that I believe to be comparable to the one that Big Al's Vancouver has (not including Big Als Beaverton) is Gameworks up in Seattle. The arcade not only has a wide selection of games to choose from, but there's also a nice balance between the games you play for fun, and the games you play for tickets. Big Als is also, last I checked, the only place on the west coast to have "Pump It Up: Pro 2" machines in the arcade, which is a huge hit. Every time I've had a chance to work with the staff at the arcade, they have always been friendly, and quick to fix any problems. Pricewise, the games cost about as much as most other arcades, and the card system makes it a lot easier to keep a track on your cash, and your tickets. I also like how you can register your card at the kiosk so if you lose it, they can print out another one with your information, which is important if you eventually want to get the VIP card. The Arcade has been the main thing that has brought me back to Big Als for several years now. #2: The Bowling. Now I will admit, if you go bowling here at primetime (friday and saturday after 5PM), the prices are going to get very steep. Last I checked, its around 5 bucks at primetime to bowl, plus 3 bucks for the shoe rental. If that was the price for bowling all the time here, there's no way I would bowl at Big Al's. However, they have a deal after 9PM Monday through Thursday where bowling is only 2.50 a game, and that's usually when I bowl. The lanes are very well maintained, and the service for food and drinks is always quick, and the music level is never too loud. Enjoyable overall, but only at the discounted price. #3: The Food/Happy Hour. I don't know who it was who came up with the new happy hour menu, but that guy is a freaking genius. So far as price is concerned, the happy hour is probably the biggest bang for you buck around here. 3 bucks gets you a giant margarita or hurricane, and the most expensive item on the happy hour menu is the $5 burger, which is a full size burger with a giant onion ring (Burgerville style) right in the center. Other amazing happy hour items have to be the khaluha pork quesadillas, the southwest wrap, and the beer battered fries. On the regular menu, they have several entrees that include burgers, seafood, pizza, italian, and salads. I haven't had anything on the regular menu for several months now, but I do remember the NY strip steak with peppercorn being delicious. Now I really only have one complaint against Big Al's, and it's the only thing that prevents me from giving them a 5 star rating. And that complaint is this: ~ What they do wrong ~ #1: Food service on the weekdays. Now honestly, I understand what the management does with it's employees here. Obviously, the most popular days for Big Al's is on the weekends, so that's when they're going to hire the most servers to take food orders; I understand that. However, the last 3 times my fiance' and I went to Big Al's to have their happy hour on a weekday, it took close to 15 minutes for our first drinks to arrive, and nearly 30 minutes after that for our food to arrive. Now please keep in mind that the bar and the bowling alley weren't too terribly crowded (the last time we went being on tuesday). In fact, there was only about 15 lanes in the bowling alley being used, and I would say around 7 other tables filled at the bar. From what I could tell though, the waitress who was serving us was the only server in the entire building, working both the bowling alley and the bar. Or at least she was the only one that I saw serving out drinks, other than the bartender. Another time, I saw our server chatting it up with some people at the pool table while we were still waiting for our food to arrive 35 minutes after it was ordered... I don't care how meticulous of a chef you have working in the kitchen, it doesn't take 30 minutes to cook a quesadilla, fries, and 2 burgers! So overall, this place is a very fun place to hang out, and if you come on a weekend, you should definitely try some of the food. If you come on a weekday though, maybe just get some booze, cause if you order some food, you'll be waiting for a while. 4 Stars. read more

Alright here we go. Rewind to last weekend, we tried going bowling with a party of 4 on a saturday afternoon. They said the wait was 3 1/2 hours so we decided to put our name down and go get some food, considering the wait was so long. As we have appetizers down and drinks down, we get a text, 45 MINUTES LATER, saying our table was ready. Well we could not just get up and leave the restaurant so we said, whatever we will try Big Al's next weekend. Well this weekend, they said 4+ hours and it would be a waste of time to put our name on the list. Feeling a little disappointed and upset, we decidedly walk around to the restaurant side & get food since we were already out on this side of town. It's a seat yourself and order yourself. You can't leave a tab open, which means you tip after each drink you order, you tip after your appetizer, you tip after your entree, a bizarre system & you could tell the employees did not like it. When asking, what seemed like a manager, for a refill on 1 water glass, he did not say anything and just walked away, then he brought over an entire pitcher of water for one glass. Very passive aggressive, as he did not say anything after we said thank you. When I ordered the chicken strips, I had the option to add a dry rub to my chicken, so I did. I also put in the special instructions for ranch since there was no option for a dipping sauce. When they brought out the chicken strips, there was no ranch and no dry rub on my chicken. When asking the waiter for some ranch with my chicken strips, his name was Will, a small younger waiter, he started saying "sure" as he was walking away from the table, so it was unsure if he was talking to us or what but it was VERY rude. He then brought out 3 huge things of ranch.. For one basket of chicken strips. I'm not sure why these workers are so rude. I'm very unimpressed with the workers of this establishment, their time quoting for bowling is so off/wrong, their ordering system for food & drinks is super strange, and the employees seemed like they did not want to be there, therefore I didn't want to be there. I have no plans on ever returning here. I'll take my money to Dave and Busters or Bullwinkles. read more

For a bowling alley, this place is not too shabby. They have a nice restaurant there with decent food (although a little pricey) and giant tvs to watch sports on. The bowling alley is pretty sweet, with big-screens playing music videos. Again, a little pricey, but if you need more stimulation than just a ball and some pins, its worth the price. read more

So Big Al's I think it a smaller version of Dave and Buster. I have never bowl here so I can't tell you how that is, but my friends like bowling here and they said it really nice and clean. I like to hang out at Big Al's and play in there arcade area. They recently have a big PAC Man game and it really fun to play at they also have 4 person air hockey and lots of other games they aren't as big as Game Works either, but for Oregon/ Van they are the best currently with arcade games and such. They have food and drinks which make hanging out with your friend here a ideal place. There game prizes are good too if you in to playing games that gives you tickets. read more

This place used to be a lot of fun, but due to poor management, they have a lot of broken games, games that take your money without giving you any thing in return (like claw games), and they have lost a lot of their best games that drew kids to the location to begin with. The service was awful. They took forever to get us a check and forgot about our table. We bowled for an hour and our pins kept disappearing through out our game. This happened multiple times which took forever to fix. We came back to get dessert and our table we had at at during lunch was still how we left it. I can go play some frames, watch the football game, and get some good food all in the same place. sometimes the kids get rowdy, but you're in an arcade. if you sit in the sports bar area it is ideal for watching any game you are looking for. the nachos are big enough to keep you snacking until halftime and then go let off some steam by playing some air hockey. read more

This is a House full of fun. Great bar and restaurant, an Arcade that is not only good for the kids but for the Adults as well. They have plenty of lanes to bowl on so it is not difficult to get a lane. If there is a wait they will text you when you lane is ready. May 2019..... These are the foods on Big Al's menu: chicken Lettuce Wrap- by now everyone has have and/ or seen what it suppose to.?lol like food wrapped in a leaf of lettuce. Uhm; not here it's well indescribably wrappable. Kung Pao Califlower- wet, not fried and crispy. Big Al's Nachos- one ice cream scoop of meat and toppings over 1 lb. bag of dumped nachos on a plate. Buffalo chicken dip concoction dumped on this dish,as was on lettuce wrap, kung pao. Why no pictures, didn't have the heart to let anyone see what everyone goes thru when ill and taking a close liking to john. I do recommend the rib stack, pork belly. Big Al's is definitely a pretty decent place, especially if you're into bowling. The food was definitely so-so, although the cheesecake was somewhat redeeming. Of course one usually isn't in a bowling alley just for the food. And as far as bowling alleys goes Big Al's is pretty state of the art. We had our daughter's 13th birthday bowling party today, and I thought Big Al's did phenomenal!! We really appreciated the flow, organization, price, and customer service during our party. We had originally booked a party for 14 girls, but we had a couple of girls not show so they let my husband and son bowl! They gave us 3 very large pizzas, but we had plenty left over! The personalized sign, bowling pin water bottle and personal greetings and check in by the actual person who booked our party was over the top! So much fun! Thank you, Big Al's!! read more

If I didn't bowl on a league here, I would never come back. This is the second time in a row I have been completely ignored by the Big Al's high-school waitstaff while I pre-bowled. Two managers had to help the front desk girl figure out how to setup league style play after she incorrectly set it up. The lack of training and customer service is deplorable. Management should be embarrassed. Jon and Juanita were great, but they should impart some of their customer service knowledge upon their rookie staff. Wait staff is decent during league play. Had a blast, but it wasn't because of the venue.... Thank goodness for fun friends!!! I was in a group of 10 to celebrate my birthday. We decided to try out their restaurant and it was 1 of the worst experiences of my life. Three different tables to seat us, appetizers arriving for some and not others, entrees arriving before or with appetizers, lettuce wraps that were all onion, a sad little taco salad that was really a small handful of lettuce in a taco bowl, and slow service. Our poor waitress had approx 15 tables without anybody to help bus or deliver food. They definitely need to hire more help. The manager did comp the entire bill without any hesitation and that was much appreciated. We then ventured into the bowling alley. Typical bowling alley that you'd find anywhere. Lots of teens, loud music, flashing lights. We had horribly slow service here as well. I will be back as the arcade had a few games that were toddler size and I know my 3 year old would have a blast bowling and playing games his size. Next time we will probably eat at Five Guys down the road before entering with empty stomachs. read more

Recently I booked Big Al's for our annual company picnic and every single person said they had a great time. The service was excellent, the price was reasonable, and it was nice to have our own room and lanes. As part of the package they even got game cards for the arcade.
