Used to love coming to Big Apple Bagels to work or study. However, the staff is SO LOUD and is often arguing with each other. Makes the whole environment and vibe feel off. Recently updated with new painting and some new decor. However, I'd take the old paint and decor if that means I could get the old staff too! Used to love a breakfast sandwich and coffee from BABs in TC. Coffee was always made by the same woman who knew my order and knew exactly how I liked it. Now, it is totally different. Never the same staff working. Owner is loud and disrespectful. As a woman, I do not feel safe being in his presence. Food took a long time on my most recent visit. Came here in June when up visiting TC and it was way busier and way faster than it was on this most recent visits. New muffin flavors strike me as odd. The remodel they did lacks the originality and fun that once was. Gray walls with nothing hanging up on them gives a monochrome and monotone vibe. I enjoy every type of bagel, cream cheese and muffin. All very good, and so many combination options. They do not leave you lacking for cream cheese amount which I appreciate! Yum! I wanted yogurt in my smoothie, but their yogurt was frozen. They offered to compensate me back for the yogurt upcharge, I said, "no worries." Best regular coffee on town. To be honest, I've only ever ordered a breakfast BLT and the breakfast blend coffee. So I'm not very familiar with the other choices. The staff is great. Super friendly. 7/21/16 and 7/22/15 This place was so good we went twice. The counter people and the people that bring your food to your table and not only very friendly but were also efficient. The bagels were excellent, I loved the margarita bagel, which had a mixture of sun dried tomato, cheese and pesto mixed into it. The breakfast sandwiches such as the The Southern Tradition, consisting of your choice of meat, scrambled eggs, and cheese was delicious. The only thing that would make Big Apple Bagels better is if they had Earth Balance (non-dairy) spread or non-dairy cream cheese. Big Apple Bagels has so many bagels to choose from, from your "basics" (Everything, Garlic, Sesame) to the more exotic like Maple, Tomato Basil, Cinnamon Bun, and Strawberry! They also serve muffins, sandwiches, coffee and some fairly great bagged tea. Back to the butter. So when I realized I had such a wide selection of bagels to choose from, and a great selection of tea or coffee, I was disappointed that my only non-dairy topping choice was peanut butter. Don't get me wrong, peanut butter is awesome, but I think it would behoove BAB to provide a non-dairy alternative. Earth Balance spread lasts forever and has non-hydrogenated oils, it's a super healthy alternative to butter or margarine and would even make a great selling point to customers who do have dairy. I understand it's a chain and it's hard to do that sort of thing but I would go to Big Apple Bagels every morning for breakfast (and maybe even lunch) if I knew they had an alternative for me. read more

This is by far the best bagel shop anywhere I have been! Bagels are always fresh and soft! Great selection and lots is sandwich options! The breakfast sandwiches are our favorites and we go there very regularly when we are headed out and about in the mornings! My wife loves the Caesar salad and says the chicken is awesome! There is a great selection of coffee, too. The staff are always helpful and friendly and you often see the owner there working, too. Hoping it was just an off day but I did not have a good experience with this shop. There were six employees working, one was helping the couple before me. My boyfriend and I waited a while before anyone even acknowledged us, then had to wait even longer to be helped. When I went to order, the worker was rather rude to me. I ended up not getting anything but my boyfriend got a breakfast sandwich which was lower on the list of good breakfast sandwiches we've had. To make it worse, the woman who helped us was the manager so I can't imagine what kind of tone she sets for her workers if that's how she treats customers during a slow time. Seems like everyone else's experiences were good, so hopefully my interaction was out of the norm! read more

Im so torn with this review. I absolutely LOVE the food here.. any chance I get we stop here for a quick brunch. Even just a plain bagel with cream cheese satisfies me for hours. However, I have had one pretty awful experience that put a huge damper on my love for this place. I love their smoothies so one morning I decided to go with the usual peach smoothie. When I took a sip it was just awful. The peaches were CLEARLY spoiled, to the point where it gagged me. I kept smelling it thinking maybe im crazy but even the smell was awful. I finally decided I should say something about this rotten fruit... so I told the girl, I think my smoothie may be spoiled. she asked what kind I had and told me the peaches were not even close to their expiration date, so I kindly asked her to smell my smoothie and tell me that it smelled normal. she actually smelled my rotten peach smoothie, looked me straight in the eyes and said... "yup, thats how it always smells" I've had the smoothies, I know that's not normal! I was outraged that not only would she not give me my money back or let alone make me a new one. Having worked in the restaurant business I know that if a customer is not happy you try to fix the problem. Anytime I go there now, I stay away from the smoothies. What a disappointment. read more

We order sandwich bagels are they were delicious. I did ask for my bagel to be toasted dark and it wasn't toasted at all. My pickle was soft and flimsy. Coffee was very good. The place was clean. We used to go to big apple all the time and the sandwiches were fantastic. We went today and both got the blt bagel meal. The sanwich barely had anything on it. Would of been better off getting a bagel with cream cheese. Paid 18.00 for 2 thin sandwiches a few bagel chips pickle and pop. not ever again read more

Very good bagels, cream cheese, and all that Jazz. The rest of the food is good too. The service is usually good, but as everywhere in TC, it's busier in the summer and there are a lot of temp workers. So during summer, service can be spotty. If this happens to you, just speak to any f/t employee, and they will straighten it out with aplomb read more
