we rented lake-shore 012. we were told it was right on the water (it wasn't) there was dirty linen in a ball in the cabinet, ants, dead fish guts in a jinky fridge out back, nonworking spa, 4 bedroom house, but two were outside downstairs in a dark basement with no heat. the furniture was not nice, dirty... since it was my husbands 40th birthday and had relatives and friends joining us with children this just didn't work. the first girl we called to ask about moving was not very friendly, she said she had been to that home and it was just fine. maybe if you are going up to the lake with college buddies for a weekend bender, but certainly not for a family. we upgraded from a 3 star to 5 star "water view " property. it was amazing!!! the home was clean, beautifully furnished, spa worked but wasn't 100%. there was some trash in the back and side yard that we picked up ourselves and the trip to the dock is not easy and a slip hazard. the dock walk way is underwater on a portion of it and there is this slippery white slim that you should watch out for. the house next to this one is gross and there were a million young people partying while we were there so i would check that before renting this property for a relaxing weekend. read more

This was one of my nicest stay at home vactions. I live in Big Bear and me and my closest friend decided to rent a cabin. We rented cabin 100 at Shore acres lodge. And it was simply wonderful. The cabin was huge and well furnished, and all the appliances worked wonderfully. And it had a lovely view of the lake. All in all it was a wonderful stay and I'd happily do it again. Checked in on a Late Friday afternoon only to find Cabin 379 Bear Claw Bungalow with no cable nor WiFi available! Jacuzzi light was not working! Smoke detector in bedroom hanging from ceiling! Back bathroom shower curtain full of mold, also ceiling had mold! They offered to place us in different cabin around 7:30 at night! The cabin they moved us in was offered to us at 3:00 pm the next day, only to find out they needed to clean it first! Cabin 012 Lake Shore! Cabin was supposedly cleaned at 5:30 finally after hanging around patiently with a 5yrs old in the rain! Front doors were boarded up with pieces of cardboard and blood still on door, glass pieces around floor of the front door! Sliding back door lock was not working, jacuzzi did not heat, broken glass bottles in back yard! Offered a 71.07 refund and 20% off next visit! There will be no next visit! read more

So I normally only write reviews for a really great experience or really bad..sadly this placed in the second category. Recently, my husband, baby and other family members rented a cabin on the lake( lakeshore #12). Going in with an open mind I was okay with the outdated interior/exterior. What I was not okay with was how DIRTY the place was. It wasn't a little dust or anything that could have been easily overlooked. This was bathroom tubs being dirty, dirty laundry still in the washing machine, ceiling fans with 2+ years of dust collecting, ovens that didn't open and let's not mention the floor that was obviously not vacuumed any time recently. The real boiling point was on our first night there while cooking dinner using the oven, we found a whole pan of bacon grease just sitting in the oven almost causing a fire. The fridge did not work well and failed to keep food cold. Luke warm is a better description. Another thing to note, though this cabin does sleep 8, beware that 4 sleeping spots are in one room(bunk beds). This cabin sits next door to a bunch of smaller cabins and those have a tendency of getting loud through out the night. Also, the water was extremely hot or extremely cold. Good luck trying to get a nice median or bathing a child. Overall after expressing our displeasure about the stove incident,management did not seem to concerned. Knowing what I know now, we do not recommend this property or company and will definitely be looking to utilize another company for our Big Bear needs. read more

We arrived at the snuggle down cottage #1544 and the place was full of dog hair everywhere on the couches chairs table bed comforters pillows the trash in the bathroom was not emptied and there was still food in the fridge this place was defiantly not cleaned before we got here when I called the front desk to let them know they said all they can do is send someone to come vacuum but they couldn't guarantee they can get rid of all that hair even though it says there is no pets allowed in this cabin!! so I asked for a refund or a new cabin and they said they couldn't do either one they did send Someone out to vacuum which wasn't even there cleaning crew just someone from the office but it didn't help much he couldn't even believe how bad it was he offered to go buy us new comforters we had to re vacuum everything and go buy cleaning supplies so we could do it ourself since they wouldn't refund our money read more

If you can ever reach them, you are lucky. I too purchased a groupon, and i waited on the phone for well over an hour, but i figured, they were busy with the groupon people calling...... i set the phone on speaker and went on with my work.... finally, i booked the dates, and gave them my credit card- that was charged right then for a reservation 3 months in advance for "cleaning"... i have been trying to change this reservation since February....... no go. No answer to the emails, and never on the phone. This is crazy..... Groupon is wonderful. I called them, they are giving me a credit for my Groupon fee, and since they can't bother to return my calls, i'll cancel the charge with my visa. I'm actually glad, had i made it up there with my mom and kids shoveling snow and no heat would not be a nice vacation. read more

We got screwed by this company. I had friends flying in from Hawaii to come stay in Big Bear. There were a total of 4 couples plus 3 small children. First I called to see if we could get early check in. I was told we could check in at 3. NOPE! The couple that arrived early with their two young children were told to come back at 4. They went back to the main office at 4 and were told the room still wasn't ready. Another one of the couples was given the address by the couple waiting for the keys, so they decided to head over to the location. They started unloading the wood and some guy opens the front door and says "what are you doing here?". The couple said we are staying here for the weekend. He said "oh shoot, no one told me you were coming." They walked in and the place was a disaster. Obviously the guy was sleeping there. There was cigarette smoke in the rooms, bottles of alcohol, all the beds were a mess, kitchen a disaster. They called customer service (CS) to tell them about the guy and they said they had prior complaints about him sleeping on the job. They were told a cleaning crew would be there to get the place cleaned for us. It was obvious is was going to take longer than a few hours to get this place cleaned. They went back after a couple hours and there was no cleaning crew, just the same guy doing a horrible job and trying to clean up the place. We had all our cars full of food plus the young children. (CS) told the couples "don't you have errands to run." CS offered a smaller place to us that did not have enough bedrooms or a jacuzzi like we wanted. They didn't even offer us a computer to use in the main lobby to try and find something else. We were able to secure a better place from a better company that didn't leave us waiting in the cold parking lot for 4 hours. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL FROM MANAGEMENT TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE TROUBLE. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID NOT YELP THIS COMPANY. IF I HAD READ THE REST OF THE HORRIBLE REVIEWS THEY HAVE RECEIVED I WOULD NOT HAVE BOOKED WITH THIS COMPANY. DO YOURSELF AND FAVOR AND DO NOT RENT FROM BIG BEAR VACATIONS. Awful! Stayed at Beary Sweet Retreat #1257 on 12/27/13 for two days. The place was old and filthy. The bathrooms were moldy and gross. The carpet was black with dirt. The kitchen utensils were from my grandparents era. There is no WiFi. Motel 6 called and wants their crappy furniture back. The linen service is from the military. Never felt anything so rough. Shame on the managment company for renting this unit as it is. And the price $600/night. Never again. Never again. read more

Let me start by saying we got charged $100 in tax and cleaning fee, BUT WE have to clean the cabin, wash the dishes/pots, and take out the trash (trash site is 2.8 miles away). We walked into the cabin and found a toenail in the rug (why am i paying cleaning fee if you don't clean!). The couch in our room is ripped. We booked two rooms and there's a door in the middle and they couldn't open it because they didn't have the key, we had to keep going out into the cold to get from room to room. The room is for 4 people and it only has three plates to eat on. The second room we booked didn't have any utensils. The top bunk on the bunk bed is missing a piece of wood under the mattress so when my friend was on it, the bed sunk and she almost fell off the top bunk but ended up hurting her rib on the railing. The remote in the second room didn't have batteries, we had to share a remote between both rooms. They also didn't give us the code to get into the second room, when we called front desk they didn't answer the first time and the second time we were on the phone for thirty minutes. There was also hairs in the fridge (again, why am i paying cleaning fee). They don't have paper towels in the rooms. We also had to drive miles away from our actual rooms to check in, there are no workers on site. The ripped "pull out couch" has no space in the room for it to actually pull out. When you check in, they make you sign like a 20 page contract. read more

I am giving them 2 stars for the reason that their customer service was very unpleasant.. Check in representative was very helpful. Once we arrive to the rental property number 1057 it was a disaster.. The agreement was for 6 vehicles in the driveway. No street parking was allowed due to snowplowing.. The property driveway was full of snow it wasnt accesible for no vehicle. Also there was a truck left by the previous guest in the driveway blocking everything. I called the reception in regards to this matter and they couldnt do anything about it. They advise me to call code enforcement, code enforcement advise me to call the sheriff to get the vehicle towed, i called the sheriff and they told me to call the towing company and the towing company couldnt do anything with out a police order... I was on the phone dealing with all this havoc the first day we arrived. As it gets worst my guest were trying to take a warm shower and the water was very cold, i called the reception to inform them and they told me they will send a maintainence guy over. After waiting several hours he arrived and turned on the water heater... Monday same thing happen cold water and after several hours they restarted the heater again.. Tuesday morning after the snowstorm passed by our vehicles were stuck in 5ft of snow making it difficult for us to leave so i called the reception to see if they can send someone to clean the street and take us out and one of the reps was very unethical and un professional said "well sir there's a shovel in every property i encourage you to start shoveling i shoveled my car out this morning you can do it too"... For a guest to have to go thru all this headaches for a weekend.. Price wise it was very expensive aside from all the other extra money we had to pay to plow some of the driveway and pay to get our vehicles out of the snow... We had a very bad experience with the reps and the property.. I wouldn't recomend it to anybody.. Even worst if you have never experienced being snowed in and having to deal with shoveling the snow this is not for you.... When we checked out we turned in the key, i asked to speak to a supervisor and they just handed me a sheet of paper and advise me to write down the issues ive had and that they will take care of it... I would like to Share with you what I wrote to BBB in regards my experience with Big Bear Vacations...We checked in in person to the Big Bear Vacation Offices at Big Bear. Everything went fine. However while trying to access our "5 star" rental the owner surprised us since he was occupying his own cabin. Long story short he was super nice but he told us that big bear vacations made a mistake by over booking us. We went back to the main office, we waited 5 hrs with our 1 year old daughter, my 8 months pregnant wife and our expected guest, until they finally gave us a cabin. Because of that first situation the acting manager at the moment offered us $100 credit that they were going to reimburse at check out. Since we entered the house late on Friday evening we didn't notice that one of our most expected amenities for the weekend "The out doors Spa" was not working. On Saturday morning we called the property manager Lewis Steward to report the new situation. He tried to find some workers but he called back explaining that the jacuzzi was not going to be fixed until our check out day and because of that he offered an extra credit back of$150 for the non working Jacuzzi(full price of the cabin was $1,600 for 2 nights. It has been almost 6 weeks since then and I have not received my refund. On top of that every time I call the office I have to re explain the whole situation and they respond the same answer by saying "a manager will contact you in about 24hrs". Today I called and a sales representative named Sahara told me that Lewis was on a long vacation. She said she emailed him and that he denied he offered the credit to us. I explained that it does not make any sense even if he forgot, just because the amenity that we paid extra for, didn't work during our stay and that it was obvious that we checked in super late because of their mistake. She replied by saying that "a manger will contact you during the next 24 hrs" but she clearly told me that who ever calls me back was going to give me the same answer. I asked her to please let the manager know that its important to get it right. I would like to get my $$$ refund as promised or after the end of this complaint I will take them to Small claims Court for more than $250. Thanks. Finally 2 weeks after my last email (8 weeks total)they reimburse me the first $100 to my credit card but they send me a gift certificate for $150 instead of the rest of the reimbursement in cash as initially promised. I wont take that GC unfortunately since I requested my cash back as promised plus I don't like their business anymore. Bottom line if something like that happen to you guys get your money back right there or get it in paper. Don't believe any word from those liars they totally know that you are from out of state and they know you wont be able to do anything specially for a couple of hundred dollars. But guess what, if you rented their services from your state via internet, you can still take them to the Small Claims Court in you city since they promote their business nation wide and take your money via internet . They have to follow the rules everywhere. It might only be $100 $200 o $400, at the end they have to do it right. read more

We loved our stay in Big Bear! We stayed at Ghabrial's Lakeview cabin. The cabin was a great size and easily accommodated our group of 10 people. The cabin was easily accessible to town and to many great amenities. The only drawback we experienced was the busy road outside our cabin. The staff at Big Bear rentals was great! Stayed at the Moose Moritz cabin. Sleeps 11 so we had tons of room and wanted for nothing. They even left a freezer full of ice cream!!! The location was central. So close to Snow Summit, the town and getting any supplies needed, walking to restaurants, etc. We had 10 people, all age groups and this was one of the best vacations ever. Pool table, darts, foosball, games, cable (not that we watched much TV) basketball, BBQ. We cooked, we grilled and everything that we needed was there. Our week was perfect!! read more

We stayed in 1863 - Snow Summit Townhome. The unit was represented on the website as having a washer/dryer, 2.5 bathrooms, and streaming TV. It turned out that the condo had none of these amenities. The washer/dryer was in a locked closet that we could not open, the unit in fact has only one shower, and there was no streaming TV at all. The lack of a washer/dryer was a big issue for us, because we had purposely packed light, intending to do laundry in the middle of our stay. After numerous phone calls, and two in-person visits to BBV's offices, the washer/dryer issue was finally rectified (about 12 hours before we checked out). The other two issues were never addressed, other than repeated assurances by various staff members that we would be "compensated" for BBV's misrepresentations about what amenities the unit actually has. Several days after checking out, we still had not heard from BBV about our "compensation," so we e-mailed them. Five days ago. Still nothing but crickets from their end. We won't be renting from them again, and we make several trips to Big Bear every year. read more

Kelly's Cabin #290 Nightmare We arrived to weeds 3-4 feet high. Something in the garbage disposal had died. Opened the windows and doors for 4 hours to air the place out. Blinds were broken. Windows did not have screens. Lamps without lamp shades. Microwave did not work. Pots in the cabinets were greasy. Ants in the kitchen and living room. Front window cracked. Upstairs bedroom had a large hole in the wall. Door to the upstairs bedroom does not close for privacy. Only two drinking glasses for a place that sleeps 8. Couch was shot. When you sat down you sunk below the frame. To uncomfortable to sit on. No blankets for any of the beds. Sewer backed up while in the shower sewage filled the tub. Next day came back from fishing to find the toilet had backed up to raw sewage everywhere. I had not read any reviews prior to booking. Now that I have.... this is not much different from what others experienced. At check out I explained everything that happened. The office staff was very friendly and apologetic and told me someone would be contacting me. I waited to hear back from a manager but did not. Two days and 3 calls to them I did reach one. They gave me a full refund. Now that I'm reading the reviews I can't believe they are not more on top of things. It is clear they have major issues with the properties. I could see a hand full having problems, but review after review is horrible. It's a shame, I would have liked to return to Big Bear in the winter for a weeks stay. read more

It's been TWO WEEKS we can't find anyone who is in charge. We rent the house on a stormy day. It took as about 7 hours to get to Big Bear from LA. We could get get to the house with a 4x4 week drive +chains. We asked them to switch the house on another one, but they said all the houses needs to be cleaned first and now it's too late to ask anybody to come and clean one for us. So they insured us that they will refund the money so we can try to rent through somebody else. Since that day I was calling every other day to see updates on our situation. Last time I was told there is no notes or records of me calling and asking about it, and the only thing they can see is that I checked in and checked out next day. (This is ridiculous!!!) So today I was told manager is very sick and she won't be back for at least a week.... Thank you guys for your immaculate service!!! I WILL GET A REFUND THOUGH MY BANK. Rented a pet friendly, lake front cabin (Lonepine) very close to the lake for fishing. Arrived at the property, only to walk into a strong odor of a gas leak. Notified the check-in desk (which is several miles away mind you) immediately and they promptly sent out a service person. The service person said he too smelled the gas, but did not know what to do and said it was my option if I wanted to move to a different place. Not wanting my family to stay in a gas filled cabin, I called and requested a different cabin preferably in the same complex. They called back a bit later and offered me 3 different properties, none of which were in the complex or even similar to what I had reserved. One was high up the mountain and two others were condos, and only one of those allowed pets. Since we couldn't get another similar cabin, we opted for the pet friendly condo. Had to drive all the way back to the check-in office to get a different key and then drive even further to the new property on Blue Jay. Arrived to the condo and found the front door was piled with leaves, the paint was peeling all over the building. The interior door jam had been previously kicked in and nailed back up and painted. One bathroom shower didn't work at all and the master bath had brown crud in the shower rails. The rugs were dirty and many of Venetian blinds were broken off and either laying on the floor or piled in one of the bedroom closets. The lack of blinds allowed for the exterior lights the beam through the slider of the master bedroom, making it difficult to sleep. Since it was 9 pm by the time we got to this property and we had a 5 year old and a dog in tow, we decided to just make do. The next morning, we woke to hundreds of ants in the kitchen enjoying our pet's treats (and we are on the second floor!). There weren't any paper towels to mop up the ants nor were there any trash bags at the property so I had to go buy them. It seems that the people making these reservations have never been to the properties and know nothing about their locations, amenities (lack thereof), or other impacting factors. During checkout (which is 10 am), I wasn't asked how the stay was, I was only told, thanks and we will see you next time, without any mention of the inconvenience of having to move everything in the dark from one property to another, drive back and forth to get the keys and return them, and neither property being in good condition. When I took the opportunity to let one of the clerks know some of the issues, she said she would have maintenance take care of it. I mentioned that the property conditions were not very good and she told me, "Well, I have my own home and have never stayed in any of them." Wow!!! I have my own home too, but this is supposed to be a nice weekend getaway...not so much!! For the number of signs I saw for properties available in the area, I will definitely choose a different company to book my next "vacation." read more

I should have checked the reviews of this rental place before and wouldn't be as surprised by all the other reviews complaints. First, like other reviews I've read, they need to have the driveways plowed! We got in at 5pm and there were no outside lights working! Once we got inside the cabin it was nice like the pictures showed but again not one light switch in any of the 3 bedrooms worked...we had to go turn them on from the lamp switches. We brought up dvd's to watch but the DVD player wasn't working either! The outside jacuzzi was nice and clean but the BBQ was near impossible to get out of the snow, we shoveled and brought out pans of hot water to melt the snow, so that we could cook the stuff for the two nights I brought BBQ dinner for. Worst part of all is that the front door deadbolt didn't lock, we didn't realize it until I got back early from skiing and just put the key in and it opened. Thought it was that we must if not locked it properly, so later as we went for a walk in the evening my husband locked it and when we got back he just wiggled the handle and it opened. So, this management company is doing a huge disservice to their rental properties because the place was great but not being cared for properly before people's arrivals which is unfortunate because as well as I liked the cabin, I'd choose another rental place that keeps better care of their properties. For the price we paid everything should have been in working condition and when I returned the keys and let them know of the problems all the lady at the front said is that all? No apology or anything! Hope this helps someone else when selecting a vacation rental place. It's not the property but the management! After all the reviews I'm surprised the owners don't go with another management....unfortunately, won't rent from Big Bear Vacations again, we will look elsewhere. read more

We were sorely disappointed with the filthy conditions of our cabin. I would highly suggest not believing the photos or what the rental agent tells you over the phone. We were sold a bill of goods and did not get what we were promised. It was obvious to all of us that our cabin had not been inspected prior to our check in and the fact that we found an old molded dish rag and beer tops in the garbage disposal just attested to that. Granted, when I complained to the Manager, she agreed to refund our cleaning problem but that was too little to late and the damage had already been done. There are a lot of other Vacation Rental businesses to chose from in Big Bear and I would recommend checking them out before deciding with Big Bear Vacations. read more

Horrible customer service. I was there with my family this weekend. To begin, they gave us the wrong keys to the cabin. We got there around 5 or 6 ready to check in and enjoy our stay. That wasn't necessarily the case. Upon arriving to our cabin, we immediately realized the keys weren't the correct ones to open the front door. When we called to report this issue, the lady whom we spoke to literally said " yep those are the right ones, we've been having trouble with the lock just go ahead and try wiggling it in." Really? "Wiggling it in? I was livid, first off because she should have checked the keys and their corresponding cabin before handing them over and secondly because we had 3 kids in the car, one being 9 months old in almost 20 degree weather waiting for the door to be unlocked. We called again exposing that we've tried to open it numerous times and still no luck. She once again suggested we tried wiggling the door and this time she would send some help. Frustrated and very cold, we took matters into our own hands and decided to check to see if there were any one Windows or doors we can get I though. Luckily the back door was left unlocked and we were able to head in and get our children out of the freezing temperatures. And the help, they never came. Upon checking out we explained our situation to the same girl that did nothing over the phone and stated that we were never helped or sought after even after she had "sent" someone down. She took our keys and proceeded to check us out. Once we got home, we get a call from their front desk person asking us when we checked out because we were never on file. We explained to that person as well what had happened and that we'd left behind our paperwork as well to avoid any mix ups. Turns out the woman who had checked us in, messed up our cabin and checked us out, had never reported our checkout nor the incident. She simply placed the keys back to the corresponding cabin and left our records open as if we were still staying. Needless to say this establishment is very disorganized and needs better customer service when dealing with serious issues as this one. read more

Understood it's a cabin, but at the same time you want to live like a human being. They don't provide trash bags, toilet paper. You also have to throw away your own trash in a completely different location. So be prepared to put dirty trash bags in your own car- or you'll be charged another fee. I was so happy with my rental! I spoke with Christina and she was so incredibly helpful! I gave her information on our party size and what we were looking for. She gave us several recommendations and worked with us all along the way. The cabin was absolutely perfect, and the location, amazing! They run the cabins almost like a spread out hotel, complete with housekeeping and maintenance if needed. They have staff on call if needed, so I felt fully confident if anything went wrong they would be available. The cabin was everything she said and she made great recommendations on things to do in town while we were there. The process was so easy. We will definitely book through them again! Reserved a cabin near the lake. On arrival, found it to be surrounded by a chain link fence which made it looked condemned. Neighbors had a pool which was half empty and full of debris. BBQ was too dirty to use. Very disappoined for the price. read more

We decided one Saturday night before Labor Day that we wanted to get away for a couple days with the family. We haven't done that in years and even then, it had been YEARS before that! We wanted to go camping, but such short notice before a holiday...everything was booked! We stumbled upon Big Bear Vacations in looking for a cabin to stay in instead of camping. We were so blessed to find several options that were in our budget AND suited our family of 2 adults and 6 kids! We reserved our cabin (Ski Inn Style) on Saturday night and drove up there to check in Sunday at 4 pm! So grateful that you can do that on a holiday weekend! They even gave us chapsticks and a certificate for half off our rental of kayaks! The cabin itself was cozy and homey and perfect. There were enough beds for all of our kids and we had our own room! The kids loved the hot tub! I was disappointed that the bbq didn't work. I am a bbq kind of person. But that is really the ONLY negative thing I have to say about the whole experience! The kitchen was stocked with all the pans and dishes we needed, the bathrooms had towels and soap and toilet paper, there were extra blankets and pillows...there was nothing we needed that we didn't have access to. I would NEVER rent from Big Bear Vacations again. Our cabin was dirty and not well maintained. They charge $100 for cleaning, but you have to do the dishes and take out the trash . . . to a different location! I found the office staff rude and unhelpful. Save your money!!!! read more

Upon arriving at the cabin the hot tub had no water. I contacted Big Bear Vacations and they said they would send someone to fix it. After waiting around for several hours I called back Big Bear Vacations and they said they had gotten word from the owner that the hot tub was out of order. Thanks for the call back! Their customer service needs some freshening up as they made little attempt to offer a late checkout or any discount for the non use of the jacuzzi. I was also never notified that the hot tub was out of order when I made my reservation in the first place. Not cool. read more

We paid a $85.00 cleaning fee, but our cabin was filthy. There were spider webs everywhere, thick dust, the dishes were in the cupboard but filthy. We went to the mountains with our daughter and grandson for a family vacation but it was so dirty my daughter did not feel comfortable staying with the baby and went home. When we checked out we explained to Kim Hermon at the front desk that we didn't feel we should have to pay the cleaning fee when we had to stay in a filthy cabin, and we were told that they would look into it and get back to us. The absolute worst experience I have ever had with a rental. The initial reservation was not the problem. We arrived at the Big Bear Vacation office at 5:30 pm. The office personnel were pleasant and gave us a code to get into the cabin which was about two miles away. Filthy cabin. Carpet disgusting in bedroom. Closet door had a large hole that looked like a body had been thrown through it. When I checked the bed, the spread and blanket were dirty and there was one live and two dead bugs on the sheet. We immediately drove back to the rental office and it was closed 15 minutes before closing time. We then called the emergency number four times and left messages with no return call until 9 the next morning. So we were forced to find other accommodations which cost us more because of the last minute check in. The Big Bear Vacations company is really screwed up with no systems in place for emergencies and certainly no quality control. Their on line pictures of this cabin did not reflect the reality. read more

This is the second time we've used Big Bear vacation rentals and will use them again. Both times we've rented a pet friendly house with a fenced yard so that we can bring our dog. Just know that you need to clean your dishes before you leave and take your trash to one of two dumpster locations on your way out. read more

I wish i checked review before booking with these people because unfortunately every negative comment on here so none less then the truth. Searched on line for a cabin and found several, many with bad reviews. Found Grey Wolf cabin on the Big Bear Vacations web site and basically got VERY lucky. The cabin is cozy, warm and just the right size for our group of 4. Anymore and it would have been cramped. Firewood is pricey, bring your own. Location is good, not in the center of town and not too far out. You will have to drive to go to the shopping district, not a big deal; there really isn't anything there to purchase but it was nice to walk around. The rental company.... Although I made the reservation, I did not check our group in, but the encounter my companions had was funny. Seems the supervisor, (they knew he was a supervisor because he let it be known) was a bit of a pompous sort of guy. Young and maybe full of himself. The office is clean and attractive. It is centrally located, next to the Carl's Junior. One of the nights before we left, I received a voice message from the rental office that I thought I understood, but didn't really understand. I thought we were offered a later checkout time at no extra cost. (Everything extra has a fee, everything.) WRONG. They built up the offer in the message, but at the very end mentioned the fee for a late checkout. Glad I called to confirm the information. Be careful what you listen to while drinking and playing Ping-Pong! Overall, the Grey Wolf cabin is great. We would go back, or find out if the same owners have a larger cabin for a bigger group. All in all, we really like the GREY WOLF cabin. P.S. if anyone else stays here and encounters the ghost, drop me a line. There is no way I dreamed it all up. read more

This story is the story from hell, or rather the snowstorm from up North!! I'll keep it short. My review starts after weathering the storm getting up to Big Bear and finally getting the key to the cabin I had reserved for the Thanksgiving weekend. I was greeted by Liz and also helped by Kim. I picked up my key and set on my way. After almost getting caught in the snow on a dead end street, I managed to make my way back to Big Bear Vacations. The first cabin was inaccessible because it had not been plowed and nobody was getting up there even if you had chains on all four tires! I explained the situation to Kim and she was very accommodating and managed to find us another cabin. We had the same luck with the second cabin and a third cabin! We ended up spending two nights in two different hotels and spending over five hundred dollars just in hotel. On Saturday, when the road down the back way finally opened we decided to leave. I went to Big Bear Vacations turned in a key and explained our odyssey. This is where I and why I have to give Big Bear Vacations the highest rating. Both Liz and Kim were very sympathetic and understanding to what we had just been through and between the two of them worked to reimburse me for what I had paid in advance for the cabin I never occupied. I believe they probably didn't have to but I am very thankful that they did because it speaks highly of them, their character and the company they represent. Kim told me that she did not want us to leave with a bad impression and that she wanted us to come back again and give them a try again. I would definitely like to go back to Big Bear and if I do I will definitely without hesitation use Big Bear Vacations to book my stay. Thank you very much to all at Big Bear Vacations. read more

Considering what we paid for this stay we expected way more. It was not even a cabin that my son was so excited for, it was a run down, old condo. The condo needed a paint job, it looked run down and it's outside landscape looked so trashy. It was pathetic, and a rip off. There check in office is really nice and their staff is friendly which is why I more or less expected the same when it came to the place we stayed in but far from it. There was no Wi-Fi or any connection whatsoever which was frustrating, that too should have been included with our payment. I would never recommend this place of business for stays in Big Bear. read more
