Perfect combination of chopped brisket, smoky bark, and melt in your mouth burnt ends. They offered BBQ sauce on the side but only used it on a couple of bites. Wow wow wow wow wow wow. The ribs here are the best I have ever ever had. There are plenty of great reviews of this place. And they are all well deserved. Hell, one of the bad reviews was someone whining about someone smoking outside too close to the door Haha. I would walk through clouds of smoke and poison to eat here. Now maybe "down south" someone might say you can get better bbq... Shhheesh dont care. These ribs are all I need to be a happy man the rest of my life on this earth. My complaint would be that they serve items (especially on the weekend) until they run out. 5 o'clock on a Saturday and they were already out of ribtips... Best Pulled Pork Sandwich I've ever had. I'm a big boy who loves pulled porks and this was perfect in every way. Meat was juicy, sauce was delicious but not covering the delicious meat. The coleslaw was crisp, and the bun stuck around solidly until the last bite. The Mac and cheese with bacon was bomb dot com. I don't even know what that pasta was, it was like a macaroni asteroid-field. The cheese oozed and pulled like in my dreams. The St. Louis ribs almost made become a Cardinals fan. Go Cubs! I tried my friend's brisket and cried because I didn't have my own plate. The service was incredible and the atmosphere works: clean, inviting, and cozy. I want to try everything on the menu. Big Ange's is an incredible bbq focused restaurant with an Italian twist. I finally got to visit my Uncle Mike aka da MeatMan and it was a memorable meal. Let me set the stage that this was following thanksgiving dinner also prepared by my favorite chef, Uncle Mike and his loving family. The man loves making people happy with food and delivers with delicious flavor. Big Ange's is owned by a Italian family and I got to meet Rocco, great guy! There is a big friendly crew working in harmony and a good reason locals were coming in at 3pm. This place rocks! The standouts for me were the pastrami (not from your Mommy), the rip tips were outstanding and the burger. I'm still salivating from the stellar sides, which were white cheddar ooey gooey Mac n Cheese and crispy hand cut french fries, Outta this world good!!! I did not try the hot dogs, polish or the salami stuffed grilled cheese because I was only eating for one human. You can't go wrong here as they have a little something for everyone. This place was GREAT!! We just stopped by for dinner, and everything was awesome. The burger was fresh and juicy. We got the porchetta sandwich and also so delicious (we added hot peppers). The fries were hot and crispy, good size too! Everyone working there is so nice and friendly that we want to come back just to see them! Mike at the register was super nice and helped us through the menu. It didn't phase him when I asked for multiple things on the side (I'm THAT girl). They cook everything to order, which is my favorite way because I hate when things are sitting under the red lamp. Hubby and I are all about trying new places vs going to a chain, and we are sure glad we tried this place while we were in the area. Had a Maxwell Polish and fries, and both were fantastic! What stuck out the most was the attention the employees gave to the customers. My husband ordered while I used the restroom, and when I came back and looked at the receipt I asked him why he didn't order a drink. One of the employees immediately asked if I wanted a cup of water. As we are chowing down, another employee brought an older couple (also eating) some food in carry out containers. He started to walk away, stopped, and then asked if they wanted him to put it in the warmer for them until they were ready to leave. The drawback was it's a bit tight for the crowd it attracts. Have been to Big Ange's several times and even met Ange, what a nice, wonderful person. This place is spotless and a gem in the community. We've had everything here. Our favorite is the brisket, by far. So soft, and melt in your mouth. The Haystack Onions are also very good. Love the cold salads, all of them. The ribs are, as others have mentioned, on the tough side. The tips are good, but alas, as others have mentioned, are drowning in sauce. We've come to expect that though we ask for sauce on the side every time, we never get the courtesy of sauce on the side. The brisket doesn't come sauced, maybe that's why we always order this.
