Definitely prepare for the shift of the boards. Walked in and it REEKED of cigarettes. It's always kind of dark in there, so it was just a dingy vibe when you add smoke. That said, I still got a sub - they've definitely slimmed down recently, but damn it was tasty. I also got a pint of the red hot pickles, which aren't that spicy, but still tasty. The owner was nice enough, I wouldn't say friendly, but didn't snarl at me. Casings are not properly closed, they don't taste the same and their Wienerle look wrinkly and outright unappetizing + they are oversmoked. Very sad to see an institution go downhill and change that quickly from being an authentic German butcher to being a subpar spot that has none of the craftsmanship and quality that they used to have.
