Honestly some rooms are worse than other rooms. I had unit 25. The lock to the door didn't work, but we sorted it. Pretty clean inside and nothing really gross. Had wifi and good tv channels. Rooms were clean and bathroom was basic and alright. Good comfy place though. read more

Updating to 1 star based on owners response and complete lack of understanding that if you are paying a large cleaning fee you should not have to take out your own trash, make sure the kids was thier cups and correctly identify which washcloth to use in which situation. It's honestly ridiculous to stress about all these signs while trying to relax. Also I am not sure what he is trying to say about units? Is he saying the pet friendly ones all suck? I don't get it, the property is listed as pet friendly, and I go to pet friendly properties all the time? Or is it just Unit 11 that sucks? IDK what he means... I would have gladly paid more for a nice unit that I did not have to do chores in and was more modern/clean feeling. Org review below unchanged: The only reason this held up for two stars is the location, otherwise it would be one. Maybe it is a different experience in different units, but based on the check-in/check-out I highly doubt it. First they use antiquated equipment still taking credit card impressions that staff has access to, then they present you with a litany of documents to sign that make you feel like they expect you to damage the property. I stay in a ton of higher end hotels and frankly the amount of scrutiny for a family checking in was offensive. Once in the unit you are once again reminded that they have your credit card info and one false move and they will charge it, seriously the unit had signs all over the place, a checklist for leaving the unit, a sign warning you to take out your own trash even though you pay a cleaning fee, literally a sign in the bathroom warning you to use the correct washcloth for makeup removal or they will charge you. Rewind the VHS video tapes or you will charged... yea that's right video tapes, get the picture of the decor and how dated it is? The gas fireplace was unusable with no log in it, the bbq grill on the patio had clearly not been cleaned in years (I will probably be charged for that). We were on pins and needles the entire time in the unit it was not relaxing at all, because we were too concerned the kids would use a cup and forget to wash and put it back in the kitchen. What is the cleaning fee for? We had to do all the work, not only that it did not even feel clean when we walked in? If the tenants have to do all the heavy lifting what are the maids doing? Clearly not working very hard, honestly it was gross. I really hated our stay here, but it was close to Snow Summit for mountain biking. I understand they probably get some large parties here, but as a family this place is offensive. I will gladly pay more money to stay across the street or even further away. This place makes so many bad decisions, it's a shame because it could be amazing given the location and all the units. Start by treating your guests as guests not suspects. read more

3 major issues with our cabin: 1. Took a shower and went to room to get dressed. After putting on my clothes I look up and see a guy sitting in his car. Turns out there was a missing blind. This was the kids room by the way. 2. The kitchen sink shot out in three directions. If you left it on for longer than 15 seconds, youll have 3 puddles to clean up. 3. The coffee pot was not meant for the coffee maker, so it did not engage the spring for coffee to pour through. This made it overflow and impossible to make coffee. They couldn't go out and buy a new coffee maker for $20. They took some random pot they found and put it in the already super old coffee maker, and didn't even bother testing it. read more

Unit 73. First thing, nice location. Service was okay. That's it, just okay. Guy up front wasn't the friendliest but wasn't too bad. In the house, there was no garbage bags. I called he told me to come get them from the office. I felt they should've delivered them or just had them stocked in general. There was a coffee maker under the counter cabinet with old coffee in it it. It was super gross, see photos. Next there is a huge spider web in the corner above the TV. not a big deal for me but for kids and wife. It bugged them a little, especially that the main bedroom in just over the wall (loft). Another thing is there is so much stuff shoved behind the main tv that it actually is a fire hazard. The CO2 monitor battery prong was broken so the meter was constantly beeping. Called and they once again made me come get the battery. For the amount of money we paid I figured they would've had all this stuff handled. read more

I believe this review is for the condominiums that they rent out, located just outside the Snow Summit resort. We stayed here this past weekend and it's alright. In comparison with the condos that I'd stayed in Mammoth or anywhere else, this is probably the least likeable condo that I would like to stay at. However, the proximity to the lift made it a little bit worthwhile, so I couldn't give less than 3 stars. Pros: - It's just a block away from the Snow Summit resort. - Parking permit was given 3 spaces, even tho the condo sleeps only up to 7 people max. - TVs on the master bedroom, usually only on the living room. Cons: - Space was pretty small, especially the bedrooms, everything was tight. - Gas wasn't allowed to use by the management, so we had to depend on the heater. - Woods had to be bought from mgmt office, $5 for like 5 logs, ridiculous - Carpet is very dirty and you gotta wear all the dirty shoes from outside inside, because they never cleaned it. Will I stay here again? Maybe, if my friend rents it, then I'd follow. If not, I would rather find a better and cleaner place. Total for 2 nights we spent $578, so each person about $82.50 for 7 peeps. Not bad considering we're so close to the resort, but not that I'm neat freak, but dirty just doesn't fit well with me. read more

If you want an amazing location and don't need luxurious accomodations, Escape does the trick. Each unit is privately owned, so there will certainly be variations in the furnishings and conditions of the different condos. PROS: - Amazing location, just steps from Snow Summit (could be immediately next to the Summit parking lot or could be a block away depending on your individual condo. - Everything worked fine in Unit #8 including TVs in the living room and bedrooms, fireplace, kitchen equipment, and hot water with strong pressure in the bathrooms. - Seating for 20. I'm not sure you'd actually want to cram 20 people into this little condo, but between the couches, dining room table, barstools, game table, and random extra chairs you could entertain 20 people. - WiFi available albeit spotty. CONS: - Not a ton of space in our three bedroom unit. Everything was a bit tight, especially in the second bathroom. While there was ample space for 4 adults and 3 kids, if you had 7 adults you'd be pretty smushed. - All the furniture and finishings are very dated. I don't think anything has been updated (other than the flat screen TVs) since the mid-70s. - Lighting was fairly poor. Everything was quite dim which made it feel a bit depressing at night. - If you are in a bedroom next to another condo you might be stuck hearing the folks next door laugh, cough, and talk. - If you want to walk somewhere other than Snow Summit you are probably better off staying in or near the Village. read more

If it wasn't for the location I'd give this place one star. The town home is cramped. It was dirty when we checked in. The TV did not work in one room and they couldn't fix it. No washer/dryer in the room. Wifi is solid. No sharp knives for cooking were in the room. We had a clogged toilet at 8:55 pm and we were told to wait until the morning or meet someone at the front desk in 30 min "with $20 or a drivers license for a deposit!" WTF!? I'm paying A THOUSAND DOLLARS for three nights and you treat me like I'm a college frat boy rushing a fraternity!? No thank you. I won't be back. read more

This place gets a 5 star for the excellent location literally steps away from the ski lift. You can't beat this location. Unit 120 is excellent in this regards. Check in was easy enough. The 3 star overall review is because the unit is so out dated. The kitchen sink faucet needed to be turned in a specific way to avoid it dripping all day. One of the bathroom faucets did not turn on. And also the bathrooms (there are 2) are incredibly tiny. You practically have to enter sideways and we are not an overweight family. I did not appreciate that we had to "Clean dirty dishes and put them away", "Throw trash away into trash bins in the parking lot" or security deposit will be charged. Interestingly there was an envelope for a gratuity tip for the cleaner. We always tip the cleaning staff..but really, what is the cleaner doing here if I'm doing all the cleaning and emptying the bins? Another reviewer posted this same comment and the managers' response was that they only ask that we put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and turn on the cycle - well that's a lie. There were not any hooks near the entrance for hanging up jackets or helmets - surely a necessity at a lodging resort that is catered for snow and cold weather activities. The televisions (3 of them) did not work. Internet connection is not good either. I guess we paid a pretty penny for location but other than that this place is overpriced and broken. Dusty. Old. Outdated everything. Disgusting patio. Dead insects inside the cabin. Stained sheets. Non working appliances. The cabin was so dim that we felt like we were in a cave (we had every single light turned on). The heater was louder than bombs droppin' on Beirut. You will stay awake ALL NIGHT. The place is tighter than a crab's ass. I felt like an inmate in a 9X9 cell in this cabin. The only positive is that it's so dang close to Snow Summit. Maybe that's worth it for some of y'all. For others, pay a little extra, sleep somewhere clean, bright, spacious, and take the free shuttles. Otherwise, the place needs a wrecking ball. Gut it. read more

I along with my family and friends stayed at Escape Condos. The office staff is always very friendly and helpful. We had a total of 8 condo and each condo has been improved. All of the condos were clean and comfortable. As a repeat visitor of Esacpe I can truly tell that the management has made tremendous improvements to the property. BEWARE OF BED BUGS!! Booked a 3 night stay over Christmas at unit 14, a 3 bed/2 bath house that fits 8 people. The location is great for Snow Summit access but we had quite a few problems. First the shower would run out of hot water after 4 or 5 people used it. The last couple of people to use itwould have to take cold showers, or worst, start with a hot shower and then have it turn ice cold a minute into it. The overall cleanliness of the house wasn't great. If you walked shoeless for a minute on the carpet your socks would catch a bunch of white hair, probably from a cat or other pet. Worst problem was bed bugs! Yes! In the master bedroom! Returned to LA covered in bites all over my body and developed a massive allergic reaction! read more

The one star is for location only which is walking distance to snow summit other than that everything else was terrible. We took unit 24. It's carpet throughout even in the bathrooms!! Carpet in thick and dirty. We had the place for two nights but it was so bad we had to leave after the first night. The unit is very cluttered which makes more difficult to clean. At the time we wanted to leave I talked with reception about our early departure due to the condition of the unit but she didn't say much and tried to talk to some new guest as it didn't matter that we were not happy with our stay. She somehow made it the house cleaners fault which by the way has nothing to do with the situation since the condo needs serious renovation not cleaning. read more

Rented unit 104 for a couple of days and really enjoyed the stay. Clean unit and very close to snow summit. Was able to walk instead of dealing with all of the parking. Backs up to the campgrounds so you have a nice view out the patio and bedrooms. Master has queen bed and second bedroom has two full or queen couldn't tell. Well worth the price read more

We stayed in Unit 120 for this past Labor Day weekend and we loved it. Unit was beautiful, everything worked, and it doesn't get any closer to the snow summit. One master bedroom, one queen bedroom, and another alcove with two twin beds. No problems. In fact, I made a mistake upon booking, and the ladies in the office made it a non issue, and we really enjoyed our stay. We definitely plan to book this unit again. Despite what other reviewers have said, the clean up process is nothing more than just a respectful courtesy of throwing your trash away and washing your dishes. read more

We stayed in Unit E-11 S and it was absolutely NOT worth it. It was over-priced for a summer Saturday to Sunday stay. It was gross. I don't think it has been updated since 1960. I was so disappointed in our stay here and personally embarrassed for choosing it. None of us slept well because the beds were old and had no support and we were scared bugs to touch the old comforters. Here was our biggest problem - it was dirty. AND the price of $180 went up to $273.93 due to the CLEANING FEE!!!! WHAT?! We were only allowed to check in at 4 PM and had to check out at 10 AM. So for less than 24 hours you charge about $100 for a cleaning fee?! AND all around the apartment were ugly notes about if you do this - you will be charged - if you don't do that - you will be charged. For example - if you use a white towel to dry your face and make up gets on it - you will be charged. The best is that there was an envelope asking for tips for the maid - and the envelope was dirty. I was highly disappointed in everything about this place that I will never return. The only positive thing I can say is that the blonde lady in the office was very sweet. read more

We have been renting from here for about the last 10 years. For the most part, we were pleased with our stay each time. We usually book #127. It is convenient and suited our needs for a family of 5 at the time. We also stayed in #113 after our arrival one time and #127 was supposedly cleaned and ready. t was a mess. The office immediately gave us #113 and apologized several times. Office staff have always been nice and friendly to us. We added 4 more family members this trip 1/10/18-1/12/18. We booked condos #122 and #125. Upon our arrival, 122 was available for immediate use. This is the one we took since we had more in our family. It was spacious enough for the 7 of us. Upon entry, we could see the carpet probably hadn't been cleaned in awhile. I understand these condos are dated, but does the furniture have to be also? I get they are rentals, but our unit had torn chairs, broken legs on 2 of 4 swivel chairs and one bar stool had the backrest missing, which was fine until I went to move it and got cut on my hand from where the backrest would have been attached. Another disappointment we all agreed upon were the beds. The wooden bunk bed sounded like it was going to break!!! The metal bunk bed was unstable too!! The master bed felt like the springs were about to pop out!! Our boys took the mattresses from the wooden bunks and took them upstairs to sleep on. My oldest son and his girlfriend made the best of the metal bunk bed as did my wife and I with the master bed. My brother in law and his wife stayed in #125. They had to wait about 1 hour for that to get cleaned and ready. After they got the keys, they had to get the TV fixed. They too commented on the beds in their unit. For the amount of $$$ we spent, one would think you would get decent toilet paper, paper towels etc. We plan on renting from here again, but hope these concerns reach the people who either own the individual condos or the property management team. read more

The location is great! Easy walking distance to the slopes, but the condo we rented was dirty. My kids even said they were scared they were going to get lice from the beds. I found plastic packaging upstairs, a ventolin puffer in the 2nd bedroom and 2 plastic straws and 1 chopstick in the bottom of the dishwasher. There were cigarette butts on the verandah and right next to the entrance- we don't smoke. I also pulled a metal teaspoon out of the garbage disposal. All of this within 1/2 hour of arrival. I kept my socks on inside because I wanted to keep my feet clean. The particular unit we rented also was extremely dark. I was using my flashlight app on my phone to navigate my way around the condo because there were no ceiling lights only little old lady type lamps with the lowest wattage bulbs possible. Even then, 1/2 of the light globes were blown. I ended up taking all the lamp shades off just so we could see. I don't mind if places are dated - I have yet to find a condo in Big Bear that wasn't dated- but I would prefer clean. Also we were charged just over $1000 for 3 nights but there was minimal 200 grit 1 ply toilet paper, and no soap of any kind! I went to the office to ask for some soap and was told 'Oh we only have dishwasher tablets' Great! What should I do with that knowledge? So I had to go to Von's and buy some soap and decent toilet paper. The kitchen sponges under the sink were all used as well. Really a couple of guest sized soaps, toilet paper and a kitchen sponge would cost under $5, but here we are getting nickel and dimed when we paid top dollar for the weekend. We won't go back. I'll be happy to hear from the Escape management if they want to discuss this further because i bet they charge individual owners top dollar for cleaning and other services. read more

Have stayed here a couple of times...It was so so...But finally it is under new Management and the Condo Units are now kept clean. Some are updated and some are older but, clean is clean. Of course we stay there because it is beside the VIP Parking at Snow Summit so we just walk to the Slopes. Can't wait for snow again! read more

We were very disappointed with our stay at Escape Condos in Big Bear, CA. Upon booking, it was unclear that some condos didn't have wifi, phones, laundry and ours had none of them. We requested to be moved to another condo but were declined. We left a day early with a list of complaints including: broken fireplace screen guards, shower runners, uncomfortable beds/mattress pads, coffee makers that didn't work, broken shelves, and frayed bed linens. We would not recommend this condo to anyone. The one star rating is because of proximity to the slopes, nothing else. BBG read more

Other than the location, this place was very mediocre. We rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo over Christmas. Can easily walk to the ski lifts at Snow Summit. However, the place is very outdated. Carpets were dirty. Even my daughter's bed sheet had some kind of weird brownish-red stain on it. Eww. It was difficult to keep the place heated without blasting the gas furnace -- which made the inside air very dry. One big issue was that the master bedroom TV was unusable. Only static. The cable was hooked up but we could not receive any reception whatsoever. The downstairs TV's remote wouldn't work -- and it wasn't the batteries. I called the office and they NEVER returned my call. When I checked out and told her of our issues -- she basically said they were swamped over the Holiday and they know some of their units are in need of updating/repair. Oh, well. Would not stay here again. By the way, we were in unit 49 -- and you pick the unit when you book it. The front desk doesn't even know what each unit offers since the units are all privately owned. read more

Feb 12-15, 2016 was supposed to be a family get away that i planned for valentines. It was the worst thing that ever happened in cabin 85. The first assaulted by this cabin was the wet dog smell, no animals allowed but it sure smelled like one had been here. A whole bottle of Febreeze finally helped.The heater didn't work and the owner was aware that it was "going out"" they brought area heaters that then tripped the circuit breakers and still no heat. I had to recall at noon the next day because the repair man still had not shown. The curtains are falling of the rods and one near the slider was hanging in ribbons. The shower doors we not hinged and almost fell over on me. The bathroom is TWO fights down with towels for only 4 people instead of 6. They did not have proper hanger to keep hand towels off sinks or extra towels off surfaces like toilet tops. DISGUSTING! In the pictures I never saw the stairs or I would not have rented the place. We tried to get something else but it was booked solid. The mattress were so bad and sagging I needed a seat belt to stay in the bed and did not sleep well because i felt i was falling on the floor. The bathroom floor was lifting from water damage and was so small that I felt uncomfortable even brushing my teeth in the closet they called a 2nd bathroom Then the oven didn't work and could not be repaired until tomorrow. I had a ham with all the fixing already opened and improvised by frying the pieces. My kids and husband were hungry after coming off the slopes. My valentines plans went up in smoke with a huge fight and I left after one day of 4. I will never stay here again. it is not worth the money if it is not maintained. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and was in Snow Creek just last month. I paid less money and had a wonderful time. There was no effort by this company for a service save either and I was fed up. For the money these people charge it should have been pristine. So I will stay further away from snow summit because fighting the parking is better than fighting the accommodations!
