I used this mover to move me from one house in Lake Arrowhead to another. Both houses had 3 floors with one having about 20 steps before you even got to the house. I just used Redlands Moving and Storage to make a move across town. Jayson and Brendon were my movers. They could not have been nicer or more professional. I'm a senior, so it takes me a little bit longer to do things. Not a problem for these two. They were so patient with me. They went out of their way to make suggestions for furniture placement, and even removed a door that was in the way! I would leave 0 stars if I could. This "business" in NOT accredited by BBB! It lost it's license! It does not honor the customer. They are liars and extremely fraudulent! DO NOT USE!!! They either damaged,stole, lost or gave away almost $3000 of my goods. They will NOT respond to my emails asking for a reimbursement insurance that I am allowed as a consumer. We have used lots of movers in the last 3 years and never had great experiences. This was different. We were extremely pleased with Jayson and Jim S. our moving crew who met us at the storage facility in Big Bear Lake. They loaded our 10X30 unit in 1 1/2 hrs, drove to Brawley and unloaded in another storage unit 1 1/2 hrs. These men were polite, fast and happy to open boxes for us to see what was in them. *BEWARE of this business! We used this company to move us from CA to TX and the experience was something like a nightmare! The customer service, communication, and follow through was deplorable. We originally had James (owner) come out to provide a quote and within a week we made a decision to go with this company based upon the reviews online (which I'm starting to think were from the employees/friends/family) and pricing. We were advised during our in-home quote that they provided binding quotes. Once we made the decision to go with this company, we were passed to their coordinator Rachelle to plan the details of the move. We wanted to ensure our stuff got to TX at the same time that we arrived so we elected to have our own truck instead of sharing a truck with other movers since they couldn't commit to a reasonable delivery timeline. They were going to move our 3bd/2ba home and one of our cars for us and we decided to take advantage of their packing services as well, which I advised I would only need a couple hours. All was good until a few days before our scheduled move when I received a call from Rachelle that the truck they were going to use for us was stuck in WA with another customer and they'd have to use a smaller truck, which wouldn't fit our car (strike #1) - I was really upset about this because now we had to drive 2 cars from CA to TX with our 2 kids, dog, and tortoise. I asked if it would fit all the rest of our stuff and was advised that it should. When the packers showed up the next day, I asked the same and he advised that it should all fit. We were sent more packers that agreed upon and the price was automatically increased, which I didn't appreciate without prior communication.. They also offered packing materials and boxes for free (in writing) if we paid in cash and decided to try and charge us full price. After complaining, they dropped it to half the price (strike #2). The packing experience was ok - they had no organization and packed stuff that should have never been packed like a potato, nearly empty bag of chips, just everything in sight - plus stuff I put to the side to take on our road trip. Rachelle also tried to get us to let the packers load the truck 3 days in advance of our move and I declined as that would have been a huge inconvenience for us. There were 4 items that originally I was going to sell but decided to see if it could make the move with us, I asked the packer about taking 2 dressers, a crib, and kid bed (crib and bed broke down to flat pieces and railing) - they called the office and reported back to me that it should be ok for them to take with the rest of our stuff. Two days later the truck arrived to load our stuff and the short of it is at the end all of our stuff did not fit and we were left to figure out what to do with everything as we were leaving for TX the next morning. I was extremely frustrated as I feel the packer should of advised us at least half-way of the packing process that everything wouldn't make it and then we could have prioritized what was most important to us that we wanted to make the move. Instead we were left with all our patio furniture, important items in the garage, and much more than we expected. We had to give away, donate, and throw away a bunch of stuff that we didn't want to or expect to at the last minute which was very stressful. (strike #3) The next morning we started our road trip to TX, on our last day of the trip I receive a call from Rachelle that the truck was overweight and they needed to drop 3000lbs off the truck, which would arrive possible a month later and cost us more money. At this point I was infuriated that they waited 3 days later to let us know they had to take a good chunk of our stuff off the truck (what??!!). Due to the character limitation, I'll just say it ended with us paying additional money to get the rest of our stuff to TX, and several pieces of furniture were damaged in the move and they are not honoring their insurance and paying us the money owed for the damages! *DO NOT TRUST THIS SHADY BUSINESS! read more

The last leg of our move is complete. It's official, Big Bear Moving and Storage is my favorite moving company ... and I've moved many times. The entire staff could not be more courteous, kind and efficient. They handled my account like it was their priority. Mine was a three stag process. When I moved, my belongings were placed in their storage facility until I was able to purchase a home. Once I purchased a home, all I had to do was make one call to Richelle and she handled everything so that my belongings would arrive only a couple days after I closed on the house. I couldn't believe when an 18 wheeler arrived at my door Saturday morning right on time. Dave and Jason moved that truck around as if they were parallel parking a smart car. Their skills behind the wheel were amazing!!! Speaking of skills, they stacked my boxes and other "stuff" in my outside storage like a game of Tetrus with room to spare. Quite an accomplishment. Everything that was needed inside my house was carefully set into the places I requested. These men were patient, kind, accommodating and really cared about handling our furniture and personal items carefully. We're really grateful to them for their hard work and cheerful dispositions during our move. We're grateful for all the help, attention and kindness of the entire staff at Big Bear Moving and Storage. I would not hesitate to use them again, I just hope I don't have to! :) read more

I would have given this company a much higher rating had they not been dishonest and shown a lack of integrity at the end. In the course of loading my furniture they dropped the dresser and broke 2 legs which I saw happen. Typically not a problem, that's why there is insurance, to cover accidents. I waited to see if they would say anything and at the end when they had moved my furniture in, the dresser was sitting on the floor with all 4 legs removed. The lead mover asked me to sign a form that all the furniture was off the truck and when I asked him where the legs for the dresser were he gave me a blank stare. When I told him I saw the dresser dropped and he was there when it happened he still denied he was aware of the situation. He said he would go double check and low and behold, he came back holding 4 legs, 2 which were broken. I asked about a claim form and he told me I had to call the office, he didn't have one. I wrote a letter to management and filled out a claim form and not a word. If they acted in this manor with a minor incident, I would hate to see what would happen with a major claim. If employees don't have integrity and can't be honest in a business where they are entrusted with moving a person's possessions, they shouldn't be in business. The fact I have not heard one word from management tells me it's more than just the employees, it's in the culture of the business. read more

This was the worst moving experience I've ever been through. And I've moved a lot including a cross country move. First, we hired packing services as well as moving services and I will never hire packers again after this. This was supposed to be a Sunday and Monday move with 4 men and two trucks. They show up on Sunday with 2 men and 1 truck, take a look around the house and say NOPE! We can't do anything with only two men and left. No work done. Then they come back Monday to start packing with four guys. That day was originally scheduled for moving my stuff to the new house. Then they need another day to pack so they come back Tuesday to do that. I didn't get my stuff until Wednesday. Two days later than original plans and this also got my bf in trouble with work since he had to take additional days off unexpectedly. One top of the delays, we were given an estimate of around $4000, but it ended up costing us closer to 10k. Over DOUBLE the initial estimate. Also, one item was stolen from me. When I let the company know, they didn't even care enough to ask what was stolen, we got a response of "In 68yrs we've never had a theft!!" OK, I guess I'm lying then? That item that was clearly there just grew legs and walked out? Whatever, my fault I guess for leaving something valuable out on a table. The company also made additional charges to my credit card without my approval and when they called to tell me they made an additional charge, the lady couldn't even tell me the amount they JUST charged. In the end, they had to refund me over $1500 because they also OVERCHARGED me. The guys moving us were angry with us because we dared to call them out on the theft. They didn't even want to be there anymore and it showed in their attitude. Of course the thief didn't admit to it, I'm sure it would've cost him his job if he had but it's not our fault they kept messing everything up with our move. They also broke several items, including two items that are so expensive and/or rare, that I can't replace them. For example, a rare statue I had that was boxed up, and had tons of heavy stuff put on top of it to fill the box. It would cost me $1400 to replace it. A total loss. Also, they tried and failed to move my Ogarden. A very pricey hydroponic garden. We ended up moving it ourselves because they claimed they couldn't, only when we set it up at the new place, it started making a horrible noise. Took it apart to fix it, only to find not one, but TWO screwdrivers INSIDE the machine. Clearly they tried to take it apart to move it, failed, and rather than let us know, they just left it like that. Lots of other little things were also broken but I don't care about those things nearly as much. Please do yourself a favor, and stay away from this moving company. read more

I was very happy with Big Bear Moving when they helped me move a few weeks ago on November the 5th (and I apologize for the delay in my review). From the time I first called in October, Dave and the woman who often answered, were always very nice and reassuring. In fact, Dave called me early on the first scheduled move to reschedule due to the fires, wanting his men and myself to be safe from the toxic air. So, the following week, Nathaniel and Robert helped me move from Big Bear to Orange County. It was very tight quarters in the small house: lots of boxes, bags, and an upright piano. They were very patient and handled all my belongings with the utmost of care. In fact, I have had my piano since '88, and, in all of my many moves, I have never seen anyone handle my piano with such care, and as swiftly, as Robert and Nathaniel did. And, when I met them at my new place, about 3 hours later, everything went just as smoothly, Robert literally rolling out the red carpet, to protect my recently-cleaned carpet. I was sooo happy and pleased with this company, the men who helped me, and the truck was huge, and so well-equipped with blankets, etc. (as they wrapped my pictures with such care). Also, they both had great personalities: comforting, and a sense of humor brought light to the stress and pain of moving...making it waaay easier. Just an outstanding experience with Big Big Movers. We moved to a house in Crestline with A LOT of stairs, and their guys made quick work of it. Michael and Caesar with polite, very friendly and the very definition of hard workers. I plan to use the same company when I move a baby grand piano as well. We selected this company for our move because of the earlier positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was not the same as others have experienced and we would not recommend this company. The day started off on the wrong foot with the movers showing up about an hour late. We weren't upset, things happen, but that wasn't the worst of it. There were two guys, one who appeared to be experienced and one who was definitely not. It seemed as though the inexperienced one maybe was a fill-in or new, which was a problem because it definitely slowed things down...a lot. So slow, in fact, that we stepped in to have them hand us boxes off the truck to speed up unloading and we reassembled our furniture (such as the beds) ourselves. To be clear, we were all packed and we had previously moved all of our boxes down to the first floor at our old house in hopes that it would make for an efficient move, but it did not. The only items we left behind on the second floor were two bedroom sets. Our move was only a mile away and we had also planned to have them move our storage unit which was two miles away. Since it was already dark when they were still unloading the truck, we decided to move the storage unit ourselves on another day. After everything was moved, we inspected the furniture and most of it was okay minus a few minor dings and scratches, which we were understanding of and never even mentioned, but the refrigerator was a different story. We have a four door stainless steel refrigerator that we have kept in immaculate condition. Anyone who owns stainless steel appliances knows how difficult that is to do; however, there are now rub marks and scratches on every door. Super odd ones on the top, a mark across the front from their strap, and a scratch across the bottom freezer door. We advised the movers of this before paying and since the office was already closed, they made a note on the paperwork and said that the office would call us the next morning to file a claim since they have an insurance policy to cover it. The office never called, so we called them. They provided the form, told us to fill it out and submit it to the company, and we would hear back in 60 days. We recently heard back from them and... stainless steel items are excluded from their insurance policy. So, not only did I overpay for moving, but now I have a damaged refrigerator. Certainly not the experience we had hoped for and we are hoping that ours is not like anyone else's. But, just as a heads up, if you use them, don't waste your time submitting a claim for a stainless steel item, should one become damaged. read more

Absolutely stay away!! Do not use this company. We booked our move a month in advance and were cancelled on the day of the move due to mechanical issues. I understand things happen; however, a business who is responsible for moving which people plan MANY things around, should have a contingency plan in place in case one of their trucks has mechanical issues. We had to take additional time off from work, extend the move date from our old house which cause multiple re-bookings of other services, and then the movers were two hours late on the re-scheduled day. (The two movers were good and were the only positive experience.) This move ended up costing us over a $1000 more in additional costs due to their same day cancellation. We requested to be charged the minimum rate and not be charged for the additional hour and a half and we were told it was not their fault and that we should have called another moving company the day they cancelled. (I did but it is almost impossible to get a move scheduled the same day.) We asked multiple times for the owner to call us, which he/she did not. At no point were we rude to the staff hoping they would make the situation right. The office/management staff is incredibly unprofessional, rude, condescending, and do not care about customer service. read more

Having had two other moves in the last year and a half I have to say that this was THE BEST experience we have had. Mike Jr and Ronnie were both extremely professional, hard working and easy to work with. They did everything and took excellent care of our belongings, including a lot of fragile stuff, like a grandfather clock and crystal. They were fast, but careful and loaded the truck extremely well for the trip. The unloading went fast and they did all the set up and 'adjusted' all of the furniture to suit.
