I meet the girls every Tues for darts. 2 of them ordered chicken strip basket with salad rather than fries. 20 mins later I walked to the bar and ordered the same thing. They brought me a dinner salad. I went to the bar to let them know it was wrong and I was told "we are out of chicken strips and she does not have time to cut and bread any more". They then charged me $9 when the salad was $8.50 on the menu. The bartender shrugged when I told him that. They did not offer to make it right. If they were out of chicken strips they needed to tell me that WHEN I ORDERED! Who wants a salad with their beer?!? Be sure to read your receipt! These guys will rip you off. UPDATE: Someone replied below stating, 'Its 50¢ difference cathy.' They completely missed the point. This was never about 50 cents; it was about the poor attitude of the staff and the lack of basic customer service. I have been going to silver stat for awhile, I use to like to play darts there. However recently I have noticed the bartenders have been over charging me and my friends. . When we confronted this one young man he laughed at us.. Money is tight and if you want to be overcharged for things you didn't order you keep going there. However the guy laughed at us knowing he had the credit card information so he could do whatever the hell he wanted. This is not the first time they have overcharged us. But it will be the last! I don't have money to give to this person who thinks he own this establishment. I have been going to silver star on and off for thirteen years and this guy is the most corrupt person I have meet there. He laughed at us! What kind of person laughs at you when you have a concern? Think I'm over reacted? Check you receipts? Ask what you ordered. Make sure he didn't add that extra drink or charge you for a pool table you didn't use. read more

I've gone to this place a whole three times every single time I've had to wait in a very long line to get a drink... whatever happened to servers? Do they no longer hire people to take your drink at the tables especially if I'm paying $12 a drink?? I had seen two separate Facebook posts advertising this establishment that made it appear as though the Saloon and Billiards area were maybe two separate entities maybe under the same roof.I visited yesterday before a tournament at another location as a reconnaissance mission of sorts. See, I'll be playing on a team at Silver Star beginning next week. I'm a self-described ambivert, so to eliminate the anxiety of trying to remember all new names, get my bearings, AND demonstrate the team made a good choice selecting me, I needed to eliminate one part of the "new-ness," ( think: being the new kid in middle school before knowing anyone). Now, I am a natural blonde, and have experienced a complicated entry into a "secret bar" back in the midwest where patron watch the vestibule captured with CCTV as the door person requests the hopeful entrant to do silly human tricks as the bar giggles and commiserates over a drink when finally enter. I entered the vestibule which clearly "open" and located conveniently very near the single disabled parking spot. Through the vestibule to a second door labeled "lLounge,". Mercy-me if I saw no pool tables when I had predicted (and was informed of) a great number of pool tables. Didn't see 'em, thought I may have missed the pool hall section entrance,...I fortunately do not embarrass easily, because I tried 3 other sets of doors that I thought just *had* to lead to my billiards nirvana. When I went back to the initial entrance and walked through the "Lounge" doors, laughing at myself, I INSTANTLY felt at home!! Very lovely bartender Annie fessing up to the value in entertainment revolved around confused pool addicts trying to enter. A few patrons joined in , introducing themselves and immediately helping me to feel relaxed, part of the group, and I'm in love! I didn't eat there but Annie made a great drink, I noticed a few people off-track horse race betting, a wall of electronic dart boards and 2 dart boards for steel-tipped darts. Dart leagues were about to begin, not very many pool players were there at that afternoon hour, though I'm sure weekends are packed. Ed runs a 9-ball tournament every Saturday night, though May 11th, there will be a memorial tournament honoring a pool player in the Vancouver community who had passed away. If you go to Silver Star and are bored, then just shut your pocket and leave the vibe fun and friendly. There's something for everyone: pinball, 2 separate jukeboxes (two sets of speaker systems), so be care when choosing your jukebox from the TouchTunes App. There are bar stools, chairs, small & larger booths, and sections that give me the impression that even on a very crowded night, nobody would be tripping over one another. I noticed their menu features breakfast until 4pm, for a night owl like me, that just doubled my love for this place!! Stopped in here for a beer and a shot (or few) with my buddy. Great service. Tons of pool tables. Lots of room for activities. I had the bacon burger with tots. Pretty tasty. I hope to try their nachos on my next visit. Kind of western themed (I'd be surprised given the name if they weren't) They offer horse track gambling (Atleast they were when I was there) Great staff. So this place has all the pool tables in the city! Well you would think they have over 15 tables. They take quarters which is nice and 50 cents a game. What a deal. This place came recommended from a fellow Bartender at Wild Fin on the waterfront. It has a nice jukebox that has a variety of music! Oldies and more! The prices of the drinks and food were reasonable. I had a great time here. Not to mention the Bar Staff was super nice! Buyer Beware! This was the second time my tab didn't match what I had. First time I let them gaslight me into thinking I had it wrong. This time I paid attention. Somehow 5 beers came to $42.95. The safest bet is to close your tab each time or pay cash. Maybe wait till the end of your night to tip. If you do run a tab it's a good idea to ask for an itemized list of what they are charging you for before they cash you out. Don't worry about holding up the line asking questions because they're slow anyway. Parking is very limited. read more

Great place to play pool and have drinks too. The karaoke is what it is... thankfully it doesn't overwhelm the pool playing side of the house. The appetizer plate we had was fine. The bartenders were good, seemed hyper-focused on the next drink which is understandable in their profession and this economy. The most enjoyable staff member we encountered was the brand new security guy turned bar-back who clearly had a lot experience as he took every situation in stride and was a true professional all evening. read more

Vanities this establishment on 06/06 and will not be returning. Took 10 mins to be acknowledged at the bar too for a drink. Took another 15 for us to get their attention to order food after we asked the bartender what she'd recommend and had the menus out (they came for the empty cup not to take our order) and from 6:59-8:10pm they took to cook 2 baby burgers and chicken sliders. When asked during the time how much longer they continued to say not much li BFF we and yours is next a las it never was "next". When I asked the manager if she thought it was an acceptable wait time for 2 items to take over an hour she said "well they are busy" when they were NOT too busy at all. I feel like they lost my ticket and didn't own it or offer a comp or condolence for the experience being shit over all. Not a good eating spot, not get for service. Not great parking over all I would recommend the spot down the road over this dying one due to their employees not taking care of the customers. read more

Some of the most horrible customer service i ever had. Guy at the bar acted like he didnt want to serve me and my friend when we first walked which, we were like cool we will just get our drink and enjoys our selves. I ended up going back to the bar and waited patiently for 10-15 minutes without being served. Within this time the guy bartender served the young lady next to me but didnt acknowledged me. He looked at me several time whiles on his phone and talking/playing with coworkers. So im guessing one of the bartenders friend walked up (two seats down on the other side of the lady next to me). The guy bartender walked up and shakes his hands and proceeds to tale his order. This is when i lost it! I managed to track another bartender down and asked her to closes out my ticket. As soon as she handed my receipt i asked about getting change for pool. She told me 2 twice to go the the back bar and i told her both times it was closed. And her was reply was "well you're going to have to wait in line" haha! Really?! After i just sat in line all this time and you literally just closed put my tab. Yeeaaaa this place is a JOKE and i will never go back or recommend to anyone read more

This place was one of the worst country bars I have ever been. Bartenders were rude to my brother and friends. They acted like we were inconveniencing them by trying to order food and drinks. The person running the karaoke was completely rude as my friends asked to play a couple songs we could dance to as it was my birthday. They tipped $20 dollars to convince them, and he only did so very grudgingly. I get it's karaoke night but to switch it up here and there wouldn't have been so awful. One song was played only to be cut off in the middle of our second song that was requested as we are in the middle of the dance floor. Then proceeded to come on the microphone and say this isnt what Saturday nights are for at the Silver Star. I guess this bar doesn't like paying/dancing customers. We keep trying this place out because it's so close to our house but tonight was the last time. The karaoke host barely allows anyone that's not a regular to sing. Not a bad divey karaoke bar with a decent menu and a good selection of beers on tap. The night I was there they had a color wheel at the bar, where the color you landed on (red, green, etc) was mixed with Long Island mixers for $4.50. I have been going to this place for nearly 2 years now. All of the bartenders knew me by name almost immediately after I started going there. They have their regulars and I have only seen one fight the entire time I have been going there. I am a regular. The person below said the chicken strips are poor. Not at all! They use franks red hot in the batter and the strips are great in size. They give you what you pay for there and that is great. Yes, it is your typical bar food. But my boyfriend and I have went in there just to have dinner before. They have karaoke almost 7 days a week, unless there is a band on Saturday nights. Melinda is great! Tries her best to get people in the karaoke mood, so long as they cooperate. She doesn't complain when you ask when you're up next either. She KJ's Thursday through Saturday night. Went on a Wednesday night after playing card games at Dice Age Games (down the road). Walked in and saw a large group playing poker, which was a good sign that they were gamer-friendly. They have a nice selection of beer on tap. Not amazing, but good for a divey bar. There was some karaoke going on and a nice large dance floor where the singers were doing their thing. We sat in the back in the booths next to the pool tables, which seemed to be in good shape. Once a patron asked us if we were playing Pokemon (we weren't) and later one of the bartenders asked if we were playing Magic: The Gathering (we weren't, either). Apparently there is a group of Magic players that is trying to get a meetup going on there on Sunday mornings. So, this place is definitely gamer-friendly! We had a nice time and will definitely be going back to play games and drink some beer.
