This is what barbecue is supposed to be! From the moment you step in you realize that they take the preparation of their meats seriously. The wood scent is in the air and the meals that we ordered arrive perfectly cooked and smoked. The brisket had a perfect bark, as did my ribs. They had been slow cooked to that fall off the bone perfection! Both were served with no sauce (it's on the table) which allowed me to truly taste the wood smoke that they were cooked in. My wife ordered a ribs and pulled pork combo and she had the same epiphany; this is real Texas BBQ. The cashiers that take your order were incredibly helpful to us, a couple of first timers to the place. They made sure we picked great sides, including some wonderful baked beans with chunks of meat, my sweet corn, cole slaw, and corn on the cob with real butter pats. It was a lot of food, in fact we took enough home after our meal to be another full meal! It's a rustic, barbecue joint, with family style sitting on picnic tables, but there is also big booths, and smaller tables if you are not into group dining. It took me back to roadside BBQ stands back in Texas, so I kinda liked it, right down to the Shiner Bock signs and boot scootin music in the background! We had friends visiting from Hawaii and they wanted bbq so we found this place. Upon entering, there was no one to greet us but the venue is big and cleaned. It was a Texas style BBQ place and the venue was full of benches style seats and tables. We walked up to the cashier and studied the menu and ordered. We ordered a 3 meat plates that come with 2 sides, however if we want ribs that's $5 extra. The wife decided to try 1/2 rack of baby back pork ribs which they were generous about and they were soft and moist and falling off the bones. It was perfectly cooked. She also ordered beef ribs which also cost an extra $5 and that came with 2 big ribs per order. The beef ribs could use additional 5 mins of cooking time as they were kinda tough. The briskets were good and soft but not as moist as we had hoped. The fried okra was amazing! It was cooked perfectly and crispy. The Mac & cheese could use some more milk in it as the cheese was really condensed and on the dry side. We washed all these down with their self serve sweet iced tea so refills were free. Overall I would give this place a 3.5 out of 5. I recommend they cook the beef ribs longer, add more milk to Mac & cheese and oh don't order their fries. It was soggy and limp. read more

Not only do they have okra, but they also have Blue Bell ice cream, Big Red soda and Lone Star. Oh and according to one member of a party, they have Dr Pepper and that's a winner for him. Located in the southeast corner shopping center at the intersection of Cimarron and Sahara, there is a lot of parking and different stores in the strip mall. The restaurant is huge, with lots of seating for large and small parties. They have a bar and serve Blue Bell ice cream by the scoop! We ordered a 2-item with trip-tip and brisket, Mac & cheese, and green beans and a pulled pork sandwich combo with fries. The tri-tip was delicious. Nice and juicy and didn't really need any extras. Just a nice piece of meat. The brisket was dry and needed sauce, which is a little on the vinegar-y side for me. The green beans were not my favorite and tasted more blanched than cooked, however, the mac & cheese was pretty darn tasty! One of the best we've had in a quick service BBQ spot. The pulled pork sandwich came dry, but the bun was soaked in the grease from the pork. Definitely added some bbq sauce here as well. The fries are well seasoned and were nice and hot. This used to be a 5-star place for us that we frequented regularly. Lately, the quality is inconsistent. Loved the pasta salad but last time I ordered it, there was so much black pepper that I almost could not eat it. Last week ordered a 2- meat meal and the meat was literally burned and the creamed corne (usually a favorite) was brown and obviously scraped from the bottome of a pan. The place is so charming inside very homey and comfortable with that cozy Western vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. There are TVs everywhere, so it's perfect if you want to catch any game and the layout's great with a bar on one side, plenty of seating on the other. You walk up, order at the counter, and then they bring the food right to your table, so easy and relaxed. There were plenty of tables to choose from and the restaurant had a Texas/cowboy type theme. We ordered a half rack of beef ribs (4 ribs total) and a pound of moist brisket. Ordered a family meal for Father's Day. We wanted BBQ but our favorite BBQ place was sold out. So we found this place and thought of giving Big B's a shot. Well, Lo and Behold - it is now our new fave! We ordered pulled pork, brisket and smoked turkey. All were delicious and full of smoked flavor. What I loved about this place is they ask you if you like your brisket lean or fatty. Most places don't give you that choice. The spicy BBQ sauce was sweatin' hot and the original BBQ sauce was just as yummy. The BBQ beans was another win. Everyone in the family enjoyed the meal. Their staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their product. The decor is sports bar esque but not intrusive for non sports fans. It instantly reminded us of Rudy's Barbecue back in Albuquerque, which we used to love. When I went back to get my tritip, they explained that the way they cut the tritip it looks like brisket. And proceeded to bring out a dry and a wet brisket to show me that it was tritip.
