Intrigued, I called and spoke to Robert personally about repairing the original Delco 2700 series AM/FM cassette unit on my '82 Oldsmobile that had never worked since I've owned the car about 15 years. I wanted it back to full it's full functionality. After speaking with him on the phone I was confident he was the right person for the job. His knowledge and attention to detail was evident. Not only can he fix it but he can do one better. I had been putting this off for years because I didn't know who I could trust to do it right, and I wasn't about to send my original 44 year old stereo to just anyone. Choosing Robert was the right call. I opted for his additional services to improve sound quality and also add an aux input cable to be able to play any music from my iPhone as well. What I like is that it runs out of an existing hole in the back of the unit and no external modifications are made for a completely original look. I can tuck the cable under the dash and you would never know. Stereo retains full normal functionality when device is not connected. He also touched up the chrome outlines as I requested. Being able to hear clear music though my car's own speakers for the first time brought a big smile to my face and has greatly enhanced my driving pleasure. So since he was put on the hot seat when I asked for the name of the person whom passed my husband's inspection and shouldn't have, he got awfully offended (as any guilty person would) and said he wouldn't give the name (that I have now thanks to my husband's inspection papers) and also now he wasn't going to cover the job on my car under Toyotas warranty...didn't know we can pick and choose when to follow that. The whole funny part about this is someone is supposed to be his manager and not once did that person come to the customer (me) to discuss this after seeing and hearing there was clearly a problem going on. They responded to my service request really quick, and I was able to schedule an appointment for service just a couple days later. They gave me the best quote out of 6 other shops! The work was done in a reasonable amount of time, They have a really nice waiting room, warm, cozy, music, drinks. I had to drive 40 mins away from home to get my service here, but I'm so glad I did. I won't be going to any other mechanic in CNY from now on, the drive is worth it. It's in a nice location, easy to access. Tons of gas stations near by too. I believe they are family owned, and they even sell cars which I thought was cool. If I had to buy a car in the next few months, this would be my first stop. They are proud and stand by their work. This prompted me to drive 4.5 hours one way to see just 'what was what' at this shop... In their defense, one caliper did need to be replaced (as one wheel's brake was 'metal on metal'), the 4 rotors needed to be replaced (along with pads), and one stud/lug nut was cross-threaded. My daughter is a 20 year old who 'calls em like she sees em'. All I know for certain is that she didn't like this place. I told him 'not everyone in Clinton is rich' during a civil 'one on one' conversation outside. I asked him rhetorically, "With all due respect, $1100 for brakes??; What do you think the car is worth, $2000?" He replied, "Well, maybe a little more than that." He shrugged his shoulders and went back inside. It is a 12 year old very common sedan. I took the car elsewhere, on the outskirts of an east coast city... It turns out that the car also needed a new lower control arm (it had a cracked bushing), badly needed new spark plugs, and needed a new oil sender unit (which was leaking a lot). ALL of this additional work (plus all of the work quoted) was completed for $1000 elsewhere, (Parts and labor fully warranted, licensed mechanic, done within 24 hours) Do the math & good luck in selecting your repair shop.
