She greeted me And I explained to her that this was first time and she walked me through the registration process. I didn't have to wait long because I was called in to the room. I had a history done on me and I told them about my coughing issues. I was given quick swabs and it was explained to me what they were testing for. Again, my wait time was not long and I was seen by Dr. Elina Kerzuma. She was really very nice and patient with me. I told her about my issues and concerns. She walked me though what was going on with me. She gave me options about issues that I had. I was given a chest x-ray. It was determined that I was in the early stages of Bronchitis! I work in a middle school and lot of my colleagues were going through this exact issue. She immediately gave me the medication that I needed to work on my illness. She already had my medication sent to Target. I was encouraged to come back if I was not feeling well. I appreciate the fact that my experience wasn't rushed or I wasn't feeling ignored. The male nurses that were there doing my cultures and background information were efficient and respectful. I honestly felt comfortable. I went out to get a coffee and one of the staff actually asked me my name and said that the medical team had called me so I can sit with my boyfriend while he waited to be taken into surgery. She then went back to check and escorted me to where my boyfriend was. This was not her job and was much appreciated. Surgical Team Everyone was so helpful and kind and greeted me with a smile including the surgical nurse, and other staff. Dr. Jacobs was outstanding! They took their time explaining the what to expect and every detail of the consent forms. Sometimes medical staff can be curt or in a rush but I did not experience that here. We then sat there for another TWO HOURS while everyone collectively forgot we existed. Again. Meanwhile, two nurses were openly talking about how badly they wanted to go home. At that point we looked at each other and said, "You know what? We don't want to be here either, girl," and walked out. Now here's where it somehow gets even better. TWO HOURS AFTER WE LEFT, they called us to ask if we were still there. I'm sorry... what? At that point I wasn't sure whether to laugh or congratulate everyone involved on creating the most immersive escape room experience in New York. The doctor who answered was extremely rude. It's not what she said, but how she said it. She kept talking over me while I was trying to explain what was going on, and she ended up hanging up on me. I was in tears -- I'm just trying to help my daughter feel better. I called back and spoke with Shana at the front desk, and she was no help at all. I asked for the doctor's name so I could make a proper complaint, and she refused to give it to me. Instead, she ignored my questions and continued talking to someone in the background without even placing me on hold. I was shocked by this level of unprofessionalism, especially from a place I've trusted for so long. I work in healthcare, and I would never speak to a parent the way I was spoken to today. The line to enter was essentially down the block but I didn't let this discourage me from getting tested since I really wanted to know what my status was seeing that I was exuding symptoms (12/19). I actually had my lawn chair with me the first time around to prevent from standing on line for a long period of time. Each time the wait time was about two hours before actually getting inside to get tested. Once inside, the process of checking in is pretty seamless. When it's your first time there, you must fill out a one-sided form which is standard. After being an established patient, it's simply a matter of stating your name and date of birth. You stand in line for a little longer before actually getting swabbed. You're asked to wait outside for about 20 minutes to obtain a physical copy of your results. From my experiences here the staff is pretty kind and patient despite the anxious people who are on liine for a long period of time. Be aware of people who try to skip in order to "ask a question"! All in all, be kind and give the staff a break, they're doing the best that they can to assure that everyone's accommodated for. I won't be back here anytime soon since I'm a Healthcare worker and my job provides PCR testing (Saliva) where the results are populated the very next day.

I've lived in Crown Heights for years. And have been to Kāmin Health several times and have…read morereceived adequate treatment and care. I've always been glad for their services and availability. However, it is my last visit that I'd like to highlight. I'm a little over 7 months and am a first time mom. As anyone who is pregnant or ever has been can attest, there's a lot of weirdness that is happening with your body and health. A lot of things are considered common and/or normal. So it's hard to know when one should worry or when something is normal. Prior to my visit, I was throwing up multiple times a day. I couldn't keep any food down at all. I'd be woken up from my sleep just to vomit. If I wasn't full out vomiting, I was gagging and choking on acid and bile. I thought it was bad heartburn and acid reflux. At my OB I complained about what was happening to me. They gave me a list of things to try and take. None of it stopped the multiple times of daily vomiting, heartburn, and then the respiratory issues that came as a result. Nothing I tried worked. I tried to drink water, electrolytes, eat bland. No matter what I did I'd throw everything up multiple times in the day. Needless to say, I was so weak, felt awful, and exhausted. My OB wanted me to rule out COVID. I headed to Kamin to get tested for COVID, and see if there was anything else I could do. When I arrived I was greeted by two young women, Katarina and Nechama. They were both lovely, so helpful, and very comforting. I felt like I was going crazy due to how sick I've been, and they were amazing with normalizing what was happening with me. Katarina tested me for COVID, RSV and the Flu. And updated the PA, Alicia. Alicia came in, listened to what I had experienced, and examined me. She confidently diagnosed me with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness. And explained in depth what HG is. She started me on fluids due to my dehydration, and gave me anti-nausea/vomiting pill. I'm telling you the relief was immediately felt! I literally could feel my strength coming back and the need to vomit decreasing. When my treatment was done, Alicia and Katarina noted my demeanor change. And I confirmed how good I felt. Alicia gave me a prescription for the anti-nausea/vomiting meds and told me to come back anytime I felt dehydrated. I was so excited to go back home as I was sure I'd finally get an uninterrupted night's sleep. I have to point out that there is a maternal health crisis among Black birthing people. So it meant the world to me, as a Black woman to not just be taken seriously in regards to my health, but also being treated with so much care and attention. I am so grateful for the team at Kamin who saw me that night!
