We live in the Palm Springs area and their cabins serve as the perfect place away from home to beat the desert heat in July - August went up a few weeks before our stay and worked with Jackie who was happy to show us several cabins Our family stayed in the Dorset Cabin August 3rd to September 2nd the place was cozy with enough space for everyone. Place had lots of charm / character It was on the most quiet street, and our entire time peaceful/relaxing etc Grocery stores are nearby and everyone in town is super friendly Everything you need, even games, DVDs, WIFI basketball court for the kids the kids spent some time at the lodge near the water, they seemed to have a fun time swimming at the pool-jacuzzi, and getting sun by the lake. Cable went out one morning and they had maintenance up @ our cabin within the hour, friendly people there. All of our experiences with Big Bear Vacations have been pleasant Will be back next summer. Do NOT book through this company. The cabins are not as clean or nice as they appear in on the pictures online. We chose our cabin specifically because of the jacuzzi..(which an employee helped me pick out) but come to find out upon our arrival the spa doesn't even work. Everything from our contract to our check-in details was all digital and convenient. Big Bear Vacations even offers a texting option to communicate with their front desk which is great when you don't feel like dealing with a phone call or stopping what you are doing to talk with someone, and they respond quickly. It's helpful when the phones are busy so you don't have to wait on hold as well. Beautiful office and lots of options for booking. All the information we needed to know about the home or what was supplied in the property was all provided to us before our day of check-in. Definitely recommend paying attention to the supplies list so you know what to expect and can plan ahead. read more

I booked a cabin at Mishka's place. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the place, especially with COVID 19. The floors were not mopped and there was trash under the bunk beds. In addition, there were other issues: Hot tub would only stay hot for about an hour and the jets were weak. They said that they would send someone to look at the hot tub, but no one ever showed up. There were TVs all over the place without a connection to content so they were pretty much useless and the one TV that was connected to a cable box only caught shopping channels. This place is huge but definitely rough around the edges. Not sure about their description of "Big Bear Vacation's newly enhanced commitment to provide thorough and professional cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection of all homes for the 2020 season and beyond!" When I called the front desk they were very apologetic and said management would contact us shortly. Management never called me back and it has been 3 days thus far. read more

good customer service, but this review is for Angel View Chalet #885. Not cleaned well and in need of updates. Half bath toilet overflowed on first use. Full bath upstairs toilet doesn't flush properly, must lift up tank top and rehook chain every time, staff tried to fix it, but no help. Refridgerator stopped working in kitchen, had to use fridge in garage downstairs after someone came out and said it could not be fixed. We ended up throwing away a lot of food when we left because fridge was too warm for too long. No pot holders or kitchen towels provided. No sheet pans. Too few towels provided for number of guests. They did send out repairmen two times for toilet and fridge in a timely manner, but sad to see this lovely home not up to par. someone needs to go in and check to see that everything promised is stocked and that everything is in working order. Again, Big Bear Vacation was very nice and responsive, but very disappointed in this home. We rented it 3 years ago and loved it, now needs some TLC. read more

Disappointing. The cabin wasn't that clean. When we opened the futon there were crumbs and long blonde hair. But worse than that. The heater didn't work properly. Called maintenance twice. Considered calling a third time but we were just over it. Decided to just double up on our socks because you'll feel the cold coming from the floor and wore our sweatshirts to sleep. Each time maintenance came the heater only stayed on 30 minutes tops. If you want to be comfortable during your stay....during fall and winter, you've been warned. read more

Last time i ever book with Big Bear Vacations!!! I booked the cabin the day of my sons birthday my check in was at 4pm and my cabin was not ready until 6pm. We were waiting on the car for more than 2 hours. Julie from the booking office was really rude calling my Family 'Your people' she had no customer service at all. Destiny was really nice and allowed me to check out at noon, Julie should learn from her. I saw the house when housekeeping was there cleaning and the covers were not changed only the sheets which were all stained ( Take your own covers, it was disgusting) there was ants all over when we got to the cabin and there was spiderwebs all over the inside ceiling and all over the outside surroundings, the house was not cleaned right. They charged $180 for cleaning and it was really poorly done. Carpets were not vacuumed right, there was no AC and we couldn't open the windows because there was missing screens. The freezer was not working right, sofa bed was broken and the pillows on the sofa bed were chewed up ( looked like rat bites). Some plates were chipped. The only good thing was the upgraded kitchen. It was such a bad experience overall. I have never rented a cabin as dirty as this one. read more

PROPERTY FALSELY ADVERTISED, NEGLECTED, INFESTED WITH ANTS - AND COMPLETE DENIAL BY BIG BEAR VACATIONS: We rented 222 Knoll Road (aka Birchwood Knoll #1119) to accommodate two families (four adults and five teenagers) for four nights/three full days over the July 4th holiday. Big Bear Vacations says that they are "in the vacation business, and for us that means making people happy." Big Bear Vacations did not make us happy on this $2500+ 4 night trip. Many of the key reasons we chose to rent Birchwood Knoll #1119 on bigbearvacations.com were either not accurate, in poor condition or just false. * Advertised: "2 Master Suites with Private Baths" Reality: Only 1 Master Suite and 1 King Bedroom with Hall Bath that opens to foosball area - not a "Suite" and not "Private" * Advertised "Clean" Reality: Not Clean Full of cobwebs and dust. Dried vomit -back deck. Dirty linens - King closet (no mattress pad on the bed) Ant infested - kitchen, sectional couch, master bath/bed, down bath * Advertised "fully stocked kitchen" (house sleeps 10) Reality: house sleeps 10 but not enough flatware for 9. * Advertised: "game room with pool table, electronic dart board, and foosball table." Reality: not all in working order Foosball table red defense rod jams and the ball drops to the floor in goal. ("Broken Do Not Use" written directly on the underside of the foosball table.) Need more darts (electronic tips missing from many) * Advertised: Working TVs in all bedrooms + Great Room Reality: at least 2 not working right King room cable box "not authorized for use" even after reboot. Great Room TV doesn't stay on one channel...external input switch box changes input randomly when watching, and especially when scrolling through guide (happens every 10-20 seconds) requiring user to manually push the cable input button every time. Some of the other maintenance issues: Queen bed under the loft broken Leak under kitchen sink Oven not heating right Front left stove burner doesn't light. Coffee maker needs descaling We called the office within 2 hours of our arrival, then stopped by the office the next morning. The housekeeping manager was not available to come inspect our unit until after 1pm on the 3rd day of our trip - more than halfway through - due to the busy holiday. Our cleaning fee was refunded, we were offered 20% off a future stay, and they offered to move us, which we declined because we had already invested hours of our time dusting, cleaning and attempting to control the ants (the maintenance person showed up on the first night and handed us Raid and 409 and said "everyone has ants") and we only had one full day left of our vacation. BBV staff members were busy (they told us so), and we made several attempts to convey all the issues with this house via phone, in person and via email in the hopes that they would understand the extent of the problems, resolve them to our satisfaction and when they couldn't resolve satisfactorily, compensate us as fairly. At check-out we tried one more time to get Big Bear Vacations to understand the full extent of the problems we faced with the rental experience in a meeting with the Sales Manager, and the Housekeeping Manager. After that meeting, they sent us an email accusing us of making false claims, and have yet to address the false advertising on their rental site. This house has great potential, and with some attention by the management company could be a great rental. These are not expensive fixes, but would have made a world of difference to us had they been done prior to our arrival. Big Bear Vacations did not deliver what they sold us, and we deserve at least a night refunded to compensate for the time we lost dealing with the issues. That doesn't even cover the false advertising, but at least we'd be happier. We hope they take the actions needed to fix the problems, immediately to correct the misinformation in the online listing, to improve their pre-guest-arrival procedures, and that they will reevaluate their policies when things aren't right, and instead of trying to move renters to vacant units, resolve the problems quickly. Big Bear Vacations could have easily prevented all the problems with Birchwood Knoll 1119 had they paid closer attention to the home prior to our arrival. read more

Classic cabin stay in a stand alone cabin with neighbors far apart so that i didn't hear them and could mostly see only trees. I'm talking multiple cabins could be between mine and the neighbors are left I was nothing on the right or behind. Full kitchen everything working throughout the whole house classic old heaters nothing fancy nothing too modern just peacefully like it was and as I remember it when I was a child. I didn't stay here of course as a child but wherever my parents took my sister and I there was a certain feeling the cabins had and this certainly had just that, it brought back really good memories and with everything working properly and everything clean nothing took away from my good stream of thoughts, I will definitely come again. read more

I really have 2 different reviews. I have a thumbs down review of the cabin, Trey's Escape, and a thumbs up review of Big Bear Vacations. The cabin was spacious and yet very old and falling apart. By looking at the pictures online we knew we weren't getting a new place, however we did expect the place to be clean with everything in working order. This was definitely not the case with Trey's Escape. Upon calling the front desk at Big Bear Vacations we spoke to some very nice and understanding ladies, and they sent a handyman over right away to fix the broken bed, the broken doors, put a knob on a cabinet, and he even brought plexiglass to cover the exposed lighting in the kitchen. He also brought a roll of paper towels and toilet paper, which should've been in there in the first place. We are grateful for Big Bear Vacations for stepping up to take care of some of the problems. It was unfortunate however, that we lost our only full day in the cabin alone, as the handyman was there 3 different times (Chris was awesome, by the way), but that's not how we wanted to spend our vacation. We booked this cabin through VRBO, as we had an amazing house and experience with them in Lake Arrowhead in the past. We were hoping this place would at least be clean and have the basics, and unfortunately that was not the case. Lastly, the cost of this particular cabin, with all the fees, was absolutely absurd and should be re-evaluated for the future. (The place we stayed in in Lake Arrowhead was comparable in price but excelled in every way!) I do want to thank Big Bear Vacations for trying to make it right with us. We look forward to staying with them again, just in a different cabin/house. read more

We had a great stay in Big Bear! We stayed in Cabin 1593. Our cabin was inexpensive and we knew it was going to be small. That being said we were pleasantly surprised. It was bigger on the inside than it appeared. It was clean, cute, and everything worked. The internet was easy to hook up to. They even had a Bluetooth speaker to hook up to. Kitchen had everything to cook anything you brought with. If you are going to Big Bear to sit in a cabin all day and you have the money, get something bigger than this cabin but for us, this was a nice little home to come back to after enjoying everything there is to do in Big Bear. The best part of the whole experience was the staff at Big Bear Vacations. Everyone was so super nice. We dealt with three different people at three different times and all of them were so helpful. I am a travel agent & booked a client a vacation rental thru big Bear Vacations. Big Bear Vacations state they pay commission to Travel Agents, however I still have NOT been paid. I have called & emailed them several times & have not gotten a response. This is extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. Needless to say I won't be using them again. Nor will any of my friends, associates or co-travel agents. There are several other companies to use to book vacation properties in Big Bear so I suggest you try another one of those companies. The staff at check in were easy to work with, and friendly but the unit itself was really disgusting (and we've rented a lot of VRBO type places). It clearly wasn't cleaned or maintained. A few of the many issues we had: -we found several shards of glass on the kitchen floor -the internet did not work at all -the mattress was extremely uncomfortable making it difficult to sleep (it was sagging in different spots--very old) -the TV only sometimes worked--it had a loose cable connection, so it regularly went fuzzy or broke-up and the hanging cable made the mount shift so the whole thing was crooked. I was mainly disappointed because I emailed Big Bear Vacations about this right after our trip (they sent a how was your trip email) and they never responded. We're planning another trip to Big Bear and will not use Big Bear Vacations. read more

They pulled a bait and switch 30 minutes before we arrive to check in. The house we paid for "was not cleaned" and they forced two other options we did not want, but had to take or drive 3 hours back home. Then we arrive at the rental they gave us to find 4 feet of packed snow blocking the driveway. Cant park in the street because that is illegal during snowy conditions. So had to wait an hour for snow plow to come clear driveway. Literally use any other company but Big Bear Vacations. read more

I thought the reviews of this company can't possibly be right. Unfortunately, they are. I recently stayed at 1573 - All About the Views. I understand the snowfall was record breaking, but for over $1300 a night before taxes I would expect much better. 1) I was told prior to arriving that I would need to shovel the driveway. No big deal I thought, I just got back from Iowa and was shoveling there for a week. The snow was so deep our cars got stuck trying to pull into the driveway. It took 3 of us 2 hours to clear the driveway so we could park. No one bothered to try to clear the driveway before our arrival. The unit across the street was ready for their tenant...I should have asked who they rented from. Oh..and thanks for coming to shovel the next day after we had already done the work. 2) The hot tub was green and disgusting. It took multiple calls to get it fixed. It was basically usable at bedtime on our last day, so we did not use it. Again..I want to reiterate we paid a lot of money to stay here and all we got was disappointment read more

Renter beware!! Do not use. You will get sick! Worst lodging place. My family stayed here. A total of 6 people in the cabin. We rented the cabin for 3 nights. We drank the filtered water from the refrigerator since it says it was filtered. On the last night, all 6 of us got sick. We all threw up and had diarrhea. For me and my wife, we alternate visiting the restroom every hour the whole night. We stayed in the cabin on the last day to rest and we lost one day of activity. We asked for some sort of accommodation and they refused. Our next move will be to report this to the health department. We are tired of arguing with the cabin rental. read more

We booked a cabin through them a month in advance for our annual getaway. So we go to check in at the property management and expect to have the kayak passes offered to us for booking with them but we got the keys and no kayak passes. So I let that go since I do not feel I need to remind them of their own promotions. We then drive to the cabin and unload our luggage and open the door where we are immediately met with a musty odor. We figure it is because maybe it had been closed up for a while. So we proceed to clean it up somewhat with Lysol wipes, lysol, etc. The wipes after we cleaned the surfaces were filthy. Which left us to wonder what is the cleaning deposit for that one pays for when renting these cabins?? Anyhow my children and I take our luggage to the rooms while my wife stays in the kitchen. While she was in the kitchen a light fixture falls from the fluorescent light and hits her on top of the head. Strange at the very least. So we relax and play some games of air hockey as day turns to night we go to turn the lights on and realize only half of them work and the other half are burned out. We also noticed several black widows throughout the interior of the home. So we retire for the evening and head to our rooms..we notice that the bedding is dirty and made for a very unpleasant experience. Needless to say we didn't sleep very well thinking about the spiders and dirty linen. We were slated to stay 2 nights but left after 1. We told the management office of the issues we experienced and were assured someone would contact us to make things right. It never happened. So I feel that this spot essentially hustled me out of $500+ dollars. read more

We stayed there this past weekend and although we have been going up to big bear for many years, this is the first time we used Big Bear Vacations. The gentleman in the office (forgot his name) was very polite and professional and checked us in in under 10 minutes and after driving 5 hours in traffic, that was a big bonus! We stayed at 1483-Lakeview Forest and we loved it!! The location was perfect...walking distance to the village, the place was clean and had all the amenities we needed. We made sure to read the contract to see what extras we would need to bring but other than paper towels and toilet paper everything was covered .... We will definitely stay there again!! My family and I planned a Winter getaway for my elderly parents and what started as a terrible experience turned out to be the most wonderful and memorable experience we've ever had in Big Bear thanks to Manager Kim. We had reserved a Cabin close to the resorts which was suitable for the elderly. After checking in we were sent to a remote Location 6 miles from the resorts and with over 20 steps, which made it virtually impossible for my parents to access. We were so disappointed in the accommodations and it was so late in the day that we could not have the issue addressed. The next morning we went to speak to the Manager Kim. What we witnessed frankly left us speechless. Kim took full responsibility, listened patiently to what had transpired and immediately took steps to have us moved to a cabin within walking distance of the resorts, fully accessible to the elderly. Her level of professionalism and customer service was absolutely incredible. We had a terrific experience and can't wait to go to Big Bear again. Thank you Big Bear vacations and Kim. read more

We had a family of 10 people for the labor day weekend staying with big bear vacations. We have booked Finch chalet cabin near the lake but the previous guest had damaged the property so it was not pleasant for us to stay their so we had the contacted the office and Man you would not believe how they took care of the matter. They came down and checked out the property and instantly told us that we will be accommodated will different property and gave us upgrade on property. The property was beyond gorgeous,and kitchen and bathrooms were super clean and well managed. They​ made sure our expectasions were met. And I would highly recommend Big Bear Vacations. We had a great experience with this rental company. The renting process was easy and they also gave us free bicycle/kayak rental and admission to petting zoo. I was able to get a hold of the front desk anytime I called and all the employees were very friendly. Overall, it was a great experience. We stayed at the Ghabrial's place. It was so clean and relaxing after a long of exploring Big Bear. The management was very friendly, professional and efficient. We rented a cabin through this property rental agency. We were able to get an early check in which was a great relief to us. We had planned on walking around Big Bear Village for a few hours, however it was raining and the temperature was in the 40's. There office is beautiful and the staff extremely friendly. They gave us free goodies which included chapstick(which we used), cooking spices, water bottles and treats for our dog. The check in process took less than 5 minutes and we had our keys. The cabin was as advertised and we had a lovely relaxing weekend. The outdoor spa was wonderful and we used it every night. We called the morning of departure and we able to get a late checkout without charge. Thanks Big Bear vacations, we had an amazing time. read more

NONE OF THEM ARE GOOD. Big Bear Vacations is the worst management company I have ever dealt with. By the way, Big Bear Vacations still has $300 of our reserve account money!!!! They did not refund that when we terminated our contract. Thank goodness I caught the error on a statement we erroneously received!! Unbelievable lack of attention to detail.
