Bibimbap - rice, over-easy egg, beef, assorted vegetables Haemul Ddukbokki - rice cakes, shrimp, squid, scallops and clams Haemul Pajeon - fried savory Korean pancake, seafood, green onion Bibimbap was not very good. Flavor and texture of rice, beef, and veggies was lacking and mushy. Seafood pancake was decent - good amount of seafood and could use more green onions. Seafood rice cakes was very good! Loved the sauce flavor and chewiness of rice cakes. No issues with service. Good amount of seating in a clean space.

My kid was craving jjajangmyeon, and we found this place -- and wow, what a find! We ordered: Pajeon Jjajangmyeon Jjamppong Dakkalbi Ddukbokki Everything was phenomenal. The dakkalbi with the bao and sauce was delicious I was surprised (in the best way) by the crispy rice cakes in the ddukbokki. I've never had them like that before, and now I'm obsessed. Pro tip: Dip your pajeon into the ddukbokki sauce (our server Terry's recommendation) -- OMG. Next-level good. A must-try combo! The jjajangmyeon hit the spot for my kids, and the rest of the black bean sauce they ate it with rice We'll definitely be back

It's time for an updated review of Ttowa because it's been a year and we've enjoyed meals from here many times during the year. Terry, the owner, is always gracious and friendly. His mom, Mrs. Park, can often be seen checking in on guests or serving a dish with a proud, humble Korean Mom smile. This is a warm and welcoming restaurant with comfortable seating and plenty of spaces between tables. It's very clean and the table setting is pretty. The food is delicious! We can't get enough of the Dak Buns, which are BBQ grilled chicken pieces on a fluffy bun. The menu will list 4 per order and it's 4 very generous buns filled with an ample amount of chicken. It's one of our favorite items to order. We love the seafood pancake, Haemul Pajeon. It's packed full of seafood like calamari, shrimp, scallops, and fragrant green onions. Cooked crispy and comes with a complimenting dipping sauce. The japchae with added beef is a perfect dish with yummy chewy sweet potato noodles, veggies, and generous amount of beef. Each item can be a meal on its own, but they all go so well together. We've also had the Dduk Bokki (tteobokki) and it's not super spicy (which is perfect for me) with the right amount of chewy goodness to the rice cakes! When my husband is feeling hungry for something more, he gets the Sam Gyup Sal Entree which is pork belly and the Kalbi, short ribs. I like the bibimbob because it's got everything in a bowl - veggies, rice, beef, an ooey egg and a little bit of spice. Now let's talk about the banchan, which are the sides that come with our meal. The kimchi is the perfect level of spice, sweet, and vinegar for me. It's soooo good and addictive! We've also had the mashed potatoes, picked cucumbers, kimchi cucumber, fish cakes, and so much more than I can even name! It's all so good! We have never left Ttowa without leftovers to enjoy the next day and Mama Park has been generous enough to pack us some kimchi to enjoy with our leftovers. If you haven't had Korean food and want to try, this is the perfect place to go. They're proud of their food and always happy to explain what they're serving. Now I want more kimchi from here!

Really yummy Korean food. The buns are just as good as people say. The banchan is not extensive but delicious. The bulgogi is excellent. As was the bibimbop.

Service was great. Very attentive staff and food came out quickly. The inside is not very big so reservations are recommended. The are is not too busy with plenty of street parking nearby making this an easy destination. I decided to come for dinner at 630pm on a Wednesday after the holidays. We ordered the Black Bean Noodles, Dak Kalbi (chicken) and Short Ribs. We got some buns on the side. I really enjoyed the Dak Kalbi because of the spices and flavors in the seasoning. It was perfect for the buns. The black bean noodles were interesting. They are very flavorful but I could barely taste the pork inside. They have a very soft texture and you get a good portion of them. The ribs were delicious and easy to pull from the bone. They come with some charred veggies which was nice. I love all the sides like the kimchi and cucumbers and fried chicken. My favorite is always the potato salad. Overall the proportions are great for sharing. I came with 2 other friends so we ordered 3 different dishes for us all to try. I will be back to try some more food!

My family has been eating here for years and we have loved everything we've ordered! The owner is so kind a friendly and always takes time to chat with us if we're dining in, or even just picking up for take out. A MUST try!!

I tried the bulgogi and japchae. Everything was good, including the banchan. Service was very friendly.

The restaurant is small, with limited seating, but brightly decorated and immersive on the surf decor. I ordered the fish n chips, and they let me know it would be about 12 minutes, because they make everything fresh. No problema, dude. Beach Boys, surf music and other mellow tunes play overhead while you wait. It wasn't long at all, and I was presented with three (3!!!) crisply battered fish filets on a mound of seasoned shoestring fries. It was hot (prepared to order, remember), and delicious. The fries were awesome as well. I thought it was a little pricey, but the portions were large and I had plenty to take away. My fish was delish -- and I'd be glad to come back and try some of the other combos. The people who worked here were chill and friendly. Good vibrations!

This is a cute little restaurant with a few tables, window seats and seating along the wall. With the weather being nice there are tables outside too. Hubby and I wanted some seafood and we passed by Surf's Up a few times so it's long overdue for us to stop and try the food today. The owner, Lisa, was working behind the counter. She is so sweet and certainly very proud of her restaurant! We asked her for recommendations and she was happy to share some of the top preferred items of guests. She gave us time to look over the menu. I settled on the fried catfish dinner with a side of grits, greens & a roll. Hubby wanted fish and chips with a roll. Lisa told us that everything is made fresh to order so it would be about 15-20 mins. We weren't in any hurry, but we appreciated the heads up and the fact that it was all freshly made. The food arrived crispy and hot and oh so delicious! My catfish was so flakey. The grits and greens were the perfect sides to go with it. Hubs really enjoyed his fish and chips. The fries were so good, we couldn't stop eating them. Lisa also sold us on the fresh bread pudding, but we so full so we had to take it go. Just finished it tonight and it was even more delicious than she described! We will certainly be returning to try the shrimp po' boy and other items on her menu! Plus more bread pudding. Don't pass up this cute little place with delicious fresh seafood and desserts plus friendly service.

I was hoping that it would be a taste of New England here in the midwest. Placed our extensive and expensive order for 6 hoping to have dishes to share. The order was placed...all to be ready for pickup in about an hour. Feeling generous, a 10% tip was added to the tab (even though I had to pick up) Six mouths watering, here is what we ordered and here is what we received: 1) Clam chowder - opening a can of Campbell's would have been more tasty! Hard to find an actual clam in this bland bowl of liquid. Bacon? Clam? haa haa! 2) Clam Strips - oh sorry, we're all out. 3) Lobster roll - the lobster consisted of a few flakes - no chunks! Again, absolutely bland. No flavor but plenty of chewy roll served with a tiny cup of uninspiring limp cole slaw. 4) Lobster Mac and Cheese - oh sorry, we're out. 5) 1/2 rack Ribs - overcharred, dry not meaty hunk served again with their limp cole slaw. Not even BBQ sauce to choke these char sticks down with. 6) Cheddar(?) biscuits - 4 bland biscuit blobs that the kids wouldn't even eat. Absolutely NO flavor. 7) Crab spaghetti - pasta was OK but the search was on for crab chunks. 8) Coconut shrimp - the ONLY saving grace of this entire meal disaster. It was quite good. 9) Key Lime/blueberry pie - the 1/2" graham cracker bowl swollowed up the tiny amount of key lime filling topped by an abundance of blueberry pie filling (yes, the kind you buy in a can). The dense crust was so hard to break into that the scant lime was not worth the effort. The only edible part was the whipped cream which was quite good. You would think that whoever takes an order would be aware of what is no longer available. BUT the manager "generously" offered to take the items off our charge. WOWEEEE. To top it off, after we left the building, we noticed that the clam chowder was not in the bag which required another "face to face". To add insult to injury, our 10% tip was not adjusted. Sooooo......unless you plan a trip to New England, I guess Red Lobster will have to do. At least you'll get good cheddar biscuits! Chuck's Dockside......walk the plank :(
