Big Ben's Flooring - an empty hallway - Carpet Cleaning Near Me - Stockton, California

This company was subcontracted for a recent renovation of our kitchen after water damage caused by a plumber's mistake. Our experience with Big Ben's was comparable to an episode of a sitcom. Flooring representative arrived on a Friday to measure the kitchen and show me flooring samples. I liked the products he had, but was hoping for some other color options. He told me he could bring some other things by the following Monday, before he left for some flooring convention in Vegas. He never called or showed up. After two weeks, during which time I had been asking our contractor "what's up with the flooring guy, can you contact him?" I got a message from the flooring rep asking if he could come by the following Monday. I apologized and said that would not work, because I was starting a new job. He offered to come by on Saturday, between 4-5 pm. "Great!" I say. I had plans, but was willing to leave early and be home to meet the flooring guy. Saturday comes, and I leave my social club's gathering at 3:30 to make it home. He messaged me about 20 minutes past 4 to say he'll be there shortly after 5. Okay, fine. 6 pm comes and goes. I text him asking for an ETA. Finally, he shows up about 6:30. He has some other flooring samples to show us. He also has his fly open. Awkward... but we selected a flooring color that works with the rest of the house. Soon, the flooring is delivered, and construction begins on our kitchen. Before we know it, it's flooring time! Just over half of the old flooring had already been torn up by the restoration company, and the plywood that had been covering the subfloor in that half had been taken up in preparation by the contractor's main crew. The guys came and got to work removing the remaining flooring. They popped the breakers within 10 minutes... but with an older home, and power tools, that's expected. They were apparently having some issues with their air compressor that day, and had to leave and come back with different tools. They had the compressor set up in our back bathroom for access to power, and at some point that day, the glass shower door was shattered. They said they wanted to stay late and finish putting down the wood flooring, so they could do the laminate planks the next day. We admired their dedication... but when we discovered the shower door was broken shortly thereafter... they knew nothing about how it could have happened, but suddenly, they had to LEAVE. Oh, and I forgot to mention one of us saw a flooring installer crew (allegedly) drinking alcohol hidden in a brown paper bag while sitting outside in their work van on a break. Our contractor stepped in and handled the situation. Door was replaced, safety glass shards were vacuumed up. He convinced us that this was just a random fluke, this was a good company, and that we could refuse to have the crew back, but they were really sorry about everything and wanted to finish the job; also, finding another crew to come out would delay the construction, and it had already been delayed a week thanks to the comedy of errors of ANOTHER subcontractor. We reluctantly agreed, but we both stayed home from work to supervise, because we were fearful of retaliation or further problems. We also had one of the contractor's crew on-site to keep tabs on them as well. So the flooring got finished, and it was lovely. All they needed to do was put the trim pieces down to separate the new flooring from the other rooms. But, what's that? They forgot the trim at the shop? And oh no, long trip home to Modesto, they will come back tomorrow to do it? Nope. We told them to go get the trim at the shop, get back here and install it. Which they did. So we thought things were finished, no more stress. Then we discovered a whole bundle of oak that hadn't been opened. They WAY over-estimated how much flooring we would need. While that's a good thing for the laminate planks (accidents happen), we don't need a ton of oak floorboards laying around in our basement or garage. Our contractor is currently waiting to find out if we can get reimbursed for that flooring in full, because that's money that could have helped pay for other things in the restoration. And then! (Oh, you thought this was over? Us, too!) Then, we went down to the basement to get something out of the freezer downstairs and discovered broken wood, debris and nails EVERYWHERE from the flooring job! Collectibles and video equipment and other things stored down there while all this construction was going on were covered in stuff. A chunk of wood actually pierced a shoe - thank god it wasn't a nail! Once again, our contractor to the rescue, sending his cleaning crew over to handle the gigantic mess. Of minor, but still legitimate annoyance - we did not receive a care sheet or instructions of any kind on how to care for our new laminate floor. We want to make sure this flooring lasts for many years, especially after all we endured to get it installed to begin with! read more

FACT, FICTION, or just BS? I saw this company on 2016 Best in San Joaquin (I believe in supporting local), so I called and explained my situation. Picture it... 6 years, 4 dogs, and 2 guys. So I asked for the pet deep cleaning, spot treatment.. you know... the works. She said that will take hours and schedule me an open day on the following week. The young man showed up on time, little after 9am. I showed him the area, and he said it will take about 2 to 3 hours. He was done before 11am. He said he could not get the stains out the on the landing left by the movers 30 days earlier. He also could not get the furniture markings out of the carpet. YES... you could see where the bed was, the dresser, even the throw rug. I asked about the wine stains on the throw rug, he got this spray out and started to rub. I could see his towel got dirty. Couldn't understand why he didn't use this first? Disappointed, I called and told the young lady on the phone how I felt. She was unconcerned and wanted my card number to pay the fee. I then went back to the house the following day and went to a stain in one of the rooms, I got on all four and could smell pet pee. So I took a wet sponge and wiped it up. DID I tell you this carpet was Scotch Guarded when installed? WAIT... theirs more. So I called again and mentioned this. So one of the guys came out to see. He saw no problem and explained that deep stains sometimes don't come up until after the initial cleaning. So what I'm seeing is the result of that initial cleaning. REALLY, from under my bed too? He also said it looked fine based on the before and after photos. I never saw a camera being used and he did not offer to show me. I also thought they would vacuum (I already did but missed one spot). He said the equipment has a built in vacuum. So to all of you out there, asked questions. WATCH THEM. Ask to see the vacuum, the spot cleaner, and the camera. I paid Two hundred dollars per hour.. yes over four hundred dollars for less than two hours. FYI.. I have learned that the young lady was let go that day. the professional cleaner is only 21. They charge by the square feet, but no one measured. AND I was not given an invoice to this day. PS: I have the names of all three participates but rather not use their names. read more

This contractor is one I would steer clear of. The first job they did for me they couldn't get both the carpet and flooring teams out at the same time. They left the quarter round for someone else to install, and the carpet guy didn't know how to install the transitions. I had to call them back because they didn't put one part of the floor all the way to the wall. I tried to use them to clean the carpets in my current home. The kid that came had no idea what he was doing and had to leave to empty his tank in his truck. I contacted the owner and he said that the kid shouldn't be dumping the chemicals in the sewer drains. He also said that his normal cleaning crew had gone back to college and this kid was new. So we decided that I would find someone else to do the carpets. I had discovered that the owner's sister was someone that I have the utmost respect for and I really liked the flooring product that had been used on the other home, and was replacing all the carpeting, so I figured I would try again and watch them like a hawk. The project manager was one of the most unprofessional people I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I won't go into why here. When I attempted to speak with the owner, he never returned my calls. In fact he made it clear that he didn't really care much, and that he left that part of his business in the project manager's hands. I texted the project manager to cancel the install. He ignored me. I also texted the owner saying I was canceling the install. The project manager moved the install to another date without clearing it with me. The owner just said he was sorry to hear that. When I called to find out when the materials would arrive, I was told they were there and they could move up the install. I told the man answering the phone that I had cancelled the install. They then attempted to charge me for dump fees and I had to tell him I wasn't paying dump fees, just for the cost of the materials. When they arrived, a piece of quarter round was damaged. I told them they were not getting a check until I had a replacement piece. The project manager was upset and said it was scrap. No, I'm not buying scrap. They ended up replacing the piece and I gave them the check. When I had it installed by one of the most professional crew I have ever encountered, they had just barely enough of that color of quarter round. I had way too much of the other color. I guess estimating the needed materials isn't a skill in their wheelhouse either. The estimator was very young sand obviously new to doing estimates. I wanted so badly to have a good experience with them. At least I ended up with the best flooring contractor I have ever encountered. So there was a positive outcome after all. read more

Big Ben's just put in wood flooring in my kitchen and entry way! There are many gaps and glue left on the wood. The main contractor came out to inspect the job! My flooring is now getting ripped out and has to be redone by a new contractor. I do not recommend Big Bens for installation of flooring. read more

Done in about 3 hours. Incredibly friendly guys who know their craft. Marcus took care of ugly tile grout. 17 years of crud, done in 1.5 hours; would've taken me 3 days to scrub. Our home is in a rural area of Calaveras County. Our designer found Big Bens which is in Stockton and can service our area. We replaced carpet in our home. The carpet installation was beautiful. Nice work. Why one less star? Some stress from the whole process which made shopping at Big Ben's Carpet not a fun experience. *the two different style/color carpets did not come at the same time and was not checked before they arrived at my home. I got a call from the sales guy telling me that the workers at my home have only my bedroom carpet, and the remaining carpet for other areas will not arrive until end of the week. The workers were ready to cut my bedroom carpet for other rooms when I ran to tell them of the error. Thank God they hadn't cut the carpet!! *I was given an old business card that had the incorrect address, which caused our deposit payment not not arrive at their place of business. My husband had sent it overnight at an inconvenience to him because that is what our designer told us to do. We wanted to pay that deposit by credit card over the phone, but no one answered their business phone for half a day. I didn't get a response from a text to the salesman either, until after 5pm that day. Too late, the incorrect address deposit payment went out. *instead of the salesman calling and asking for the tracking number for our overnight deposit payment, I get a call from the secretary saying " I'm calling to collect the deposit payment for your carpet". That is how I found out our overnight payment didn't make it to their business, because I was given an old business card. Nothing in life is perfect and always runs smoothly.
